I had an appointment to pick up a car and they didn't have one ready when I got there. They ended up giving me a bigger car than I was supposed to have and when I got in it was clear it had just been very haphazardly cleaned. It smelled so strongly of stale weed and the cup holders and gear shifter were very sticky. I also found bits of food stuck in between the seats, like pieces of french fries. The seats all had sticky stains all over them. Really would not recommend coming here, as it was pretty disgusting. read more

My HUSBAND AND I made a reservation well in advance, confirmed it, and was still told less than 24 hours before pickup that there were no vehicles available -- not even an attempt to source one from another location. This has happened repeatedly. There's no follow-through, no proactive communication, and no effort to help customers when plans collapse because of their failures. A reservation should actually mean a vehicle is reserved. This location needs serious management review!!!!! I rented a car from these people. They took $900 Dollars from my debit card. I only had the car for two days. They claim to be customer friendly. They picked me up 2 miles from their store in Beverly where I work and brought me to their office. I live in Haverhill where there is another Enterprise and I wanted to drop the car off there as I was done with it. They wanted to charge me an extra $200 dollars to do this. These people are crooks! I will never rent from Enterprise again. Bill, the Manager in particular is inept and unprofessional. I returned a vehicle and he called me claiming there was a substantial amount of damage on the side of the vehicle that was not there prior to my renting it. I knew this was an absolute lie. Bill told me he would be filing a claim against me even though I told him I had only used the vehicle once, driven it under 10 miles and it was garaged the entire time. He dismissed what I had to say and told me the claim would be against me. I did not buy Enterprise's Insurance for the rental so I was very, very upset at this news. The next day, a different employee called me and said they found there was already a claim in place against the previous renter for some small ding on the side panel that I had actually not even noticed when I did the walk-around when first taking the car into my possession. I would have thought a reputable company like Enterprise would have at the very least reviewed the car's history prior to threatening me with a financial claim for damage I didn't do. The fact that is was a "Manager" that committed this error is even more telling. Do yourself a favor and choose Hertz or any other car rental company than Enterprise to avoid undue stress and financial gouging. read more

Do not trust Bill at this location or the location's district manager, Joe, or Kristen. They are downright malicious when you don't allow them to strong-arm you into overpaying for redundant, unnecessary insurance, and they will take it out on you if you don't buy more than you need. Stay away from all Enterprises in Joe's district, including the Danvers location on 114, and the Peabody location on 114, all part of the same group. The bad apple seems to be at the top, and you just don't want to get involved. read more

I had to get a rental while my car was in the body shop. Of course the insurance companies got everything in the claim a mess. The two wonderful women at Enterprise there went through all the insurance mumbo jumbo and got me the car I needed. They were super nice and accommodating. Thank you! In town from San Diego, CA for a wedding in Boston, Enterprise on Rantoul was ready and willing to meet the best price that we found, plus beat it by 10%. Additionally, after initially only wanting the car for 1 day, the store manager - Kim - said that it was 50% off if we wanted to keep it for the weekend, no pressure, and no need to decide until we were to turn it in the following morning. Well, shoot. With the fall leaves, and beautiful coast awaitin' to be seen, why not? Plus, a mid-size car ran us $24/day - not a bad gig at all! The staff was all friendly and helpful (especially with directions), and the process was simple and enjoyable. I highly recommend checking this store location out - plus, it's an easy 5 minute walk from the train station in Beverly, and you skip out on the ridiculous "airport tax" by renting it straight from the airport (all companies do this). I am so upset! I had a special trip planned to New York and I have a LEGAL temporary license because I just moved here and Massachusetts requires that you surrender your out of state license. I also have a US passport and have rented from them before and they refused to rent me a car because they didn't believe the temporary one ISSUED FROM THE STATE was real. My entire trip down the drain just because I did everything the legal way in Massachusetts. RIDICULOUS! I am furious and will be filing in small claims court. I called their corporate office and asked and they said it's up to each office whether they want to rent or not based off of anything could be looks could be accent you name it. I had a great experience at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Beverly this past weekend. I had a weekend deal for a great price that I didn't notice had a mileage limit and I was going for a long road trip to see family. I asked the salesman if I could change the reservation to a higher mileage and gritted my teeth hoping that the price wouldn't be exorbitantly increased. To my delight I was charged a minimal increase and was upgraded to a mid-size! The staff was very courteous and helpful and we even had a nice discussion about football and other sports we watch while we waited for the rental car to pull up. There wasn't a lot of pressure on the insurance upsell and no hassle returning the car as I dropped the keys in the drop box after a long weekend and received a phone call the next morning saying the car was received without any damages and a final price which hadn't changed from my original quote. My insurance company, Plymouth Rock, has a "door to door" accident repair program. I got my temp rental a block away from the repair shop. I was in and out quickly, dropped the car at the shop when finished. Good experience. read more

I'm writing this for the improvement. I've rented from this particular Beverly Enterprise locations about a half dozen times in the last two years. Most of the time it's been "meh" ... with one frustrating thing: the location's hours are decidedly suburban (limited Saturday and nothing Sunday) but they charge you for the time they are closed. In other words, there is no such thing as a return Saturday after close (you get charged thru Monday.) That said, this last time I rented was truly a treat and I'm pretty sure it's because the staff has changed. Lindsay, if you get her, is a dream. Smart, helpful, proactive, efficient, nice. And the other customer service person I dealt with when I needed to extend the rental by two days was also great to deal with. Beverly is on the way up. Especially with the new MBTA parking lot at the station, and with the Enterprise located right there, it's really easy for me to Boston-Beverly-anywhere it. A good experience. read more

I was in need of a rental car due to my car breaking down unexpectedly. I walked over to the Enterprise office first thing on a Saturday morning but they didn't have any cars at that moment. I received a call later in the morning that they had a car available. Even though I was looking for a small car, the only car they had available was a full size pick up truck. They still charged me the small car rate and made sure that I had a vehicle to drive that morning. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and gave friendly service. I feel very good about my experience and look forward to renting a car from them in the future. read more

Rented a "standard size" car for a week. It was a Jetta, which I normally like. This one had over 30,000 miles on it, the transmission slipped terribly and the brakes made a scraping sound when I stepped on them. In short a junker. I really didn't know if it was going to get me to my next destination every time I got into it. I expect major rental car companies to provide new cars. Next time I'll try Avis or Hertz, not "rent a wreck". read more

Worst experience! Their customer service was terrible. While waiting to return my car they told a customer he had to pay $300 to rent and the customer said he always rents cars and its $50. After hearing that the rep tried to get him down to $150 saying they would refund what isn't used. Needless to say they only charged him $50 like he started off by saying. When it was finally my turn I told them I needed a ride to Saugus to get my car and was told it was to far. I drove to Saugus enterprise and it was closed. I was told they work limited hours when I called over to Beverly and was told it's a satellite location and they work different hours. I drove to the repair shop and inside was an enterprise which would have been nice of enterprise to know since they knew where my car was being repaired. I would not recommend the Beverly location to anyone. They do not know what they are doing and want to rip you off. They say you have to put down $300, but fight it and they will charge you the correct rate. read more
