The times we have sat in, it's always been very clean and the staff is so friendly & helpful :) The variety on the menu makes it easy for everyone to pick something they have a taste for. I had the absolute best hot beef sandwich I ever had and I have had my share of hot beef sandwiches for over 60 years. The beef was tender, great mashed potatoes and my server was the best. My wife and I visited Pepper Mill on February 1, 2024. Tye restaurant was clean and taken care of. We were immediately acknowledged after entering and seated within a couple minutes. I ordered the Turkey dinner which was recommended by friends. A couple and salad accompanied the meal and it was on special that evening. The soup I selected was cream of chicken rice. Tye flavor was good but I felt it needed to be thinned out. Salad was fresh and enjoyable. The Turkey dinner was thinly sliced from fresh Turkey breast. The meat was tasty and not dry. It was layered over stuffing that was lightly seasoned. I chose mashed potato's and steamed broccoli. The potatoes tasted like they were either from a box or a mix of boxed and fresh. The broccoli was fresh and cooked nice. The Turkey gravy was layered over the potato's and the Turkey. It was flavorful and seasoned nicely. My wife chose the Meatloaf and said it was good also. We both felt the price was reasonable and we would return. Our server was excellent and added to the experience. read more

I usually come here in the early afternoon for a late breakfast which has always been great! The waitresses have all been pretty impressive with their service and never fail to ask important questions like if you want cheese inside your Denver Omelette which MANY don't! The tables are always clean and the wall television is always on to watch the news if you don't have a newspaper. Their menu is varied and complete. If you have someone who's birthday is coming up, bring them here because they play Happy Birthday over the restaurant speakers and have a sparkler fountain they put inside the cake which really makes the occasion special for them! When I go to a restaurant for eggs, I ordered them an unusual way and most restaurants don't get it right I ordered two eggs scrambled well done covered so you can't find the eggs and well done grilled onions, but I want them brown. I don't want them clear this place gets it And I had a piece of dry wheat toast with it. I put honey on the toast cause I'm a nut and everything was terrific. They have good coffee. The waitress was nice. The bus was nice. I have no trouble giving this place of five star. read more

Met a friend here for breakfast recently. Interior was nothing special, its old and worn, but the place was clean. Upon first glance, I noticed one thing prevalent here that is, old people! Lots of them.. well that usually signals one thing either the food is really good, or the prices are pretty cheap. After dining here, I realized the food is pretty good. Prices are moderate. But the portions are generally decently sized. I had the Country Benedict - 2 biscuits with egg and sausage with gravy. It was excellent. My dining companion head chop steak and eggs and was very pleased with it. Service was good., coffee was decent. They only had regular creamer. No flavored creamer for us spoiled folks. But a decent stop. I don't get out this way often but I did stop to visit with a pal, but should I be in the area again? I would gladly stop for a moderately priced meal......You get good value for your buck here, as food is good, and the portions are nice. read more

After a busy day of errands, we stopped at Pepper Mill in Mokena for a late lunch. Our waitress Lisa was so very good. Very welcoming and interested in waiting on my husband and I. We had the roast beef club and the hot roast beef sandwich! Both came with soup. The owners are the chefs. We complimented our server, Lisa, and asked her to give our compliments to the chefs. This place is nice. Its a family atmosphere. With some old staples on the menu. I saw a Monte Cristo Sandwich on the menu as well as a Corned Beef sandwich. Its affordable with great servers who check up on you and make sure you are a happy. The food is good. It brought back childhood memories of going out to eat with my parents when I was a kid. Wow. Stopped for lunch today for my first visit ever, and decided to order one of their specials. Beef Stew. Soup and salad included. 5 different soup selections. How nice. I selected Stuffed Pepper, which was very good. Then came the salad, which was on the larger size. And get this... they actually use olive oil in their dressing, which is quite rare these days. Then the Beef Stew came. I knew immediately that there would be no way in hell I would be able to eat it all. Huge portion, but not in the traditional style. This was 6 generous 3/16 to 1/4 inch thick slices of beef on top of at least 2 cups of noodles covered with a generous portion of gravy mixed with a small amount of carrots. Very tender beef that I could cut with my fork. Very tasty. I'd guess that there was about 10-12 oz of beef altogether. All this for a grand total of $14.95 plus tax. Oh yes... This was another one of those random places I found as I was in the area and wanted a bite to eat. After locating the place on the Yelp App, I walked in and noticed a very comfortable atmosphere. But I'm back to make sure they get their 5-star. In their defense they offered to drive my fries over right away but was like na forget it. One of us got a Hamburger and it was well prepared with fries on the side. I had enchilada suiza and it was delicious. Both of us had French onion soup and it was very good. Had a piece of their apple pie and it was delicious. Overall, a very good size meal and reasonably priced. This is a good local diner and well patronized.
