I am a lifelong resident of the neighborhood and have been a customer at Energy Fuel since they opened. I love their shakes, smoothies, salads, and wraps. My husband is a fan of their protein bowls, and my son loves their quesadillas. Unfortunately, I feel like the quality of the food has gone downhill significantly as of late, which is a shame, since their prices are also much higher than they used to be. The folks who work there never seem happy when you walk inside, and simple orders often take a very long time, so it's not fun to sit there anymore. The atmosphere is borderline depressing. In a recent delivery order, we actually found a dirty, plastic bottle cap in the guacamole of my son's chicken guacamole quesadilla. I was so disgusted and disappointed. I immediately called the restaurant, and the person who answered actually didn't care at all. In a completely flat voice, they said, "Huh? A bottle cap? In your food? Well, sorry about that." No offer to make it right. No genuine apology. I contacted GrubHub and received a refund on the item. I don't think we'll be patronizing the Ridgewood Energy Fuel again. read more

when I had a surgery for my weak digestive system. I wasn't able to eat anything at all. I found this place and got açaí bowls just like the picture which at first they didn't charge for the blueberries (it's on the picture). Then they started charging the fee for it which I didn't mind I would get this for lunch and it was so satisfying until they slowly started not having them. One time I was suggested the other flavor one with dragon fruit it's too sweet for my liking. Now I call before I go waste a 40 minute drive and have been disappointed with the "No we don't have any" it's 12pm-1pm. How can they not have any for two weeks straight at a time... Sad thing it's the only place that has them. They would of had a five star bc two of their employees are super nice that normally see. This order is an accumulation of 3 separate visits. My last straw was when I placed an order through Uber eats for the chipotle chicken salad and the energy boost juice. My salad came completely dry, no dressing on the side nor did it come with the lite caeser dressing and Parmesan as stated in the menu. My juice which should of included carrots,apple,celery,orange was strictly just carrot juice. Celery can be overwhelming yet all I get is carrot. The other times I came in around 8pm and then at 9pm and both times I was told they were no longer taking any orders, yet the hours state till 10. I've tried to call at 8:15, when I'm on my way home from work, and the girls have often told me they aren't taking any more orders, despite closing at 10PM. This has also happened multiple times. Tonight, I placed an order online at 7:57PM. I received text abs email notification that my order would arrive at 9:11PM. At 9:23PM I called to ask about the status of my order and was told my order was refunded (which it was not at the time), and that I would not be receiving my delivery. I asked why they didn't notify me that I wasn't getting my food and was told that I got a refund, so I should know. After hanging up with them, I received another text message saying my order is on the way (9:24PM), then a few minutes later I received another email with the refund. I wouldn't have been upset if they had communicated that they weren't going to deliver my meal- I work in hospitality and I understand that things happen. But if I didn't call them I think I would still be waiting for my dinner, and I doubt they would have said anything (an hour and a half later). And I did NOT get the refund until I called. Very disappointed, and my family and I order from this establishment 2/3 times a week. This is ridiculous. In fact, it's incredibly light with barely a hint of bananas with strawberries noticeably absent. The color is even different. It's a light pink compared to the usual red..What is going on here?! Interesting that obviously caters to the gym rats at the gym located next door. The menu seems very interesting with a ton of playful names like "energy wrap", "Super Energy Wrap", "Super Duper Energy Tasty Bar". Everything seems exciting, but some things are misleading especially my Energy Hawaiian Wrap I ordered. Although it was supposed to come with a "touch" of rice, pineapple, mango, and chicken. I ended up receiving a wrap that contained 80-90% rice and very little chicken/mango/pineapple. It sucked, but Carol let me get her half wrap which was chicken, avocado lettuce and tomatoes and really good. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but I think a touch of anything means a very little amount. Unfortunately, two days of ordering back-to-back have yielded less than desirable results. Last night I placed an order online at 9:15. They called me at 9:17 to tell me they don't do deliveries past 9 PM and refunded me. It never said this on the website, but I guess it's because they close at 10. I was frustrated but got over it. I wouldn't fault them on this this time. Tonight, however, I order at 8:35. Long before the time I was told to order yesterday. It's now 9:43 PM. I just called them because they close at 10 again and ask if my order was in its way. She tells me they received no order. I give her my confirmation number. I received it through text and the website where I placed my order. She apologizes because they didn't see it and "the driver is already out doing deliveries." Im informed that they won't honor my order. She offers me a refund, apologizes a few more times and suggests I "call in the order next time so we don't overlook it." I beg your pardon? The reason I chose to order online is because, A. That is an option your franchise offers me, and B. I didn't want to spend five minutes phoning in an order when I can order it in two minutes online. Now, I have to order elsewhere and wait another 30-45 minutes for my food. This is super frustrating to me. Outside of this incident, the food is incredible. Going forward for me, however, I will choose not to order on the phone or online. I'll only go when I can eat there in person. Had a pretty awesome Caesar salad with salmon today. The salad itself was large and came with croutons, and turkey bacon. I added salmon to the salad. The salmon was nicely prepared and seasoned lightly. I could tell it was made to order as it was still slightly warm. The dressing was on the side and just enough to coat the salad. The side of pita bread I didn't bother to eat. A friend phoned ahead to place our orders. He walked out about 5 minutes later with our food. Im giving this place 2 stars. The positive, the food is edible. Its not great but it will get the job done if you are trying to eat healthy. The combinations they put together are pretty well balanced. The BBQ Chicken Avacado is one of the better choices. They are also one of the only healthy eating places around the Ridgewood, Glendale, Middle Village area. Now the bad. I am a bodybuilder and am constantly on the go. I dont have time to cook and prepare my meals as I train in the morning and then work a long day. So I rely on places like this to help with the diet aspect. I have a place in Manhattan near my job for food eating healthy. On the weekends, I order 3 meals from here each day in one shot. They deliver it to me here on Eliot Avenue which is close by. So I spend about $80 a weekend here. Thats the way it goes when you dont have time to cook. I was off from work Thursday and figured I would call up. The ditzy counter girl who usually answers and takes my order "Energy Fuel hold on one second" (more like 2 minutes) writes down my order. Then when I tell her where its going (mind you I call up every Saturday and Sunday and order the same 3 things in sequence) decides to inform me that "well the cut off is 69th street and ive got two deliveries in the back so sorry" I respond with "really? Since when did 69th Street become the cutoff? Im only 3 blocks passed that on Eliot Ave anyway. She says "well im sorry I dont know what to tell you sooo." I said thats great ,you recognize this voice I call up every weekend like clockwork. I left it at that. I dont get nasty with people who prepare my food because thats asking for trouble. So this is why this place is getting two stars. I understand the aspiring NASA scientist who answers the phone may dislike the job. Most of us may feel the same. But thats a pretty lousy way to treat a regular customer. Maybe in the grand scheme of things, my $80 a week doesnt mean much to them. I've been here many times, ALWAYS enjoyed the food, and the courteous service. I was in (7/9/2020- 12:30pm)to place an order. I didn't notice at first that neither the person behind the counter or in kitchen were wearing masks, until another customer came in, noticed it and said to me " what, they don't wear masks " I mentioned it, but was ignored, no reply. The next day (7/10/2020 1pm) 2 ladies behind counter without masks on. I began to place my order and said " you really should be wearing masks" they replied " they don't have too". Either we are going to all work together or we aren't . Her tone was dismissive then annoyed then angry. I decided not to order from there, I went elsewhere. For an establishment that is Health Orientated, this is an extremely poor example. What other safeguards do they flout. Food sanitation, freshness , not washing their hands upon leaving the bathroom?. As I said I love their food and juices. But I will never return, unless I'm contacted by the owner. The department of health should visit and inspect. Be careful if you go there. If such a trite thing like wearing a mask is more important than the safety of their customers and the life of the buisness itself, I shudder to think what other health violations they practice. read more
