The employees here were very nice, but the car I rented is a wreck. There is a horrible noise coming from the rear tires and the wipers are just shredded rubber. I received a phone call 90 minutes prior to my rental pick up time to tell me that they had no car for my reservation. I was in a work meeting so I didn't see or listen to the call until I was already on the way to get dropped off. Then I had to deal with the 800 customer service phone tree to try and work out the billing since it was cancelled after the pick up time. What a disaster. read more

Picked up a Hertz Rental Car from this location. This is the closest Hertz location to the Gainesville-Haymarket, VA area. It's located at Manassas Regional Airport. Because this is a small regional airport, it's not as busy and therefore not as well manned as a Hertz location at larger airports - such as Dulles International Airport. I had to wait about 20 minutes for the counter person to come back, they were out dealing with another vehicle. The lobby is cool and comfortable, air conditioned with seating and a television to watch while you are waiting. Drop off was much easier - just left the keys in the drop box. read more

Great location with EZ access from Route 28 & Route 234. They will pick you up, take you to get your car & do the same for a return with no fee, you just don't want to be in a hurry. Manassas Regional is a very busy airport. There is also substantial representation from some large DOD Contractors as well a US Customs presence. As a result there are always a fair amount of cars available on the lot; usually in the range of 20 or so. They are open from 730a to 6pm Monday to Friday. read more

Don't do business with them! They are so unprofessional, made us wait hours and never showed up for our reservation. We made a reservation for 2pm for the same day and I received a confirmation email and text. When we arrived early the place was locked - the assistants had all stepped away. We waited and then called and the lady that picked up was extremely rude and wanted to get us off the line ASAP and said she probably won't have a car for us when she's back. We asked when she would be back and she said maybe close of business. We left without the car we had reserved after a long wait where she didn't show up. Another hertz employee showed up and hurriedly told us he couldn't help us but the lady we had spoken to online would be back in a minute after waiting much longer than that we left and ended up being helped at budget. read more

Do not let your ride leave if you booked online! The system is booking reservations without availability!!! I'd like to start off by saying the staff at this location are wonderful, sympathetic and understanding... I had some car trouble and tried to rent a car through Hertz via AAA, I was given a reservation, a price, and a confirmation number... I was stranded 45 minutes from home, I couldn't Uber or Lyft or cab it in any way, and AAA and Hertz told me they would pick me up and I would be fine... When I called the location to arrange a pick up, AAA told me that was how to do it, the the wonderful And honestly delightful employee (poor girl, it wasn't her fault) working the phones at the local office informed me that there were no cars available... Again not her fault, Apparently, the website for hertz will push your reservation through regardless of availability... And unless you call to double check, you're likely to show up at their location without a ride or the option to receive one... read more

The staff was super friendly and professional. They even gave us a courtesy-call to see if we were going to be late, which was really nice! On hold for 9 minutes and 47 seconds before I was hung up on. I called right back and was tolkd no rental cars. Can't get one from another location and aren't sure when one might be back. Really disappointed. I literally DIDNT GET TO RENT A CAR. Like I'm saying, "Please take my money." And dude's like, "Nah bruh. I'm good..." We booked the car at 10am for a 4pm pick up. They sent a Lyft driver to pick us up at the auto repair shop 15 minutes away. When we arrived there was no car ready - it shouldn't have been a surprise to them that we were turning up. After a long wait they came with a (dirty) car and then we had to wait while the other agent used "the" camera phone (yes they only have the one) so they could take photos of the car. Not sure how they were going to see any scratches underneath the dirt!! I will not rent from Hertz again because of this experience. read more

I believe whoever runs this Hertz location is both incompetent and dishonest. When I arrived, they delivered the wrong car size (not what I reserved). They managed to find the right car size after making me wait almost an hour. When I returned the car, they claimed I had kept it too long (I did not), and charged me for extra time. I have proof I did not keep the car as long as they claim, and yet they still refuse to refund the overcharge. This Hertz location exemplifies poor business practices. Rude, smug, and arrogant are the qualities of the branch manager, Drake Whalen. We had made a reservation online and scheduled pick up afternoon (12 pm). We were leaving town that day and had to leave our dog at a boarder across town so by the time we got to the rental car place it was 3 pm. No where in the fine print did it say they would charge more money for a later pick up. Mr. Whalen is not someone i'd send anyone I know to do business with. He never apologized for making my questioning of the extra charge make me look like some cheap nickel and dimer; i asked him to find the policy online and print it for my review. he finally did this after 20 minutes and then said the extra fee was because the car they had originally reserved for us had been given to another customer and the only car "left" was a larger size. i just wish he would have said that from the beginning instead of referring to some obscure "legalese" (his words not mine) on the contract that took him 20 minutes to dig out from the website. When we finally got the car, my husband noticed it had an old smoker's smell; he's sensitive to that so he would know. Mr. Whalen never disclosed this detail - oops! A week later we returned the car and my husband told Mr. Whalen that we were disappointed in his attitude and not telling us about the car having been driven by a smoker. Mr. Whalen just stared blankly...Maybe he just doesn't get it? read more

It took me 3 weeks and 8 phone calls logging over 60 minutes on the phone (mostly on hold) trying to correct being charged an extra day (the car was returned 5 hours earlier than reserved). Why was I charged an extra day? The car was reserved online for Dulles Aviation just a short distance away. My guess is somewhere in the hand-off they didn't bother to check dates/times. They also didn't use my reservation information at all. They had to fill out the entire rental agreement by hand upon arrival. Oh, but my reserved price of $75 was scribbled in the margins. My first calls were to get a receipt, as it didn't show up online after 2-3 days. That's a little unusual as sometimes I get them in as little as a few hours. The first attempt to email a receipt got bounced back. Despite the clerk knowing this, he didn't bother to call me back. Email attempt 2 didn't go through either. Seeing this superior customer service I decided to ask the total on the receipt. Yup, a day late and $45 extra tagged on. I was able to quickly confirm the return time by calling the drop-off location of Dulles Aviation. I was told it would be taken care of. Several business days passed and I still had the charge of $120 on my credit card. I was then told they can't correct charges at this Hertz location and it was being sent to a regional manager. I was given the number of (301) 662-2626 to follow up with. That's a Frederick, MD number and despite them being friendly they had no idea why I was given their number. On my last phone calls they stopped being able to see my receipt altogether. I was eventually given the number of Hertz national, dedicated hotline for receipts. He was able to get me the incorrect one for $120, but was kind enough to transfer me to someone else to correct the charge. It was all taken care of in about 5 minutes. If I can correct this in 5 minutes, why can't a Hertz employee do it? This didn't just waist my time, it delayed me being able to be get reimbursed for weeks of business travel expenses. Best of all, I work for a very large company that utilizes Hertz as a worldwide preferred vendor. read more

I'm two days into a long term rental after a car accident and so far I'm not all that pleased. The car was delivered dirty and the windows were atrocious. Returned and made mention so the girl went outside to clean the inside windows. They were now worse than when I first told them about it. With any bright sun or headlight glare you pretty much cannot see ahead or frankly out the rear window. Personally I consider this nothing short of unsafe. The people at the Manassas location are kind and courteous but I'm not renting them. I'm renting the vehicle. Is it too much to ask that it be delivered in a clean and safe condition even though it is winter? .... Will write update upon termination of rental. Absolutely horrible. Arranged for a pick up at a collision center days in advance. Was called 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick up and told nobody could make it. I expressed this wasn't acceptable and was essentially told to "deal with it". I took time off work, drove 45 minutes to the collision center, and was left stranded. This is the third, equally ridiculous experience in a row that I've had with Hertz. I am baffled that this company can stay in business given the utter lack of respect and basic customer service. The saga continues. We managed to get a refund for returning the car late! ' We returned on time but the receipt online states 6/6/17...we returned on 5/30! We were charged two weeks instead of one plus a late fee. Hertz main line told us that the car was rented out again 6/4 so we could not possibly have had the car for two weeks. Until the local Manassas office respond to an email sent on 15th asking why they overcharged, our issue remains unresolved and we are out of pocket. Memorial Day sunday , I was stranded with a broken down car (my own) in Warrenton, VA and Hertz came to the rescue. Hertz was the only rental car company open on a Sunday. Liz went out of her way to make sure that we would have a car waiting for us. When it took a taxi company over 90minutes to come pick us up to take us to the Manassas Hertz location, Liz stayed past closing time to make sure we got a car. This was by far the best rental car experience I had. Hertz went above and beyond. read more

I am extremely disappointed in your customer service. I called after my rental car had been returned to check on the status of the return of my security deposit. The customer service representative I talked to was utterly and completely rude. After I explained my frustration over the slowness of my returned security deposits, her feathers got ruffled and her voice began to elevate. I don't think she understood my issue and began saying the same thing over and over again--Hertz doesn't have your money. That wasn't the point at all. I explained this to her. She got angry. She began to yell at me over the phone. I asked her to stop and if she would mind if we conferenced called in my bank. She started screaming at me. And then she hung up on me. Hertz, this reflects poorly on you. I'm disappointed in your customer service. I paid good money, not just for a car but also for good service from your staff. I can't believe that I was yelled and screamed at on the phone. I will never rent from Hertz again. People who heard me on the phone asked who I was talking to and I told them--Hertz. I wish I had good things to say about this location, but cannot. We made our reservation a month in advance to ensure we would have a mid-size car for our 1500-mile trip. The size was not only for comfort, but more importantly for safety on highway. Our 6-year old would be in the back, and many of the roads are two-lanes with very heavy 18-wheeler traffic. The larger size offered a bit more peace of mind. On the day we were to pick up the car we received a call that our reservation wasn't available-- they might be able to offer a compact car. When we asked what happened, reiterating that our reservation had been there for more than a month, we were told they "had to move some things around." Sorry. No offer to try to find a mid-size care at another location...we were pretty much just blown off. The only thing they did offer was that they had a car in the shop and it MIGHT be ready on time. After reading other reviews here about the condition of the cars others received at this location, I am thankful we went with another company. By the way, even as last minute reservation, the other company not only had exactly what we needed, but it cost less. We only rent a car a few times a year, so I imagine Hertz wont miss our business. That's fine--we wont be reserving anything with them again anyway, its a waste of time. read more

We are Gold members. We called to see if someone could pick us up to get the car. We are within the 15 miles radius. The guy we spoke to was cordial and said he would pick us up. The scheduled time comes and no one. We wait 30 minutes then call. They tell us they are sorry, but the guy that took your call did not check to see that there is only one person here today. Come on...really. Now we are in a bind trying to get there to pick up the car. What kind of business is this...certainly not the nationally known car rental place I know. They get zero stars as far as I am concerned. Will consider another rental place next time! read more

If it was possible I would give them less then 1 star. I rented a car in Staunton and returned it to this location the following day, Saturday before they closed. On Monday while checking my bank statements I noticed I had $528 pending from Hertz. The rental was $128 plus a $200 security deposit. This was around 5:30 when I discovered the pending charges. I called the location in Staunton and they said Manassas still has not checked the car in and I am still being billed because it had not been returned according to there system. I then call Manassas and spoke to them. I explained to him what was going on and he replied "oh the car that was wrecked" I told him no it was not wreck. He then said I am helping a customer and I'll call you right back. He never returned my call the store closed and when I called back I got a answering machine. I then call the 800 number for Hertz and they were able to be help. They explained that Manassas Hertz never checked the car in and it have even been rented since I returned it. Had a completely terrible experience with this location. But more specifically with the branch manager, Drake Whalen. When I got my rental from there after my accident, I was told that if I wanted to opt in to an optional service, that I needed to come back into the office if I chose to. Since this was an insurance claim, I was not expected to pay anything except the security deposit. 3 weeks later, since my car still wasn't fixed, I still had the rental and I see that my card is trying to be charged for nearly $500 for this optional service. I called the location, as instructed by the customer service number online, and explained the situation to the branch manager. He proceeds to tell me that that was not what he said and there was nothing that he could do. I did eventually get that charge reversed but a month later, after my car was fixed and the rental was returned my account was charged again for almost $600 dollars! This time instead of calling them, I went and talked to him face to face and said the exact same thing. Only this time, he refused do anything more because I didn't have my original receipt with me. This person alone is the sole reason why I will never rent from this location again. If you choose to, be wary and if possible, don't leave a card attached to the rental read more
