Do not rent from Enterprise on Duke Street in Alexandria VA. I made a one way reservation and the location called me 2 hours before my arrival time and informed me they were out of cars but would try and find one and call me back. They did not call. I subsequently saw on the website they had plenty of vehicles available. I called the 800 number and it was clear they had vehicles but just did not honor the reservation because it was a one way rental. I had a similar experience at another local enterprise years ago. I recommend never relying on a company that uses such deceptive tactics. read more

Do not use the Enterprise at 7920a Richmond Hwy, Alex, VA 22306!!!!! They quoted me $80 something, and then the two days later billed my card for over $350, then returned $165, and there was no reason for any additional costs! I have rented cars all over the USA and used Enterprise many times and this office was the worst! Under staffed so we had to wait over 30 minutes, then he didn't even get us signed out until after closing, approximately 5:30Pm, and when we returned the next day we were less than an hour late and they charged us even though they were not there! Plus they tried jacking up the price on items we had already selected, such as the insurance, and other options!!! I felt like I had to keep an eye on my wallet the whole time!! Pay close attention to your bill from this place. I rented a car from this branch in July when my car was in the shop. There was only one car left - it was a premium rental and I had reserved a compact car. The representative told me I would not be charged for the premium rental due to the fact that there were no other cars available. I had the rental car from a Wednesday to a Friday. My car was not going to ready at the body shop until after Enterprise closed on Friday evening. The body shop told me they had an agreement with Enterprise and that I could leave the rental at the body shop. I called Enterprise to make sure this was OK. They confirmed that they would coordinate getting the rental car back from the body shop. Two weeks later I received a message from Enterprise indicating that they had charged my credit card over $300 for the rental. When I called the representative, he told me that I had the car for a week. It turns out the rental car sat at the body shop until the following Tuesday before Enterprise picked it up. I explained what transpired with the rental and he indicated he would only charge me for the time I had the car. There should have been no charge because this was covered by my car insurance. When I asked if I was being charged for the premium rental, he indicated I was. I explained that they told me that the upgrade was complimentary because there were no other cars available. He said he would reverse the charges. two weeks later, I looked at my credit card bill and Enterprise had charged me a smaller charge after telling me they would fully reverse the charge. I called them at 11:30 on a Saturday. They close at noon. I was placed on hold and no one ever answered the call. I understand that rental car companies are dealing with high demand and are having trouble keeping up with it. However, the over charges, lack of communication, and lack of responsiveness is extremely frustrating. I recommend avoiding this branch of Enterprise if you can. read more

I'm simply reviewing because the other reviews were so negative... and I didn't experience any of those problems. My total check out time while picking up my car was less than 10 minutes. I was given a Mazda 3 to drive and it was clean and had under 20,000 miles (so relatively new.) I hardly remember them offering their insurance. They mentioned it once as sort of an afterthought. Like "we also offer this...." Instead they asked what my car insurance was (and did not ask for proof either....) When I returned the car, it took all of 5 minutes and I was in and out. They even offered to drive me home. I would rent from them again if the opportunity ever came up. read more

Very nice, accommodating staff. Had to get a rental while my daily driver was being repaired from a minor accident. They did not have a small compact vehicle for me so the upgraded me to a small SUV. The car was clean and nice. My only tiff was it was basically on E. However I went and put 10$ in it and that lasted me the entire week actually. They're also not doing pick up or drop off due to COVID incase anyone is wondering. read more

Had a rental pickup scheduled for 0730. Arrived at 0800 and nobody was in the building. 10 minutes later both employees came in from the back. After providing my information they told me the car wasn't ready. 0830 and still waiting. I suggest walking as opposed to this poorly managed outfit. This was hands down the worst experience i've ever dealt with. I spoke with Athani Tsimbidis, and Sam Ashton. They were both extremely rude, and very disrespectful. I had a reservation, (reservation number:1551603454 under Mohamed) but when I got there, they told me that they needed a credit card, not a debit. So, after I gave them my credit card and ID, as requested, they still came to a conclusion that they didn't want to give me the car. The customer service was disgusting. I have never felt so undervalued as a customer in all my years of dealing with car rentals. Do not recommend. They had an attitude the entire conversation, and kept dismissing the issue at hand. The company needs to take action against terrible employees like them. These people don't deserve to work with this company, as they are tarnishing the enterprise name. I ended up going to another car rental service, and thankfully it was the complete opposite experience as this one. read more

I have received a call from a disrespectful guy "Mark" three days later today and he was blaming me for not returning the vehicle. Wow I just noticed that my prior review of this Enterprise Rent-A-Car location is no longer appearing readily. Long story short--if you want to get charged for damage that you didn't cause--go to this location. As others have mentioned, they *are* very polite; they may claim the pre-existing scuff mark on your rental car will cost you $1700 to fix, but they are nice when they do it. read more

I'm only reviewing because, after talking to the store's manager, I thought it was unfair that his store was getting such negative reviews from prior management years ago when the service I experienced was absolutely fantastic. Rental Date: Aug. 2, 2013, 1-day rental I called for a pickup that morning from the shop my truck was at (just some minor cosmetic repairs, I only needed a car for the day while it was being repaired) and I was picked up within 15 minutes. Getting a car took all of 10 minutes and was only delayed because they were washing the car they gave me. I opted for a full-size car and was given a 2013 Ford Fusion (as someone who does not drive domestic cars, I was pleasantly surprised with the pep and amenities the car offered) with about 4,000 miles on it -- essentially brand new. The staff I deal with was exceptionally pleasant and easy to talk to; dropping the car off was a breeze, and they dropped me back off at the auto shop to pick up my vehicle. Actually, looking back on it, I was going to give them four stars but I think they earned the fifth star. TL;DR: negative reviews were while the business was under previous management, current staff is pleasant and service was fantastic. If I ever needed to rent a car again I would absolutely go to them first. read more

This place outright sucks (for lack of better terms). Their cars seem very outdated, they aren't well kept, most of the time the gas tank isn't filled and God forbid you ask them to fill it for you, you wait 45 minutes for that to happen and they are literally 10 steps away from the gas station. They press and press and press for you to get insurance even when you say it's covered on your credit card they still don't accept that. They give you a million excuses as to why that won't work and why they can't accept that even though rental car insurance is in fact covered by your credit card (mine anyway) and then after about 10 minutes they finally give in and let you be. At one point this woman refused to accept it and I drove all the way home to get the outline of my credit cards rental policy and after she spent 20 minutes reading it over she FINALLY and RELUCTANTLY gave me the car without their insurance. This location is the the absolute SLOWEST place to rent from. You won't get friendly in and out service here. Expect to wait at LEAST an hour for you get your car (so go an hour early if you can). They always seem to have about 8 people inside who do NOTHING but sit at their cubicle area, pace back and forth and do nothing for you while one person at the desk has 5 people to take care of on their own. It's BS if you ask me. My other gripe is that they are expensive (which is ridiculous since they have no decent cars, no variety to choose from, terrible customer service and state line rules) and almost come off as if they don't want you to rent from them. They have NO selection of cars to choose from, you pretty much get whatever they give you unlike other places that usually give you a choice and you can not go out of state for the most part. This place is the absolute worst for so many reasons. I feel sorry for anyone who has to go here and deal with these people and their terrible cars. read more

I rented from this location and they literally had only one car available. So much for options...Also, I did NOT authorize/elect to have the extra insurance coverage, yet it showed up on my credit card statement. I called them to get it reversed. They were polite, but they kept saying they'd process it and never did. They kept saying wait 3 days, wait 3 days. After a two weeks, I decided to just file an incident report at the corporate level. I rented a compact car from August 1st to August 4th, 2018. I reserved it on their website. I called the local office to arrange for a pickup to the facility to get my vehicle at 4pm. At 4pm I was waiting for a pickup and nobody showed up. I call the local office and asked if someone was coming to pick me up, I was told they would send someone. There was no apology; just an excuse "we are understaffed." Someone came to get me and I arrived 30 minutes late. When I got my car it had dirty carpets, windows and body. This seems to be commonplace at Enterprise; every time I have rented a vehicle from this facility, the cars are dirty and the fuel tank is empty. I was scheduled to bring the car back on a Saturday, and I was told though I am paying for a rental until 4:30 pm, I will need to bring the vehicle back before 12 noon or I will be charged for two additional days. I was told this is the policy since they are closed on Sunday, and I said I would bring the car back by 12 noon and I was told, I would not be compensated for the loss of four and one half hours. When I arrived at the facility on Saturday at 11:15 am, I was told by the manager they were understaffed and I would need make my own arrangement to get home. The manager suggested I call a taxi or Uber. I told him I do business with Enterprise for the mainly because, they have pickup and return service to your home or business. I told the manager, I would not have done business with Enterprise if, I were told about the need to find my own transportation upfront. The manager told me he was very busy and when he gets time he would see if they could do something for me. I told him I was going to register a complaint with their corporate office. I was told by corporate office they would look-in-to-it and call me back. read more

I would have given this a 5 star rating..BUT....I called ahead of time to confirm that the Full Size SUV that I would be renting for Thanksgiving had a luggage rack. To some that would not be a big deal, but it was essential for us, as we would be utilizing all of the 8 seats for passengers (and the trunk space would be limited since we were using the 3rd row). They offer the Yukon, Tahoe, and Suburban (vehicles equipped for 8 passengers). I was told that YES all SUV's have luggage racks. Well the evening before Thanksgiving I pick up the vehicle, and NO rack. Imagine trying to call around, and obtain an SUV w/a rack at another location the evening before Thanksgiving (fail).They were very apologetic, and stated we could rent a van with the rack, which would have been great, but we lost a "seat" in the van (as they have captain chairs in the middle row and we were traveling with 2 infant car seats) this made for a very tight 14 hour drive to Florida. So we got the van (the alternative, was driving my 5 passenger benz) LOL, but the van was on "E" and had low tire pressure. Again to some that would not be a big deal, but when you are ready to hit the road you are ready to hit the road, but we had to fill up and put air in the tires and windshield wiper fluid. They offered us a 15% discount for the inconvenience ($31.00), and we were able to return the vehicle on "E", so I guess that helped. I will continue to rent from Enterprise in the future, but possibly a location with a larger fleet, and ask that they physically confirm the needs requested, and make sure the vehicles are maintained prior to renting. read more

The 2 young gentlemen who were working at this location when we rented our car were professional, courteous, efficient, clean-cut, well-spoken and kind. The entire process took about 10 minutes, and the car that we got was exactly what we had reserved. The car was new-ish and in very good condition. They didn't try to up-sell us on the insurance once we declined the offer of additional coverage. The staff at this location was exceptionally nice. I had a 7:30 am appointment, which is the time that location is stated to open, the guys opened the door 5-7 mins early and started helping the customers that were there. Not many, if any, businesses around would extend such a courtesy to their customers and that says a lot!!! I would/will use this location again. read more

I rented a car from this location last weekend and contrary to the recent post, there was not a female employee that worked there. The customer service given to me by their employees Kevin and William was great! They made sure I got a car that I was comfortable in, even giving me a free upgrade! I had a horrible experience from the time I walked in the door, I was given all the wrong information by an employee . Then to come back a few weeks later and be told by Ryan the manager, that the employee had been fired. In the process of using the rental, three weeks later I was charged a deposit of $200 with authorizing it. I had to call and find out why my debit card was charged twice that week. Then I spoke over the phone with the Manager Ryan to process payments, for the rental to later be told they were only authorizing them and not actually charging me. On Monday I went to the location to return the car, and was told that one last payment would come out of my account and it did that Monday. He told me after that I would not be charged again, Then on Wednesday I was charged almost $1200. Ryan has not tried to help at all. He even said I was charged twice but has not done anything to help. I would not recommend Enterprise to anyone. They are unprofessional, unorganized, and not knowledgeable about their policies or procedures. read more

I rarely take the time to write a review because I think each person's experience is not necessarily indicative of the overall experience most people have. That said, my experiences are as follows. I arrived 20 minutes late to pick up my rental. Location was supposed to close at 6:00 p.m. For some reason it closed early and I was unable to get my car. The next morning I spoke to the Agent at the location. He lied and told me he was there until 6:00 p.m. I told him that was not possible because I was there at 5:50 pm with a witness. He then said "I thought I was there until 6:00 pm!" Lying to customers because you cheated your employer is certainly not the way to do business. Next incident. I left a wireless speaker under the front seat of my rental which I returned at about 11:40 AM. Location closed at 12 noon. I called at 1 pm and left a message. I went back later that day and left a written note for them to find on Monday morning. No return call was received. I called later Monday afternoon. They rented the car on Saturday. They claimed they would call the renter who claimed she did not find my property. They claim they vacuum and inspect vehicles before they are rented again. That would mean an Enterprise employee found my property and did not place it in lost and found. That would mean they basically stole my property. Or, they lied again and did not clean the vehicle and simply rented an un-clean vehicle to the next renter. Or, the next renter simply lied and has my property. In sum, employees lied to a customer. Failed to properly clean and inspect a vehicle they rented to another customer. Renting an un-clean car is unhealthy. It raises questions as to what other "issues" they are supposed to address that in fact, they simply ignore. read more
