I was craving some tacos recently and heard about Primecut on social media not too long ago, and had to try them out. I went for lunch on my first visit, enjoyed what I ordered, and can't wait to go back to try more of the menu. As you walk up to the cashier and glance at the menu, you can see the flaming grill action in the kitchen, where all the meats and other foods are prepared. I ordered a couple of tacos and sides. I went for the premium meats like Arrachera (outside skirt steak) and Costilla (chopped beef ribs). Both meats were flavorful, cooked well, and piled generously on the tortillas. I ordered the rice-and-beans side, and both were delicious, especially when adding more ingredients from the salsa bar. This is such a Fullerton gem! I came across it on a random Saturday night awhile back, and now I come here whenever I crave tacos! Their chicken is always so delicious as they are in larger chunks, and their asada (beef) is amazing in tacos and their burritos!! There is a medium heat green Serrano salsa and a spicy orange habanero salsa! I loaded up on those and also got some spicy pickled onions, cucumber, radish, cilantro, and raw onion. My meat was not cooked to my liking was over done. The amount of meat for the premium price was too little in my opinion. I'd been meaning to check out this place weeks ago after being recommended it by someone who had family working here. And it's pretty good. The adobada burrito had the hallmark of using super fresh meat butchered in-house I believe and being super tender. The rest of the burrito was very tasty as well. It only needed a little coaxing with some onions, cilantro, and green salsa as it was a bit bland at the outset. I definitely would have this burrito again in the same manner. I'm also insanely curious about the loaded papas entree as I only recently introduced to this a few months ago at another food joint. Over there they called it papa loka, but I suspect the upgrade in meat here would make it more adventurous. And, of course, I would want to try the nachos because who doesn't like nachos? The staff was friendly if a bit curt. That's what happens when you have a bit of a line. And while I hate feeling rushed during the ordering process, I understood. The space is a bit small and I'm not sure would be conducive to a good chill spot with friends and family, or a good place to read a few chapters of a book after dinner. It felt more pressured, like they would want you to vacate after taking your last bite, but that may have been more the tight confines and not wanting to take up real estate with other patrons waiting. I would not recommend this business, they need some adjustments. For an overpriced $30 we got a small chicken quesodilla and chorizo nachos. I was so surprised when I didnt see pastor meat on the menu, its my favorite and the girlfriend asked what is the adobada meat and the front cashier said 'oh its just like carne asada'. Deff need training on that end, because it is in fact pastor. We also ordered our meal to go and after waiting 25 minutes (it wasn't even busy, and they have 5 people in the back) they gave us our order inside the restaurant and not to go, adding even more time on the wait. If you come during peak hours, be prepared to park on the side or behind the building. This is a fast/casual establishment where you order at the counter and your food is brought to you when it's ready. The menu board is pretty straightforward: bases are listed (EX: tacos, burritos, nachos), followed by choice of proteins, and lastly add-ons and drink options. Beverage options include bottled soda, soda fountain, horchata, and beer. Pleased to find that they serve Coca Cola products here! The order taker was friendly and helpful to answer questions from this first timer. The kitchen area is visible from the counter and the cooks kept an amicable, rhythmic pace. The dining area has, in my opinion, too many tables to the point where it feels too crowded. Someone in a wheelchair would definitely have a hard time rolling between the tables. Some reconfiguration or downsizing should be considered. They do have a half dozen or so tables and chairs set up right in front of the store for dining al fresco. Their loaded papas caught my eye, so I decided to give it a try with the costilla meat. I also added on the Anaheim chile with cheese. My friend chose the surf and turf taco. We also got 3 different mild salsas from the salsa bar to try. The papa itself was ginormous! I was told it had butter and cheese in addition to the meat, so it sounded good. I also added the Anaheim chile on the side, but I guess it's normally served as a topping, because that's how it was brought to me. For the size of the potato, it needed more butter. The cheese was toasted/melted to drape over the sides. This also needed more than what was served. The cheese-stuffed Anaheim chile reminded me of a naked chile relleno ~ I actually really enjoyed it. The meat was just okay. If I didn't know it was supposed to be chopped beef ribs, I would've thought it was ground beef. Maybe because of how it's seasoned?? If I were to order this again, I would definitely ask for more butter and sour cream would also be nice. My friend really enjoyed her surf and turf taco. There's another location in Huntington Beach and I know opening a business called Tacos Los Cholos over there would not last long, but Primecut Taqueria sounds like a USDA approved fast casual taco eatery. Literally found this place by typing in "Lunch" in the search bar for Yelp and this was one of the top places listed. They are located 2 doors down from Bodhi Leaf Coffee which means parking will suck. I already know this place needs to move to a bigger location just from my experience today. You can find more parking on the north west side of the strip mall by the bank. Inside it has a small dining area with lots of seating, but I predict it won't be enough in about a month or two once the word is OUT. I was there during the lunch hour and it was packed with no place to sit and locals just having a leisurely chat even though they finished their food a while ago. I ordered my food via their website and was quoted a wait time of 15 minutes. Arrived 15 minutes later, there was a line to order and no sign for online pick-up orders. There's a microphone on the other end of the counter but no one manning it. I checked in at the register and waited another 10 minutes with other patrons for my order. I checked out the salsa bar, same salsas as Tacos Los Cholos. They also have agua frescas and bottled beer. I ordered their nachos and it allowed me to select from a list of meats at no additional cost so I got asada and adobada. Cost with tax was around $17 which is standard pricing for good nachos in O.C. They don't skimp on the meat at all and I will say, I usually can only find nachos like that in the mom and pop Mexican food places in Santa Ana, Riverside, L.A. (you get it), but they had it here in Placentia which is convenient. The chips are the thicker ones that don't go soggy within 5 minutes of getting your order (Cafe Rio) and the beans were good. My only issue is they used a lot of pepper on the carne asada. It almost tasted like I was eating the gravy from Kentucky Fried Chicken and I don't know if the excess pepper was on purpose or an oversight, but other than that, solid box of nachos. So yes, I prefer Tacos Los Cholos because the meat is primo quality and flavor is 10/10 every single time, at both the Anaheim and Fullerton locations. This place has the same exact grill that they use at Tacos Los Cholos in their kitchen, meat is excellent, the portion size is on par with really good Mexican food spots, it's just the overuse of pepper for me.
