From the second Jonathan (not sure if that is how you spell his name) picked me up, it was an amazing professional and fun experience. He picked me up from Lithia Auto Body Shop and came in, introduced himself before we were on the road. I had recently gotten into a car accident all the way from March, and it wasn't till now that my personal car was going into the shop due to the claim being a hassle. It was easy to talk to him while we were heading to Enterprise and after introducing the car to me, he filled me in on what Enterprise offers with the rental. As well as the policies and procedures which I didn't feel too bad about because of how he was explaining it. He had amazing customer service, and my first impressions of him was: that he had such a great vibe to him! I was set up with a 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross and it's nice because it is one of my dream cars. Right now I don't see any problems with it, other than learning about the car. We have utilized this Enterprise location two times now, both due to our vehicle being in the shop and our insurance having a contract with them. Within an hour of getting off the phone with insurance, a gentleman from Enterprise called to set up the car rental. Since we didn't have info from the body shop, we weren't able to book the exact timeframe. They followed up a couple more times throughout the month to ensure we were taken care of and booked an SUV. Sooooo... with that being said, the 3 stars is for the customer service. I did arrive quite early to pick up the vehicle because my husband had to suddenly go out of town for work and I had to make things work. The gentleman that assisted me was very polite and I let him know that it was no trouble to wait a bit. After about 30 minutes he let me know they had my car ready. Couple things... I've never not had a full tank of fuel when renting a car and only had half a tank. Not too big of a deal but when commuting daily, a full tank is appreciated to start off with. We did a walk around and there were the typical dings and scratches pointed out, no big deal. It was very cold outside and the car had apparently just been washed because it had a coat of ice over it. I got in the car and the center console and glove box were open to try to thaw the car out. But that's no big deal, it's the fact that the inside of the car was pretty gross. I was in a hurry at this point and more focused on getting to where I needed to be safely. There was garbage in the passenger door, which I didn't see for a few days since I was driving on my own. There were food crumbs and grease on the dashboard and cup holders. A note from another renter that didn't get thrown away. Grossly sticky steering wheel. 'Change oil' light on. Just not what is expected when renting an upgraded car for a couple weeks. Upon returning the car, their computers were down and we were not given anything saying we returned it. I took a photo of the odometer and we were fine. We also never received the documents via email like we were told. We did let the young lady know the vehicle was gross inside and that the way we returned it was exactly how it looked when I drove off the lot. She was extremely apologetic and we let her know the customer service was great but that should be looked into a bit. Again, Customer Service was great but the car was just plain gross... I shouldn't have to wipe down the steering wheel to drive a newly rented car! Blech! read more

Only issue I had was when I walked in to pick up. There's a sign that says, basically: wait here for an agent. Waited. And waited. And waited. 7 mins later some guy walks up and asks me if I had been helped yet. Clearly not. He walks around the building, says someone is coming. Then out of nowhere, poof! There's 3 agents that all walk in together. So annoying. Next time I'm walking around the corner and interrupting their hide out pow wow "if" there's a next time. Wasting my time burns 2 stars. Other than that everything else was effortless. Return maybe the easiest ever. read more

Yep, another good review for a rental car agency. You're probably thinking 'ol AH has grown soft. I'll start with some constructive criticism: the processes at Enterprise Midtown (and Downtown) can be chaotic. They frequently seem understaffed. Forecasting staffing to customer volume is difficult though, I get it. Now, the positive. Despite their internal business challenges, they really, really try their best to make things right and get you in a car. I was handed off between 3 different people due to breaks, calls, etc. They apologized for this and upgraded me to an SUV for free, I was not at all miffed! I did notice that they charged me for the complimentary upgrade. But, after I told them about it, they apologized and quickly corrected the mistake. I feel bad for them. They were constantly assaulted by rude, snarky, and down-right malevolent customers, but they took it in stride. Since they ain't at the airport, their prices here are some of the best in Anchorage. I use them occasionally because I don't have a car anymore. They'll even pick you up and drop you off! (provided you live close enough, but they have so many locations that they can probably make it happen if you pick the right one!) Just, please, be kind. read more

If I could give these people a lower rating I would do it. The car they gave me broke down. I only drove it twice and the third time it wouldn't start. They told me that I wouldn't be charged for the rental or the insurance after it broke down and then they continued to charge me. It took them three days to come and get it and during that time they charged for rental and insurance. When I brought it up to them they said too bad. If our car breaks down it is on you. They made it sound like I should be happy that they didn't charge me for the tow. Avoid this place. There are plenty of good rental agencies out there. read more

A friend rented from the Enterprise downtown location. This review is not about the location, but service received from Enterprises Services. The vehicle was involved in an accident. The 800 number was called. Was told that road service would be there in an hour. This did not occur. Called again and was told the same thing. Several more calls were made. Found out they had not dispatched, had the wrong address and other excuses, Finally, a representative did their job. It was over five hours waiting for their services. This place looks like it needs some love. Had an easy, breezy experience here both picking up and dropping off. That should say a lot since I come from the mean streets of Philadelphia and New York - lol. Enterprise tends to be a bit pricier but I've never had a bad experience. Friendly staff. No one is pushy or anything. Only gripes aren't against Enterprise...1) only 1 person behind the counter (small airport..it's normal and each of the others only had 1 person too) and 2) it's about 300% more expensive than renting a car here...tourist season = $$. I am giving 2 starts because my initial experience when I picked up my rental was excellent. The employers were polite and professional. The car was in good condition and clean. Unfortunately, I left an item in the car and called immediately (before they picked the car up so no time for anyone to rent it) and was told they were making note and would call me when the item was at their office. I did not hear back, called, and the person who helped was professional and told me the other location had what I needed, and they would have someone bring it when they were coming to their office next, then call me. No call and when I called back I was told the same thing. One week later I called back, Ryan answered and was condescending, did not apologize for any of their miscommunications, told me it was my fault, and used a passive aggressive "professional" parlance with me. UPDATE: I've updated my rating from 1 to 3 stars... the $500 in unwarranted charges were refunded... but the credit for returning the vehicle three days early was minimal... not sure whether it was my email or this review that got their attention... sort of a bummer... I just wanted to get this figured out the first time I called two weeks ago... (ORIGINAL 1 STAR REVIEW: Alamo rental car (operates under Enterprise) at the ANC airport is not to be trusted. The paperwork says the vehicle would cost $1000 and instead they charged me $1500. The vehicle was rented for a week... but we returned it three days early. I called in advance and a very nice person on the phone said we'd automatically get a refund for the three extra days. I had told her I'd give her a great review. But then, instead of getting a few hundred dollars back... they charged me $500 more. That was over two weeks ago now. I've called back and left several messages, emailed multiple times, and no response. Bait-and-Switch. Do not rent from this location. I confirmed an SUV (at a price premium) for a family holiday and they forced us into a dirty mini van. They did not offer any rebates for the inconvenience. They also didn't tell us they were giving us a lower standard of a car until we had full checked out and we're walking to the car. This location has been a train wreck for customer service. Because of COVID, I am renting cars every other week. I was happy at first, but after this last experience, I am done until they change their policy changes. First, they call you to confirm your appt. They'll leave a voice mail once, then they spam you with phone calls until they reach a human. It has gotten worse and worse over the past two months. This last experience, they called and left a message during the day, Then they called me again the next while in a meeting. Since I couldn't take that call, they called my home phone immediately and didn't leave a voice mail (obviously I couldn't take that call). This is where it really crossed a line. The customer service person called my wife's cell phone. I had been renting under my full name and so somewhere in their records, they matched our numbers and persisted, but in the worst way. When my wife answered the phone, the customer service's tone of voice was snarky, rude, etc. She had obviously become frustrated and couldn't contain it. They need a policy change to provide a better way of handling the confirmation process. Had a rental car with an insurance claim. Reservation was made and they called me at 0750 in the morning confirming my appointment. Kaitlyn told me that all I need to do is call their number and they'll pick me up at the collision center after dropping my car off in 5 to 7 minutes. I called immediately when I arrived at the collision place but was on hold total for over 20 minutes and the moment that she answered the call she just said they're busy and hung up. Twice. Rude. I always use enterprise when I travel because of the superior customer service but not here in Anchorage. So unprofessional. read more

Do not use this rental company. I travel extensively for work and pleasure. I reserved a vehicle weeks in advance and when I arrived they did not have the large size vehicle which I needed. Which I could even tolerate until the rep at the counter told me "we don't have to try as hard as the other companies because we are corporate not a franchise". This is a late review and it is for the exceptional customer service I received from Casey. I was a passenger in one of the rental cars and I left my prescription sunglasses in the pocket near the ceiling lights. I was devastated because I was working 5 hours away from anchorage and leaving Alaska for good in a week. A couple days later someone brought them back to Enterprise and Casey had them over nighted to me at my home. He was so patient with me and so understanding. Always a pleasure to do business at this location. I got to my hotel room earlier than expected, but I was picked up within 30 minutes of my phone call. Their rental agents are always friendly and upbeat. The price was very reasonable compared to their competitors. I travel frequently, and Enterprise is usually, but not always the most competitive. As usual, the additional insurance is VERY expensive. Check your insurance policy. Most will be covered by your existing policy. If you don't have a glass policy through personal insurance, add it before renting, or get it with your rental. This is Alaska. There are rocks flying everywhere!! We were hit 3 times during the 10 days we rented the car. Luckily, each "ding" was small enough to avoid charge, but it was nothing but luck. read more

I called because we broke down and needed a ride to the shop where we'd meet the tow truck. The call was not answered locally. I was redirected to the local shop after I'd made a reservation. The young man said that since traffic was happening at rush hour and it was a half hour before closing, they could not pick us up. Which is their tag line. He said it was policy. Well. We rent cars regularly. This was best car renting experience we have had. There was only one person in front of us. The assistant manager Colin Rice was very helpful, as was the other nice young man at check in. They were both professionally dressed, and helpful. They were so helpful we had a great feeling about being in Anchorage. When we went to pick up our keys, that young man was also well dressed, and happy to assist. Unlike many other car rental companies, this car was clean, smelled clean, and worked perfectly. When we returned the car, a professionally dressed young woman helped us right away and was very friendly. I was fortunate to have booked a car rental with Enterprise in October of 2015 for my epic Alaska fishing trip a few weeks ago. The individuals that I encountered on this trip at Enterprise were outstanding representatives of the company. Fast, efficient, courteous and knowledgeable of their company, products and services. I was promptly picked up at my hotel which was conveniently located less than a half mile from my hotel. My reservation was for a full size vehicle but to my surprise, I was given an option to utilize a Ford F-150 eco boost 4x4 club cab at no extra cost. What a bonus. First of all this car rental location gave me all of the relevant information to make informed decisions, as well as recommending a very sturdy and safe car which saw me through driving on a highway at night when unexpected treacherous rain started pouring. I explored Denali national park in a short amount of time, driving between Fairbanks and Anchorage over a short time span of several days. The staff are friendly and Hunter particularly went out of his way to provide excellent customer service and provide relevant information. However because my email address was not in their system as the one where the complaint came from...it was not delivered. Enterprise picks you up and drops you off, so it's a good reason to go with them. I had a good experience when them, but I think rentals are always over-priced, so I had to give them four out of five. I paid $128 for three days with the cheapest option vehicle. I was charged for the first full day even though I didn't get the car until the afternoon. I think they all do that though. I didn't get the insurance, and I don't think you should, since your regular insurance policy should cover it either way - call your insurance company to make sure. I'd use 'em. However, I hear that the price would have been a lot higher in the summer, so you should keep the season in mind. read more

Do not rent from them. Their contract says you pay them for money they lose even if someone else damages their car. You pay while it is being fixed. So they want you to buy their insurance even if you have car insurance and a good credit card rental car protection. read more
