I can not rate the business because I used Ian when he worked for another training company. I have read the reviews here and the negatives seem to be about how the new business is being run and NOT about Ian's ability as a trainer. Hopefully Ian reads the reviews and fixes those parts of the business that are causing negative reviews. MY STORY: We adopted a rescue dog (a 80 lbs. Chow) and gets overly excited and therefore no one else wanted it. When we first got her it was difficult for me and impossible for my wife to walk the dog. Although it was funny to watch the dog pull my wife around the neighborhood, something had to be done. We called a company and Ian came over and spent about 15 minutes talking with us about the dog and about us. He asked us what we wanted to accomplish. He then took the dog on a 10 minute walk by himself. When he came back we all went for a walk and I was amazed we had a new dog. Our dog was walking behind him and was constantly looking at Ian for direction. Ian then let us walk the dog and show us how to hold the leash and to correct the dog. Within a couple more visits our dog was exercising on a treadmill and retrieving beers from the fridge for me (kidding on this one.) I will say you will have to continue to be consistent with the dog. Dogs are very smart and will want to follow a leader, the problem is when we forget to be that leader. Good luck Ian with the business and please fix the issues raised by others so you can continue helping other dogs.

They charge to use a credit card. (Most businesses have learned how to incorporate credit charges into their pricing). Lastly, they struggle explain their pricing structure. A bath is $65 dollars but if you get a bath, cut the nails and get a full haircut it's $75.

The convenient Wheaton location of the facility is great for daycare and they also allow for half-day daycare too. Very flexible scheduling. When I pick my dog up, I can tell that she's received personalized attention from the staff and that she has been well cared for. Often she's been able to work one-on-one with a staff member for nearly all of her half-day session. We also attend the group classes which are incredibly unique and let my dog build up practice interacting with other dogs in a way that reinforce new, good behaviors. My neighbors are thrilled with the progress almost as much as I am - my dog no longer automatically barks at everyone outside now and is able to make new friends. The in home training we did originally was incredibly valuable to get us started on the right foot. We need to do that again very soon! Is it the least expensive daycare and/or training in the area? No. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. When I leave my dog in the care of The Canine's Voice I know that she's going to be safe, loved, and will learn a few things while she's there. Thunder took my dog and my moms dog after a few aggressive fights between them. It was a hard decision to let our 4 month old Iggy pup go to someone for 2 full weeks of board and…read moretrain, especially after falling so hard for our little guy named Kenny Beans! After speaking with several training programs, visiting some, and prayerfully considering what the right choice should be Madi Potts helped make our choice easy. Before we would trust anyone with our little 7.5 lb boy, we had to get a sense of one's heart. My husband and I were not looking for someone who could simply "control dogs" or "make them obey commands". We wanted someone who had a heart for dogs to have better lives with structure, less fear, and longevity due to possibilities that came with what training offered. My first inquiry call with Madi was pretty long, if I recall right. She was patient, understanding of my many questions, and willing to talk as long as I needed to feel she was safe to go to next step with. We started with a 90 min at home training session to see first hand and understand how she would personally be as a trainer with Beans. That training was stressful and also a relief as we believed we found the right person to entrust our boy to. When the day came for him to be picked up, both my husband and I were crying. It wasn't just about trusting a new person to take care of Beans, it was also the resurfaced grief of losing our whippet girl of 11 years just a few months prior. The "what ifs" where overwhelming, but we agreed we were moving forward. Madi also saw our "anguish" if you want to call it that. She quickly said she typically doesn't give an update for the first 24-48 hours but she would update us that evening. To her word, we got a picture of beans at the park and our hearts settled a bit. Throughout the two weeks, Madi was wonderful about keeping us up to date and answering questions as needed or as we annoyed her (lol we might have been a little over the top haha) She never hesitated to share and ensure our boy was learning, and struggling in some areas, but overall doing great. Now that he is back with us, we have already had one of our follow up appointments and are so thankful Madi was who helped us with Beans. He was so happy to see her and made her say goodbye before leaving (even though he was supposed to "stay", lol). Training is still a ongoing work daily, Beans still doesn't love his crate but is accepting he is safe and it's ok to not see us 24/7 (Italian greyhounds are Velcro dogs to the max!) This was an emotional, time, and financial investment that we continue to place priority on. I know many will say do not board and train an Iggy, but for our family, giving him and us the tools to have a successful life together was important. We did our due diligence and don't regret our decision. Actually we are extremely grateful we found Madi and Suburban K9. When she left after our last follow up session she looked at Beans, gave him a scratch and said "I love you". I have no doubt she does, for that I am thankful. It is my hope everyone will find someone as knowledgeable and kind hearted toward an animals as Madi is. Thank you Suburban K9 for helping us learn puppy manners with Madi. We are forever grateful. Brought my bunny with an ear infection to this vet. After aggressively rubbing bunny's ears and…read moretook in back to clean ears, then sent me away with ear drops, as soon as I got home, bunny was off balance, bobbing head up and down and off balance trying to hop. I brought bunny back the next day and this vet took no accountability for potentially be aggressive with bunny ears. First visit charged over $250 and I fought with them to in good faith refund or offer credit for ear drops I was now directed to stop using. This vet is only concerned with over charging. Next day they fought with me at front desk and was refusing to issue my credit for the meds that they agreed to credit because we didn't bring the meds back to them for the credit which is very odd because normally any other vet does not want you to bring Meds back for credit because legally, they cannot take the meds back. They were trying to get me to pay an additional $140 for next day check and we actually had to demand that they give us our bunny back. They were trying to not give us our bunny back because of the fact that they owed us a credit and would not give it to us without the medication in hand. My daughter had to drive all the way back home and then all the way back to give them back the eardrops in order for them to issue my credit and then all of a sudden they added an additional medication onto my bill, charging me over $90 After the credit, when they told me earlier that all I had to owe them for that next day visit was a little over $40. The bottom line is that this veterinary practice took no accountability whatsoever for creating an additional either inner ear, or neurological problem by the aggressive treatment to my bunny ears. I will never go back to this place and I hope that this is a message for those that might be using this vet for exotic pets in particular.
