Cute coffee shop in West Town! Cool minimalist design and laid back atmosphere. Fun tunes playing in the background. They also have a record player and sell vinyl. Spacious interior and large tables in the back. Smaller tables available by the window. I loved my bright window seat! It's a relaxed place to catch up with a friend and get some work done. I ordered two of the specials: coconut matcha, and cold brew colada. I found the coconut matcha to be really smooth and refreshing. The cold brew colada was really interesting and tasted just like a piña colada. It was a little too sweet for me but I'm glad I tried it. They have some breakfast and lunch food items, such a breakfast sandwiches, empanadas, and pastries. I'll try some next time. Open everyday from 7am-3pm. Right off the blue line at Division. Quick recap: Great place to sit down, sip coffee, and work! I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quiet for the most part. The coffee shop has great seating options (tables and one sofa) with free WiFi and one bathroom. I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and it was good but not mind blowing. This is my personal taste and I would prefer a tad more vanilla in it. Also, they have some bites like empanadas and pastries. I got a vegan coconut curry empanada and it was delicious! My partner got a hot vanilla latte with oat milk and almond croissant. I would definitely come here again since they have a good work space! read more

Engine Coffee is a great coffee spot in Wicker Park. They have great coffee and they have a great selection of empanadas to choose from. It's a pretty popular spot I noticed people coming and going picking up their order. The staff were friendly and coffee and empanadas were great. read more

I love their seasonal lattes and tacos/empanadas from cafe tola! I got the seasonal spicy latte iced with oat milk and a vegan coconut curry empanada. The spicy latte was perfectly balanced, not too sweet and not too spicy. The coconut curry empanada is a fusion of flavors, it reminds me of a samosa since there's potatoes and chickpeas but the sweetness of the coconut curry makes it feel a little Thai. Their steak and egg tacos are also really big for a taco and taste super fresh. Note that they get the cafe tola empanadas/tacos delivered in the morning and may run out if you go later in the day. Also if you go too early they may not have received the shipment yet. They have nice indoor seating with two tables at the window to people watch. Service is always friendly and they're dog friendly too. read more

Great coffee. I had an iced americano and it was rich and smooth. Great music... had fun listening to things like Joy Division, New Order, Book of Love, Talking Heads, Duran Duran and many more. Chocolate Chip cookie was yummy and soft. Atmosphere is cool/hip, but a bit sparse. Even with art it has a bit of a black/white vibe. Not sure what it needs.... maybe a bit more color. I also hate the metal chairs (you know the ones where you don't quite fit and the back digs into your sides). But they are efficient. Easy street parking. Would definitely come back. read more

Breakfast tacos, empanadas, and a solid offering of pastries along with straightforward coffee and espresso. What more could you ask for? Love the minimalist decor and great tunes. They weren't spinning any vinyl but it was fun to see their record player and collection. And who can resist that cute logo? I was here early Sunday morning so it was quiet, but picked up a bit after. Folks were bringing their dogs in to get a treat at the counter . The space looks small but actually has a fair amount of seating, both inside and out. Next time I'm in Chicago, will definitely be back. read more

This instantly became one of my favorite coffee shops in Chicago! They offer a great selection of beans (from Metric), and I really enjoyed both the pour-over and flat white. We were out for a walk on Ashland with the pup's and found ourselves outside Engine Coffee. Yay! Appropriately named because our engines needed a boost! Engine Coffee was just what the doctor ordered! We ordered two large lattes and a breakfast burrito. The lattes were hot and delicious! They use Big Shoulders Coffee here and their preparation was fantastic! So tasty. The breakfast burrito we ordered was hot and included egg, cheese, and bacon. Such a nice combination with the latte and gave us fuel for continuing our walk. We really enjoyed our first visit to Engine Coffee and will definitely return in the future. read more

Wow! Engine Coffee is the real deal! Located in a cute storefront in the West Town? UK Village neighborhoods, this small spot offers big customer service and an even bigger heart. As I walked up, a man looking down on his luck was in front of the building. The guy working inside came out and asked him if he would like a cup of coffee. That just warmed by heart to see such gracious kindness. Once inside, the room has vintage charm in an uncluttered way. Old hardwood floors, high urban loft ceilings and several seating options to choose from. We ended up sitting up in the elevated front window. It was great for people watching with a lot of sunshine too. My son loved his cappuccino and my oat mile latte was delicious. They were rich and smooth, just the way I prefer my coffee.My son picked up some pastries to bring home and later told me he enjoyed them as well. I will definitely return! read more

I have been to engine many times as it is in my neighborhood and I have always received great service. However this morning I ordered a drink and it took 46 minutes from ordering to walking out of the door. I don't know what the hold up was. I understand waiting 15 minutes for a drink because I realize that this is a place I go to in order to get quality coffee beverages but 46 minutes took almost an hour out of my day waiting with little explanation of when to expect my latte. I want to reiterate that in the past I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences here but today I was very disappointed and I wish I would've known before ordering that it would take that long. read more

Happens to also be by Fire Engine 42, and they stick to the theme throughout the experience, from the large hydrant up front to the red metal decor. They serve Big Shoulders Coffee and a variety of Chicago favorites such as pastries and BIF Cheese. Owners are very nice and best of all they are laptop worker friendly with lots of outlets, fast wifi and non-judgy attitude. New coffee shop and I have to say, it's super nice and the coffee taste great! I've had their iced americano and iced mocha and both were great!
