I'm surprised at the low rating, because this place was a godsend for me! I needed a large SUV to drive the family down to South Carolina for a week. I booked only two days before I picked it up because my SUV's compressor went out last minute. They were extremely friendly, professional, and went out of their way to clean up a recently turned in vehicle so I'd have something bigger to fit the family in. The process was quick, efficient, and stress free. Turning in was the same. Can't thank them enough! And kudos to their level of patience because as I waited for my vehicle to be cleaned I witnessed three different groups of people being rude, combative, and generally shitty to the men working behind the counter. But both gentlemen handled it with more patience and professionalism than I could. You've got a great staff here. read more

Reserved a rental from this location 2 weeks in advance, checked in online, and submitted my payment info only to get there and they tell me they don't have any rentals available. WTF is the purpose of reserving a rental then? It's not my fault you're short of rentals, and if that was the case why did no one reach out to me to give me a heads up before I paid for an uber there, then had to pay to catch another uber back home. Every time I use this enterprise location the products are far below the expected standard of an industry leader in the car rental business. This time my large SUV was not available at appointment time. Instead the location fulfilled my reservation with a full size pickup. However, the vehicle was a base model with high mileage that was suited to be a work truck. Unacceptable for daily driving. I was assured that I can come back later to swap vehicle for something higher in quality. Issue with that is that it wastes my time going back and forth. Again the only positive about the JESSUP enterprise is that the employees are friendly and professional. read more

We made a reservation for a family vacation - we booked a SUV on booking.com. We arrived 45 minutes past our 8:30am pick up time and were informed that our car had been given away. They claimed that they were unable to call us because the 3rd party site did not provide a phone number, so they gave the car away and we could join the "waitlist" along with 40 other people. The gentlemen who first talked to us said that there was nothing they could do - so we immediately asked for the manager. A woman came from the back of the office and repeatedly said that since we were late, there was nothing they could do. I looked up the policy on the enterprise website and it clearly says that they hold the car UP TO 3 hours. They didn't even hold the car up to 45 minutes. We were in the office for an hour and the whole time, they called people who had rentals from insurance companies. They didn't call ANYONE who had a normal rental car, and I'm convinced that they prioritize rentals paid by insurance companies over normal customers. We never talked to the general manager (he was apparently at the Commissioners office and unavailable to talk to customers). Before we left, the Branch Manager (Toya) FINALLY offered us something other than a downgraded car - they offered 2 days off the reservation cost. She only offered this after we were in the office for an hour. And - even though we kept asking for a manager, she never announced herself as the Branch Manager and she never apologized for the inconvenience that we experienced. Overall - very poor customer service, awful problem solving skills, and an unacceptable case of ignoring Enterprise policy. We are Enterprise loyalty members and have been using Enterprise for over 20 years - and we have NEVER had this issue. We will never use this location ever again and will be reporting this situation to the Corporate Office. read more

A couple of weeks ago my insurance company contracted Enterprise Rent A Car in New Carrolton. When they called me they told me that they had a Mazda CX 50 ready and a Toyota Camry that would be ready in an hour. I told them that I can take the Mazda as long as the insurance company was covering it. I was assured that was the case. When I got the call I noticed that the Low Oil Pressure light was on and took me 3 hours to get a hold of me and assured me that the car was recently in the shop and the computer wasn't reset and that it was safe to drive. When I returned the car I was told that there was a charge of $36.12 and they fraudlenty charged my card for because they went over the rate that the Insurance company without permission and I have been fighting with them to get the fraudulent charge removed. read more

Came into to drop off and Kanika Burton said different. Called back to the loss department and Reed said she was not doing procedure and to talk to the regional manager. I originally rented a car from here through my insurance. The car that I was issue was soaking wet when I got it and smelled like cigarette smoke. I had to return the car to a different location and when I did they said I dented the car door. These are the photos taken of the car when I returned it. That dent is so hard to see. I tried several angles to try to capture it. And as I stated the car was wet when I got it.I definitely would not have seen that unless I rub the entire car.I would never ever in my life use this company again and I don't recommend anyone else to either.After this incident I did some research and I see that this company is infamous for running scams on the customers such as this one read more

I'm surprised the ratings for this Enterprise aren't high when the customer service has been nothing but spectacular. One of the Enterprise guys picked me up from a nearby autobody shop, and I felt like he was trying to hit on me while playing really loud music. It felt really awkward. Despite such awkwardness, when I got dropped off at the Enterprise store, I stepped in and felt immediately at ease. Albert helped me get the right SUV, and his coworker made sure that it was clean before I got the keys. Before I drove off, Albert also made sure that I understood the policies and how to use the car. The rental was in such great shape compared to other Enterprise locations. What made Albert go above and beyond was when I forgot something in the trunk. It was completely my fault - I left it in the trunk when I dropped off the rental car with the autobody shop. I called Albert, and he said he would do everything in his ability to make sure that I got it back. And indeed, I got my belonging back and it was completely secure. This location of Enterprise has been good for years, but especially nice lately under the management of Kamika, who went above and beyond to take care of me in my recent rental. She even called to check on me partway through the rental period and switched me into a better vehicle for me than the one they had available at the start of the rental period. Customer service at this location needs some major help!! I made a reservation two weeks ago. Had a confirmation call last night, then this morning, on my way to pick up my car, I receive a call to say they don't have my vehicle nor any vehicle in that class category (nor an upgrade) Ok, while that is frustrating I was given no option for a solution (except to wait till this afternoon, who has time for that?!?). When I asked if they could help determine if other locations had what I requested they told me they didn't know. No effort to coordinate a solution or help. Told me to go to the air port, told me to call other locations myself, meanwhile I'm now running late for my trip due to their lack of planning!!! My reservation and confirmation were all that was needed to make the preparation. Why were you all not ready?!?! Thankfully, the enterprise in north Laurel had amazing customer service... If I could give them 10 stars I would. The customer service is incredible, everyone was very helpful and understanding. I had been working with state farms insurance after I was rear ended by their customer. It was recommended to me to go to this rental car location. I called the Jessup location and was told they had already had my information and would be ready to give me a car as soon as I needed it. They worked seamlessly with the repair shop and I was picked up immediately driven to their store given the vehicle that I felt the safest in and worked with State Farm to have it covered completely. I did not even have to drop the car off at enterprise they let me drop it off at the repair shop and they went to get it later no inconvenience for me at all. I worked with Matt he gets 20 stars he understood he had compassion for the concerns that I had and made everything very easy. These guys were really friendly, up front, and when I ended up returning my car a few days early - they pro-rated my rental saving me a few bucks. Every other rental I've done, I end up paying more in the end - so this was a unique experience and may have me switched to Enterprise for life. Despite great guys, a few warnings: Check out the car before you rent it. The Nissan I got - cheapest on the lot - was really basic. I could have gotten the hyundai, which had many upgrades to it at the same price and mpg. The guy was actually pulling out the keys for the hyundai when I said the Nissan sounded nice, and he gave me a weird look before swapping them out. Oops. Don't rent on a Monday - they get slammed. Give lots of headsup when you need a pick up. They get pretty busy at times, and can take a few calls to get through (the reason they are four stars). This can be nerve-wrecking if you really need them to get you - but just keep calling, they'll pick up. Otherwise- read the contract carefully, check your insurance and credit cards to see what they cover (the additional coverage can be nice peace of mind, but is often unnecessary depending on your insurance/cc combo), bring the car back on time - and you should be golden. They did say something about cheaper gas than you pay at the pump if you let them fill it up - but I wasn't sure if I understood correctly so I filled i up rather than finding out. - so ask about this, and make sure you see the policy in writing - and this could be another cost savings. read more

Experiences are relative to a person, so take that in mind when interacting with this particular Enterprise. Do a thorough walk through of the vehicle before signing anything! Our experience led to a claim issue because of damage on a vehicle that was not caused during our rental time. We rent cars from Enterprise frequently (first from this particular location) and always had a positive experience. So, whenever using a new location don't assume the agents are for the customer. Be assertive and detailed if you plan on using this location. read more

They even have moving trucks which I have used twice. Paul the manager is great, he's very professional. Stay Far Away from this Enterprise Rent-A-Car Location. Horrible customer service experience dealing with an insurance claim The manager Mark at the location talk down to me like he was doing me a favor. Refused to apologize for the error he made. I went above his head speaking to the area manager who basically defended the location. Overall I am very disappointed and and deterred from coming back to Enterprise because at the end of the day to me its the Principal that matters. The actions of the assistant manager was unprofessional and now the area manager defending his actions makes me now question the way enterprise does business. I have renter cars from enterprise for years with no issues at all but in this case I believe this particular enterprise location in Jessup Maryland which is a high crime questionable era feels that they can pretty much take advantage and have their way with customers in regards to poor customer service based on social class. I don't live in that area and only chose that location due to the proximity of the car repair shop my insurance vehicle was located at. But regardless of the location they are still representing the Enterprise Brand. read more

I would definitely recommend them to other to rent from and I will choose them in the future should there be a need. I rented from this location and got an AWFUL car. The clerk was really nice but when he handed me the keys the car I got was super dirty and had NO gas in it. When I started my trip I noticed that it pulled really bad to the left so I called Enterprise to switch the car out and they told me to go to the nearest airport to do a swap. While I was swapping out the current vehicle for a different one (due to safety concerns) they informed me that the car was supposed to be pulled from the rental line and sold 12 days before they rented it to me. I always would rent a car from Enterprise when I lived in Virginia. The staff there was always friendly, great customer service, and always had my vehicle ready upon pick up. When I moved to Maryland, I thought the closest office was the airport but I found one in Jessup. The staff here is just as nice as the office in Virginia and the customer service matched as well. I will continue to use this branch and Enterprise Car Rental. read more

Regularly rent from Enterprise and sometimes have to return during off hours. In the case of picking up on Fri it's a bit tricky bc on Sat some locations have short working hours. Never had an issue with letting a personal know and they always were able to make a note and not charge me all the way until Monday. Today is Friday, needed car till Sat and asked them if I could drop it off after hours on Sat but, unfortunately, Jim(branch manager) said that it wasn't possible and it needs to be returned during branch working hours. It all makes sense but just nice when managers can IMPROVE in uperfectness of the system when client asks them. especially when client knows that it CAN be done...when manager is on duty just nice when they try to help you not the other way around. If enterprise would like to hear more, I have a few great suggestions regarding improvements and not the obvious ones but the ones that would separate E from competitors. read more

I came in on a Friday, two hours early to extend til the next day. The guy that checked me out said "ok you're set." Nothing else. Saturday i dropped the car off at the same time and dropped the keys in the drop box. I called Tuesday and the manager got the nerve to tell me he's charging me for Sunday and Monday because i returned the car after hours. I don't even have to explain the rest but i will never rent a car from this place ever again. Don't ever play with someone's money. RENTER BEWARE: I reserved a compact car (Versa, Rio, etc.) and set my reservation pick up for 12:30 PM. I get a call from the location at 10:41 AM to confirm my reservation and I informed the woman that I spoke with that I will be there on time for my rental. I took a cab from my job to the location to pick up my vehicle only to be told that there is no vehicle in stock for me except for a Yukon (way too big and not what I reserved). I asked the woman if she knew there were no compact cars in stock when she called and she said, "Yes, but that's why we call to see if you are still coming." Which did not answer my question. I was told this would be a "free upgrade" - a cheap way, in my opinion, of saying that your online reservation means absolutely nothing and it does not reflect what the location actually has (something that was confirmed by the woman who called me). If you order food at a restaurant and they don't have what you want, they don't just make a random meal for you and hope that you'll accept it. I rent moving trucks as part of my job and if a customer calls to make a reservation and the truck isn't available, guess what I do? I apologize and tell them it's not available - I don't have them come all the way to my store and then tell them. I've made a reservation here 3 times, including this incident and this is the 2nd time they didn't have the car that I reserved - on my very first rental this same thing happened! I wasn't able to leave 0 stars, so 1 will have to do. read more

Worse Customer Service Experience Ever!!! Mark, the manager was completely disrespectful and unprofessional, I was completely disgusted with the level of customer service I was provided with, especially by someone in a leadership role. I was scheduled for pick up at 11:30am on 3/2/17 (created by another location on 3/1/17 because no one would answer the phone) at my place of work, given the contact information for the Jessup location in addition to the confirmation information. Called the morning of my scheduled pick up which was 3.2.17 and was advised by Garrett the reservation was in for 5pm. I confirmed that would be Ok and he confirmed I would receive a phone call prior to being picked up. 5pm comes, no call, no update, no anything from the branch.. I called at 5:05 pm and was advised that the individual that was to pick me up had not arrived due to a car accident, I proceeded to ask the representative at what time were they going to contact me to advise of the delay. He gave some excuse and said "Melvin just pulled up" and would be arriving at my job in 15 to 20 minutes. 5:40pm comes no call and no show. I contacted the branch and Mark the manager answered the phone. I explained to him the situation and he advised the driver called and is stuck in traffic and would be 20 minutes late. I asked Mark, at what point were they going to contact me to give an update, he stated things happen and they can not control accidents, which I continuously repeated that is not my issue, the fact that none of this information was communicated to me and it was completely bad customer service not to advise the person you are suppose to pick up of any delays or changes. Not once was I contacted by this branch, all information i received was due to me reaching. After calling and being placed on hold for 10-15 minutes. A pick up that was scheduled for 11:30 am initially, to 5pm, to 5:30 to around 6 to no pick up. I asked for Mark to transfer my reservation to BWI and requested he contact that branch to confirm they can accommodate me due to my reservation being an insurance claim rental. He said he could give me the number and I could call myself, I then asked could he contact that branch and assist with the transfer and confirmation due to this inconvenience. He then said its been transferred and hung the phone up! I called back and asked did he hang up on me, he stated he transferred my reservation and he thought we were done. I asked how?? You didn't provide me with a number nor any other information, he then hung the phone up. In my Uber at this point literally minutes away from the BWI location, I was finally able to speak with someone at the BWI location so that I could confirm my reservation has been properly transferred. At which point the representative advised they would be unable to assist me, airport locations due not accept insurance claim rentals. I then had to call my insurance company as request for them to complete another reservation for another rental company being as though I have had the worse experience ever with Enterprise. The level of disrespect and customer service is unacceptable! To have the stress of being in a hit and run accident and having your vehicle be totaled, dealing with hospitals and other issues that come with an accident, then to have this experience with a rental car organization... it has been the worse!! I read on the website "It is the obligation of all car rental companies to maintain your customers' trust in the industry. It is your obligation to exercise the utmost duty of care to protect your customers." COMPLETELY FALSE. This has been a disgrace and I will be contacting corporate about this horrible disgusting experience. Leadership should definitely know better... read more
