I rented a car here after booking a cabin in Shenandoah which required 4WD to access. NextCar seemed to have the best price and was the closest location for pickup.  Upon arrival, they needed proof of my insurance since I wasn't using theirs which wasn't something they told me I needed to provide. I've rented cars many times through other providers and have never needed that documentation on hand. It delayed me quite a bit having to dig up the doc via the Geico app so that was a little frustrating. I told the employee at the counter that I absolutely needed four wheel drive and I confirmed that the vehicle I had booked was the one I was receiving. The vehicle was different but I was assured it was still 4WD. However, once we got toward our destination, I was disappointed to find the car struggling to get up the gravel mountain roads. We were sliding and hydroplaning and it was pretty dicey at times. Definitely not the most relaxing way to start our vacation. We actually ended up having to leave a night early because there was some icy weather coming in and I didn't trust that the car would be safe enough to drive down the mountain. I let the employee know about my concerns once I returned the car but was once again assured that the car was 4WD. It was a Toyota Corolla Cross which is not inherently 4WD and the vehicle had no indication that it was 4WD on the back like cars normally do. I'm not sure if the employee was being truthful or just trying to get one over on me. It's hard to tell. Either way, I wouldn't trust NextCar for my next rental which is disappointing since I do travel quite a bit. It also seems like they have policies which could result in nickel and diming like the $100-$300 cleaning fee for something as simple as mud, which I saw posted on a sign at the counter. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!!!!! They double charge you for tolls. CHECK YOUR BILL!!! THE PAYMENTS ARE NOT CORRECT. Chris the customer service rep supervisor was awful. I was speaking with him regarding my bill. He talked over me, contradict the things he was saying, he became aggressive and condescending during the call. Each payment that posted to my account he refused to address unless it was his way. I was unable to ask all of my questions due to his "I'm the boss" attitude. I asked him over 10 times to stop calling me ma'am, he refused to do so. I told him I don't like being called that. He continued to call me that even after I asked several times. I asked him to address me by my name. My concerns were never addressed. I rented a intermediate which was a Jetta my total was $949 for two weeks!!!!!! DO NOT RENT FROM NEXTCAR!!!! They are BEYOUND over priced. His customer service and the price for the car are two problems you should stay away from. Hence the 253 NEGATIVE complaints. Next time ill be checking reviews. They needed proof of insurance (no other company asks for this.. but ok), Then, they needed to check my insurance rates. They would not rent to me because I didn't have enough insurance!! (I have a policy with Progressive) Went to a different company and rented a vehicle without any issues. read more

So I was sp skeptical about getting a rental car here. I normally go to Alamo. That is my favorite place but I didn't feel like going all the way to BWI and this was down the street from my house. I gave them a chance. I didn't make a reservation so I felt like that was going to be a problem from the jump. I walked in and got a rental in less than ten minutes. They didn't give me no problems! They didn't ask no stupid questions, there was no judgments. Now while I was there.... there was a lady that left out in tears... She had problems.. I didn't! Considering where this is located I know that they have to be different and mirror the customer base but I got what I needed! I only had the car for like 11 hours. I got my deposit back quick and everything went well. I think that I would still go to Alamo though because it's cheaper! LOL read more

No overnight drop off & access to lot is blocked off for overnight return. Keys were dropped off while car was parked outside of the facility and and a $100 unauthorized driver fee was placed. This place likes to nickel and dime. Do not recommend this location or company. read more

You have an employee by the name of Sotiria in your North Avenue location in Baltimore that really needs to be given an EXTREMELY HIGH ACCOMODATION for EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE ! I had an issue with my contract that I was about to go into ORBIT OVER and this representative gave me nothing but Top quality professionalism , understanding and empathized with my ordeal which is EXTREMELY RARE THESE DAYS!!! I would love for her to be acknowledged by corporate because she made what could have escalated into a bigger problem into a positive outcome!!! I have been renting cars at Nextcar on North Ave for several months now and I always seem to get the same young lady to wait on me. She is so pleasant and patient with me. One time I was agitated because the process to verify my insurance was taking longer than I expected, Sotiria just remained calm and still offer me great customer service. Worst customer service ever! The distract manager Thiam was no help in resolving a problem with the faulty rental car they put me in. Instead he and employee Ladaijah thought it was best to blame the customer for maintenance and service lights being on in the 5/6 car that they put me in!
