This was one of the better managed, clean, well kept, locations I've had to use in a long time, especially in this area vs the 62nd St, Woodside location that was short-staffed, inefficient, dirty and dingy shack-like. Because my car was hit in the rear bumper when I was parked, we had to rent a car under my Geico policy. Jamar, the rep that helped us at this location was very courteous, knowledgeable, efficient and effective with accommodating our requirements and switching out quickly cars when we needed to during the 2 weeks we had to wait for our car repair. The cars we received for the rental all ran well and were kept in very good and clean conditions, which was a pleasure to drive when it's not your own car. Also, the other reps we dealt with briefly when Jamar was busy with other customers, were also very courteous and helpful as well, which we appreciated. I had a pretty great experience at this Enterprise! After an unfortunate car accident, my insurance company (Geico) referred me to this location closest to my apartment. This Enterprise seems to work with the auto body shop we used and the whole process was pretty seamless. We had made an appointment with Enterprise through Geico and when we were at the car shop, the car shop called Enterprise for us and someone came to the shop to shuttle us to the rental place. Once at Enterprise, the employees very helpfully suggested a couple cars to us, noting which ones would still be within our daily comped rate once the taxes were included. I'm assuming this Enterprise must do the bulk of its business from Geico referrals (or possibly other insurance companies). Everything was billed directly to Geico and we only had to bring a credit card in case we incurred extra charges. After driving our rental around for a day or two, we noticed a strong chemical smell - we guess it might have been strong cleaning solvents to cover up smoking or other smells from previous renters. The smell was a little nauseating so we reached out to customer service via email and they were super helpful, suggesting we drop by again to switch cars. We were upgraded to a nicer SUV (without going over our comped daily rate from Geico) and were able to be in and out pretty quickly. The customer service was great and the employees were more than helpful. When it came time to pick up our fixed car, we were able to hitch another ride from Enterprise to the auto body shop as well. We had a terrible experience here. We reserved a car to pick up at 11am and had to wait for an hour as we were told there's no cars available whatsoever. There was a line of people waiting. When it was finally our turn, we were told the car we reserved wasn't available so we could either take a much bigger and more expensive car or we continue to wait with no clarity on what would happen next. I was recently involved in a car accident and my car was totaled. My insurance company messed up the billing on the rental car and attempted to end it. This location called my insurance companys corporate office and straightened it out, they really went above and beyond and it felt like they were the only people who helped me dealing with this. I had a rental for two weeks from them and there customer service was amazing. The staff is very nice and personable no wait at all on the pickup or drop-off. I have rented cars all over the country and this is by far the best rental location Iv ever delt with. After a couple years renting cars from rental locations (not Enterprise) at LaGuardia, I stumbled upon this Enterprise about 10 minutes away from my apartment. I booked a one-day rental (Saturday 9 a.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m). From the moment I arrived to pick up the car, to when I dropped the car off, the entire experience was great. Every employee was friendly and outgoing. The process to pickup and drop off the car was beyond quick and smooth. Definitely recommend if you need a rental. read more

Putting the 'low-rent' in rental car agencies. How....HOW on earth does this abysmal place have such a high rating?? I've been to a handful of Enterprises with far, far lower average ratings that seem like bliss compared to this freak show. To start with, this business is located in a pretty sketch part of town in a MINUSCULE lot surrounded by barbed wire and a gun turret (okay, so maybe the latter isn't true, but the former certainly was). There was trash all over the place and the overall look + feel was very dirty and dingy. The lot itself had a handful of potholes and the rental office was little more than a ghetto-ass trailer on risers. Since the entry/exit was a 1-way deal, getting cars in and out was a laborious task. Consider also that due to space constraints, many of their cars were on manual lifts, stacked above other cars. Adding to the interminable wait were a few employees idly standing around with zero sense of urgency. Not like we had anywhere important to be...except that we totally did. Way to take your sweet muthafluffin' time, dudes. The only "standard size" vehicle they had in stock was a beat-up beige Hyundai Accent that was barely road-worthy. We were promised a "full size" and essentially got downgraded to a hopeless turd of a car. Terrific. Besides the (what I assume were) cigarette burns on the upholstery, the floormats were stained with an unknown fluid (???), something odd was poking out of the driver's seat, the rear fender had a noticeable scratch (but because it was less then 6", they "generally ignore it", the salesman said), and to top off the sh*t cake, the goddamn front-right quarter panel was FALLING OFF. Like what in the actual hell? If I was Enterprise, I'd be absolutely embarrassed to loan this vehicle to a customer. I'd also be ashamed that so much litter was just floating around the rental property, like it's no big deal. Also.....I'm not saying that other reviewers aren't super duper trustworthy, but most have 1 review. As in, this place is their sole review, so perhaps their basis for comparison isn't the most robust? Just sayin'. Would I recommend? The Astoria, NY location (2518 38th Ave Long Island City, NY, US, 11101) had the worst customer service to say the least. When we went to pick up the car, Amanda (who later told us she was the manager) didn't give us the car that we signed up for. Instead, she gave us an electric car that was only charged for 60 miles and she told us it was charged for 300 and we wouldn't have any problems. We asked her to explain how to use the car because we have never driven an electric car and she said don't worry you can find a charging station anywhere. When we questioned her on how the car worked, she didn't give us information on how to find charging stations and she assured us that it was good for 300 miles and she rushed us out because it was the Friday before memorial day weekend. Turned out, it wasn't. We got stranded at night after driving only 60 miles. It was very stressful, trying to find a charging station. The first place took us to a business not open to the public. The only place we could find a charging station was in the parking lot of a college and the charger said it was going to take 13 hours to charge. After several calls to customer service, we finally found somebody that was willing to help us and she called an Uber driver for us but told us to take the keys to the car with us because she said the tow truck drivers prefer the keys not be left with the car. So the Uber driver took us to our destination but around midnight we got a call from the tow truck driver asking where the keys were. We told him that the customer service representative for Enterprise told us to take the keys. He was confused and said he couldn't tow the car. So the next morning we called Amanda at the Astoria Enterprise and attempted to tell her what happened and she would not let us speak at all. She kept talking over us telling us we had to go to an airport to get a different car. We were very far from an airport, and we had no way to get there and had an event that we needed to get to within the next two hours which was the reason why we came in for the trip. She accused us of lying and stated that we went over 300 miles and that was why the car ran out of a charge. We didn't lie. We only drove around 60 miles. She provided no customer service to us whatsoever and was extremely rude by not even letting us speak during the phone call to her. We had to call several Enterprises looking for a car which was difficult on a holiday weekend. We finally found one in Easton Pennsylvania, where we were staying. We had to take an Uber to get there and when we got to the location, they wanted to know if the car was towed that we were told to leave at the college parking lot and we had no idea. He wasn't sure if he would be able to give us a car if we didn't know. He finally got it approved to give us another car and the only one that was left was a jeep truck, which was something I had never driven and very difficult to get into. We did get part of our rental payment refunded because of this huge mess but there were no apologies, no call from corporate, and it should've just been free. We are now very hesitant to rent again from or recommend Enterprise to anyone and this so-called manager, Amanda, needs to be retrained on how to provide customer service and how to speak to customers. read more

This place is a nuisance to the neighborhood. Can't walk down the block without weaving through the 6 cars parked on the sidewalk. Not to mention can't find a place to park your own car since they park many of their cars on the street instead of the empty factory they do business out of. Are these practices even legal? UPDATE: 9 months and countless 311 complaints and calls to corporate later - this business is still making it impossible for people who live here to walk down the street AND now add the face that employees drive the cars (the few that are still in there and not taking up space on the sidewalk or parked out in the street or sidewalk) of the factory without any concern for who may be walking past. I can't count the times I've been startled by an Enterprise employee gunning the gas as they emerge from inside the space. if I had the option for negative, I'd put negative with no hesitation. The team was okay but the manager; Amanda, was super unprofessional. It was a Friday and turns out my reserved rental was given out to someone else and I was given a compact. I asked for reimbursement as I was charged for a full size. she said there is not anything they can do and that we have to comply with it. She gave me no options. I said I'd rather go to another rental place and she said I can. she was just so rude and the other employees were just looking and could not say anything as she runs the shop. just disgusting. It'd be okay to run the shop with discipline but know the rules. I went to another location and they were sorry I had to go through this. They told me that as a paying customer, if I do not get what I pay for, they would have to reimburse me the difference. Just smh. Disgusted. this one bad experience negated all my good experiences so far with enterprise. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! Had a reservation set for 9am and the car wasn't even onsite. I was told the cars were coming from flushing and had left at 8am... FYI it doesn't take an 1 & 1/2 hrs to drive from flushing to astrioia. But, when the cars did arrive I found out why the car took so long. The driver ended up stopping to get breakfast before he brought the car to the location. WTF?? You have a job to do! Eat before you start working! People rent a car a specific time because they obligations. Because of there lack of professionalism I'm going to be extremely late to my meeting. FAIL! They never keep the lot stocked and their prices are often TWICE as much as their competition. $150 for a compact car on a Thursday!?!?!?! The woman I called after was equally rude and dismissive. Maybe it was a Sunday and this was a b team but you lost a customer for life. I rented a vehicle here while my car was in the repair shop for a no-fault damage it incurred while parked in a garage. The employees here made the process seamless. They had received my insurance coverage claim and made sure I got in and out without much delay. The rental return was equally professional, and they honored the pricing as agreed upon with my insurance without trying in any way to sneak in underhanded fees or expenses. I wish I could give this location zero stars. I rented a car through the issuance company. This location had limited full-size vehicles. I was forced to take a compact SUV and the car also had dings and scratches everywhere. Instead up bumping me up like other rental companies do, they tell me to take the car and call in a few days if I wish to switch. I called them and emailed them and no one responds. There is a total lack of customer service. When I called the corporate office they tell me that location forward phones to "voicemail not set up" when they are busy.... What?!?! This Astoria Enterprise Rent-A-Car has the best customer service of any organization in any context in any industry, ever in the history of human existence. I first rented a car from her 3 years ago because my GF lived in Astoria and it was the closest branch. I now live in Flatbush, Brooklyn but I always make the trip to Astoria to rent my cars from this branch specifically, because of the amazing customer service here, (even though there are closer car rental places to my apartment). The staff is always super friendly, and helpful and there have been several instances where I have had to make adjustments over the phone after booking a car and online and I was always able to do it with 0 hassle or pushback. As someone who works in customer service, I have to say Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Astoria is a shining beacon of top level customer service and overall professionalism. We just rented from this location and it was our first time.( 1st time from astoria) We usually go to the one on woodside and if its an emergency on sunday we go to laguadia which is always a mess. But i couldnt believe how smooth the whole process was. The accociate that helped me was Nicole. I did not even have to step inside the office. Everything was done outside electronically. What can be better than that. ( i rented for a day) best day ever! Returning the car was even more simple and they helped me so much. Justin and their team helped me take care of everything. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED I have rented cars from this place maybe about 10 times and every.single.time this place has been amazing. They truly pride themselves on good customer service. It is surprising to me because a rental car place is definitely not the first place I would think to have exceptional service. Other places I have been it has just been very business like. I pretty much know some of these people by name. I once rented a car here and it was winter so the their hose has frozen overnight so they were unable to wash the outside of the car I was picking up. The agent offered that I could wait here and he would bring it to a car wash or he would give me the $10. to bring it if I were so inclined. Above and beyond. Everytime. Last year, a van full of agitated elderly Asian women ran a red light and drove into my car while it was parked in front of my house. While it was being repaired, I got a rental from Enterprise. First of all, Enterprise has the great option to pick you up for a rental, which is perfect if you're having issues with your car. However, I was picked up by a guy in an Affliction t-shirt BLASTING house music. I would like to think a courtesy ride could avoid EDX's "No Excuses" at 100 dB. The shop itself is a very small (almost temporary-looking) office building with a small lot in the back. I was given a Jeep. When I actually got the car, it was nasty. The wiper fluid and tire pressure lights were both on. The dashboard and all of the upholstery was filthy. I went back upstairs to say something but they told me it was the only car. I had no major issues during my rental, but it was really unpleasant driving around such a ratty car. The manager, Andrea, was friendly when I brought the car back, but I had to listen to employees complaining the whole time about life, their job, and bad customers. I received a newish Mazda with a missing hubcap and no power locks and paid $200 for it for three days (during the week). I was most pleased with my experience at Enterprise. Everyone was courteous, professional and very helpful. I called a few days ahead of time to reserve a car. Got there about an hour before closing and everything was ready. I was even given the option of which economy car I actually wanted to take. I chose the 2013 Hyundai Accent. It was perfect for the occasion. Upon returning the car I was again very pleased with the professionalism of the staff, pleasant attitude and willingness to be supportive. I would call the the one morning and talk to Ean, asking him specific questions about car rental, and then once being there he would turn his words to something completely different in front of the manager. Manager overall not friendly at all either. I told him that I had rent cars already before and he would reply " that's wrong, I shouldn't have gotten it". Not friendly at all. More rude. I feel like rental car reviews skew bad because not many people bother to review unless they've had a bad experience. Now, I'm not saying these guys are perfect, but I've always been happy with the service here. It does get busy during peak times (hello, Monday morning before work), but it seems like the people here really care about getting you in and out ASAP. Most of the time, the cars are clean and well-kept, and they upgraded me a couple times because my selected car class was not available. Most recently, the car they gave me was pretty dirty on the inside (outside I don't care about), but it ran fine and I was only using it for 1 day to run some errands out on LI, so I didn't bother bringing it right back. When I mentioned it upon returning, they profusely apologized and gave me a discount on the rental, which I appreciated. If you rent a decent amount (I rent once every 6 weeks or so), it's worth it to join their membership points program - you'll accumulate points and get a free rental every now & then, depending on how much you pay for your cars. read more

That being said, corporate policies are no fault of the staff at individual locations, and the staff here is wonderful and very nice. Rented a car on this busy, 4th of July weekend, and was impressed with being in and out both picking up and returning, despite crowds at both peak business times. There was a slight problem with my car, and without hesitation, they gave a more than fair discount. I was at first reluctant to rent from this local branch. I usually go with the Big Guys at the airport. But I was buoyed by the great overall reviews here on Yelp, and the great price I got on the online Enterprise site for an Intermediate SUV for 4th of July weekend. Well, I should not have been worried! Though a small site, there were still plenty of cars despite the holiday, and the staff there had managed to get through all their 75 reservations by the time I got there at 5 pm, so that mob scene I feared didn't happen. The service I got from Boris and the manager JC was top-notch: efficient and friendly. Boris picked me up at my home in Astoria and brought me to the office. And without me even asking, Boris upgraded me to a Standard SUV (a Hyundai Santa Fe instead of a Jeep) for the same price, knowing that I'd be going to Boston with my elderly parents and they needed a comfort ride. The rest of the office staff was also friendly. Another manager gave me a Tootsie Roll lollipop while Boris did the paperwork. And the Hyundai was low mileage, clean and totally reliable. From now, this local Enterprise office will be my #1 place to rent a car. read more

The people were very nice, however, the van we rented was in very poor shape. The key stopped working, thankfully, once we reached our destination. The Enterprise location in Buffalo was good enough to give us a new van at no charge. The fact that the location has very poor hours doesn't help, either. Most locations offer an EZ Pass for tolls, but not here. Very odd. Overall, good service, but you should ask to have the car cleaned and checked before picking it up. read more
