I do not recommend doing business with Encino Fireplace Shop. My experience with the owner, Bob, was extremely unprofessional and concerning. I went there intending to purchase outdoor appliances. Bob insisted on a cash payment, which immediately raised red flags. When I asked for an invoice, he refused and said, "I'm the warranty -- you don't need an invoice." When I questioned how I would claim any warranty without proper documentation, he abruptly told me there was no warranty and became very rude. After taking my cash, he completely disregarded me and ended the conversation. It was clear he had no intention of providing any customer support or legitimate documentation. This kind of behavior raises serious concerns about possible tax evasion and lack of business ethics. Avoid this place -- there are plenty of reputable and honest shops elsewhere. read more

We had an excellent experience with Encino Fireplace. After living for years with only a rusted, unused gas starter in our fireplace, the last 44-hour power loss during a winter storm convinced us to get the fireplace up and running. I called Encino Fireplace and described my needs, and they advised me to measure the fireplace and come into their showroom. I went in a few days later and met Talin who was very helpful. She showed me some options, cautioned me against some pitfalls I didn't forsee, and figured out exactly what I needed. All I had to do was pick out the style of logs. We coordinated everything via email. I paid a deposit, and they ordered my logs and remote kit. When it arrived, they contacted me to schedule the install. The gentleman who came to do the install was very friendly and worked hard to make sure the install looked really good. He also used a tool to ensure that no natural gas leaked out of the valve -- I didn't even realize that could be a concern. Every interaction was friendly, prompt and professional, and I'm very pleased with the end result. Thank you to Talin for a beautiful fireplace setup. We were in the market to replace the ratty mesh curtain on our mid-century fireplace with sleek glass doors. Emailed several companies and got a nice note back from Encino fireplace inviting us to come in and visit the showroom. We met Bob and the owner who helped us figure out what would work in our home. We had a gas line that was primarily used to light our wood-burning fireplace. But because an actual fire is so messy, we opted to purchase gas logs. He gave us a quote on the spot and we scheduled an appointment with Ruben their installer to come out and take proper measurements. When he arrived, he took off his shoes and spread out a protective blanket to make sure his tools didn't damage anything. Ruben was cordial, polite and efficient. He brought color samples and patiently explained the difference between the inside and outside mounting options and what we needed to have the plumber do with the gas line prior to installation. He also suggested that we paint the inside of the fireplace black for a more finished look. Installation was today with as much care as Ruben's first visit. Looks great! read more

Was interested in an electric fireplace and was recommended to check this place out by a contractor who is familiar with this store . They had quite a few selections however they cost more than other stores. to avoid running around town made the purchase here anyway. I ended up with a used open box and this was sold as new . I called immediately and was told to email all details and pictures of the unit and wait for a response about compensation. After waiting for over two weeks and endless emails I was told to return the item which was not possible since I had hired a contractor and work was done and complete . They're now blaming it on manufacturer however that is not my problem . No compensation could be honored and I will be seeking other options for comCareful when shopping here . After 11 years in my house I finally decided to fix the fireplace. Having no knowledge at all about this I simply replaced the lighter that was there but corroded. Funny... I out this in our car's gps and it took us to the alley parking of a restaurant with a flame on the sign. I parked there and noticed the back door was closed, so I went around to Ventura Blvd., and noticed it was a restaurant! I drove back to Ventura Blvd. and used the meter parking a few doors down from the restaurant. Anyway, the guy inside showed us the different fireplace options. We liked the new modern styles. He gave us pricing for the different widths and styles. We still have to get our own installers. We still haven't decided on what to do. The features were not as advertised and the overall experience was not worth the money. I would not recommend this product to anyone. This product arrived damaged and did not work at all. I was very disappointed with the quality of the product and would not recommend it to anyone. Araz has a horrible attitude and very poor customer service. This review is strictly on customer service. First, I really don't like giving negative reviews especially to small businesses (since I am a small business owner myself), but sometimes people show such a low level of respect for you, you have an obligation to let others know. I was trying to get a price on a specific gas fireplace. I contacted the manufacturer and then got communications from Talin (they obviously passed my info along to her). Once I got the official quote, the price was higher than my budget. Talin said they had other fireplace options, but seemed she was trying to keep me on this more expensive fireplace. I inquired with her several times via email & a phone call about sending me some other options that were more in my desired price range since she said they had other options. She never answered me. I then asked if they could do 5% better on the original one since she wasn't getting back to me on other options. Again, no response. What type of business owner doesn't respond to customer inquiries even it's to tell me she can't do the added discount and she has no other options for me? I was a guaranteed sale if she got me into another one for a little cheaper or could find an extra 5% in the one I originally inquired about. Seems like the reviews on here shows a pattern on their customer service. Based on her responses here to reviews, it's clear she's in denial about her terrible customer service. I expect a similar response here where she points the finger back at the customer. As expected, she tried to turn this around in her response. She could have spent less time responding to my email stated she couldn't break a protocol and sell me something else since she got my lead from a manufacturer. Instead, she waited until this review to say this in a defense. Also, she said I emailed her a day ago and said she gets lots of messages to get through, but quickly answered my review. When I went to the Encino store Araz and Amy helped me. I was looking for a large gas system for my large living room fireplace. The selection there is very good and I soon decided on one with chunks of glass under the flames. The installer came out the following Monday on time. He took off his shoes and started work. He knew exactly what to do and before long the inside was all painted black and I heard the glass chunks going in. He showed me how to light the flames and was done. I'm a builder and Encino is my go-to place for fireboxes and ceramic logs or stones, and even fireplace tool sets. They have a great selection, and Bob and Araz are just super-nice guys. And if something doesn't look quite right, they're really good about returns. It's so different than the Lowes and Home Depots of the world. These guys really take the time to explain your options, and they're happy to take out a catalog and show you what's not on the floor. You're not talking to the guy in lumber who's filling in for the guy in fireplaces--you're talking to an expert when you're at Encino Fireplace. Love the independent stores with great service and fair prices...we should all support them so they stay around. read more

Go elsewhere. Yes, the folks at the showroom are perfectly nice and helpful when discussing and choosing products, but that's not enough. Before we purchased a gas log set, we compared prices with similar businesses and they all ran about the same. So we decided to go with Encino Fireplace to support a local business close to our home. We purchased a set of gas logs, along with full installation and paid to have the fireplace repainted. I regret it. In addition to sales, the other part of their business is in service and it seems the owner isn't aware of the multiple complaints posted here. I just had my gas log set installed and it was a very unpleasant and interminable experience. 1) The serviceman was about an hour late on the (first) installation day. 2) He was unaware of everything the job required, as he left without sealing the hole where the gas line comes in, which was part of the installation service we were offered. He apparently didn't know that was part of the job. Luckily, I caught him before he disappeared, so he returned (somewhat reluctantly) to seal the hole. Since the paint job had already been completed, he sealed over the new paint and proceeded to then immediately paint again over the fresh seal. Upon drying, the mixture of the wet seal and paint left streaks inside the fireplace. Now... we are competent homeowners and have done lots of stuff DIY-style. Due to our busy schedules, however, we decided to pay for someone to paint ($95 for about four square feet). Given I'm HIRING someone to paint, I expect that paint job to look flawless. This was far from it. Messy, streaky and even some missed spots. I called to complain the next day and I was asked to send along picture proof (there's probably better ways to have handled that but whatever). A "touch up" appointment was set up. 3) Nobody showed up. Despite setting aside time from a hectic schedule, the appointment was missed. I called again. They weren't sure what happened, but the serviceman was rescheduled again in a few days at 8am. 4) He showed up close to 9am. 5) And he was NOT happy to be there. Before his "touch ups," he quietly grumbled that the paint job looked fine. Before leaving, he asked me to OK the job and said something along the lines of "Is this okay NOW? Can I leave now? It's OK?" Again, GO ELSEWHERE. Their prices are just as competitive as anyone else and there's no sense in supporting a business with such poor customer service. read more

Terrible service! Worst experience! My husband and I gave this shop SO much business and received horrible service in return. We initially ordered 2 expensive fireplace doors from them at $2,500 each. We later went back and paid $1,000 more for the installation of the logs and other accessories in the 2 fireplaces. There were about 10 different log colors/styles to choose from at the store and we picked the one that would match our home. When they were installed, one of the set of logs was the correct color, but the other was completely the wrong color. I called Bob, who helped us with the order, and informed him and he said the box has the correct style number so there is nothing he can do to help me. He said that under no circumstance will he exchange the logs for another set. He didn't even take more than a minute to talk to me over the phone and kept saying he is too busy and has to go and hung up. What's even worse than his refusal to change the logs for the correct color is how he treated me. He was so extremely rude and disrespectful in how he spoke to me. I was shocked than anyone would treat a customer like this! If he had at least been understanding and respectful and taken the time to keep his customer happy, I would have let it go and accept that we are stuck with the logs. But his attitude and temper was completely unacceptable and left me so extremely upset. Will definitely never be back here and I would never recommend it to anyone. read more
