I'm not sure what's going on with this location, or with Enterprise in Asheville but, DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION AND CONSIDER RENTING FROM ANY OTHER RENTAL SERVICE! The 'manager' of this location, Jared, is rude, abrasive, abusive, hostile, and generally mean. I'm uncertain who would have hired him, or promoted him, but it speaks to the overall level of management and customer care in Asheville. Simply put, Enterprise DOES NOT CARE about you. You are an afterthought. Enterprise will not do anything to attempt to correct their errors, and instead employees like 'Jared' are installed to force customers into whatever pathetic disgusting vehicle they have on hand at the time. Jared 'the manager' of this location is horrid, hostile, and abusive. I would have provided my feedback to upper management, but today I have been 'escalated' to 'upper management' no less than 5 times, and no one has called me back! Made a reservation a month in advance and arrived to the location to learn that no vehicle was available for me. I was told the manager called me a day before to let me know about the cancellation. He did not. And even if he had called me, 24 hours notice for a rental that I made a month prior is absurd. read more

I had a great experience getting a rental car from Enterprise recently. Jared Robertson, the Assistant Manager, went the extra mile to help me get a same-day car rental after disaster struck. In preparation for my travel to a conference in Asheville, I had made a verified car reservation 10 days earlier with Budget Rental car in downtown Asheville. I confirmed my reservation a day earlier. However, when I went to pick up my car early on the morning of Oct 10th, they told me it did not matter that I had a verified and confirmed car reservation, they did not have any vehical for me and there was nothing they could or would do, to help. I was stranded and didn't know what to do. Luckily, I was able to make a same day reservation online at the Enterprice website for an 11 AM pick up at the 954 Patton location the same day! My relief was shortlived. Around 10:50 am, on my Uber ride to Enterprise, I got a phone call from Jared at Enterprise that my on-line reservation can't be honored and they actually did not have any available vehicles. I shared with Jared that this was my first time visiting Asheville and I would have to somehow find a return flight back to California if I couldn't get a rental car the same day. I also told him that I was willing to wait till the end of day if he had a car available for later. He probably sensed the desperation in my voice and told me that he will get me a car towards the end of the day and that I could keep my luggage there so I could be free to explore the town. When I Ubered to the Enterprise from the Asheville Airport, the front desk representative told me that despite my car reservation and the verbal representation from Jared, Enterprise was fully booked and she could not even see my reservation in their system. She said the online system must have overbooked and there was no way she could get me a car for the day. I explained to her that I had just spoken with a gentleman earlier and he said that he would help me out. At that point, Jared came out of his office and told his staff he would take care of the matter. At 4:15 PM, I Ubered back to the Enterprise after exploring Asheville and Jared was at the Front desk. I did not know what he had to do to arrange a perfect rental car, but I am sure it was not an easy task for him. In addition, he offered that I could return the vehicle to the airport site. I was deeply touched by his thoughtfulness and offered him a tip, which he kindly rejected and told me that there are a lot of people just like him in Asheville, willing to help visitors. And he was right! Over the next three days, I encounted many wonderful people while enjoying all the beauty Asheville offers. None of that would have been possible without Jared's compassion and commitment to client service. In the end, it is people like Jared Robertson that make Asheville - Asheville - a place that will glow in my memory forever. read more

Arranged a pick up for 930 and was a little delayed due to the location is over an hour from my home. When we got there, they had no vehicle for me. The female employee stated "I tried to call you and let you know". I did indeed have a call from a 1-800 number at 910- 20 minutes from my reservation and they left no voicemail. Zero accountability. I have called the insurance company and asked for another rental vendor and won't use or recommend Enterprise due to this interaction and lack of professionalism. read more

Look at Ed Z's review below. Same exact thing happened to me today. The manager/employees at this location just decided not to rent to me. They had the car available, I called corporate 3 times today to make sure there would be a car for me. Every time I called I was assured there would be a car for me. Then I get there, the managers have ZERO interest in helping me, and flat out REFUSED to rent to me even though I had a reservation, they had a car and I had money to pay for it. The managers here are very "power trip-y" and should NOT be in a customer service role, as they enjoy being straight up mean to the customers. I myself work a customer service job, and I would never even consider treating a customer the way I was treated today. They clearly were "getting off" on refusing me service. As they told me "we will not rent to you" with huge grins on their faces. And when asked a reason, they wouldn't give me one. They just didn't want to rent to me. Decided they didn't want to, that was it. Wish I was making this up, I can't believe this really truly happened. Very disgusted with how I was treated as I have never in my life been treated so horribly in a customer service scenario. I will probably never use enterprise again based off of this one experience, it was that bad. Do yourself a favor and go to the Hertz, across the street where they will treat you with kindness. This Patton Ave location and the horrific management there is enough for me to use another company every time. Also I was told that this location is especially bad with customer service and pretty much everyone leaves this place upset. So in summary, if you MUST rent from enterprise, AVOID THIS LOCATION. Warning ! Even if you have a confirmed reservation they may not rent you the car! That happened to me yesterday , I made a reservation with a pickup at a local body shop . The pickup was 40 minutes late with no call letting me know the pick up was going to be delayed. When I got to the office , a customer told me that they had been waiting an hour plus for their car rental. There were three people waiting. I commented that this was maybe a reason to not consider renting from Enterprise in the future. The manager ,Rebecca A Lesley,apparently overheard our conversation and announced to me and the room that she was not renting a car to me today. I was astonished. When asked why? Ms Lesley just kept repeating the same sentence!? She seemed very stressed and agitated. Finally she told me that she wasn't renting to me because I wasn't "kind" . I couldn't believe this nonsense . Her feelings were hurt? really? She stranded me without a car and no way of getting home or to another car rental location. I should add that I am 85 . She told me I should get an Uber or Lyft. I have never used either one . I had to leave the location , download the Uber "app" and figure out how to get a ride. The ride home and then to another rental location cost me $ 60 . I would have expected the following instead of what happened : An apology from the manager for the delay in picking me up . An explanation for the upcoming delay in getting the rental. They will put you in a car that smells like weed, with the registration out. So very unsafe. The gentleman up front will not hesitate to make you feel inferior to him. Save yourself the hassle from dealing with this place. Chances are you'll drive past several other car rentals to get here. Stop in at any one of those places instead. OR at the very least, minimize your expectations and prepare to be disappointed. That way, you won't be disappointed. I love Enterprise. After years of horrible customer service at Hertz, I switched over to Enterprise a couple of years ago and have had nothing but excellent service again and again. They always greet me with a smile and are quick, friendly and efficient as they set me up with a rental car. I rent from them 3-4 times a year and always end up with a great car with a full tank, ready to go. I am always happy to support them as they've always given me great service. read more

Horrible experience. Do NOT use enterprise. They overbook cars, don't disclose safety issues and caused an extremely difficult situation that could have been prevented. They were of no help and still haven't provided compensation at this time. My husband and I rented a car on July 28,2023. We were not told there were any safety issues with the vehicle. However, this was a blatant lie. We were told that the air conditioner does not run when the car is stalling but were not told that there was clearly issues going on with coolant leakage. Enterprise should have checked this and pulled the car to prevent what happened. The second day we had the car, smoke began to come out from under the hood of the vehicle. Coolant was leaking and the engine shut down. My husband and I were left stranded in an unsafe area for 12 hours. We immediately called Enterprise and they said a tow and Uber would be called immediately. We waited there for 5 hours but everytime it said the tow truck was nearby, it would cancel at the last moment. No Ubers were available. We had to walk 2 miles along the side of a highway in the dark to get to a motel. This cost $65 and was a terrifying experience honestly. The next day, I walked 3 miles to a different Enterprise location and they were completely unhelpful. They had no cars available and provided zero help. Enterprise sent a tow for the broken down vehicle the next morning but left us stranded at the motel with zero help. It was clear all they cared about was getting their car back. Not providing help. If it weren't for a kind friend of ours we would have been stranded there longer 2 hours away from home. Frankly, this treatment is unacceptable. We were not charged for the second day with the vehicle but we were charged for the first day and had to pay motel costs. Appalling behavior. Would not recommend. This review is for Enterprise in Asheville, NC. In December 2017, someone door dinged my Acura. Anything on my Acura is expensive to fix, regardless of what it is. Perhaps a door ding is an understatement, considering the large engrained scuff in my paint. After choosing the body shop I preferred to carry out the job, I made an appointment for the body shop to repair my Acura. After receiving a check from the other person's Insurance company, I called the insurance agent and informed her that I already had made my appointment at the body shop. The body shop quoted my car repair for two to three days, so I would need a rental car, wouldn't you think? Working in the medical field, I am extremely busy and my time is very valuable to me. I work long hours, day and night, so I don't have a lot of extra time. The insurance agent informed me she had already contacted Enterprise and set up a contract for them to have a rental car ready for me. Assuming everything would be fine, I dropped my Acura off at the body shop and had my Dad pick me up to drop me off at the Patton Avenue location, where my contract was set up for a rental car. Simple enough, right? Wrong. I arrive at the location, where I am told my reservation for my contract was actually set up for the South Asheville location. Wrong. The insurance agent set up my contract with the Patton Avenue location. The least this location could have done was offer me a rental car for the inconvenience, but they couldn't even do that. It would help if someone could do their damn job for once. I had to drive all the way to South Asheville from Patton Avenue, where I was then informed there were no cars for rental, and that my contract was actually set up for the Tunnel Road location. Wrong again. If anything, I think I would know, considering I was on the phone with the insurance agent while she set up the contract with PATTON AVENUE, not South Asheville or Tunnel Road. Considering it was the mistake of Enterprise for screwing up my contract that was set up properly by the insurance agent and it was the mistake of Enterprise for passing my contract to each and every location, the least they could have done was offer me a car. At this point, I was fuming. Asking the most simple questions and asking someone to do their job proved to be the biggest inconvenience for each and every location, as they couldn't even do that. I would have driven a damn bus to work at this point, but they even couldn't provide that. I ended up having to get my disabled Dad to drive me to work for two days, a huge inconvenience on his part and mine. If you have a contract with someone, then at least honor it. I guess Enterprise assumed I could walk the thirty miles to work, or ride my bike. Way to go Enterprise! I'll expect better service from McDonald's the next time I have to rent something, or perhaps I'll just walk, like you assume I can to work. Worst enterprise experience to date. I will never use this company again in Asheville. All the staff looked like competent people 10 minutes into talking to any of them and you realize they are not. I was threatened by one of the employees named Travis for pointing out my vehicle was filthy. Instead of fixing the problem.. he complained that I should just be "happy to have wheels under me" . Then said that "a guy that looks like me should expect a hard time." What does that even mean? Borderline racist? A guy that looks Jewish? what does that even mean? Fantastic customer service!! Not only is everyone here so nice, they are honest as well. I left my prescription medication in the car (one that could easily be profited off) and they kept it on the desk until I returned 2 days later. Saved me A LOT of hassle to ensure a medication with my name on it wasn't floating around out there. Not to mention, the car was spotless, they throughly went over the interior and exterior, and when I needed to return the car early- the money was immediately back on my card. Couldn't recommend Enterprise on Patton more!! I have dealt with the 2 other rental agencies in the area, and it was a nightmare compared to this agency. read more

We wanted to go on vacation for our daughter's spring break. So we ordered a car three weeks in a advance. We went to pickup the car on a Monday at 8 am we were told it would be ready at 12 noon then we were told 2 pm then 4 pm then we were told it would be the next day. We never got the car. We had to use another company. We have used enterprise before without any problems. They did not even call us the next day. They kept telling us about a 15 passenger van. We are only three people we did not need a van that big. We are very disappointed in enterprise and may not use your company again. Mark P read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service after having had a wonderful experience of no drama car rental. I am handicapped and I left my handicap placard on the rear view mirror. I placed numerous calls only to be told that the manager is the only person who can get into the lost and found and that he would return my call. Two weeks later and many calls in between and I still can't seem to get the manager to call. All I want is for Enterprise to put it in the mail to me in NY. I had used Enterprise for years but they apparently have regressed back to the other competitors. These people will lie with no regrets whatsoever. I called for a one way to another location, was quoted a MUCH better price then on line and in addition was told it would be a Luxury car. I asked specifically if I could call back later and was assured that everything would be the same. When I called back 2 hours later it was like the original phone call never happened. The location, customer service..EVERYONE said there was no such price, no luxury car and no one should ever give such an offer. My insurance made a reservation for me to get a rental car after work on 08/15 while my car is in the shop. My adjuster put my work phone number as the best contact number for them to reach out to set up a time to get a car. I never received a phone call and I work at the front desk, so I would know if someone tried to reach out. I called after work and they told me they did not have any cars available until 08/16 at 4PM. As I was asking questions, the gentleman on the phone was very rude with me. He tried telling me he called and never got an answer, which I know is a lie seeing as I stand next to the phone at the front desk all day. I asked if he knew if any other enterprise in Asheville had any cars and he told me every other one except for the one near the airport were completely out of cars until the next day. I wish I had gotten his name, but it was whoever was working 08/15/2017 around 3:30pm. I was not pleased at all with my customer service experience. Luckily, I didn't take his word and called a different enterprise, which surprisingly had SEVERAL cars available for me to get in to. Thankful that the Enterprise off of Smokey Park HWY gave me a much better experience. read more

Just turned my car in Sunday from my first and last Enterprise rental. It's pretty belittling and frustrating to rent a car as a 30 year old, and not be told it is set up for a sixteen year old driver. Unfortunately we found ourselves in an emergency situation on the road, where another driver was swerving into my lane as the couple inside the car hit each other repeatedly and the female passenger opened her door and tried to jump out of the car six times while driving full speed on the interstate. I was trying to speed up to pass this person so I could avoid being side swiped or rolling over the passenger if she eventually jumped, and my car didn't seem to be gaining any speed. Apparently, a program is put on the car where you top out at a max speed of 80. This was never told to me nor is it in my contract and I find it to be extremely dangerous to limit those who don't intend on abusing it, should they face themselves in an emergency situation. Other than that, many states have speeds of 75 on their highways. You can bet if me or my kid were injured because of this I would have sued the crap out of this company. On the way back from my trip, my son started to get antsy so I rolled back the sunroof to try to entertain him for a little while. I couldn't hear the radio at that point and tried turning it up a little and guess what? Limits on the RADIO too! Mind you I do NOT like my music loud and the radio volume cuts off before you get anywhere near what I would describe as inappropriate volume. For only renting what seems to be half of a car, I should have only been charged half of the price. At the very LEAST this information needs to be told to people before they rent your cars. If you would like to fact check my story, call Opelika, AL police department because I reported the other driver. We will not be back to your company for our rental needs. Unbelievable. read more

I am a corporate client. I called today and spoke with Blake. 1st call I was transferred to an evaluation recording where I left a 1 since there was no explanation or reservation taken. The second time I attempted to make a reservation and received an explanation that I had to be transferred to another line to do so. I commented that was not the procedure before and after I asked was informed as of Sept 1 the local office could no longer do reservations. I began to ask another question of Blake, in Asheville, and was promptly cut off and transferred. Rude and unnecessary. Very disappointed.
