The mini van's front end was out of alignment so there was a lot of play on the wheel, so I was afraid to let my daughter drive the mini van plus the left back tire kept losing air and I had to keep putting more air in it. So my daughter never drove it due to the condition of the mini van, which I told the Budget employee about when I returned the car. When I called to protest the additional charge from Budget I saw on my credit card, I called to have it credited back to my Visa. But Budget denied crediting me back the $79.44. I have always used Budget but unless they do the right thing, I won't ever again.

I felt I had no choice but to at least look at the van and try to request a discounted price. The van was old and dirty, and it looked like it had been used in the commission of a crime. It had a strange odor, as if something had decomposed inside, and there were stains on the upholstery that looked like dried blood. It had clearly not been cleaned or vacuumed, and it seemed as if potential evidence from a serious incident could still be present. When I checked the back to see if the seats could be adjusted, a section fell apart, making it look as though a struggle had taken place there. I immediately asked for a refund because there was no way I was going to leave my fingerprints or DNA in that van. It is unbelievable that a rental company can effectively cancel a prepaid reservation, offer such an unacceptable replacement, and derail a trip with nothing more than a simple "sorry."

We're in an insurance rental after someone hit my wife's car -- never a fun situation to begin with -- but Zach, Sam, and Sophia somehow turned this whole experience into something surprisingly positive. I swear these three must have Jedi training. Patient with every single question, remembered details I forgot I even said, and somehow managed to hunt down an electric vehicle for us -- which is nearly a mythical creature in rental fleets right now. Zach is the calm problem-solver, Sam works like she's secretly running mission control for NASA, and Sophia has the type of customer service energy that makes you forget you're dealing with insurance paperwork in the first place. And huge shout-out to Jen over at the "Exotic Rentals" location on Autopilot Drive. I don't know what her official title is, but I'm pretty sure she's the one actually holding the multiverse together. She helped from behind the scenes like she's done this in another lifetime. Bottom line? This is one of the very rare rental car teams that operates with hustle, humor, and actual humanity. Not just "here's the keys, good luck." More like "don't worry -- we got you." They provide reservations that they can't honor when you show up. They try to switch you to other cars, either a lower priced car without lowering your price you reserved, or a more expensive car, and they'll charge you the increase. Worse yet, they may not even have a car available at all and you're stuck with nothing. They don't care either, it's pretty obvious how they treat you. The local office referred me to talk to the company's customer service and they were horrible as well. There are better rental car companies, I've had a much better experience at Enterprise rental car. Avis/Budget company is not customer service oriented. Don't be fooled by their lower price when you shop on Expedia or elsewhere. Bait and switch at it's worse. Who owns this company now? It can't be the same. They are trash.
