I called to ask if they are available and to get a quote. I said the words "simple event" and the lady got so triggered, she started to yell and curse at me. She has MAJOR anger management problems. If the owner is reading this, you should make sure whoever answers your phone doesn't continue to sabotage your business.... I've never been so taken back by someone's behavior. It's been over a week since I've voiced my disappointment for my missed appointment with Megan at my venue 2 Saturdays ago. I wanted to give them some time get back to me before I wrote this review but since it doesn't look like I'm going to get a response, here goes: I am planning my San Francisco wedding from southern CA and made arrangements to meet with a couple of lighting vendors at my venue while I was in town to get price quotes. I worked with Crystal weeks before visit to set the meeting - being from out of town, I only make the trip up north every 6-8 weeks and wanted to maximize my time and meet with as many potential vendors as possible. The week before our set meeting, I reached out to Crystal to confirm our time for 10am that Saturday (although I thought it should have been the other way around since I was the potential client). She responded yes, and that Megan would meet me at the hotel. I gave her my phone number to call me if anything came up. Saturday arrives and we are in the lobby with the hotel coordinator and my wedding planner (who both had other commitments that day but made the time to meet with us since we are from out of town). Fifteen minutes go by and we decide to go ahead and start walking the space anyway since this was my Planner's first time at the venue. By the time we are done at ten to 11am, there's still no sign of Megan, or a phone call to let us know she wasn't coming. I emailed Crystal that same day and got a note back on Tuesday (they are closed Mondays). The response I got was that they had 6 events to set up that Saturday and Megan "completely forgot". Ummmm, NOT ACCEPTABLE. I called Crystal to let her know how disappointed we were that they had just forgotten about us and that I could have scheduled an appointment with another vendor had I known they were not going to come. She was apologetic and told me that they could do a visit with the venue without me, to which I responded OK. I asked them to coordinate with the hotel directly (I wasn't about to waste any more time for them if they weren't going to come through for me) and let me know. It's been a week and they haven't gotten back to me, nor has my hotel contact reached out to inform me that a meeting with this vendor is on the books. This leads me to believe that Enhanced Lighting will not be proactive in gaining my business and therefore, I will not make any more efforts to give my business to them. Final word, even though this vendor was referred to me by two different people, their service is not fool-proof a (unless maybe you are planning your wedding locally). My advice to destination brides getting hitched in the Bay is to find someone else to work with because they obviously don't value our limited time. read more

Enhanced Lighting's work is great. What drapery can do to a place is really surprising. We had them add colored drapery to our ceremony site (to hide two head busts) and then add lanterns, more drapery and lighting to our reception site. All of it did come together well and made the night feel and look fabulous. I definitely do not doubt their work or their capabilities. The only thing I have to say though is that the day of our wedding, they were 15 minutes late in setting up for the ceremony and were about 45 minutes late in taking down the decor at the reception due to a final end time miscommunication. And when the guys came to take down lights, drapery and lanterns, they didn't bring a ladder and actually asked the restaurant manager that night if he had a ladder. Now, these were the same guys who set up everything so they should have known and brought their ladder back! As a result, the lanterns stayed up overnight and the next day, the team had to come and take everything down. 3 stars because we did voice our complaints and did get remittance which we appreciate. I would hire them again, but I would make sure all the details (i.e. start and end times) have been clarified. read more

Enhanced Lighting lit up the venue for our wedding this past weekend, Villa Montalvo. The Villa is a 1920's era mansion that was the residence for one of California's Senators. It hasn't been updated significantly, meaning that it's very dark at night. Enhanced Lighting lit the place up so that all the beautiful architectural details came out during dinner and dancing and they did an amazing job. The colors were rich and warm, and complemented our theme colors perfectly. They knew we wanted things kept relatively simple - no lasers, no monograms floating across the dance floor, just lighting on the arches, trees and fountains. The Villa's Event Coordinator was concerned that the huge number of lights might overload the Villa's old electrical system, but they worked an arrangement out that kept us from having any problems, and they kept someone on site for the entire evening just to make sure everything was all right. In the middle of the night, John who stayed on site changed the lighting of the upper stories of the Villa to a stunning blue as a surprise for us. The wedding in general was a big blur to me, but one image that remains in my mind is how great the venue looked with the lighting. Safety is obviously a big deal to them - the can lights were all protected with a shield and the cords were all meticulously fastened down with tape to prevent accidents. I admit I was a skeptic at first, but lighting really does make a huge difference when you have an interesting old venue like this one. Enhanced Lighting exceeded my expectations and I recommend their professionalism and expertise. read more

I absolutely LOVE Enhanced Lighting. We used them for a charity event last week at One Leidesdorff and John couldn't have been more amazing to work with. Lighting actually wasn't something we had thought through in our initial planning for the event and John came in for the rescue. He knew the venue like the back of his hand and knew exactly what we needed to make it look (even more) beautiful. He showed up super early to make sure everything was set up in time for the event (while everyone else that was in charge of set-up, myself included, seemed to be running behind!) Now that I look back, I'm realizing that it wouldn't have been the same event at all without Enhanced Lighting. He was able to cover all our bases- 2 projectors to showcase our slideshow on the wall, a light to highlight the stage, uplights around the entire room-- I know that lighting makes a difference with events but the before/after from what we had planned to what the final product ended up being was amazing. I'm going to recommend them to all my events industry contacts. One Leidesdorff already has draping but he mentioned that's another service they provide, in case we needed it for future events at alternate venues. My husband and I spent a great deal of time planning our "destination" wedding back in 2010. We live in LA, but had our wedding in SF due to our families. Although, we drove up to SF as much as we could to meet with vendors, our days were limited and time was precious. Each vendor-meet had to be quick and efficient. Enhanced Lighting was one of those vendors that we felt super comfortable with from the moment we met Megan. Admittedly, we did not spend a lot of time planning the lighting. Our coordinator helped with the process and took us to the Enhanced Lighting showroom to pick out lighting designs. It was easy peasy and Megan helped us in choosing the right design for our theme. Megan and her staff were very nice and offered their suggestions with the many options. Lighting was something that we didn't consider too important until the day of our wedding when we finally saw how lighting totally transformed what was usually a plain restaurant. Even the staff commented that it was like a whole new place. Never has a Chinese restaurant looked so dramatic. We underestimated the importance of lighting and will highly recommend Enhanced Lighting & Sound to transform any event. read more

Enhanced Lighting did a fabulous job at our wedding. Megan and Crystal were great to work with in person. Megan gave some very good suggestions, and are very responsive in showing us how the color would look, even comparing between the normal uplights and LED lights. Our reception was at Yank Sing. We had pin spot lighting for the sweetheart table and cake table and amber uplights for the pillars and the dessert bar in the back. We also had a fuschia wash for the waterfall and more fuschia uplights for the raise areas. The draping was behind the raised area only. This all made the room look warm and vibrant at the same time. The lighting was what really gave the venue the "wow" factor. I don't think our guests know that we included the extra lighting, but they appreciated the ambiance of the place. We got compliments way after the wedding ended. With all that said, here are the pros and cons of working with Enhanced: Pros: - Very responsible. Megan showed up to the venue herself to make sure that things went well. She is very conscientious to make sure that the colors and how things turned out would look exactly (or as close as humanly possible) to what the couple wanted. It's very much appreciated. - Very flexible. She did not give us a hard time about changing venues. When we changed venues, we had to plan the decorations all over, as the venues are both very different. Megan worked with us and made it happen. - Accommodating. On the wedding day, my husband asked to add uplights around the dessert bar. Megan did not hesitate, just told her people to add it. Cons: - We were waiting for pictures that never came. Although understood that they might not have it, it's nice to have pictures when they say they would provide it. Overall: I completely recommend Enhanced Lighting for your big day! read more

Enhanced Lighting was recommended to us by our wedding coordinator, Crystal Lequang of Amazae Special Events (www.amazaespecialevents.com). John, Julio, and the rest of their team did an amazing job with our ceremony room and reception room. Lighting makes a huge difference! The ceremony room had a very intimate, candle lit feel that was perfect and exactly what we were going for. We also had a simple tree-like gobo pattern in both rooms that worked out well with our fall theme. And both rooms had doors that were draped by Enhanced Lighting. The chocolate brown drapes had beautiful tassels tied around them, and the drapes definitely added another layer of texture to the room, making it very elegant. The reception room had pin spots on every table that were not blinding to guests like I have seen other lighting companies do. The pin spots were subtle and made photographs even more beautiful. We also had lanterns hung over the dance floor. We thought we were going to get standard round paper lanterns - to our surprise, when we saw the reception room, the lanterns were intricate and ornate lanterns that emitted a very nice glow. They helped up find other vendors since we were planning everything on our own, which makes it very hard. We had a feeling they would do good, but we didn't expect how amazing they would transform the space we chose at The Old Mint in San Francisco. Note: I was a guest at the event, so I did not personally hire Enhanced Lighting. My experience at the party was fantastic, due in large part to the lighting of the Exploratorium. Each zone of the Exploratorium had a different vibe yet it was seamless at the same time. Not enough people take the time to write a positive review when they receive good honest customer service from a business, it's usually the other way around, people will only take the time to write a negative one star review when something goes bad. With that said, my fiancee and I are getting married in September and we already were in design stages with a competing company. I've never done lighting for a big event before so when I saw the prices I wasn't sure if they were high or that's just how much things cost. I decided to call Enhanced Lighting because they had good reviews on Yelp for a second opinion and I was lucky enough to speak with one of their representatives Crystal. I just want to say Crystal was really nice, attentive and after I explained my situation to her she was able to give me a truthful and honest answer. She wasn't trying to pressure me to switch companies or talk bad about the other company. She just answered my questions straight up and really helped me. I really appreciate businesses and people who take the time to help others, even if they aren't going to profit. That means a lot to me, hence why I took the time to write this positive review for Enhanced Lighting. I'm going to stick with my original company since I've already been working with them for a few months, but I will be sure to contact Enhanced Lighting for any future needs I may have. read more

Lighting changes everything. For a wedding it is what makes the "wow - factor". I worked with Megan & Crystal for my wedding at the Flood Mansion on 11-11-11. I am a New Yorker and planning from the East coast was difficult A) not knowing much about San Francisco and B) not knowing much about Vendors in San Francisco. Crystal & Megan put together a proposal that fit perfectly in my budget. They even discounted me a bit to meet my needs. On one of my visits I was able to set up a consultation to see exactly what my lights would look like. They were great in answering all my questions and making me feel like I could trust their team. In design meetings, I got to get an idea through pictures and words of how the event would turn out, but seeing it on the wedding day was a totally different experience. Julio Lujan and the enhanced lighting team did an amazing job. The lighting totally set the mood for the ceremony and reception. It added great depth and color to the room. Certain elements would pop out and photos turn out spectacularly. After learning and listening to wedding professionals, they always talk about lighting and how it affects the look of the event. Enhanced Lighting is more like enhanced pain in the ass. They were single-handedly the worst vendor we had assist us with our wedding earlier this fall. After working with their lighting designer, Kate, late in the summer on a lighting plan for our wedding venue, signing a contract and making a deposit, we thought all systems were go. My fiancée sent our final payment two weeks prior to our event along with an email and got not response whatsoever. Another email to the lighting designer to confirm that she had received our check went unanswered...hmmm. We finally decided to call them the Thursday before our event that Saturday only to be told that the lighting designer we had been working with had left Enhanced Lighting. Further conversation indicated that they had NO RECORD of our contract for our event TWO DAYS AWAY and had the nerve to second guess whether or not we had sent our final payment. WTF?! The woman on the phone, Crystal, actually had my fiancée read back to her what equipment we had on the contract and then later found our check in a stack of unopened mail! While it was not on our agenda, we offered to go to their offices to straighten out the arrangements, but decided against it once she assured us that they would show up for our event. She made feeble attempts to appease us by offering additional lighting (pattern for our dance floor or spotlight over our cake), but outside of a refund of cold hard cash, we were not interested. To their credit, the lights were installed beautifully, however, we learned from the venue coordinator, the day we were leaving for our honeymoon, that they took an hour longer to break down after the event and therefore we had to be charged for the extra hour out of our rental deposit. Not exactly what you want to hear... When we returned from our honeymoon, we spoke with Megan and she was apologetic and agreed that she would refund the extra charge back to us, but even that took 3 weeks. All in all, a pretty lousy experience. I understand employees come and go, but perhaps Enhance Lighting should be more proactive in letting their clients know where they stand, instead of having them chase them down hours before their event. read more

We hired Enhanced Lighting for our wedding back in 2009 (I know, a bit overdue) but I just wanted to sing their praises for an amazing job on our lighting. We had lanterns over the dance floor (which everyone raved about) and blue floor lighting to match our color scheme all around the banquet room and surrounding lobby. Didn't even see Julio and his team because they worked closely with our wedding coordinator and made our special day even less stressful. Everything on the day went without a hitch. However, the customer service prior to our wedding was a lacking. It was always hard to get ahold of Julio and I swore we were getting ripped off because I hadn't heard from him for over a week when we sent in our deposit. A bride's worse nightmare! However, after some calls and emails I did get a response back and everything was rolling again. Unfortunately, Julio didn't realize that I was already a customer one time that I called and quoted their prices right off the bat. Which, by the way, were cheaper than the prices I was originally quoted. When I called him out he basically tried to get out of giving me the lower prices. Luckily for him, I don't back down very easily. He ended up throwing in a few more items for free and we called it even. I originally thought it was pretty shady but thank goodness they delivered on the day of our wedding. A word to the wise for those considering using Enhanced Lighting. We recently got married on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 1 Fort Mason. Given that the venue had very little light at night, we decided to book Enhanced Lighting. They were very professional throughout the planning processing. The uplighting (golden amber wash) was great especially after the sun set. Our custom gobo turned out exactly as we requested. I got married at the Legion of Honor which is a beautiful museum in the outer Richmond area. The reception was in their cafe which in contrast to the museum can be a little drab. My fiancee and I decided to splurge on lighting for our wedding to transform the room. We chose a beautiful golden amber wash for the room with a leaf and vine pattern on the dance floor to match the motif on our cake and invitations. The results were spectacular and everyone raved about how amazing the room looked. I know most people don't think of having lighting at a wedding but to me it is as crucial as the flowers and linens, nothing can make your wedding as spectacular as having the perfect lighting. I hired Enhanced lighting for my wedding at the Four Seasons Palo Alto. I have to say that if I didn't have them, my wedding would NOT have been as amazing as it was! They took a "great" wedding into an "OMG AMAZING" wedding! I worked closely with John who really took time to understand my many of wishes (I'm a total control when it came to the design of my wedding). They made custom eggplant drapes for my entry, chocolate drapes for my reception and white drapes for my lounge dancing area. They even had a crew of gals that solely worked on designing the draping for my ceremony "chuppas" style stage. They did my lighting and had washes exactly where I wanted them and even helped the florist to hang chandliers and light them for me. I feel they were extremely professional and executed what they promised they would deliver. I know there are other lighting companies out there that are good too, who can walk into a room and know exactly how to light it to make it look great. But I feel that Enhanced Lighting has a style where they are very personable which means that they will try to customize your look to how you want it; or at least they did that for me. I recently hired Enhanced Lighting for a huge networking event for the wedding industry this past week. I needed up lighting and a spot light for a ballerina dance group and opera singer. Also needed a very elegant pipe n drape that matched the colors of my event. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent! We hosted our son's bar mitzvah ceremony at DogPatch wine works and wanted to transform their space (which admittedly is already pretty cool) into a more intimate, spiritual space. Enhanced Lighting came highly recommended to us and did not disappoint. They did an amazing job with drapes, light, and sound changing an industrial space into a spiritual setting in which we held a bar mitzvah ceremony. The lighting really made a difference and was so well done. Brandon, their sound person, was AMAZING--worked flawlessly and unnoticeably (to the audience) in terms of making sure the various microphones were working, and we had a guitarist as well. Their service was AMAZING and they adjusted to anything that we needed with a smile. The cost is reasonable, and they were able to set up without a hitch plenty of time (hours) ahead of the event. Enhanced Lighting delivered a fantastic lighting decor experience for our backyard Woodside wedding last year, including swagged fabrics/draping, lighting, and sound/AV. They are highly professional and setup/breakdown was executed seamlessly. They were also accommodating of unique requests. We did not hire a DJ, but rather created a music video playlist on YouTube Red for our dance party to save money. They provided a sound tech to manage the list throughout the dance party who did a fantastic job. They are also easy and prompt in their communications, so iterating on lighting themes leading up to the wedding was a breeze. We were unsure as to whether lighting was necessary, but we now know it makes a HUGE difference in setting the ambiance for an event. My husband and I really wanted our cocktail area and reception to have a lounge-like feel and Enhanced Lighting went above and beyond to create that vibe for us. When we walked into our reception we were blown away by how amazing the space looked. Julio listened to all of our concerns and really delivered what we wanted.
