I LOVE Tacos Los Cholos! Just a heads up before you go: the parking lot in that plaza can get pretty crazy since it shares space with a ton of other popular restaurants and a busy grocery store. But don't let that scare you off, it's nothing impossible and you'll always find a spot eventually. Plus, the food is totally worth it. I tried the Cholo Pizza with skirt steak and it was amazing. I was also super impressed by their topping bar. It is absolutely huge, clean, and loaded with everything you could possibly want to load up your food. Tip: bring cash for a cheaper cash price. To top it all off, the service was great. Our waitress was incredibly sweet and checked in on us multiple times throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be coming back!

Great place for tacos! Street style tacos with plenty of meats. Pricing is based on types of protein and the types of Mexican food (tacos, quesadillas, burritos, etc) you want. There are plenty of tables for dining in, and a self-serve area for different types of salsa and garnishes. Good service as well. Can be very bus at times, but worth the wait.

Meats are dry, but order something with cheese and get a lot of sauce and it's good! There is limited seating so there can be a wait during meal times. I think there's less seating here than their Anaheim location. This location doesn't have alcohol (or is it just beers?). There's TV's around the room to watch sports on. Papa loka is very yummy. The potato was surprisingly moist considering I've never had a moist baked potato before. The cholo pizza is the best thing I've tried here. We had it with chicken and it was The tamarind agua fresca was so so yummy. I feel like they do get adjustments wrong but they'll fix it if you let them know. Definitely not stopping me from coming back for some cholo pizza and agua fresca.

As long as I live in the area, I will never stop going to Los Cholos. They've adopted a 'wait to be seated, server comes to you to take your order' model. The host outside the door will tell you about some specials they have...usually shrimp and some other fish. Recently tried the Papa Loka and it's a new contender for the regular rotation.

My friends and I grabbed dinner here at the end of the weekend. I'd been wanting to come here for several years ever since my former roommate I lived with in Anaheim told me how stuffed the tacos are at Tacos los Cholos. Ordering was mostly seamless here. My friends and I were each able to order and pay separately even though we ordered table side, which was super convenient and much appreciated. After ordering, we took turns grabbing condiments from the self-serve salsa bar. I'm a minimalist, so all I got was cilantro, onions, and lime wedges. Once the tacos arrived, I realized they were pretty stuffed, so I ate some of the meat with a fork first before picking them up to finish eating. All the tacos were pretty bland. My friends added sauces for more flavor, but I don't like sauces, so I stuck with my method. I thought the meat would've had more seasoning like other taco restaurants I've been to, so they were a bit of a letdown. Despite the mediocre food, service was really good, and the wait staff was nice and accommodating.

Tacos Los Cholos is the real deal! Ordered the adobada & pork belly tacos with guac and cheese, adobada & pork belly burrito, rice & beans, chips & guac, adobada mulita, and horchata -- and it was all soo good. The meat is cooked carbon style over charcoal which makes such a difference -- you can taste it. Quality is really high and they're generous with the portions of meat per taco, which is always appreciated. Tacos come with meat and tortilla only, but can add cheese and/or guac. Tons of meat options but the pork belly is the personal favorite. Salsa and toppings bar provided. Also worth knowing -- they do more than just tacos. They have a wide range of menu items, even a pizza on the menu which I have been meaning to try, so already have a reason to go back. Many locations around OC - casual spot, solid service. The lines do get long so be prepared. Been here a handful of times, and they never disappoint. This is 100% my go-to spot to bring people when they want tacos in OC. Highly recommend.

I bookmarked this taco restaurant a while ago and finally decided to discover there. I avoided the lunch time on Sat. I went over all the reviews on Yelp and everybody said the lunch time was crowded and waited for a long time to order the foods. I got there at 4:30 and noticed half dining area was not filled. Thank God! I ordered right away to our server. Regular, premium, prime 3 tiers for the meats and 3.9% surcharge of credit card payment included the prices. I got one asada, one pork marinated tacos, chips and Guac for $8.79, my hubby got 4 asadas. Taco price w 3.9% credit card service charge is $3.21, $3.09 cash payment. They don't have alcohol drinks. I took a bottle of water from home for me. No choice for drinks for my hubby. I felt the service was not friendly, terrible, our server forced me to pay the bill before I got the foods. She didn't give us any forks, napkins, etc without any explanation how to order the foods or self service for the salsa bar, forks and napkins. I didn't know anything about their system. The salsa bar has lots of different salsas, red spicy, green, pico de gallo, onion pickles, sliced cucumbers, radish, chopped onions, cilantro, limes, and etc. We got the tacos in 15 mins. I smelled the charcoal flavor as soon as I bit my taco. The beef and pork are so tender, flavorful w lots of toppings, salsas, and guacamole. I got Happy feeling w tacos....haha. My hubby liked 4 asada tacos. Tender beefs, flavorful salsas, extra Guac, and etc. He said I will be back soon for more tacos and Taco Tuesday. Excited about Taco Tuesday. I liked the quality of meats grilled with charcoal. What about the service of our server???? I didn't care of 3.9% credit card charge from the price if the quality is premium, but I am really concerned about the service. Today our service was terrible. Why I have to pay the tip???? Pros Meat quality: 5 stars Self Salsa Bar: 5 stars Parking: 5 stars. Spacious in the big plaza Cons Price: credit card payment 3.9% is already charged. Who will pay by cash all the time???? Service: 2 stars Hope they can improve the service.

    Cholo Pizza (PRIME) arrechera

Came here several times and love this place! I would say it's one of the top five taco restaurants in the OC! They have a wide and solid variety of items in their menu, but I would recommend getting anything with arrechera (skirt steak). Whether it's their tacos, burritos, quesadillas, or pizza! However be warned it can be pretty overall greasy and saucy, so even though the food is great, it can sometimes leave you not feeling so great afterwards if you overdo it! That's the only thing! They got tvs so come if you want to watch your favorite team! Service is nice and friendly Plenty of parking! There's a bit of a wait when it gets busy.

100% worth the hype. This was my 2nd visit and I was not disappointed. We went on a Saturday afternoon so it was very busy. There were not any tables readily available so we opted to take our order to go. You have the option to order via kiosk or in person. We ordered a pastor mulita and asada tacos. And oh my goodness they were SO good! I'm still thinking about them a week later. The food arrived fairly quickly after ordering (maybe we waited 10-12 minutes), despite the vast amount of people. There's an assortment of salsas and toppings available for you to enhance your tacos (although they are great plain, as well). I will definitely be back over and over again!

My wife and I went to the new charcoal grilled Taco place in Fullerton. This is popular taco chain restaurant as charcoal grilled meats. We tried to avoid lunch time on Sat. We arrived around 4:30 and no problem to find a table. We ordered 1 asada, 1 marinated pork tacos for my wife, 4 asada tacos for me and chips and Guac, one coke for me. Unfortunately they don't have alcohol drinks like Margherita, beers, and cocktails. I really liked their self salsa bar in the front and on the corner in the back. I tried all different salsas, my fave was green spicy. For asada tacos, very tasty, tender, char smell, and lots of beefs, great tortillas. Loved it w lots of toppings. I also liked chunky guacamole w chips. My wife said, OMG!!! First time char grilled asada tacos..... Pros 1)Price is not too high but 3.9% credit card charge is included on the price. 2)Service is not great, our server forced my wife to pay as soon as we ordered. She said she was leaving.... 3)big parking lots Cons 1)No alchol drinks 2)3.9% surcharge included for the credit card payment 3)Lots of noise

    Asada burrito to go

Busier than usual due Father's day. There was a wait but I came to pick up to go order. we got 2 carne asada burritos and 3 asada tacos. The salsa bar was busy so had wait to get few salsa. By the time I finished putting few salsa to go the order was ready.

I finally tried Tacos Los Cholos and it definitely lived up to the hype. The tacos were packed with flavor perfectly seasoned meat, fresh toppings, and those handmade tortillas just hit different. You can tell they take pride in the food they make. The carne asada was juicy and cooked just right, and the salsas had a great kick without overpowering the food. But my favorite was the sweet pork taco. The vibe is casual but always busy be prepared to wait in along line, which says a lot about how good the spot is. Only downside is the wait can get a little long, but honestly, it's worth it. If you're a taco lover, this place is a must try.

Tacos Los Cholos in Fullerton definitely has larger parking lot compared to the Anaheim location, but don't be fooled, you still have to drive around a bit to snag a spot, especially on a weekend. Weekday nights aren't terrible but expect to have a bit of a walk from the back of the lot. I love the staff here! They were so kind and checked in with me when I was looking for napkins. The service was crazy fast! I think they're more efficient here because someone seats you and takes your order. At Anaheim, you need to order at the register and then seat yourself. We were surprised at how quickly our order came out, but (again) this was on a Monday. We normally take the food to go and that does take a while. My go-to is their asada. Their adobada is also solid. I tried their mulita for the first time and it was delicious. One is enough because there is plenty of meat and cheese. I ordered a mineragua sparking water, and not only was the bottle chilled, the also brought me a large cup with ice. Pricing is average. I think they were on the higher end before, but it's now it's on par with how other spots are pricing their tacos. They're still the best in town, in my opinion. Cholos does not miss!

Tacos Los Cholos - Fullerton Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Tacos Los Cholos - Fullerton

    Did they take reservations?

No. It's a pay at the counter and find a seat type of place, not a restaurant with an assigned server. It's almost always busy at all hours of the day.

    Is this place dog friendly?

    no dogs are allowed

Do they use lard for cooking?

I went to the Fullerton location and asked the manager and he said yes they cook their tortilla chips and tortillas in lard. They can't make the chips without lard but they can bring out tortillas that are warmed, not cooked, without lard.

Are there any fish or non-meat options here?

There is no fish/seafood. The only item i can think of is the papá loka but order without meat. If you're vegan this might not work because it has sour cream and cheese.

Whats a papa loka? Grilled potato with meat?

Think "loaded baked potato" but with Mexican food toppings.

Do you guys have gift cards/certificates at all?

    Yes

Which items do you cook in lard?

Tortillas, frijoles refritos, y tacos Fritos.

    Any specials for taco Tuesday?

I believe they have tacos for $1.75 on Tuesdays

    Do they serve menudo?

No sorry we focus on tacos and al carbon meats.

Do they have chips and salsa?

Been there several times and did not get any with my orders. I also checked their online ordering site. Doesn't look like they do. Tons of different salsa options but no chips.. Amazing tacos though 😀

    What is an AHM taco?

Its a cheese stuffed Anaheim pepper on a corn tortilla topped with your choice of meat.

You're better off parking along the streets and walking here. It's a casual dining so you order and then sit wherever you want. There's indoor and outdoor seating. During rush hour, it's pretty hectic. The salsa and toppings bar is located right next to the ordering line, so people were constantly squeezing past each other to get through. It wasn't very convenient, and with the restaurant already being on the smaller side, it could easily feel cramped and overwhelming for anyone who doesn't like tight spaces. However, I do like that there is an open salsa and toppings bar. They even have pickled onions, radish, and carrots. The salsas were very good as well, not overly spicy. I tried the carne asada, pastor, and chicken tacos. All of which were really good and well marinated. Meats were tender and not dry at all. Just on the taste alone, I'll definitely be back and will be paying with cash or debit next time. They definitely need a warning for credit surcharges and hopefully it won't be a rush hour next time I go.

The Food: You can get a wide range of meals, from the usual tacos and burritos to less common mulitas and vampiros. I've tried a lot of their different options, and they are all solid, but will focus this review on my latest order: al pastor and carnitas tacos. Both had a fair amount of meat and were properly seasoned, with tortillas that were firm enough to keep things together but soft enough to enjoy. Were they the best tacos I've ever had? No, but I enjoyed them. The Atmosphere: It's a smallish medium-sized establishment with a mix of comfortable booth seating and tables. Everything is relatively clean and organized, though a bit spartan -- don't expect anything fancy. The Location: Ponchos has a State College Boulevard address, but you'll actually need to turn onto Walnut Avenue to access the parking lot. It's located in a small strip mall that's hard to spot from the road because State College Boulevard dips downward under a railroad bridge. However, there's usually free parking in the lot (as long as the nearby power lifting gym doesn't hold a competition, which always results in an overload of cars). The Pros: * Lots of different dishes with more proteins than the standard fare (i.e. lengua, shrimp.) * Customer service is usually very fast, friendly, and knowledgable. * Costs are affordable (unlike other shops that have jacked up their prices) * They offer free chips and salsa if you dine in The Cons: * During this past visit, the salsa bar had lemons instead of limes. * The bathroom meets the bare minimum but could definitely use a remodel (or at least a deep cleaning) The Conclusion: Ponchos Tacos is not perfect, but it's one of my go-to places when I want good street tacos, mulitas, or vampiros at an affordable price.
