For our main course, I ordered the Baked Eggplant with a side of pasta and it was delicious... My friend ordered the baked mostaccioli and he really liked it . Both orders arrived hot and were large portions... enough that we were able to bring some home for lunch the next day. Don't fall asleep on Enrico's. It's been around for 50 years, and once occupied a larger space on the very busy corner of LaGrange Avenue and Rt. 30 in Frankfort, IL. There's plenty of competition in this area, and when they moved to the smaller, cozier spot they occupy now, I kinda forgot about them. Shame on me because we recently had a wonderful meal on a very crowded Friday evening. Granted, the space itself is pretty small, but we got there at 5:30 and waited about 20 minutes for a table for 3. Happy to report that it was worth the wait. Our server Kahleah was prompt, friendly and attentive, so our service was very good. We ordered a bottle of Italian wine and began tackling their pretty expensive menu. My wife settled on the Friday special of Sautéed Lake Perch, I went with the Garlic Shrimp and Linguini with a bowl of the Clam Chowder and my mother had their famous Baked Minestrone soup and the Italian Street Tacos off the Appetizer menu. All of our food was absolutely delicious. My shrimp were huge, and perfectly cooked. My wife's perch was very light, flaky and delicious. Both of the soups were hearty and perfectly seasoned and the Italian Street Tacos were really flavorful, and a creative twist on a taco. As I mentioned earlier, there are plenty of dining options in this area, and probably 4-6 other Italian restaurants alone within a 10 mile radius. I've been to most of these places, and I would argue that Enrico's could be the best of them all when it comes to atmosphere, service, value, quality and overall taste of their food. If I could give them negative stars, I would. Enrico's used to be a favorite of our for many years. They have gone completely downhill in the last few years. We dined in a couple of months ago and the quality was poor. This is the second year in a row that we ordered from them on Christmas Eve and the second time we waited for OVER AN HOUR PAST OUR PICKUP TIME for our catering order. This was our first time trying Enrico's. We did carry out. That process was super smooth and easy. They brought it right to our car in front. Just a little disappointed to find out when we got home they forgot to give us the two added meatballs to our pasta. That was the one thing my son wanted to have for dinner. When she served our meals we asked about our salads and she then brought them after our meals were served. This is for carry outs and used to be decent, but lately not so. Two times I have tried the spinach manicotti and both times found it lacking. It seems they are premade in tins then frozen. Both times sauce was lacking to the point of non existent. This caused the shells to be hard on the ends and a glob of melted cheese on top. Went out to Enrico's tonight for dinner and they had broiled catfish actually charcoal grilled catfish on the menu. The waitress asked me what side I wanted with it. When I said minestrone, she said I couldn't have that that would be I'd have to order that as a separate item by then, so how about pasta and could I have the whole wheat pasta they advertised and she said yeah but there's sausage cheese in it and I'm allergic to cheese so I can suck can't you just do it with olive oil and garlic it should all yeah, we could do that Well they brought me out the catfish which was delicious and the pasta just plain nothing on it no olive oil no nothing it was a very disappointing meal and I won't go back there. It was a weeknight and we were short on time and didn't want to make the drive to Orland. We tried a few of their dishes and pizza. We did not love any of our food. It was just ok. The fettuccine was the best I've had in a long time. The fried perch looked delicious. The baked mostaccioli was very good too. All of the food was large quantities. The filet is amazing. The chicken marsala is great. Their homemade creamy garlic dressing and balsamic vinaigrette is to die for. We were a party of eight, and each of us was thrilled with our feast - because there is no better word for the abundant, luscious food we were served. I had pasta pollo and it was perfection to die for. The sumptuous creamy three-cheese sauce on properly al dente fettuccine was beautifully accompanied by chicken, prosciutto, spinach, and the delicious extra I ordered, sautéed mushrooms. It was difficult to not gorge ourselves on the superb garlic bread. My companions eat here for nearly every special occasion in their lives as well as other times. Their favorites include baked mostaccioli, eggplant Parmesan, spinach manicotti, lasagna, Italian beef, the housemade fennel sausage, and the excellent pizza. The bruschetta and onion soup as starters were both delectable, and the spumoni and cookies were a lavish ending that no one could resist despite our full and happy stomachs. Just very...blah and not like the original Enrico's at all. In town visiting my parents and was so excited for some awesome Enrico's pasta and garlic bread. I remember this food being soooooo good. We got a baked mostaccioli, a healthy chicken and veg pasta, and side salads. The salads were awful. The lettuce mix was brown and just looked sad, brown, dried out and dead. My mom did not like the chicken pasta at all and kept trying to pawn it off on to my dad and me. That's on her though. Enrico's should be an opportunity to splurge (calorie wise) on delicious food! The mostaccioli was really dry and extremely light on meat sauce. The only good thing was the garlic bread. We hadn't ordered from here in a long time and, unfortunately, we were reminded why. The sadly mediocre food was one thing, but even more disturbing was the dining room full of eat in patrons!This was in December.
