I was extremely inconvenienced and terribly disappointed today. I had reserved a car for two days since I have just recovered from a foot injury and have my car in the shop. I used a company discount. When I arrived, I was told I would have to provide a paystub or proof of my address other than my driver license because my card says "Debit." It is a card that works as credit and debit. Everywhere I've used it, including car rentals in Europe, has a place to click on "Credit" for this card. I explained this to the worker, and he said, "No. It's a debit card. It says it right on it." I said, "Yes, but it works both ways. Could you just run it and try it as a credit?" He refused and said it was company policy. This was after I had tried to log onto the Internet to get my evidence (none of which was mentioned on their website when I made the reservation.) There was no reception in their office, so I used their neighbor company's guest Wifi but was having trouble logging on to what I needed. The WHOLE time, the guy at the counter kept saying, "You just need a paystub." I kept saying, "I know. That's what I'm trying to get." He would not accept my employee ID card as verification either. He had the IQ of a Christmas cheeseball but without the personality. He was so bad at customer service and so annoying that I just swore and said to forget it. I walked with my injured foot to somewhere where I could get reception and call an Uber. Management needs to know that that kid needs some training in customer service and that they need to change their policy or get a better pay service that lets them click on "Credit" like everyone has. Funny thing, while I was there, somebody called for a car and was desperate, but they couldn't give her one because I had the last one reserved. So they lost my business and hers that day, plus any of my business in the future. Oh, and what I do in my company involves letting everyone know about company discounts. So over 1,000 employees will not be getting the information to use their Enterprise discount, so they've lost that business, too. read more

I loved my experience with Enterprise. And let me say that Daniel is such a professional guy! I came in as my insurance at me up with a rental as my apartment complex totally screwed up the back end of my new Tesla, but that's for another review. I was dropping my car at a body shop in Lafayette and walked over to Enterprise--they did offer to pick me up, I just wanted to walk--and they are so nice!!! I came is and Daniel helped me. He put me in this crazy red monster of a Challenger (which I had so much fun in) while my Tesla was being repaired. What a change from my electric car... I reserved my rental car so I could pick it up the morning I was dropping off my Tesla. Joey and Griffen exceeded my expectations during the process. They corrected some issues that were not completed when I setup the rental car reservation. They were very kind and patient while I figured out what I wanted to do. Could not agree more with the rest of the reviews, Mario and the team here are spot on... friendly, fast, efficient, and courteous! The best part, is the pick up and drop off! Mario went above and beyond to support us. We had left with a Hyundai and came back later in the day for Chevrolet as the Hyundai wasn't powerful enough to change lanes quickly and we were worried that it might be dangerous since we were driving to LA. Mario was ready for us and we were able to switch cars in less than 10 minutes. Props to Mario! The only problem is that their fleet of car is quite limited...I believe this location has about 150-200 cars as compared to the Walnut Creek's Enterprise's fleet of ~500. Hence, switching cars or picking cars may be quite slim as they are always busy. read more

I was refused service, even though my city's Enterprise didn't have ANY CARs that day. I cannot believe that Enterprise left me car-less due to a policy that they won't rent to a person that lives in another (closeby) town. I explained to them that my car was in the shop and my city's Enterprise didn't have any cars to rent and the man at me YELLED at me, made me feel unwelcomed and said "that's THEIR PROBLEM!" My parents' car has been starting to act up, so we've basically been using my little 'ole PT Cruiser to get around. This works well enough on weekdays because I take BART to work, but not on weekends. Last Friday, I tried to look at the negotiated rates that my company has with Hertz, and it seemed like $80 was what I'd have to cough up for a Friday evening through Monday morning rental. It's not an absolutely terrible rate, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to shop around a little more. I am sooo glad that I did. I checked Enterprise's website and saw that they had a 100 miles/day weekend special that started at $9.99/day. Not every Enterprise location participates in this special, but luckily for me, the Lafayette location was participating, and it's actually the closest one to my house. I made a reservation to pick-up an economy car at 5:30 PM, and within an hour, I received a call from someone at the Lafayette location to confirm. I would highly encourage people to use the online reservation system because it really speeds up the rental checkout process. When I arrived in Lafayette at 5:30, all I had to do was give them my confirmation number and name, my driver's license, and a credit card. (Note: The name on the credit card must match that of the driver's license. If there are two of you, you can't have one person give their license and another their credit card.) The manager at this location is really friendly and very knowledgeable. I've been to other locations where they do a walk around to check for damage, have you initial and sign a few blanks, and then let you go. At this location, he actually took the time to show us some of the Nissan Juke's features (i.e. how to adjust the seat, the level to open the gas tank, etc.). Dropping off the car on the following Monday morning was also a breeze. Not only that, but they were able to give me a ride to the Lafayette BART even though I had forgotten to give them advanced notice. All in all, I paid $32.52 for the weekend (much better than Hertz!), and would highly recommend this Enterprise location. read more

I've used Enterprise a ton over the last several years. (Via Costco) This Lafayette location was outstanding! Casey (KC?) took great care of my family and I, I couldn't have asked for anything more, wonderful customer service. He had several choices for us and let my daughter age 12 choose the car. Only reason I gave 4 stars in lieu of 5 was that the hours are on the light side. They do have an after hours drop off key box but would like to see them open for a few hours on Sunday and a little longer on Saturday. I will absolutely use them again. read more

I have rented here before with excellent customer service. This time not so well. They didn't want my debit card, even though I had rented here before with no trouble, they could not pick me up in a timely fashion from Lafayette Auto Repair (A less than 2 minute drive), the new manager was bad mouthing the old manager who I had great service with. It is bad business etiquette to bad mouth other employees or ex employees. It is less than professional. Car was alright, customer service was awful. I expected a lot more considering the neighborhood and all the other good reviews, but looks were deceiving. I placed an reservation a good 4 days before the actual date to give them enough time to prepare a car but for some reason that seemed to be too much instruction for the manager to process. When I went to pick up the vehicle the manager shows me a Town and Country and asks me to take that car rather than the econo car that I asked for. But that didn't bother me as much as the unnecessary questions that were asked to me when he was about to hand over the keys. Asked specific questions about my employment and my insurance which I didn't bother to bring cause those are things not normally asked when you rent a car. Other questions were asked before I could leave that made me feel like I was being interrogated rather than renting a car. I was planning on extending my rental due to need, but it won't be with this place. I don't know if it was me or if it was an off day, but if you want to rent from someone who's like a prying relative........ rent here but if you don't go somewhere else. read more

Enterprise Lafayette just lost my business. I don't own a car so I've been renting from them for years, and always had a great experience until management changed. First, they never have cars anymore. This was never an issue under previous management when I'd always arrive with great cars to choose from. Now every time I rent from them they either do not have any cars at all(!) or only have one car available, never in the category I reserved. I don't how this is possible when I always reserve weeks in advance. This time it was an older Chevy Impala that reminded me of a sketchy old man's car. I had reserved an Economy and an Impala is Full Size. I asked if there was anything else and of course the answer was no. So, renting from them usually requires a drive over to the Walnut Creek location (see below), where they have lots of cars available and numerous competent individuals to help you. If anything, this is just advertising to Lafayette clients how much better the WC location is and how we should all transfer our business there. Second, their driver should not be driving. He's a nice old man, but he is an unsafe driver and a liability to the company. I narrowly avoided a major car accident when he was driving me to the Walnut Creek location. He blatantly ran a red light (not a light that just changed from yellow to red, but a solid red). We approached the intersection at full speed while perpendicular cars also accelerated toward the intersection. My fight-or-flight kicked in and I screamed bloody murder. He slammed on the breaks and we came to a screeching halt in the middle of the intersection just in the nick of time and I sustained major whiplash. His words, as to why we almost died? "I was talking to you." Besides that I had yet to say a word to him since getting in the car, if you are not capable of talking to someone while driving than you should not be a driver. If you are not capable of driving without running solid red lights then you should not be a driver. I was nauseous all morning after almost crashing, and my neck and upper back/shoulder have been sore since (4 days). It was also not the only poor driving I've experienced with him over the years. Today, when I dropped the car off and requested a ride from anyone other than the same man, they did not even ask why, leading me to believe there have been other complaints as well. To top it all off, they decided to charge me about $1 more than what was on my reservation for no reason. When I pointed this out, the woman's reply was "it's been doing this for months and I don't know why!" Hm... if you arbitrarily charge every customer $1 more for months, it probably adds up, and where is that money going? Into what account or whose pocket? Or, if it's truly an error why not either honor the price on our reservation confirmation or get the issue fixed? My suggestions for Enterprise Lafayette: If someone reserves an Economy car 2 weeks in advance, have an Economy car available for them when they show up. I understand people return cars late, but that's a ceaseless aspect of the business you're in and you just have to accommodate that. If you're not planning on having any car inventory, then at least have a dependable driver on staff to get people safely to another Enterprise location. I have a 2 week reservation with Lafayette Enterprise over the holidays that I am cancelling. I will never use this branch again, and will warn everyone I know about it, especially about their driver who could've cost me my life. In the future, I'll save a few painful steps and go straight to Walnut Creek. read more

Enterprise has, overall as a company, have been exceptional. This location was great for Colleen's exceptional, effective and expedient customer service. Two major factors make up this five star rating. #1, the car they provided me was superb and I was very satisfied with it. I rented it for a trip to down the coast and having that car made that trip that much better; and #2 although I overstepped one part of the agreement I entered when renting, Colleen was cool and understanding... without much as a second thought she just gave me the benefit of the doubt and sided with me on it. Worst timing ever. After driving back and forth to provide paperwork even after renting from them a week earlier caused the major delays and unable to provide services to our clients. Should have stayed with hertz but went by reviews and am extremely disappointed. It's convenient to have one right on Lafayette for locals and because they don't stock too many cars, it's always a surprise what you get. F150? The people are nice and fast. They were able to add some advice with the insurance agency. Tip, they usually don't drop off in walnut creek, so just check in before you return the car if your collision repair is in walnut creek.
