We were looking for a modern, spacious, and convenient place for my husband's commute to Mayo during his fellowship, and this place has checked all of our boxes and more. Apartments The floor plans are open and thoughtfully designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in tons of natural light. I was initially worried about insulation during the winter, but so far we haven't felt any cold seeping in - the Andersen windows are high quality, and the combination of light-filtering and blackout shades is a nice touch. Everything feels clean and new: light wood floors (no carpet, which was not true of many of the other apartments we toured), solid cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances. Everything was spotless on move-in, which we really appreciated. Location The building sits right along the river, so every day feels like a serene getaway. You have access to many branches of the river trail, as it sits at a 3-point junction where the river splits - there are always many people walking, jogging, and biking to Mayo and around town. We love being so close to the Civic Center (just across the pedestrian bridge behind the building), especially for the Riverside concert series on Sunday evenings in the summer - this building is so close that you can even enjoy the concerts from the building's patio while grilling with friends. It's a little farther from the main downtown area (about a 5-minute longer walk to Gonda vs. other buildings that are downtown), but we actually like being slightly removed from the construction and traffic of the main downtown area. Parking downtown after 5 pm is free, so if you don't feel like walking, you can always make the short drive for dinner downtown. Management & Maintenance Working with Kevin and Anika to finalize our lease was such a pleasant experience, and maintenance requests since moving in have been handled quickly by Doug. As others have mentioned, the older negative reviews were for the previous management company (JMC). The new management company, Doro, has been excellent so far. Amenities There are only about 30 units in the building, so the community feels quiet and private. The heated underground parking garage is super convenient - since it's a smaller building, you don't have to drive up and down multiple levels, and the elevator goes straight to your floor (no separate garage elevator). The building is pet-friendly, with a pet wash station and dog treats in the lobby that my dog always happily accepts from Anika. There is a bike storage area, and a small gym - it's definitely smaller than the big apartment buildings, but most Mayo employees and spouses use the subsidized employee gym anyway (Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center), which has everything you could need. Living here has made our time in Rochester so much more enjoyable than we expected, especially coming from a big city. We always feel happy and relaxed coming home to Lofts at Mayo Park.

In good faith I paid hundreds of dollars for delivery of tiles and all because they claim they can deliver! Deliveries were not accepted and I requested a refund. They ignore my phone calls and emails. They need to do the right thing and refund my money. You can't keep customers money and put in claim to trucking companies for refunds. It's unethical.

I would avoid unless your just buying one off materials. There is no communications between…read morecoworkers, no central file, no way to cross reference. They will stretch the truth to not have to deal with claims. If you annoy them, they will not return phone calls and email will be lacking any details.

I was shopping for four bathroom vanity tops, as well as countertops for our entire kitchen, including an 11 foot island. I was expecting to be able to afford lowest quality granite, because at other stores who saw our plan, this is what I was told was in our budget. What I came away with at TLC was gorgeous, top quality, glowing quartz in every location above, and also as a fireplace surround as well. I am thrilled and stunned by the beauty of our new counters ever time I see them in our home. If I had stopped short of a visit to TLC, for the next 20 years I would be looking at something second best instead--and I would have paid more for it. Not only does TLC sell top quality product at very low prices, but they are also wonderful to work with. You really can't find a better guy than Mike. He's at the top of his field with good relationships with suppliers near and far. He spent hours helping me narrow my choices and showcasing products that might appeal. He really searched to find what I was looking for, and his integrity is palpable. Julie is a color expert. With so many undertones in stone, there's lots of space to make a mistake. She not only helped select our counter tops, but helped me choose paint that would compliment our decisions when I reappeared a few days later with paint chips. We more than benefitted from her decades of experience. After so much thoughtfulness and so many careful decisions, I was out of town for the actual install. What met my eyes upon return stopped me in my tracks: precision perfection. I can't believe how gorgeous every single detail was. At TLC they know how to knock the ball out of the park. In a city as small as a Rochester, it's a surprise to me that this business isn't better known, and that so many people are paying more and receiving so much less, even just a few blocks away. For this reason, I felt like a detailed review was in order. Thanks you so much Mike and Julie for the stunning counter tops and for the hours service helping us get from A to B. When it comes to TLC surfaces, the only thing more beautiful than our new sparkling quartz tops is the integrity, quality, and care with which this business is run.

We had a very expensive counter exotic stone quartzite installed, we feel that the installers were…read morenot skilled enough to install our counter, Mike should have supervised the work, and did not. Our seams are horrible not smooth, counter was not installed level, which is no reason for this, since our home is newer. This created a problem with the install of the cook-top. Black-splash which was the same as the counter was not what we choose, we had one piece, they broke it, so they came with 3 unmatched pieces, after disputing this they took it back and did two pieces. We really should have had one piece, like designed and paid for. When they came to install the backsplash we werent home, they used white cocking did a horrible job cocking this and of course it doesn't match. Guess what you can purchase colored cocking to match! We have silicon on our counter, which needs to be cleaned up, and I now get t figure this out. All concerned were shared with the owner Mike, he did come back and paint only one seam so it will match better, this did help. However I guess there is nothing you can do now about the crooked uneven seams and about it not being leveled. We will purchase color cocking and re-do their cocking job to match very expensive high grade quartzite. Our advise to all is If your spending a lot for your counters stone; granite, quartzite (exotic stone) then spend the money for a better installer. If your doing a bathroom or small counter kitchen then TLC will do fine.

I can not tell you how very satisfied I am with the service I received from Energy Products and Design. I had another company in town try to fix my fireplace on three seperate occassions last year. It was never done right, despite the fact that they came three times and charged me a substantial fee. I called Energy products based on the reviews I had read about them. Adam Barness came to my home and addressed every single problem I had with my fireplace. He took apart the entire thing, showed me each piece that was not functioning and the ones that were. Wore his booties and mask the entire time. Completely cleaned and tuned up my fireplace and replaced the blower fan as well. Polite and respectful service at a price so fair I thought he may have made a mistake. Wish I would have found these folks sooner!! I have no doubt it was done correctly this time. Great products. Bought a Pacific Energy wood stove from them. Works great. Had a recent minor problem. As I now live far away I went over the problem and a technical person took me through the options to correct. We found the minor gasket problem due to his coaching and he recommended a great fix. I recently decided to order new fire bricks for when they eventually wear. As I live far so away the cost of shipping was extreme. So Mike Sample went the extra mile and found a source near us and even ordered up the proper product number, and had it waiting for me at the other location. I highly recommend! read more

I called to have our fireplace serviced and was amazed at how quickly I could get in and how nice the young lady on the phone was. The technician was very nice and helpful, and took the time to clean the glass on my fireplace and everything. I just needed a yearly check up on it and was surprised at how much they needed to do in order to check it over. I felt very good about the amount of time they spent working on it, and looking it over for safety and performance. It was well worth the time and money! Not sure if I'm doing this twice but, just in case.....we have a pretty old Pier Regency fireplace that didn't work correctly and was very dirty. We had Bob Schalau from Energy Products come in and not only is it now working like it should, it is the cleanest it's been since we bought it. We were extremely pleased with his work and with him as a person....very kind, polite, professional, and thorough! Definitely knows what he is doing! Jim I just recently bought a fireplace from Energy Products and Design. This is the second fireplace that I've bought from them over the years! (My second house) I guess what stood out the most is that they listened to my needs and what I wanted in a fireplace. Brent went above and beyond to ensure that I was 100% satisfied with his product and service. I had a slight problem with the safety doors to my gas insert after the manufacturer's warranty had expired. Brent had the doors repainted at his own expense and finished the product in time for my 1 year old granddaughter's visit.
