Combo #4 (Baja-style shrimp cocktail
Brenda D.

This is a very hard 4.5! The portions were great, great value meal, and the food was fresh! It was just missing something and I can't put my finger on it, nonetheless it was very satisfying! I'd be back to try the shrimp ceviche and fish tacos.

Shrimp Taco, chicken taco, al pastor taco
Rhea M.

Overall impression is to skip the meat tacos and stick with the seafood. I got the: Battered shrimp taco - crunchy and flavorful. The toppings complimented the fried shrimp beautifully as it added freshness with every bite. Al pastor - oily and I've had better elsewhere. Chicken - they use the same toppings for every taco and it just didn't work with the chicken. It was too acidic and overwhelmed the chicken flavor to the point I couldn't taste the chicken. I can see why the place is popular because for their meat tacos, they don't skimp on meat at all. The tortillas felt a little too oily for me, but that's personal preference. I'd come back for the battered shrimp tacos. Tables were kinda gross, but it's a counter ordering system so not unexpected. It's also super busy on week nights probably due to the deals they offer.

TLDR - Food is okay, service is good, parking is terrible, ambiance is good. Came during a semi-busy lunch rush and we got our food relatively fast. Tbh there's not much to complain about the food except for one thing. The fish is crispy, vegetables are fresh. However, there isn't much crema on the tacos as I would have liked and it leads to the taco feeling just a little too greasy. Overall I'd recommend you give it a try but beware that parking is pretty hard to find

3/28/26. Mixto Ceviche Tostada, shared with family

3/28/26. Hey, dad was hankering for this place & bugged my brother to take him. (Tacos San Pedro was their usual spot). Hubby & I went along for the ride. Dad treated!!! SCORE! This is a very rare occasion so I made sure I savored this. He also got me breakfast earlier. I'm saying that this is an absolute miracle. This restaurant has both indoor & outdoor seating. You order at the counter, pay & your number is called out for you to pick up your food. It's fairly clean, we stayed a bit outdoors & didn't see anyone wipe tables after each customer, so there's that. Staff is cordial, not the friendliest bunch but just not rude. Will this be the reason that I will NOT continue to patronize this place? Yes. That's a deal breaker, especially if the food is not exceedingly phenomenal. Dedicated free parking, steady influx of customers rolling in & out. Our order's turnaround time is pretty fast because the ceviche is already made & all they have to do is scoop some into a plate. Done. There's pickled onions, grilled yellow & jalapeño peppers, sliced lemons for customers to do self-serve at the front counter near the cashier. Soda fountain (Pepsi products ) also self-serve. The nephews got quesadillas, dad got a huge shrimp burrito, mom got fish tacos, the rest of us got ceviches & tostadas. Truthfully, the ceviche was good but a bit on the bland side, added lemon & some of the (in bottles) hot sauces to give it more flavor. Gotta admit, the portions are pretty big. As pictured, my mixto ceviche tostada was $15.99, it could've easily fed two people (we all ate some). This needed more zing. Overall, fair experience. Seating is first come first served. Had to secure seating when Hubby & I got there first.

The ceviche was definitely the fan favorite. Portions are decent so our tummies were full and happy. They provide an array of hot sauces to enjoy with your meal as well. Service was okay, they were quite busy in the evening so seating may be limited. It's a small area so parking was very limited.

Visited this weekend with my family. The overall experience was okay but we had a party of 4 and no one was super impressed. Everything was just okay (not bad by any means) the cost was high though. I wish the prices were more in line with the flavor and quality. They have lots of bottled salsa but none that are fresh. Also there was only lemon and no lime...

this place serves the biggest tacos i have ever seen in my life. we got the fried fish and fried shrimp tacos and they were pretty good! seasoning was fine but the batter could have been a little crispier in comparison to other places :') but these were seriously the biggest tacos ever so i would totally recommend this place especially during their happy hour!

I come here whenever I'm in the mood for a good fish taco. The standard one comes with fried fish, cabbage, pico de gallo, and drizzled with white sauce. I enjoy the shrimp ceviche has well. The portions are good and the service as good well. Make sure to stop by the condiment display to pack some chili peppers and pickled veggies to go with your meal.

Had the ceviche and it was god. My other half had fish and chips but grilled fish. Had a taste. Very good. Will try this for myself next visit

Once again, I forgot to take some pictures, however let me just say, this place is worthy of the five stars given! Food came out fast and is pretty crowded. Parking lot can be tricky, but seems to move decently. There is outside seating, five tables on a small patio, enough for 20-25 people I'm guessing. Inside, there are several more places to sit. Service is good, friendly. I ordered potato and carne asada tacos, both were fantastic and hard to say which one was better. It solely depends on what you prefer I suppose. There's enough lettuce and tomatoes and sour cream on top and the salsa is really good, mildly hot for the green. They have a lot of good reviews here and I can see why.

Grilled Fish Taco and Grilled Shrimp Taco burrito

Grilled Fish Taco 9/10 A great taco. You get a huge piece of fish. Lots of toppings too. I ordered with no crema. It was hearty and good. Grilled Shrimp Taco 10/10 This was my favorite! The batter and fried shrimp was delicious! It came with tomatoes, onion, cilantro and cabbage. I ordered no crema. It was so good! I would order that again. Potato hard shell taco 10/10 Loved the potato taco! It was a good size. Great value. It came with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and potato. It was really tasty. I would order this again. It was probably my favorite. Ensenada Burrito 10/10 My husband got the Ensenada burrito. He loved it! And it was HUGE! The burrito was the size of his forearm. No joke lol He said it was the best burrito he has ever had. And he loves his burritos. He got asada and shrimp inside his. Service was good. They made out food pretty quick. The food was all fresh. Ambiance was busy inside. It was kind of warm inside the shop. The seats are not comfortable. The chairs are metal chairs, and it killed my tailbone. If you can grab them to-go, I would. I just don't know how they would travel.

Half of the Grilled Mahi Burrito

Didn't realize when I was looking at the map that this place is the same business as the one in Redondo/ Lawndale where I used to live. Great menu, great prices, great food. My husband and I shared the tostada de ceviche Minto, a HUGE portion of delicious ceviche that was light and filling. I was so excited that we were here that I should have stopped ordering...but my husband also ordered the mahi burrito. That was also huge, loaded with fish and very fresh. We also ordered a grilled mahi taco, which was yummy. Many leftovers went to our friend who dined with us as we were going to the Angels game that night. Bottom line: you can't go wrong with anything you order. Consistent quality --and quantity-- at least at the two I've gone to.

Ensenada's Surf N Turf Grill Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Ensenada's Surf N Turf Grill

I'm trying to call and place an order, can you have a number that works or an online platform to make ordering takeout easy?

You can literally order online in Yelp.

Is outdoor seating available yet?

there was when we went about a week ago. Maybe 6 tables

Do you have a unit number?

No, very easy to find, right next to the gas station in a stand alone building

Does anyone know the botanical name of the complimentary chilli pepper?

Do you guy's use lard or msg in any of the food that is served?

No lard or msg is used in any of our items. We only use soy bean oil

Is your dinning room open?

Not at the moment. Its still TBD by the owners. It will post up on Instagram when it will be opening.

Has their hours changed due to covid? Like many, I call and get no answers. Their food maybe decent, but the customer service?

Hello, yes some of our locations have if you let me know for which location I can help you out.

How can i order for pick up with the Wednesday deals? tried calling and it keeps sending me to a voicemail

The best way is you can call 714 983 7785 at 10am and place the order and let us know the time you will be picking up. We get really busy on Wednesdays and our phones die around the end of the night. We apologize for any inconvenience.…

Is there micheladas serve?

Yes

Is the salsa put on the taco automatically or can you ask for no salsa? Can you ask for cut up tomatoes alone (no onion)?

Yes we put salsa on all of our tacos unless you ask us not to. And we can also custom make it. So we can take out onions and add cilantro and tomatoes or just tomato. Just let us know before you pay for your order.

Why did they change the name from Baja California fish tacos?

Probably because a BAJA FISH TACO chain just opened in Brea.

Calories in first taco?

How much calories are there in a fish taco with soft corn tortilla?

Do you sell the fish ceviche for a large order? If so, how much is it?

Yes, they do catering, surprised no one answered earlier, call a couple days ahead

What type of fish is used for the tacos?

They have cod and mahi

That's a lot for a $19 order (4 tacos and one burrito). I did not see any notices for a credit card fee. If there are any signs, someone feel free to correct me and show me a photo and time stamp, I'll gladly revise my review. This is a very small taco place with very limited parking. You're better off parking along the streets and walking here. It's a casual dining so you order and then sit wherever you want. There's indoor and outdoor seating. During rush hour, it's pretty hectic. The salsa and toppings bar is located right next to the ordering line, so people were constantly squeezing past each other to get through. It wasn't very convenient, and with the restaurant already being on the smaller side, it could easily feel cramped and overwhelming for anyone who doesn't like tight spaces. However, I do like that there is an open salsa and toppings bar. They even have pickled onions, radish, and carrots. The salsas were very good as well, not overly spicy. I tried the carne asada, pastor, and chicken tacos. All of which were really good and well marinated. Meats were tender and not dry at all. Just on the taste alone, I'll definitely be back and will be paying with cash or debit next time. They definitely need a warning for credit surcharges and hopefully it won't be a rush hour next time I go.

Review #1,082 Posted on 7.8.26…read more We stopped in here for a late night burrito & quesadilla on Sunday night the 5th after driving up from the Bay prior & getting checked into our room. This spot is located in a small strip mall shortly off the freeway on La Palma Ave in Anaheim. The food was really good, I was impressed with the meat portions in our burritos & quesadilla. There was a ton of meat. Both the red & green salsas were hot but still edible too. The rice & beans were quality as well. Highly recommend hitting this local spot up as they stay open late, and serve quality food.

The Bottom Line Up Front: Ponchos Tacos serves up a variety…read moreof Latino dishes that are affordable and, most importantly, tasty. The Food: You can get a wide range of meals, from the usual tacos and burritos to less common mulitas and vampiros. I've tried a lot of their different options, and they are all solid, but will focus this review on my latest order: al pastor and carnitas tacos. Both had a fair amount of meat and were properly seasoned, with tortillas that were firm enough to keep things together but soft enough to enjoy. Were they the best tacos I've ever had? No, but I enjoyed them. The Atmosphere: It's a smallish medium-sized establishment with a mix of comfortable booth seating and tables. Everything is relatively clean and organized, though a bit spartan -- don't expect anything fancy. The Location: Ponchos has a State College Boulevard address, but you'll actually need to turn onto Walnut Avenue to access the parking lot. It's located in a small strip mall that's hard to spot from the road because State College Boulevard dips downward under a railroad bridge. However, there's usually free parking in the lot (as long as the nearby power lifting gym doesn't hold a competition, which always results in an overload of cars). The Pros: * Lots of different dishes with more proteins than the standard fare (i.e. lengua, shrimp.) * Customer service is usually very fast, friendly, and knowledgable. * Costs are affordable (unlike other shops that have jacked up their prices) * They offer free chips and salsa if you dine in The Cons: * During this past visit, the salsa bar had lemons instead of limes. * The bathroom meets the bare minimum but could definitely use a remodel (or at least a deep cleaning) The Conclusion: Ponchos Tacos is not perfect, but it's one of my go-to places when I want good street tacos, mulitas, or vampiros at an affordable price.
