The enson market finally had its remodeling, although it was in phases. It used to be the site of name 1st oriental market. It was run down for a while now and I wouldn't prefer to go there at all, it would always have this smell in there almost like it's old grocery , sour , fishy smell that lingering in the air that attaches to your clothes. When enson took over, the groceries got better and more modernize in the store. Groceries were fresher and well kept with the exception of certain sale items that looks like it's been there for awhile. The veggies there were the cheapest around, you can get a really great deals here! Everything here including veggies and meat where bigger, one time I bought zucchini there that has a width of a papaya and length of a giant watermelon! Their chicken leg quarter were larger than average too. Although I don't like the meats are cut here compared to other grocery in the area. Overall I like the way the place is slowly remodeling to be better, they also have self checkout machines now!!! read more

Great centralized location for all your asian grocery needs. The place has half an aisle worth of chili sauce/hot sauce... It's a little disorganized like most asian type establishments, with unopened boxes in certain locations throughout the store. They offer fresh cooked foods and roasted chinese meats as well. The vegetables used to be better quality when they first opened but somehow nowadays the vegetables are either too old or not fresh, a big disappointment. The fresh seafood market in the back is still very good. Overall, this is what I would think the equivalent of an asian Walmart would be. read more

Ever since they switched signs from 1st Oriental to Enson's, it's been going and looking a bit downhill. I have since stopped by a couple more times, and I'm glad it is picking back up in terms of stock and not looking as sad and empty as it had been. Even though Golden Spring and Lotte are more appealing, neither of them ever have everything I need, and I'm always coming back here to pick up what I'm missing. It's always best for Chinese and Japanese groceries here. And it's definitely cheaper and more reliable than Lotte. read more

I am so happy I found this supermarket. My boyfriend went the other day to purchase a large soup pot, but when he got home, we realized the lid that was attached was the wrong size. When we visited the next today, we told the lady at the counter and she let us exchange a new lid for the pot. I love cooking Japanese food and the market had everything and more I could ever need. Their produce is also extremely well priced! Same with their meat and fresh seafood. Going to come here over Publix from now on. read more

This place would be great if they stop constantly changing their inventory. You'll come in one day, like something, then come back next week for more and you'll never see it again. I used to have 5-6 things I liked to go here for, now it's maybe 1 if I'm lucky. I still search in vain for the products they keep taking away. This place has went downhill quickly over the past few years. I was there yesterday and it was in pretty rough shape. There is a terrible smell near the back coolers and if you look up at the ceiling there is obvious water damage and mold. The glass freezers are leaking and they have put down paper towels but this obviously isn't a fix. If you open the freezer door you can feel that it is nowhere near safe temperatures. I picked up a couple of the items and it was obvious that they had thawed quite some time ago. read more

Be sure that when you have whole cuts of meat sliced that the person weighs them after they are cut!!! I paid for 3 pounds of oxtail and weighed it at home because it seemed much smaller than what I gave the butcher for slicing...I was missing a full pound of meat! He weighed it, printed the cost sticker, then cut the meat and bagged it. One full pound was unaccounted for, so be sure to have him weigh only what is in the bag. read more

1st Oriental is the go-to store for Asian groceries in a 50-mile radius. Also conveniently located nearby are Asian bakeries, boba, restaurants, bank, and travel agent. There's also a community center for the Asian seniors group for activities and meetings. The store is the size of a large Western one, and pretty much if you can't find it here, it can't be got. Prices are lower than at other Asian grocers in Orlando. The butchers line is worth the wait and do it as soon as you walk in, they often sell out. Fishmongers area is very clean and doesn't have that vile ammonia smell like in many other Asian fish markets. Produce section is small, but varied. The multiple noodles and sauces aisles are mind-boggling. Staff are as I'd expect, curt and short 'cause they're just too busy and aren't paid the be nice to you. You'll e back anyway since this the best place in Orlando, at least, to get all your Asian goods in one location. read more

This place is huge! I recommend their produce for hard to find items such as white eggplant and water spinach. They also have a pastry counter now, but better pastries are just a few shops down. The BBQ meat counter is extensive and even has BBQ whole squid. There are also full dinners to go. They do have a large assortment of items, but this is not a one-stop-shop for me. If you are looking for Korean food items, you will not find everything you need here. Their soy sauces are super expensive as well and are divided into two aisles, even though there is not much to choose from. They do have some Taiwanese cookies that are hard to find, Taro flavor even. I like their assortment of frozen lumpia and their sauce mixes. For a place this large, they do not have all of the packaged items that I need. They do not have folded steamed buns, which you can find at much smaller grocers. I recommend coming here for BBQ meats and produce only. Try a smaller store for packaged goods- the same items to a better price. read more

One of 4 Asian Market that my family and I go to at least once a week. Enson has been going from the number 3 of our 4 choices to number 2 as they have been remodeling and getting better items. There is always one thing they always beat other Asian Markets and that is their fresh fish seems to be always better and cheaper too. As for fruits its a toss up at time between Enson and Lotto on who has each fruit cheaper. Overall, my family and I usually prefer to shop at Enson as it is next to the bakery we like and 3 other restaurants that we enjoy eating at. We only go to Lotto if we are looking for something more Korean like kimchi or good cuts of kal bi. read more

Quite frankly I have been shopping in this store for years and I have never been told that I was unable to purchase something because I wanted purchased 7 instead of 6. Honestly, I have never had the item ripped out of my hand and told to bring another person if I wanted to purchase the extra item. The part on the sign stating that you can only purchase 6 of these items was covered by the metal frame. I was told it was a leader item to bring people into the store to purchase other things. I was purchasing other items and needed this item but I was not allowed to purchase the required amount. Also, if you ask anyone at the store for something, they don't know where the item is. I do not recommend this store because it is so disorganized, out of stock of many basic items and honestly rude. Yes, I have brought my business elsewhere. read more

Mooncakes! As you pass the pirated movies store and the mobile phone store, you enter the grocery. It is huge and you're immediately introduced to the sweets and bakery items. This store has just about anything Chinese or Taiwanese you can imagine. They also have a small selection of products from Thailand, Japan, and Korea, including a huge assortment of instant noodles. Those come singly or in cases. I am uncomfortable with products from China, so I had often found it necessary to check boxes carefully. They have many tanks of live seafood in the back of the store, which give the store its mostly unpleasant odor. Of course, if you don't clean the tanks, they won't clean themselves and you'll have unwelcome smells. The most important thing about this store for me is that they have mooncakes from Hong Kong for Mid-Autumn festival and very few other stores have any mooncakes. Those from HK tend to be the best and the price of each box reminds you that having the best costs you. Of course, if all they sold were mooncakes, they'd be out of business most of the year, but what they have are worth the drive. They have a wide selection of drinks, whether in liquid or powder form. They have the widest selection of noodles in the Orlando area. The bakery is probably the biggest deal for most, but the roasting duck is sure to please some, something I had not seen since living in Philadelphia. read more

One guy we passed said to my friend, "You need a tour guide in this place!" I would love that just to find out what everything is. So much fun! It was really busy and the lines to check out looked as bad as Wal-mart. But it was actually pretty quick. I ended up picking up some small sauce dishes and coconut cookies all for a little over $3. Here in Orlando, you won't have a hard time finding a decent Asian market. This is just one situated over in a shopping center full of other Asian owned businesses. This one in particular is a favorite of my mom, who totes her cooler here when is comes to visit so she can haul all of her goodies back to Jax. Tons of products, fresh meats/ seafood and fresh produce. Lots of things to browse. I noticed that the prices here are a bit lower than my usual go to Asian market. We came in quickly just to grab a few snacks and pick up a few items that I didn't find elsewhere. We had just eaten lunch, so I missed out on the fresh made hot food section of the store that had whole roasted pork and duck as well as a decent hot bar. Yet, we did get some fresh pastries from the local Asian bakery and my favorite packaged ramen to take back home with me. There is also a Boba Tea place out in the front of the store that is pretty good, but they were closed at the moment. read more

This super market is huge! I mean huge! I walked in to buy a bottle of water (what can I say florida is really hot in the summer) and was surprised at the size, so I obviously had to take a look around. They have a giant Asian pastry section filled with every type of pastry you could think of, an aisle filled with only noodles, and a whole aisle for tea as well! They even have a Chinese BBQ section. Also all the way in the back they have tons of live fish, lobster, and crabs. The only downside was a very strong fishy smell at the back of the market where all the fish were. What I was truly interested in was the boba shop that is on the left, right when you enter the super market. It's kind of well hidden but they offer tons of different bubble tea flavors-- more flavors than most speciality shops I have been to. I ordered a mixed green tea milk bubble tea and it was great! The tapioca pearls weren't overcooked to the point where they are smushy. They were nice and chewy but not too chewy. The green tea milk tea itself was silky smooth and super creamy, it was great! Wow! This place is HUGE!!! If you are looking for anything Asian related, this is your place- from the basic to the exotic and everything in between! From produce to fresh seafood and poultry/meats, this place offers it all! It's like an Asian Walmart to some extent! Not only do they sell food items, beverages, pastries, sauces and spices, but they even sell housewares (i.e. woks and cooking utensils), candy and little novelty items. Wow! When you grow up with a Chinatown 20 minutes away, you really take it for granted. Although Florida doesn't have a real Chinatown, I really appreciate a gigantic Oriental Supermarket like this that tries to fill in that gap. I was with my kids, so I couldn't go to town in this place like I wanted to. I feel like I need to take a special trip to Orlando just to shop here. I haven't seen a lot of items in this store since I was a kid. From my quick scan down the isles I could see that this place has almost every Asian grocery item and variety! I was able to get my regular and garlic Sky Flakes here before my kids were begging to get back to the resort. If I come back and find that some of my Filipino favorites: ensaymada, pan de sal, suman, xio pao and puto are available I'll give it 5 stars. read more

We stopped in Sunday for some Peking duck , and bought some BBQ pork as well as some sweets from the in house bakery. We picked up a 12 pack of Kirin beer on sale ($9.99). Still good quality, good selection, and good prices. You can still smell the seafood as soon as you walk in the door, but don't let that put you off. The seafood is among the best in town. This supermarket is located in a surprisingly Asian plaza in Orlando. Inside there is pretty much any Asian (mostly Chinese) food item you can think of. My family and I usually stop by here whenever we are on vacation. There is a restroom inside in case of emergencies... My mom's favorite part of the store is the small video/DVD/music store in front of the supermarket. I would think the CDs/DVDs are pirated, and sometimes my mom's CDs/DVDs do skip... but she has bought a LOT of these over the years, and maybe 1-2 have experienced problems. But coming in at like $5-$15/CD or DVD, it's an okay deal. read more

1st Oriental Supermarket is my go-to place for just about every Orlando trip. We often would swing by on the way back to Jacksonville and pick up whatever groceries, snacks, etc.... It is the largest Asian groceries in the area. Having said that, it really is an "A-OK" place for me. It is superior due to its size, but often, products are disorganized and even hard to find. Sometimes what I wanted (for example, pineapple cake) can be found in multiple locations. And we are not talking about because it was on special and therefore some are displayed in the end cap. Oh no, it's literally in two different aisles and the only logic I can make sense of it is, one is more 'premium' looking packaging?? For almost every trip, there always seem to be a few items that run out on us. We have a usual staple of the type of snacks we purchase and even buy for our friends in Jacksonville. But their stock is very inconsistent. So inventory control leaves much room for improvement. Having said all that, it is still the largest Asian grocery and in a very convenient location (next to my fav Taiwanese bakery and several Chinese restaurants). So it will remain my go-to place. I just can't exactly call it a "I'm a Fan" establishment. read more

The best part about 1st Oriental is, undeniably, the sheer size of the store. If you're looking for something specific, it is LIKELY that you will find it, or find a relatively great comparable item that you can use instead. The undeniably worst part of 1st Oriental is the overall cleanliness of the store. Or maybe some of the shelves and tanks are SO old that will never look reasonably clean ever again. Either way, it's a bit off-putting. There is, however, a fantastic selection of fresh produce, fresh baked goods, canned and sealed contained foods, snacks, beverages, cookware, dishware, etc., at competitive prices that are very accommodating. On a slightly unrelated note: If you can find cha siu bao (barbecue pork filled buns) fresh from the bakery area, get some. They are SO delicious. On an even different note, I found a general lack of items from China, Taiwan and Japan. Most items in the shelves originated from Vietnam, and while there are items from a multitude of different Asian countries, I had the hardest time finding Chinese long noodles, for a traditional Chinese New Year dinner. I did find what I needed, but my options were very limited. It was a bit surprising to be honest. Certainly, this store is King in the area and for good reason. But beware of the cons if you are walking in for the first time. Otherwise, happy shopping! read more

Bottom Line: If you are looking for Asian groceries this is the place to go, however, if you are used to modern Asian markets in Clearwater or the West Coast than you'll be disappointed by the slightly dilapidated feeling of the place. So back in the day, and I'm talking WAYYYYYY back, this market was the place to be. Years ago when there weren't many Asian stores in Florida, my parents would always talk about how much variety there was in Orlando with Viet town off of Mills, and Chinatown in Orlando; nothing in Tampa or Clearwater was compoarable. Well those days are long in the past, compared to the Asian markets of Orlando which have remained the same, Tampa and even my hometown of Clearwater is bursting with ASian markets all around that make Orlando seem sad. It's still the biggest in town, but I wish they had an update sometime soon. That being said let's talk about the store. This place will have most of your essential Asian household items such as fresh veggies, fish sauce, different types of soy sauce, and a variety of fish and animal parts that you wouldn't find in a conventional grocery store. In my opinion their best part is the in-house Asian bakery which sells fresh bread at a fantastic price of around $1/bun. In fact I always come to the market for fresh breads instead of the nearby Chinese bakery because it's a better price and they have more of the savory breads that I like (Pork floss buns, and barbecue pork buns). You just better come early before they run out. They also have a fantastic lunch special where they give you 2 items and white rice for only $4!. Let me tell you those portions are absolutely massive and it's a steal of a deal! All in all if you are looking for a specialty Asian grocery store this is the best in all of Orlando. It can be a little bit far for me being that I live in the Lake Nona area but it's size makes the drive worth it. This is by far the largest Asian market I've ever seen!! I hate that they don't have one closer to where we live but when we're in town we come here to stock up on our Asian and Filipino goodies. They have a fish market going on the back which is AMAZING!! I love it love it. It could only be improved if they cooked some of it on the spot. You'll find anything and everything in this joint.
