They will gladly take your reservation online and when you show up tell you they're booked out two weeks for a car. Your confirmation means nothing to them. Then they will turf you over to another Hertz, who will literally laugh at your reservation... and double the price. Bait and switch!

Seemed liked they had frequent shuttles running. Upon arriving at the lot, the shuttle dropped us off at the Avis Preferred booth. My rental car was already assigned and ready for pickup without having the need to go to the counter. But I still went to the counter to request changing the sedan to a SUV. The agent quickly changed it for me and I got the confirmation under a minute. That a fast friendly service. The car I got was super clean. It had 33K miles but all features worked fine. The exit was a breeze using the QR code. This was another great Avis experience.

It took forever to get that sorted out. Before leaving, I specifically asked the agent, "If I fill the gas tank before returning the car, I won't be charged for fuel, right?" The agent told me, "No." I returned the car with a full tank of gas, but when I got home, I realized Avis had still charged me $70 for fuel. I contacted customer service, and they refused to reverse the charge. In my experience, Avis has some of the worst customer service I've dealt with. Be very careful before agreeing to any prepaid fuel or refueling options. Even if you return the car with a full tank, you could still end up being charged, and getting your money back may not be easy. Just sharing my experience so others can avoid the same problem

The individual behind the counter seemed to be clueless (I think was new and his manager was the next machine over and offered little help). Both were Indian and barely spoke English. The man began checking me in taking all my info, license, etc. He provided my a document to sign showing that the vehicle was a 2026 Dodge 2500 and advised that there would be an additional $45 charge for picking it up early. I was aggravated for 2 reasons ... first being that I had reserved a Dodge Ram 1500 (V6 - better on gas) and I was perplexed saying I believed that p/u could be up to 1/2 prior to a scheduled reservation. He told me I was wrong even though I explained that was on the website. He also explained that since I was picking up early they did not have a Dodge 1500. For these reasons, I opted to get out of line and wait at a nearby counter with chairs. My son and I sat down and after approx. 5 minutes, the man came over to us and said that if we were willing to adjust our drop off time accordingly he could check us out now. I said that was fine and explained that I would have expected this anyway as it is common practice at rental car companies. After being back at the counter he still only had a Dodge 2500 available. I explained I did not want a 2500 as it has a V8 engine and the gas usage/cost would be quite high since I would be driving quite a bit. He said if I wanted I could wait until 4:30 pm (time I had originally scheduled). I stop the check in process and go sit again. After about 10 minutes, he comes back over and says he has the truck now. I begin the checkout process again (3rd time) and he again gives me paperwork for a Dodge Ram 2500. I explain I do not want a 2500. He explains they do not have a 1500 and engages the manager who then explains they do not have any 1500's available, did I want a car instead? I explained I needed a truck since we'd be moving a recliner. I was completely mad at this point and said I didn't want to have to pay all this additional gas money, and asked "why do you have a vehicle listed on your site if you do not even carry them"? The manager indicated (in broken English) these were the only truck types they had and if I wanted a truck I'd need to take this. The man who was helping me directly said he'd help by "taking care of the gas". I said "if you're going to give me a tank of gas then fine, as that will make up for the bigger engine/higher gas costs". He then continues with the paperwork which he hands me to sign and says "that will be $108". I said "what!?", "i thought you were giving me a tank of gas". He said "oh no, sorry I take care of gas so you don't have to fill up before you return". I was beyond angry by now. I said "I do not want to pre-buy gas"! "You said you were taking care of it to make up for the wrong truck and larger engine". The workers said "sorry, no i did not mean that". The manager steps in again and says "This is the truck we have, if you take it you can call back in the morning to see if we have the other one" and handed me his card. I went ahead and took the truck since I had NO OTHER OPTION. I called in the morning and it was advised they did not have a 1500 as they do not carry that size vehicle. At this point, I could have screamed. I kept the truck as I was left with no other option and ending up incurring over $150 in gas for 1.5 days. I will NEVER use Thrifty again. I will post on Yelp, Yahoo, and anywhere that will take my review. WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A CAR RENTAL COMPANY EVER !!! I would like my $100 in gas back.

Enterprise is my favorite business from which…read moreto rent a car, but unfortunately, this location really failed to meet the high standards I've received at all other Enterprise locations. I came to this Enterprise Rent-A-Car location, at the Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), during a business trip just over three months ago. I purposely waited to write this review in order to allow Enterprise plenty of time to make up for their error, but they never did, after multiple correspondence and inquiries. My experience here deteriorated almost immediately after I arrived at IAD. I flew into IAD as a major thunderstorm was rolling through the area. It was exceedingly cold and windy, so much so that several folks inside IAD delayed walking outside the airport building until they could visibly see their rental car shuttle or hotel shuttle arrive. I did the same, and as I saw the Alamo/Enterprise/National shuttle pull up, I ran out into the thunderstorm, quickly and awkwardly, with all my luggage. Just as I ran up to the rental car shuttle, the driver pulled away. Needless to say, I was wet, freezing cold, and immediately annoyed. I also ended up catching the flu shortly after this, and it took me a few weeks to fully recover. After arriving at this Enterprise Rent-A-Car location, I was quickly helped by a gentleman named Ethan. He was professional and pleasant, so I thought the remainder of my experience with this Enterprise would be fine. He got me all set up with my rental car for the week, which ended up being a Nissan Versa. It was "ok" for a cheap little economy car, but I figured it would at least meet my low expectations for a rental car. I ended up driving this car all over the VA/DC/MD area, for five days, and the car drove fine. But, I kid you not, two big problems popped up just as I was driving back to IAD to catch my flight back home, which was a very inconvenient time due to my desire to be punctual. First, a police officer pulled me over, which sent my stress and anxiety levels up through the roof. After waiting in the car for quite some time, parked, with the policeman's lights on behind me, the police officer eventually walked up alongside my driver's side window and told me that he pulled me over because there were no registration stickers on the license plate. It turns out that Enterprise forgot to place them on. After resolving this with the officer, who was very kind and understanding, I departed once again, headed for the airport. It was only a few minutes later when the second problem occurred. A warning light displayed on the car's dashboard informing me that one of the tires was going flat. Needless to say, I came back to this Enterprise Rent-A-Car location thinking that this would be a 1-star Yelp rating. Shortly after parking the car, a gentleman came out to greet me and check-in the car. His name was Matthew. He asked me "how was your experience with Enterprise?," and I politely told him the story. He was surprised and immediately apologetic, asking if there was anything that he could do to "make this right." He ultimately offered to give me a bonus for two one-day future car rentals, for free. He said that this would take about three weeks to be credited into my account. The credit never came. Over the next several weeks, I had multiple email exchanges with this particular Enterprise Rent-A-Car location, with at least three different managers who all pledged to "make this right." I believe their intent was sincere, but none of them ever followed through. In the end, now over three months later, this credit was never sent to me. If I had received this credit from Enterprise, I had planned to be writing a glorious 5-star review. Unfortunately, and sadly, this review is quite different. Ultimately, this was a miserable experience, and Enterprise repeatedly said they would "make up for it," but they never did. Needless to say, I'll never come back to this particular Enterprise Rent-A-Car location. And, I honestly feel that, for me, this location has tarnished the good Enterprise name.
