I hired Vlad and Factor Surfaces to remodel two outdated bathrooms in my rental property. Admittedly, I am not the most skilled person when it comes to designing and decorating a home--it just isn't in my DNA. I mentioned this to Vlad and he was super helpful in assisting me with everything from the overall design of the bathrooms to the selection of various materials (tile, shower systems, etc.). I could tell that he spent a lot of time really considering what me and my wife wanted, our vision, and all while making sure that everything fell within our budget. I had a feeling that I was in good hands when I picked out a couple things that I liked and Vlad was honest enough to tell me that while the items would look good in a different style bathroom, they wouldn't really work well with the overall design that we went with. Thank god he did this, as his recommendations looked 100x better than what would have gone in there had I went through with my initial purchases. The end result was absolutely incredible. I learned a lot here. There is a difference in tiles. The color of some tiles goes all the way through the tile and some tiles only have the color on the surface. Tiles can chip over time so I purchased tile where the color goes all the way through and also that has a matte finish. If it should ever chip, it would be hardly noticeable. If the finish is gloss, even if the color should go all the way through, you'd see the difference in the finish since inside the tile would be matte. I just gave you an invaluable lesson. I had a 5-star review of Factor Surfaces up here for some time because the guy they sent out to my house (two houses on two separate occasion) to install this textured MDF wall was kick-ass. But after several attempts to deal with Factor Surfaces since them on other issues (shower tile and countertops), I realize that the only awesome thing about them is this very gifted, very specialized installer who only does textured MDF walls and doesn't even work for them. The actual staff of Factor Surfaces is less than helpful and FAR less than responsive, requiring constant followup and reminders. It's like impossible to get a price out of them. Then you call up and ask if they've got the price for you. Then they tell you they don't have the information, and you need yo re-supply it. Then repeat. This has happened multiple times. Doesn't matter whether it's Gregory, the dad, or his son. Similar inattentiveness to detail and lack of caring about customers' needs. Sad, really. The selection is amazing, but who has the time to chase these clowns. read more

We just completed our bathroom remodel and had two un-opened boxes of subway tile. The store policy is no returns after 30 days from purchase. Our project, as with most home renovations, wasn't complete within 30 days of purchasing the tile so we're stuck with it. So they get a poor rating on return policy. Additionally, we needed to make an additional order of some finishing pieces (1/4 rounds and edge pieces). Getting the order placed and receiving the material took longer than expected. I opted not to pay an additional "expediting" fee, which may have caused my order to get less than prompt attention. More than once when I had a question or needed help they made me feel like it was an inconvenience for them. The store had a good selection of tiles, but we only ended up getting white subway shower tile there. I'd recommend looking elsewhere first, especially for more basic stuff. read more

I ordered 700$ worth of tile and needed to add to the order a few days later. They wanted to charge 20$ shipping. I understand they have to charge shipping for samples but I think they should have tried to work with me since I'm a paying customer who just placed an order . They would rather worry about 20$ then customer satisfaction. I was willing to pick it up but they would not even work with me. Then they refused to even put in the order because they said it's not worth it to them. Beware because once you pay them customer service goes out the window. They are only concerned about making a quick dollar instead of a long term investment. I would have referred a lot of business if they would have waived the shipping and I would have left a positive review which would have brought more businesses in the long run. We bought $1,000 of kitchen flooring tiles from this store. The tiles were much more expensive than Chinese made because we liked the US made tiles looked. Big mistake. The tiles (12x24) were seriously bowed. These tiles are made by Datile in Texas and the model is CC10. Unfortunately the tiler installed the tiles before telling us how bad it was. The result is that the floor is very uneven and the thin grouts look terrible. We contacted the store many times, by text and in person. They gave us the runaround and faked not remembering our complaint. The last time we texted them they responded that they would talk to the owner of the store and get back to us. Of course it didn't happen either. The result is that after over a month, Factor Surfaces doesn't stand behind the product they sell. We will never shop at this store ever again. read more
