The portion is huge I was not able to finish all the food. The price is very affordable. I love family restaurants and Ensenada is run by a mother and son duo. For lunch I had fresh albondigas soup and tacos, as recommended by the chef. The soup was fantastic: flavorable broth that wasn't too rich, tender meatballs, and fresh vegetables. The tacos were good - love the toasted corn tortillas and a very good, fresh and spicy. Let me start with the down side: we live in far west El Paso and this cafe is about as Far East as you can get and still be in EP. We found Ensenadas on Yelp when looking at options before a movie. When we spotted the hot lime green little "shack" we just had to try it. I'm so glad we did. From the moment we stepped inside we were showered with friendliness from the owner. He made sure we met mama who does the cooking-everything from scratch. My wife and I both had enchiladas Montadas and it was delicious. This is a delightful hole in the wall that I just wish was closer to home. Because of the distance we won't be able to visit often but whenever we are in the area we will drop in. This is a 4 star eatery with 5 star customer service. I have 2 (small) suggestions to bring the meal up to 5 stars: (1) we were provided a nice bowl of salsa on our table but no tortilla chips to dip into it. (2) as good as the food was, it wasn't as filling as I hoped. If they would add larger portions of beans and potatoes it would be awesome. To top off our visit the owner bragged about their pancakes and the gave us each one on the house to try. He was right and has every reason to be proud. They've been around since 1998 and any restaurant with that longevity has definitely made the grade. Absolutely worth it. read more

I had a very pleasant experience here. We were here for the weekend and stopped in for breakfast. We had more than four people with us, so they cleared a table being used for something else to put two together, so we could all sit together. That to me is going above and beyond. They could have made us wait until another table cleared up, but they didn't. I was impressed. The food was delicious! Everything was homemade. We had a variety from the menu, from huevos rancheros to blueberry pancakes and everything was perfect! Great service and great food! It doesn't get better than that! read more

Was looking for a place to have some breakfast before we went hiking, and we decided to stop in and try it out. The server was super friendly, helpful and eager to please. We wanted chilaquiles, and couldn't decide red or green so the server said he could do half and half. The beans were amazing, and we were able to substitute rice instead of potatoes without a problem. All in all, a great experience. We got to learn about the history of the restaurant, which has been open since 1998, which says a lot about the place especially here in El Paso.
