With a car in the shop waiting for a part we needed a rental to get around and Enterprise is really the only option in Gainesville. Making the reservation was easy and we have had Emerald Club for years so expected to be offered an upgrade but they didn't, we had to ask for it. Paperwork complete we waited for the car to be pulled up front, and waited, and waited. 40 minutes later we finally get the car. Reserved car for business trip. Upon pickup, I was told my rental option was a 15 passenger van. What ? I stated this was not going to work. And then respectfully said, "this is not the type of car i reserved" (which was a mid size SUV) The reply was, "and your reservation was at noon". Got me; it was 1:30. One of the most unaccomodating and lack of customer support that i have every had at a rental car pick-up. Sometimes you stay and fight/argue. Sometime you just walk away. They gave me a car that did not have the oil change up to date, it did not start!! on the way to the airport and their road side assistance was not going to get to me, had to jump it myself and drive it 7 hours without turning it off praying it gets me to the airport safely! A great experience here. Geico paid for our rental. The rental was on time and the rep that drove the car out to us was very nice. He pointed out and documented scratches and bang ups while we were there before handing it over. I did the same. Just in case. Never know! We returned the car a couple days later with no issue and the same nice guy signed it back to Enterprise and waved goodbye. We were pleased with the rep and the service. Just wished we were issued a better looking rental but that's small in the world of bigger issues we were already having. Overall, we had a good experience here. read more

Jen and Sarah were so thoughtful, honest and made sure they took the time to put me in the right rental for my needs. This location is walking distance from my house. I must say enterprise has a loyal customer in me and my family because of their attention to the customer needs and cheerfulness. As I returned. a previous rental back in September, I explained to Sarah that my daughter's wedding was in November and we wanted a large SUV like a Suburban instead of a limo or anything else. We asked them to please get us the nicest white Chevy suburban they can find. Not only did they deliver but they gave me options of two styles. They made the notes and remembered the customer needs. I booked a full size car for a two week rental a month ago. They gave me a dirty bright red minivan instead. They offered to clean it if I waited, but I didn't have time. The minivan also was not full of gas. They said it was at 3/4, but it's actually less than that. I also asked if they would drive me home when I dropped off the vehicle under their "we'll pick you up" offer. They said no. I live five miles away... They also charge an extra "security fee" on top of the rental charge here. This was not revealed when I reserved the car. My son needed a car rental for a week because his car needed a brake job and the parts were taking longer than expected to arrive. We decided to go with Enterprise, from the Gainesville location (we had used them before without any problems, and it was very affordable). My son booked the rental through USAA insurance that he has, with discounts. The rental was $178 for the week. (He declined the Enterprise insurance, since it was already covered nicely through USAA.) When he arrived to rent the car, they said he needed to use his credit or debit card, not pay in cash. I said I would just rent the car and since the website mentioned a "2nd driver was free". But they said that was ONLY if we were on the same insurance policy. (We are both USAA members, but have our own policies.) So, we made a trip to his bank to put the $200 they said they needed to prepay the rental in his account. Back to Enterprise. He told them the money was now in his account and they could continue the rental procedure. They then told him that, 'No, if he was using a debit card, they needed ANOTHER $200 on top of that for a security deposit, but he would get that all back after the rental, assuming nothing was wrong with the car and gas was filled, etc.' So, back to the bank to transfer the needed funds. Then back to Enterprise for the 3rd time. Now they were satisfied and rented him the car. In fact, they said since there was such a mixup, they 'gave him a nicer car' than the one he originally set up. Out in the parking lot, while inspecting the car before he took it, the saleperson kept talking about the insurance he wasn't taking and sold him on taking the Enterprise insurance after all, which he reluctantly initialed in the parking lot on the contract. Considering that we were already into the 3rd hour trying to rent the car and he had a full day of work he was supposed to be doing, meeting clients, etc., we were both just trying to get the car and get going! The car worked well, the brake job on his own car was finally done (although it took an extra day, so we notified Enterprise that another day was required and they said it would be an additional $35.60). My son cleaned and vacuumed out the car so it was in perfect condition, filled the gas tank to the same level as when he received it, and returned it on time. Now for the unexpected surprise. They said the car was fine and that they would email the reconciliation paperwork. My son expected to see the majority of the security deposit back in his account, but instead it wasn't there. He contacted Enterprise and was told that HE owed THEM additional money! They charged him $47 per day for their insurance, ON TOP of the $35.60 per day in rental costs. (My son thought when they were pushing the insurance and mentioning $47 that they meant it would be $47 per day, including the insurance, not $47 on top of the $35.60.) So, instead of them owing him a refund on his deposit, he owes THEM, as the total for the one week and a day rental now totals $495.60 plus tax, etc. Is this the sort of company YOU want to rent from? read more

ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE. My father rented a car at this shop and he speaks limited English. When he spoke with the associate he handed her his car insurance card along with all of our insurance information because our insurance would have covered the car rental in full. However, they deliberately took advantage of the fact that my dad could not speak English well and scammed him into signing up for Enterprise Insurance instead of our car insurance. My father was told that the papers he was signing were just to rent the car out, not that he was signing up for ANOTHER INSURANCE. Our credit card was charged and after I called the store to dispute this, they IMMEDIATELY became defensive and disrespectful stating that since my dad signed it, it was too late and they would not give a refund NOR bill it out to our insurance company. It is absolutely disgusting and horrific how there are actual people who take advantage of people by whatever means. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing to my father and having him UNNECESSARILY sign up for Enterprise Insurance when my father ALREADY HAS INSURANCE and he provided that information to them. Had to use Enterprise after a small bumper to bumper incident in a Giant parking lot. They gave me a great deal on a new Chrysler plug-in hybrid van with very low mileage and even extended the rate to me for another week pst what my insurance paid for. I could not be happier with this experience. The vehicle was clean, new, drove great and I used to plug-in feature for all of my local driving and hybrid mode for a trip with a combined 66 Miles Per Gallon. I would have gone out to buy one if only they had automatic folding side mirrors. Toll Brothers garages are not wide enough for this vehicle without first folding in the side mirrors. My rental experience was good from the time I picked the car up until I returned it. However, the billing and customer service over the phone was not satisfactory: Although my car rental was covered by my insurance, I decided to purchase optional liability protection for approximately $18 per day. However, Enterprise charged my debit card for an extra day. After waiting on the phone for 15 minutes, I spoke with Justin and then a manager named Jessica. Jessica said she would have to "take my word for it" that I only had the car for two days instead of three, and that it was probably an error with their system. She offered to process a refund for the amount I was overcharged, but said I would have to wait a week to receive the money and suggested I contact my bank to resolve Enterprise's error more quickly. read more

The car they gave me is my big issue. A piece of junk which might not be considered a vehicle since my lawnmower drives better? I didn't want to deal with taking off from work to return it for a new one, so I made due. The engine and/or transmission is shot. It sounds like a little kid's power wheel vehicle. Seriously! It took a lot to make it go and it had issues shifting gears. Sometimes the vehicle would shake and felt like the engine was going to die. LOL This was while I was pushing the gas by the way. Maybe it was a 2 cylinder? SMH I rented a hooptie! I told them after it was returned that they needed to get the vehicle serviced and the same info above minus the hooptie. I've rented from this location a couple of times and keep asking myself why I go back! I guess the short answer is that it's close because it is surely not for the cars or the employees' sunny personalities! One time I got a PT Cruiser...cool! Or so I thought. It was filthy!! I was supposed to get "picked up" by the employee because, after all, thats their advertisement. After 2 hours of waiting to get picked up, I cancelled my reservation and borrowed a car from a neighbor! This time I called ahead to reserve a car last minute. Asked for the cheapest car they had. I was told htey had an intermediate for roughly $50 with taxes, etc. Ok, I'll take it. Then I'm told, oh wait, we only have full size, $65...shocking! I was in a bind so I had to take it. Another shocker, it's filthy! Looks like the outside has never been washed, the windshield has 3 separate circles left over from GPS mounts and it smells like they are trying to cover up cigarette smell. Then, when I drove around the building to get out of the parking area, I found the representative washing an economy car. Now, could it have been just returned, sure. I received an attitude the entire time I was in the facility I was treated with total disregard. After experiencing such horrible service the entire time I was made to stand outside to wait for my ride for about 11 minutes in the 34 degree weather. About a year and a half ago I was traveling quite a bit for work. I rented from the Gainesville Enterprise about 5 times then, and I never had a bad experience with a vehicle. I would say that the customer service improved as they recognized me as a repeat customer, but at first glance, it was professionally standoffish. I had the need to rent recently and it was a last minute thing, as you don't plan the time to wreck your personal vehicle. All they had available was a Silverado pick up truck or a Tahoe SUV. I chose the SUV. As with my previous experiences with G-ville Enterprise, the vehicle was clean and had very low mileage. As for customer service, they had changed out the entire crew, so we were back to professionally standoffish, but whatever, right? I got what I needed and all was good. read more

This is the second time in two uses that I've run into the same problem. Why advertise that you will pick up customers if the customer is left waiting well beyond the scheduled time if pick up. I called last night to set pickup for 9:00 AM. 9:05 AM, no Enterprise. I call and speak to a worker and they inform me that no one is on their way but they see the error and will send someone. I had the misfortune of renting a car from Enterprise Gainesville VA back in February when my car was in the shop having body work done. The fun began when one employee, a rather large man who seemed to fancy himself the next Eminem came to pick me up and bring me to the office to sign paperwork. He blared music and was playing with his phone throughout the fortunately very short ride to the office. He then hastily went through the damage checklist and other procedures and had me initial and sign in a few places and I was on my way. The part that really makes my blood boil was at no point did he mention anything about insurance - he did not ask if I wanted insurance nor did I request it. About a week later when I went to return the vehicle I was presented with a bill of nearly $200 for the 'additional insurance' I supposedly agreed to. I didn't have time to stand at the counter and argue so I later called the manager and demanded an explanation and refund. Numerous calls were made but none returned. I later contested the charge with my credit card company but was denied as they had paperwork with my signature agreeing to the insurance; the insurance no one mentioned to me and I never asked for. I should have looked more closely at the rental agreement but the fact it was snuck in there just reeks of sleazy business practices as I'm sure Mr. soon-to-be marshall mathers makes commission off additional insurance. I will never rent from any Enterprise location again. Disgusting sales tactics like this are intolerable and I find it hard to believe companies still try to pull them off these days when they know full well they'll be crucified by customers online for it. **EXTORTION** (Two stars only because I'm an Enterprise Plus member and have had great service elsewhere.) This branch had a credit card on file for my rental & charging it periodically. At one point, I made a single 1-time payment over the phone with a business bank card. Kevin Webb ILLEGALLY STORED THIS INFORMATION & proceeded to make MULTIPLE ILLEGAL & UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES ON IT. This goes against the Enterprise privacy policy, the fine print within the rental contract, & Virginia law. When I found out, I called the branch & spoke w/ Jessica. She acknowledged that Kevin should NOT have done this, but refused to refund the money unless I came in and made a payment, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO MONEY OWED & MY ACCOUNT WAS UP TO DATE! I explained it's illegal to admit fault and refuse to right the wrong unless the other party does what you want. THAT'S CALLED EXTORTION. Her justification was that she was new. This ILLEGAL action hasn't been fixed. And conveniently Kevin Webb has stopped returning phone calls and responding to emails. This was the worst experience I have ever had in renting a vehicle. I was in an accident that was not my fault, my car is probably totaled, so the insurance company set up for me to get a rental. When I called the rental company they first told me they didn't have anything and to call the Manassas location, so I called them and was told the same thing, all they had were trucks and minivans and was told to call the Gainesville office back or Warrenton. I called Gainesville back and said I know all you have are trucks and minivans, so can I come up and get a van. The guy that answered the phone said who told you that was all we had? I said I thought it was you, he said no I have other vehicles come on up and I'll get you in one. So I went straight up there gave all my information and then was told I had to give them a $100 deposit, I said no this is covered under insurance, he said its our policy to still take a deposit. So I called Progressive Insurance who is handling the complaint, the agent told me "no they signed a contract August 16th 2018 stating they would not charge deposits for Progressive customers".....he then said let me call Enterprise there and explain this to them, I was standing there when the agent called, first the girl answered and said its our protocol to charge, the Progressive agent then said let me talk to a supervisor, so the guy Brandyn the supervisor that was adamant that I pay the deposit to begin with, walks back to a phone stating "what's he want to talk to me about, she's gonna pay one way or another". He then picks up the phone and tells the agent that its up to his discretion on what he charges and that he has been burned by Progressive customers before. Brandyn the supervisor refuses to comply with what the Progressive agent has told him, he hangs up and comes back to me and say's he can charge me whatever he wants at his discretion, I tell him you are not getting my credit card, he gets in my face and say's "you can't pay 5 bucks, I said yes I can but you aren't getting my card". Needless to say it escalated from there, its now the principal of the whole thing. I was still on hold with Progressive agent, he came back on and told me what he said and told me this will now be escalated, the agent even agreed that the supervisor Brandyn was as arrogant as they get and very rude and that there was no talking to him, that he already had his mind made up and that he was on some kind of power trip. Then the girls started talking to me from the desk as I was still on the phone with the agent, and I said your boss is a dick", they then asked me to leave, I told them I will when I finish talking to the agent, the girl said "that doesn't matter, we will not rent you a car today". I said that's fine, because I will never rent a car from here. When I got home I received a call from the original Progressive agent helping me with the whole process and she told me she received an email from the Progressive agent that was helping me while I was at the car rental, and said he had said the same thing. It is now being escalated to the higher ups. I also called Enterprise Corporate office and was fed the same bull.....these people have absolutely zero customer service skills. If you want to deal with people that can charge you whatever they want at "their own discretion" then this is the place for you. If you want to deal with professionals, go somewhere else!!!! read more

Bad experience from this place. We were charged $239 for extra insurance we declined. My wife was in a hurry to leave with the rental car because she had to get to work. When asked if she wanted extra insurance, my wife said no. The sales person that dropped off the car to her, tried to persuade her to get it because "there are lots of deer in the area", my wife said no, she didn't want it...... A couple of weeks later a charge of $239 is on my account. I called them to get that refunded and they said no, that my wife had signed for it. I reminded them about the conversation my wife had with them and that she had declined it. To know avail. The sales person commented on the phone that she would meet halfway and refund half even though she signed for it. That's totally unacceptable. After reading some of the other complaints on here, sounds like they have done the insurance charge with others. My card hold that they did, covers my car with MY auto insurance! Why would I get extra with Enterprise? Makes no sense! I will never use this company again. Horrible customer service. read more

The Gainesville location has got to be the busiest location in the state of VA It needs to be at least 3x's the size it is now- with that said, the employees at this location are the best. I rent cars at least twice a week during the spring months, sometimes with very short notice and they are always accommodating. I wouldn't want to go any where else! read more

They are crooks. Never would I think of renting from them. I rented a car from them and when I returned it they made a claim to my insurance about a very small scratch and charged my card $500. That scratch was there before I rented it, Im very sure. That small scratch is not even worth 50. My advice, never rent from them but if you do , take as many pictures as can when they give it to you and look at any tiny detail. These people cannot be trusted. read more
