Now that I'm seeing other reviews, looks like this location has a trend of not having people's rentals. I got an email this morning, two hours before I needed to pick up a minivan that they didn't have any and didn't anticipate getting any back. Suggested calling the one at the airport!!! Instead I went to the Crystal Lake location and the men there were great to deal with! They were very apologetic that this happened, and were able to get us a minivan right away. (PS Algonquin told me none of the surrounding stores had any!) Shortly after we got our minivan in Crystal Lake, we went to get food from a place in the same center as Enterprise and wouldn't ya know there were two minivans sitting there!!! I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO NOT USE THIS LOCATION! read more

I had a good experience with this Enterprise branch. I reserved a car using the Enterprise App. When I got there at the scheduled pick up time, I got the car without any issues. Dropping the car off after work hours was simple. The only issue I had was I think everyone else was dropping their car off as well, so all the spots were full. Other than that, it was a very smooth transaction. read more

If I could give a 0, I would. Made a reservation to rent an SUV on 3/26 for a trip in April. I get a call today, one hour before I am supposed to pick up the rental SUV, th they don't have one to offer. What? Then Eric states that he has two small sedans that will be delivered today at 5:30, but these are already promised to other customers. Again, what? He also stated that he would see if they could get something by tomorrow. We leave at 4am tomorrow, so that won't work. So, they had 22 days to ensure an SUV was delivered to the Algonquin IL Enterprise location for our reservation and were unable to organize this properly. I then said to just cancel my reservation. Eric says that since I used points for a portion of this reservation I will now have to call and get these reinstated. Really? Such bad customer service. You should have negative numbers to rate this place. read more

Had a reservation for a car I needed for a business trip and this location decided to wait until 45 minutes BEFORE my pick up time to tell me in no uncertain terms they would not have a car for me and that my reservation doesn't guarantee a car. I beg your f user pardon but that's what a reservation is it RESERVES something, meaning it's reserved format clients use. Sam who I spoke to told me " well there's no cars, there will be no car for you here, I'm still waiting for cars" when I asked how they would rectify it. Doesn't matter how long you've been a customer these people flat out do not a give a shit about anything. I will NEVER use this company again and will be sharing my experience with my travel planning team as well. The most unprofessional experience I have ever had. Well all we can say is that Wow for customer service. Came in a few days ago last minute and Melissa C. Made our experience awesome. She made sure needs were met, vehicle was exactly what we wanted, smile to start and smile to end. Customer service is not about "freebies" only. I have used this place a couple times over the last year. Each time, the staff has been super helpful and kind. They went the extra mile to make sure I had a good rental experience. I rented a vehicle from the Algonquin Enterprise location. I was charged for over $26 in tolls that were incurred on I90 and I88. My rental vehicle was NEVER driven on these tollways. Enterprise either has the wrong transponder registered to the vehicle I rented or attached the tolls the wrong account. Enterprise customer service has been very unhelpful in resolving this issue. The vehicle was rented through State Farm. I will make sure State Farm is aware of the poor service from Enterprise. read more

I am in the process now of trying to remove a toll charge from enterprise for a toll I paid for online. Even spoke to Lisa from the escalation team at corporate, who was very unhelpful. They gave me a car with UNPAID TOLLS and it has been an absolute headache to deal with. The representitive that rented out the car to me told me that I could easily register the car's license plate to my personal iPass account or I could pay a fee for theirs so obviously I choose to just use my own. First mistake was she failed to mention that when registering a rental car there is an option to register it as a "rental car" with a start date and end date. Should I have known this? Probably. Would it have been helpful for them to make that clear? Absolutely. But why are they renting out cars with outstanding balances on tolls in the first place??? So unlucky for me my account got charged with numerous tolls of before I even had the rental. And on top of that they sent me a citation once I was done of one unpaid toll even though I had the transponder in the rental car and the rental cars license plate registered at that exact time. How? Make it make sense. If I want my money back I need to go through the long process of sending an affidavit to the Illinois tollway. I will certainly not be using enterprise again. Hopefully this review can help people in the future when dealing with tolls and rental cars. read more

Update: my review below is pretty negative, but in fairness, Enterprise did reach out to me via email after I submitted my customer satisfaction survey; and when I dropped off the car, they had discounted $75, which was approximately 1/3 of the total price. This was a good gesture, although I would rather some human interaction (like a phone call), and that they had ASKED me what would be a satisfactory resolution -- pro-tip for businesses: ASK, don't tell. I would have let them off the hook for less than $75, and felt better about doing business with Enterprise in the future, if a responsible human had listened to my complaint, acknowledged Enterprise's fault, assured me that they value my future business, and asked me what would make me feel better about Enterprise (I actually had the figure of $50 in mind, merely as a token of their goodwill), rather than Enterprise impersonally throwing money at my customer dissatisfaction. After all, I wasn't dissatisfied with the price of the vehicle, but with the indifference to my needs that was reflected in what Enterprise staff had done, and of what they said, when I arrived to pick up my reservation. So, temper the review below with the knowledge that they did knock off $75 from my final charges. They gave away my reserved vehicle less than 90-minutes after scheduled pickup, because I hadn't confirmed, and (they claimed) that they had no phone number to contact me. Enterprise then offered me a smaller substitute, which is useless to me. I am currently sitting at Enterprise, waiting for a vehicle to be returned, and when I paid, the rep asked me if _____ is my phone number? Yes it is, but you told me that you didn't have my phone number, and now it turns out that you do have it, but you were bullshitting me when I asked why you gave away my reserved car. I'm not sure whether lying to customers is Enterprise corporate policy, or if the rep was innovating; either way, I will avoid Enterprise in the future, and you would be prudent to do likewise. read more

Enterprise Rent-A-Car, as it turns out, seems to be the only big player in car rental business with local outlets. Who knew? Everyone else seems to be centered around airport locations. Rental worked out great. The two guys in the location when we were there were great - very nice. Vehicle could have been cleaner - my daughter was grossed out by the old french fries she kept finding in the very back seat. Problems started when we blew thru the first IPASS. Oops! We are so used to having an IPASS that we didn't even clue into needing to stop and pay the tolls manually. (So watch out!) I called the location and was told "no problem - when you get back, call IPASS and tell them you want to charge the tolls to your IPASS for the rental period. And - next time, you can add the license plate to your IPASS, but remember to *remove* it again, or you will pay for everyone else's tolls". Cool. Works for me. So called IPASS and was told "no, you can't do that - you have to wait for Enterprise to sort thru the invoice, and send back to IPASS what person had what fees". OK.... Now, I get a letter from Enterprise saying they've done that, and they are charging me $15 for the service. I call the Fees department and ask to have that credited, since obviously I was given bad advise by an Enterprise associate. After much debate and pointless conversation, I finally got the fee credited back. But I have to say, customer service was lacking. So - great caution on the tollway stuff - get very clear instruction from IPASS and the location, and plan time to attach license to your IPASS and then remove again. Pain in the patouhee. Also - worth it to play with dates on the web - we were able to rent an SUV for 3 days (Friday to Monday) for less than for 2 days (Friday to Sunday)...so be flexible on your dates when you can. Would I recommend: Yes.... after giving my long grevious story about IPASS and fees! Will I return: Since they (begrudgingly and with much ado about it being a one time thing and a sermon about how Enterprise is not responsible for IPASS fees) refunded the charge, yes, we will rent from them again. (But did they really need to make it that hard? Clearly need to take some customer service type training in the fees department.) read more

Wow. I'm shocked at the average rating of this location. I have been going to this Enterprise for several years now, and have had nothing but positive experiences. Even as the management has changed, the level of attention, the accommodations, and the prices have always been the best in the area. A few years ago, my wife was pregnant and we rented a Hyundai Tuscon for a road trip. Leaving the lot, she felt the ride was too bumpy and got motion sickness. When we returned, the manager, Tai, was so understanding and gave us a huge SUV, a Yukon, at the same weekly rate! This last experience, I had a rental for several weeks after my car was totaled. Less then 5 minutes after I got off the phone with my insurance company, Enterprise called me and said they had my reservation. When I showed up, I had 4 cars to choose from, all cleaned and ready to go. Please give this location a chance, as they deserve your business. I will definitely be visiting again. read more

Easy to find on Randall road. There are two gentlemen that I typically deal with and both seem to be genuinely engaged and provide above average customer service. Unfortunately the cars are not kept up to average or better standards. Cleanliness as well as mechanical issues seem to be a constant problem - nothing major but not as good as my experience in other locations. I do not like the fact that the level of fuel is random and they don't start you out with a full tank. Hope you make changes, right now it is the location that drives my return:) read more

I have been an enterprise member for years and years traveling for business for the past 20 years. I went to this local office but they wouldn't let me rent with and "out of state" license and a credit/debit card. Every airport you go to rent your license is out of state. What difference does it make here at this office? I'm stranded!! The new employee knew nothing and said she knew nothing. I'm done renting from incompetent Enterprise. Membership means nothing to them. A history of renting from them means nothing. Only this office cared that my license is out of state. Never has this happened before across the US. I will never ever do business with this unpredictable incompetent office!!!! Don't risk being stranded. They can change the rules on you at any time. read more

Very Dissapponted - AGAIN! We reserved a vehicle 3 weeks in advance because WE KNEW IT WAS A SCHOOL HOLIDAY WEEKEND. We needed a large car for a week long trip to see relatives out of state. Family of 4 (with 2 small children) - you know how much stuff you need for a week long trip - sleeping bags, gifts, luggage - toys and other things we needed a large car with a large trunk space. We got to Enterprise Algonquin, Looked around the parking lot and didn't see any large cars or even an SUV that would be suitable. We went in thinking maybe they had around back or something, NOPE! They wanted to give us a small VW Jetta! or their other option was a Turbo Charged Dodge Charger?? What are they thinking - we reserved a LARGE CAR for a family vacation. Needless to say we were disappointed in the selection and asked if they could find anything else from another Enterprise location. A BLUNT NO! I would have driven to Schaumburg, Elgin, Crystal Lake, an number of other locations to get the vehicle. The manager was just short of being rude to us. Wow, we were set to leave in 2 hours. Now we didn't even have a car to drive! Well I previously had a similar experience years ago when I used them and was disappointed then too. Never will I rent from Enterprise again. Good service. Best rates when you reserve through Costco car rental. Sometimes you get old cars with free upgrades. They don't pick up phone quickly sometimes. They do pick up and drop off. Overall very satisfied! Easy key drop after hours. Should consider being open on Sundays at least for half a day. read more

Wow! Words cannot describe how bad the service is at this location! I walked in with my son, no agent was at the service desk. I asked other people waiting if I should take a number, no one knew what was going on. After 10 minutes of just waiting to see an agent I told my son to leave me there so he could go to work. Eventually Agent Paul shows up, walks out the door and is vacuuming a car. Service is moving at a crawl. I asked Agent Paul if I can get a drink of water, he tells me they have a water cooler, Terrific! I asked where it is and he doesn't tell me, well it is apparently out of cups. I looked at him funny and said that he wasn't much for customer service, and he replied that customer service is not his area. The rest of my story really gets worse. I called The main office and they never retuned my call. I seriously hope they improve their act over there, what I witnessed today (no bathroom light, broken blinds, garbage on the window ledge) Just Wow, worst service I have ever encountered in my life. read more

*** Be Aware *** I had rented a car from this establishment for 30 days. We found out that in the 30 days of our car use the IPASS had missed two tolls. We were sent a penalty bill of $15 for the 2 missed tolls (original cost of the toll was $1.45) I reached out to IDOT to let them know what the issue was. They were very helpful and offered to reimburse Enterprise the missed tolls, all they needed to do that was a case number so that they can complete the transaction. I reached out to Enterprise to let them know, several times they refused to give me a case number, but instead they offered to lower the penalty to $8. I used this location many times before, but from now on I will totally stop!! 1. Every time I rented the car it was " 3 quarter full"....hmmmmm....really? You really count on the fact, that putting back 3 quarter of the gasoline is NOT easy, so everyone just fill it up fully.....let me count: if they do this to 500 people, they already made a significant amount of money by using this TRICK. 2. This time their female rep told me it's half way with the gasoline....and guess what she put in the contract? FULL. So, if the customer thinking I just need to fill it half way, BUT according to the contract its full, you again ripped off....by another trick what Enterprise teach their employees. Stay away from them, go to another location. read more

This location is not customer friendly. One of their signs in their building said "we treat customers how they should be treated", and that is exactly what they did. At first, they were nice - but then it turned out that they just wanted business over keeping customers happy. When we first went to this specific location, Christina (one of the sales associates) seemed very friendly. However the next time we called, she was not knowledgeable about Saturday one-day rentals. She also said the manager would not have time to take care of us, and that we basically were on our own. One of the fairly new managers, Jeff, was very helpful in setting up a booking. He was able to rent out a cargo van for one-day on a Saturday, meaning that we would do a night-time drop off. He even said that they would trust the customer to be honest when dropping off the van (since no one would be there to check it in on Sunday). Since we were not sure of the exact date when we would be moving in, we had to cancel our reservation at that point in time. When we came back a week later, he did not remember us and said they could not do the same one-day Saturday rental that he booked for us before. He said they can't trust customers to turn back the vans in without damages and that we would have to take a two-day rental. He was not very accommodating to our individual needs, and even told us he never said anything about customer honesty. Therefore since this location would not provide a one day rental on a Saturday, we decided to go to another location. We would highly recommend the Enterprise locations in Elgin on Randall Road and/or in East Dundee on Route 25. Both locations provided one-day Saturday rentals without a fuss, trust the customers completely, and were very respectful to our own needs. read more

I hadn't rented from this location in awhile, but will start doing so for work. It is a completely different staff. I have found each person I worked with to be responsive and efficient. Through no fault of their own, Enterprise often doesn't often have the small, fuel efficient cars I requested. While most people love getting an upgrade, I'm not one of them. The problem I had with this agency was getting a copy of the charges to submit to the insurance company for reimbursement. I called 4 times speaking to several different employees and each time was told they would email me. The 5th call the girls said it was sent but read the email it was sent to and it was incorrect. I corrected it for her and she assured me it would be resent and in my inbox in minutes. It is now the next day and I STILL have not received my receipt. Reserved in advance and in person. Needed vacation road car and promised a proper vehicle and quick service. Upon pick up they forgot to check promised cars and all that was left was a Jetta, hardly a highway car. Took because no other option. Rep asked me if I wanted gas? Said was on empty. How did he think I was going to drive it on E? More delays while he took it for fuel. Drove car 1 block and tire pressure light went on? Drove back and rep and Mgr checked air pressure which looked ok but no other vehicle to switch to. Light went out without explanation and they still let me take the car. Omen of things to come. Two hundred miles down the road the tire pressure light went on again. This time front tires were low. Aired up and continued. Another 250 miles and another light. This time one front low by 5-7 PSI. Tire shop mechanic advised known prob with Jetta and certain rims having rim leaks at highway speeds. He suggested swapping car ASAP. Jetta also developed sticking throttle when pulling out into traffic. Reached out to another Enterprise location for swap, advised no cars available and to call back in 2 hrs. Never asked what was wrong or if I was stranded or? second area location stopped at and they seemed very bothered that I had problems. Took forever to check if car avail and then had to wait for porters to clean. Never offered any apology and never listened to issues with Jetta. Porters were horsing around and more delays sustained. Rep never came back to turn over car. No offer to help transfer luggage. Porter gave me keys on a 10 ft toss. New vehicle had immediate brake squeal in reverse. No reaction by porters or reps standing in front. Passenger doors took 3 slams to close and get interior lites to turn off. Later found that branch did not refill wiper fluid when splashed by truck during a rainstorm. Had to buy my own fluid at gas station. Returned vehicle and still waiting days later for orgin branch mgr and area manager to respond to issues. Horrible initial service. Jetta should have never been released with malfunctioning warning lite. Swap location made it worse with attitude and further delays. One bad car swapped for another. I doubt I would ever use or recommend Enterprise or their sister companies again. read more

I have given this location a number of chances and unfortunately they have under delivered each time. First car I received the gas tank was almost empty, Second car I received looked like it hadn't even been cleaned. There were crumbs everywhere and just plain dirty. The third car I rented luckily I was still in town as the check engine light came on and I had to get a different car. I can understand that things happen but what makes me extremely dissatisfied is the level of customer service that I received, the employees that I spoke to told me this was their business model and made excuses. Never once did they try to understand from the customer point of view. The icing on the cake is when I returned the keys in the drop box I was charged for an additional two days. read more

The branch manager as well as the district manager above him made the stress from my car accident which led me to rent a car from them even worse due to their rudeness and are unacceptable outrageous behavior toward me. I could write five pages regarding what happened to me but I will try to be brief just to give you a summary. After my car accident I was advised by that they would work directly with farmers Insurance because they are insured was the guilty party in the accident. Rather they tried to charge me above what the insurance would pay with no notice even though I asked them to get me a car that vas covered. When they forced me to switch cars they gave me a car that someone had vomited in and still reeked of puke. When I complained to the manager and got no response, I called the corporate office expecting an apology for the awful experience but rather I got mocked and banned from renting from Enterprise because they retaliated for me threatening to call the health department about the disgusting unsanitary condition of the barf filled car. No worries Enterprise. ...I would never dream of renting from you again and your sick actions don't bother me. read more

Yeah, I started with the Huntley location, which I was honestly impressed with how efficient the gentleman was that was working, considering he was the only one working with a line out the door and was still getting through the line quickly. Anyhow, went to the Algonquin location because Huntley didn't have any cars available and had an even better experience at the Algonquin location. They provided excellent customer service and were patient when I told them that my mom would be there in a few minutes with my driver's license even though they were about to close, and they gave me a vehicle that I was VERY happy with. I rented a van and I dropped it off at the shop who was doing work in my personal vehicle. Three weeks after it was picked up I got a letter asking for my insurance. Long story short they claimed there was a scratch that needed to be fixed and by the time I got the letter supposedly it was already fixed. When I initially picked up the van it was just washed and looked great until I got home. When it was dry many scratches where visible so I of course called the branch I rented from and they documented my call. I am mainly upset because I did not get one call after the van was picked up saying there was damage and then when I stopped by the branch that picked it up they were not helpful. I had to contact the shop that fixed it just to find out what they did. It should also be noted that a few other scratches on the drivers side that looked that same as the one they fixed were not addressed. I now get many many calls from Enterprise looking to get a check for the damages. Nobody called to tell me there was damage or that it was getting fixed but now I get called regularly. I will split the cost to get them off of my back but at the end of the day I have learned a lesson. read more

I had no problems at all getting my rental, it was all ready to go when I had gotten there. I had the rental for 16 days, my insurance company was covering the cost. Well after my car had been returned just about 300 dollars was taken out of my account with no heads up. I had called when I first saw this and the girl I talked to on the phone was so rude to me, and told me that it would go back in to my account. So I waited 4-5 days and got back some of my money but had a couple questions and the same rude girl had answered the phone and was so cold again. We got the situation figured out, she didn't thank me for my business or ask if I had further questions and just said "bye" and hung the phone up. Needless to say I will not be returning to this location again. I was very upset with the customer service here. read more

I went to this location and worked with Mike K. for renting vans for our church mission trip. We had trouble in the past with not having the right vans we needed on the day we were to leave, as well as only one person to sign everyone up and fill out paperwork. This experience was completely different. Mike personally came in on his day off to ensure all the right vehicles were there and ready to go. In addition, there were several Enterprise employees on hand to make sure the process went quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend this company, this office and Mike K. We will be coming back next year for our church trip, and I will be using Mike for personal rentals. read more
