Fried shrimp
Krist D.

Go here for the Chilean sea bass and $9 high noons if you are in the area. The fresh baked rolls were delicious and hot out of the oven. If you like a noisy bustling bar scene this the the place! It was very loud and very busy. Several birthdays were being celebrated and the Yankees game was on in the background. There was music which was difficult to hear until several surrounding parties departed. Our waitress took forever to come to our table and our water glasses were often left empty. Our calamari came out without marinara and by the time we got the sauce 30 min later the food was cold so we couldn't eat it. The fried shrimp were good and the calamari was cooked perfectly just wish we had the marinara to start with and we probably didn't need both fried appetizers. The garden side salad was typical with two cherry tomatoes and two cucumbers and good with ranch dressing. I had the lobster, scallops and shrimp in vodka sauce over linguini and my hub had the chillian sea bass. Mine was too heavy and we switched halfway through. His fish and light and flakey and I liked it. Overall a decent meal but for the prices there are better options that I prefer. I suppose if you are staying in the hotel or walking distance to the area it might be worth a trip back.

Sandy toes and good cocktails

Have stayed here before and love the outdoor pool and sand bar area. Listened to Live music and it gave us beach access. Lbi distillery cocktails that are really great, a new local distillery to check out opening in March 2024

Tiny piece of Key lime pie -- not even as long as a very small desert fork and 2" wide for $10 ?!?!

The sea bass portion was minuscule -- more like 2 fish sticks at just over 3.5" long and less than ¾" thick. While it tasted fine it was definitely NOT worth $42. The key lime pie was also tiny -- not even as long as a very small desert fork and about 2" wide or so. It was absolutely NOT worth the exorbitant price of $10 that they charged for it. We have visited the Engleside quite often over the many years we have been coming to LBI and this is honestly the first time we have felt totally and completely disappointed and quite honestly taken advantage of by price gouging. We won't return and that makes us sad as they used to be one of our go to and most enjoyed restaurants.

We love the Engelside for their sushi bar. Great spot with amazing service. Ray and John are the best!

Fantastic sushi. Clearly the best on the Island. Ray serves it up with Charm. Linda and Dave behind the bar are wonderful.

We had the lobster bake which had a mountain of clams and muscles. It could have used some broth in the bowl to keep from drying out. The lobster was very juicy. I had the broiledseafood combo. While the crab cake was outstanding the flounder, scallops and shrimp were overly dry. Lastly, the garlic Dungeness crabs - the menu description is spot on - get dirty with this one. Take the bib and have plenty of napkins on hand! Very garlic forward in a good way. Everyone talked about the ranch dressing, not sure what the hype is. It's definitely better with the balsamic opposed to separately. Love the overall atmosphere and will be back.

The bar service was fantastic despite how busy they were, the bartenders were friendly and seemingly happy to help. A pleasant surprise to other establishments that can get as busy as this restaurant. It took a while to get seated, but to be fair, we had no reservations and a larger party. Carly was our server and she did awesome for the how many tables she was juggling. The food was excellent but could have come out a little faster. All in all a great place, we'd come back for sure.

Hmmm, this is a tough review. The owners are unfriendly and very indifferent to their customers…read more Also noticed that they were a bit tough on their young staff. Lastly, expensive. Two kids chicken fingers and two adults meals came to $115. That said, the food is tasty. John's blushing shrimp and the mahi over street corn were both very good. Mussels were good too but when we ordered bread for dipping, it was a $3 hamburger roll. Clam strips were standard. Atmosphere is just ok as the place sits right on the boulevard. The loud music over the speakers didn't help either. But, the property/dining areas are very well maintained and relatively nice for a casual fish market. If money isn't a concern and you plan to eat it on your own deck, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I'd go somewhere where customers are appreciated.

Extremely disappointing experience at Beach Haven Fishery…read more I placed an order tonight totaling $274 and was presented with a receipt that showed conflicting cash totals ($274 and then $283). I paid with cash: one $100 bill, three $50 bills, two $20 bills, and one $10 bill, for a total of $300. I was handed only $6 in change. I walked out, realized the math didn't add up, and immediately went back inside. The owner, John, insisted, "No, you gave me $280." I felt uncomfortable and left. A family member then went back in to explain that I had been shorted $20. Instead of trying to resolve the situation, John reportedly responded, "You think I need your $20?" and refused to address it. I've lived on LBI year-round for over 40 years and have supported local businesses my entire life. Whether it was an honest mistake or not, the way this situation was handled was incredibly disappointing. I will not be returning.
