I was refused a rental car because my drivers license had a chip off the corner. They asked if I had another ID and I said yes I have a US passport, but that wasn't sufficient either. The manager claims this is the policy of Enterprise Rental car company and despite me being a prior customer I was left stranded at their location after they picked me up from the repair shop my car is at. Progressive insurance said I had to us this shitty location and made the reservation. The staff were unprofessional and asked if I had a "valid" ID aside from my valid TX License with a tiny chip out of one corner. The manager Robert was unwilling to give me his bosses phone number and I was left stranded at their location until I contacted another car rental company who couldn't believe the incompetence of this place. I will NEVER rent another junker from this abysmal company again. This was probably the most asinine rental experience of my entire adult life and Enterprise has lost me as a customer for life. I do plan to write a very positive review for a local rental company who picked me up and immediately arranged a super nice vehicle and had zero issues with my license having a chip off one corner. If you go here beware that you may encounter the same horrendous experience I did . I want to also ad I waited until 3pm because they said they didn't have a vehicle until then and went out of my way to accommodate their unprofessional schedule only to be left with no vehicle and their Bullshit policy. Well this was supposed to be a simple rental but it had been a nightmare. I work near the Stassney location, picked up a vehicle and was then pulled over because of expired registration on out of state plates. Was let off with a warning, came back to the location to swap out the vehicle but they don't have anything available? The staff here has me calling other locations to swap this out for another vehicle. This is crazy, why should I have to call for a mistake they made. Now I have to wait until they get vehicle on the lot, still waiting 2 hours later. read more

A very unprofessional woman answered the phone regarding my serious concern about switching a car that I just took out. It had THE WORST smell, smelled like nasty sweat and feet and it was unbearable. She laughed at my concern and said "I'll take it if you don't want it" literally laughing at a serious issue due to my wife being pregnant and having extreme nausea in that car. Shout out to John of the Hway 290 West rental office in SW Austin who helped make my rental experience a piece of cake! It's been a nightmare to not have my car due to a wreck. But John made the days brighter from the first day of my rental. He made sure that I was aware of all the details of the rental as well as reminding me of all the important details in dealing with the insurance company with regard to the rental. If I failed to ask about something, he would bring it to my attention. Plus he even took time to follow up certain details by calling me. He is incredibly detail minded and that helped tremendously as I had what seemed like a zillion things going on all at once. And his ever present cheerful personality is a rarity in customer service. My car repair has been a nightmare but the staff at this Enterprise location have been great! Arranging a rental car can be a trying experience. The service counters are often slow and the employees quite visibly hate their jobs; the cars are often in poor condition and dirty with lingering odors and dog hair covering the seats. This Enterprise location has none of that. In fact, this is probably the best car rental experience I've ever had. My car was in the shop after another driver hit me. Enterprise picked me up from the shop; the driver was very friendly. I needed a larger car because I had planned to use my own car for moving--they set me up with a Jeep Cherokee. They even washed and cleaned it while we were preparing the paperwork. Fast forward 30 days and my car is still in the shop... long story. The other drivers' insurance stopped covering my rental. I was able to get the shop to cover another 10 days. When that was up, the shop still wasn't done with my car, so I extracted another day from them. I called Enterprise; the shop hadn't even called them to let them know that they'd approved an extra day. I called Mario at Enterprise and he took care of straightening things out with the shop, so I didn't have to. I dropped off the Jeep on the day it was due. Closing the paperwork was painless and they gave me a ride back to the shop. Well, my car still wasn't ready... so, despite it being closing time, I went back to Enterprise, Mario called the shop, and got me back in another rental car which was also washed and cleaned. The staff here are customer-focused, friendly, efficient, and conscientious. The location is all the way across the city for me, but I'd gladly rent a car from this office again. read more

Terrible is what I can say. We picked up a suburban last Friday. It was filthy, pet hair, sticky, nasty cup holders something sticky on the back seat, bugs all over vehicle etc. I cleaned the inside myself before we left and went out of town. The guy there took it back and attempted to try and clean it before we left, but it wasn't any better. When we returned the vehicle, Starla informed us she was going to charge us an additional fee because we returned the vehicle with pet hair. Really? Yes our pets were in the vehicle but i vacuumed it before we returned it. To make matters worse she talked to my husband like he was a hired hand, telling him to "Come here." I've rented many times from enterprise, but I will never rent from this one ever again. read more

I was already on the verge of tears after the dealership and was pretty upset when I arrived to Enterprise. The gentlemen (Ailem?? This place was jamming, and it was only my helper's second day. I would never have known. She was a total pro. The one time she got hung up, the other guys jumped right in in to help. It's a pleasure watching any good team at work. This is a good team. These guys take a lot of trouble to give good service. Their cars are nice. And they don't do the hard sell on extra insurance. Last week I was involved in a car accident when a guy in an SUV ran a red light and creamed me. Happy Valentine's day to me. I spent ALL morning dealing with his insurance people, then MY insurance people, then getting checked out by a doctor, and THEN calling around trying to find a car to get me to work the next day. All while having a huge migraine, mind you. It was not a good day. After calling 5 different rental places and being met with "No, we don't have any cars available." I finally called the Stassney location. It turned out they didn't have cars either at that exact moment, and just as I was about to throw my phone across the room in complete despair, the guy asked me my situation and by when I needed wheels. I wasn't the most pleasant on the phone because I was so stressed out, but he did his best to find a solution for me, and he was the only person I had spoken to that day that went out of his way to do so. He was super patient and helpful, and was able to get me a car in half an hour. By the time we got there to pick it up, he had it ready and with the top down (my two options were a pick up truck, and a convertible - guess which one i went for?). The young woman at the front desk who checked us out was also very friendly and after 8 hours of one of the crappiest days in my life, I was finally in a set of wheels after about 45 minutes of calling their location. It meant a lot to me that this team went beyond the "sorry, we have no cars available" line that I had heard all day, and did what they could to help me out. The car was fantastic and their service was even better. Next time I rent a car it will definitely be with these guys, despite the fact that I live across town. read more

I've been here twice, both times having cars repaired right up the road so it's a convenient location. In both cases, the staff were friendly and quick, the price reasonable, the cars in good shape and the process pretty hassle-free. I tend to be a pretty tolerant and patient person, but this is quite possibly the most tedious and trying rental experience I've ever had (I have to rent vehicles on a monthly basis). I arrived at this location at the time I was told the vehicle was to be available. 4 hours later followed by avoidant and vague answers from staff, the vehicle was finally available. I will avoid coming to this lot in future. ...Oh yeah, beware of the typical "non-smoking," but somehow still smells like smoke, lingering aromas. It just baffles me that this kind of service is somehow acceptable...I mean, it's almost comical...I thought I was on an episode of MTV's "Punked." The only reason I'm giving them 3 stars is, because after all all of that, they gave me a fully loaded, practically new Ford Explorer. Mic drop. read more

I rented a "weekend special" for a trip to Dallas. I was very impressed with this operation and would definitely rent here again. Everyone was very professional. John, who took care of me, picked me up at the right time and got me on the way. I had one small problem with the car which was handled very fairly. I was INCREDIBLY annoyed at the fact I reserved a car online, called to confirm they had it before walking over in the 100* heat with my son to pick it up. When I arrived *Marcus (the person on the phone who confirmed) told me they didn't have the car I'd requested and that they could "upgrade me" to a mini van, something that gets less miles to the gallon than my own for my road trip. I DIDN'T WANT A MINIVAN! During the course of trying to get this sorted, he lied to me further as to why the car I'd reserved wasn't there. What you ask for and what you sign for, even in the haste of the moment (in the car) and disregarding the tiny text on the handheld (moving) electronic tablet. Double and triple check that you are not being charged for things you didn't ask for. Do this and you won't have any regrets using this or any Enterprise location. Otherwise, expect the smooth, friendly agent to disregard what you asked for and add charges to your bill for you to quickly initial here and sign there. My bad. You'll have the joy of finding debits to your bank account that are irreversible. They're really sorry this happened and offered a discount on my next rental. I'm sorry. I took my car in to "Go Green Auto" to get some work done. I needed the rental for the weekend and called to see if I could get the "weekend Rate" and the answer I go was I can't do beter than the rate as given with the Go Green Auto Discount". Well, that discount was BS. What a pile of B.S. If I had taken it back and stood there to re-rent it, it would have been $9.99 a day until Monday morning. I've rented from Enterprise for about 20 years since I was in college, but I'm losing faith. read more

There is a difference in WHERE you rent a vehicle and all franchises are not created equal. I have personally used the W. Stassney location on several occasions for my personal travel needs. This place is horrible a total nightmare with untruthful staff. My mother was sent here by her insurance after a car accident. She just wanted a small car to get around while they were trying to fix her car. The person helping her told her there were no cars that size and the one there was alrematchingady being picked up by another renter. He said they would rent her a bigger car (suv) for the same price. The guy told her she needed to pay insurance 50/50. So long story short the insurance told her she shouldn't have to pay insurance on it bc they covered it plus they were charging her the rate for an suv instead of the price they had discussed. Went back to talk to the guy and he said my mother asked for a bigger car and that they had lots of smaller cars available .. my mom told him she never requested a bigger car and only took it bc he said there were no smaller cars. He then said that my mom was in a hurry and that if she had waited a car would have become available .. my mother never said she was in a hurry but he said he could tell. There were a couple of Saturday staffers there who gave off a lazy vibe, but Megan, the manager was not letting it slow her down at all and was multitasking like a pro. This enterprise is super friendly, not all locations are as nice as they are. My pick up was quicker than expected and the person picking me up was really sweet. They got 4 stars because they don't have a key drop box. They said that it was ripped out but when I lifted the drop box to put in the keys, it had been filled in with foam. I called enterprise after hertz put me in a terrible car in spite of my requests. Every time I called they were helpful and consistent, regardless of who I talked to. They listened to what I needed and found it for me even though the first lot did not have any trucks available. They explained things up front that hertz did not. This is the car rental place I almost always come to in Austin. Great service from this location. I don't know if he still works at this spot, but Adam provides top-tier customer service. He once stayed after closing time because we had a late afternoon wreck and we were desperate for a rental car -- and he stayed solely because we called and asked. I don't always get the car that I reserved -- I usually get bumped to a larger model at no additional charge because the tiny car I asked for isn't available. This was a big problem once when I needed a minivan that I reserved several days earlier and had to settle for an SUV that had a lot less cargo space. Beware of some smoker cars. I've had a few cars that I had to reject during inspection because the A/C vents reeked of cigarette smoke, which I can't stand and also don't want to get nailed with a smoking fee. Tip -- if they are closed and you need to return the car arrange to drop it off at the airport location which has extended hours or the I-35 south location that has an overnight key drop box (but you are responsible for the car until they check it in). Also, look at all of the vehicle types for rental because sometimes an SUV costs a lot less per day than any other type. Checking their site at the time of writing shows a compact SUV for $43.29/day and an economy car for $81.59/day. read more

This place sucks. I hate Enterprise to begin with because I ALWAYS get a car that is dirty, smells, has expired tags or is out of gas but I'm forced to because their customer service is more of a push over and easily refunds to my employer. And this time was no exception. I had to be picked up since I was forced to get the car Friday for Monday travel and can't drive the rental car for personal use all weekend. I called the day before my reservation and asked the guy what I needed to do to be picked up the following day, the day of my reservation, and how late it could be as I had a lot of work still to do that day. He said no problem. I just had to call back in the morning and they would set it all up and pick me up about 5:30 since they closed at 6. Perfect. I called the next day and was told the latest they would pick me up was 4 because there was sooooo much traffic and they were ALWAYS soooo busy in the afternoons. So I had to leave work at 3:30 to get home so I could wait around to be picked up at 4:30. It took LITERALLY 12 MINUTES TO GET BACK to the rental location. At which there were three people just standing around. Why you ask? Because the only car they had at the location was the one they picked me up in. And the only other customer there was a guy that someone told over the phone that they had plenty of cars. But didn't. So that poor fool had to wait around for someone to deliver a car from the airport location for him. The guy helping him said "Well I don't know who told you we had cars available but we have only had 3 cars all day and 8 reservations to go out." To which the customer replied, "Well unless there is another xxxxx at this location, that person would be you." No reply from employee. HAHA Nice! But he can write his own review. Back to mine. So I rented a full size, company policy, because I only get $40 for gas upfront. What did I get? A Toyota 4Runner with a half empty tank of gas. So I had to fill up and blow thru the gas $$ I had on the first day before I even got to my destination. This company sucks. I always rent at the AVIS off I35 and 11th. It's owned and run by a nice young couple that is always friendly. They always have cars. And they are always clean and nice. I will use a different Enterprise location for work in the future and cross my fingers. And I will continue to use AVIS for all my other rentals. I am giving one extra star just because the car was new and not nasty yet. But it had less than 1,000 miles so I'm sure it won't stay nice long as the girl that picked me up said there was only so much cleaning they can do with the little vacuum and garden hose behind the building. I had a reservation to pick up a vehicle today, I called location to confirm to find out they would not have it today. I asked the rep what could be done to help me out since they did not have the vehicle that was reserved. He assisted me and explained that their was one at the Manchaca Rd (this was at 5:50PM). He explained to get there quick because they leave shortly after 6:00pm but that he would let them know I'm on the way. So I cannot give a good rating because they did not have the vehicle that was reserved. They did try to help. read more

If you're a retail customer expect decent service and to have a reserved car ready for you. If your insurance is covering the rental expect to not get a car and don't expect them to call you with updates or anything. Expect to be put on a waiting list with no order. I went from 24 to 6 to 3 then down to 8 and then down to 14 over a 3 day period of being on this "wait list" depending on which employee I called and talked with. Expect to be given a laundry list of excuses on why there are no cars for you but also expect to be offered an upgraded car if YOU pay out of your own pocket and not your insurance. Expect to be treated rude when you ask questions and certainly don't expect the employees give you a reason to rent there again as they don't seem to care one way or the other about your business. Enterprise was always my 1st choice as a retail customer however after my terrible experience at the Stassney location with an insurance rental that never happened no Enterprise location will ever get my business again. read more

I should probably wait until I cool down to write a review but I just went to pick up a car that I reserved 3 weeks ago and I get there to find out that they have no cars and there are already two people in front of me waiting as well. The lady claimed it was just one of those weird things and she was doing everything she could to get more cars. I was on a super tight time frame and had an appointment in less than an hour before I had to hit the road for an important road trip. She finally offered a car at another location and said that by the time I get there the wait wouldn't be too long.....yeah right. I didn't have time for that and had I wanted to go to another location I would have reserved a car there. But that wouldn't have made much of a difference apparently because it seems reservations don't mean anything. I obviously can't depend on them for service so I will be looking for rentals elsewhere. I really needed that car! In my opinion there is absolutely no excuse for not having a car when a reservation has been made. Period. End of story! read more

Then the guy who does the rental, knowing the shop where I'm getting repairs tells me they can drop me off after I return the car. The snippy blonde I get when returning it goes into this lengthy spiel after saying No, about how it's in the Ben White Enterprise's "area" So they lie to you when renting. If not for the stellar reply that I received from Area Manager Ryan Stoabs, I would be conducting a horrific review of this store front on Stassney Ln. While I did have the most awful customer service from a clerk at this location, when I contacted Mr. Stoabs, not only did he respond immediately to my email, but followed through back to back with a phone call. He validated my experience, and did everything but give me the "kitchen sink" to assure me that no one else would have to have the same experience at this location. In this day and age, customer service seems to be going to the wayside, but Mr. Stoabs assured me this is not the case with the stores under his management. As I had to relocate to the S. Lamar store to get service, I also will say the clerk that assisted me was totally professional and had me out the door in at least 20 minutes. I will close by saying, if you have any feedback with your experience leasing from Enterprise, Mr. Stoabs will support whatever he needs to do to correct or amend your experience to get quality service. read more

Mike picked me up from my body shop and did a fabulous job of getting me in a vehicle quickly! Within 24 hours both the low tire pressure and the oil change required lights were on - the left rear tire was almost flat. So I called and spoke with Chris the manager and he stated he would not put me in a different vehicle. He said the tire was my problem! He also stated that I could take the car to Firestone and get the oil changed and they would not charge me because they would know the car belonged to Enterprise. I do not feel it is my responsibility to take their vehicles in for service! So I called the insurance company handling my claim and they guided me to another Enterprise to change vehicles. The second Enterprise was very professional, nice, and very concerned for my safety but the Enterprise on Stassney where Chris the manager works was not in any way concerned! Use your own judgement in determining whether to use the Enterprise office on Stassney! read more
