    Had to wait 35 minutes for them to drive me to my vehicle, which was a repair facility a mile away. Horrible customer service there.

This appears to be a privately operated "agency" location run by a shady character ("Jay???") in a well-worn, seedy looking strip mall off the main highway. I had a week-long business rental reserved with this Budget location scheduled for pickup at 8AM. Upon arrival at 8AM, the lights were off and the doors locked. Once he did finally decide to open the doors, the agent, who also calls himself "the owner," did not like my reserved rate and refused to honor it. I work for a large transportation company that does a huge amount of business with Avis/Budget. He adjusted my reservation to nearly SEVEN TIMES the booked rate and then wanted to run my credit card without even discussing it, other than to say it costs him more to have the car on his lot, whatever that means. I refused and called customer relations. As this is a private, non-Avis/Budget Group location, there was nothing that customer relations could do other than apologize. There appeared to be nearly no rental cars parked in the lot that I was able to identify. From reading other reviews (and you should too), it seems that this is pretty standard practice for this location...denial of rentals, adjustment of rates, not having cars available, etc. The office is run down and dirty. All the 4-5 star reviews appear to be years old. Most recent reviews are 1-star and it is obvious why. If you need a rental car in the northwest suburbs, you would be well advised to choose a different location, or perhaps a different company all together. Avis/Budget lost a customer this morning and I am going to have a lengthy conversation with our corporate travel department about removing Avis/Budget as a rental car vendor for our entire company of 130,000+ employees.

Very friendly staff, the car (2024 Nissan Rogue) was new, clean, and didn't have a weird odor. Most smell like smoke or heavily perfumed but we didn't have that issue. We didn't fill the car up all the way and they didn't even charge us for it, and added a discount too. Great experience! Will be using them over the one in O'Hare any day!

He only wanted to help the other customer that was talking to his coworker. Also renting a car at the same time that I was when we did our 360 we had finished. I had asked if we were gonna get the car washed he seemed to be very bothered by this and in all honesty it's not the end of the world like that I can excuse, but it's just that I feel when I go to the Algonquin location and they give me a rental car and it's even a little bit messy on the outside they will go and wash it without me even asking and they'll do it with a smile. The inside of the car is completely not clean. I had asked about how I was supposed to return the car and I guess they want me to help make their life easier and drop it off to them so they can go drop me off to go pick up my car from the collision center, but since you were so inconvenienced by cleaning the outside of the car and the inside of the car, I have no interest in making your life a little bit easier

    I have rented many vehicles in the past, never from Hertz and never again. The mess started the…read morenight before we were supposed to pickup the vehicle. My wife called in to verify the pickup location, they explained that the vehicle has been moved, the new location is 25 minutes from my house instead of 5. No big deal, it happens. I arrive the next morning to an empty office. No agent, just a note on the door stating the person would be back. After waiting patiently for about 20 minutes i called the number on the door. My call was answered by the St. Charles office, the gentleman who answered simply stated that the agent should be back any minute. I waited another 10 minutes and called back,this time the only thing i was told was that he does not know where the agent is and he should be there. By this point i am almost an hour late departing from my planned trip. It was only after calling another Hertz office that i was informed that the vehicle is at the Penske Rental it was initially supposed to be at, the one 5 minutes from my house. So i make the drive to Penske and meet the most passive aggressive unfriendly person i have ever encountered. My hint should have been the neatly printed warning not to write on the front counter that read something to the effect of "if you or your children want to write on the counter like Kindergartners we will be happy to charge you a $100 clean up fee." The gentleman that worked there was just awful, he must have been born without people skills or something. He never explained any of the charges (i will get to that in a bit), and said everything in a sort of sarcastic tone as if our presence was bothering him. We picked up the van, which was an almost new Kia, in great shape, and very clean. When we dropped the van back off 3 days later we once again met Mr Personality. We had to wait again about 15 minutes because he was just too busy doing something else to take 30 seconds to walk over and get the key. This in itself was an awful experience, the train wreck of picking up the vehicle delayed my trip by over 2 hours. But it wasn't over yet. My wife went to an ATM to withdraw cash and noticed something not right. She checked the transaction log and noticed we had an additional 300 something dollar hold on our account. We had been charged for the total amount of the rental up front, and now we have this mystery charge. We called Hertz and they explained that Mr Personality at Penske charged us incorrectly, but also the hold was pretty standard practice and should drop off in a few days. NONE of this was explained to us up front. I rent vehicles at least once a year, but often 2 or three times a year. Not only will i be sure to never rent from Hertz again,i am going to steer others away from potentially having the same frustrating experience i have had.
