I was initially hesitant because of some of the reviews, but Darrell was amazing. He was friendly, professional, and very accommodating during both pick up and drop off. when checking out, there is absolutely no mention (Not even in terms and conditions or any other fine print) that the prepaid amount is not the entire amount im expected to pay. There will be an estimated total as well. The difference between the estimated total and the prepaid amount was entirely comprised of additional taxes and fees. Specifically the Underage surcharge. When checking out, it was $54 (which aligns with what is listed in terms and conditions). After putting in my cc information and booking the rental, the underage surcharge bumped to $168. It TRIPLED?? And now im expected to either pay a $50 cancellation fee, or more than 100 extra than I was expecting - No... That I was implicitly told I would be paying. Truly sad and disgusting. Where could this additional 114 be coming from?? I was told that sometimes these fees vary by location, but when checking out, I had selected the location I would be renting from which would have altered the fee before checking out. read more

I should have read the reviews before going here... Rented a car and the bumper was slightly detached which I did not notice so I called to confirm I hadn't done this by mistake. Nope - they knew about the issue and rented it to me anyways. While driving down the 5, the bumper nearly detaches completely and I have to pull over and duct tape it to finish my drive. They've somehow decided I'm liable for "damage" and trying to charge me $1200 for this incident. They didn't get this many 1 star reviews for nothing. read more

So unprofessional!!!!!! I reserved a truck, that they didn't have but no one called me to tell me. I came from Martinez and a call would have been the right thing to do. Her excuse was she was busy. She was very pushy trying to get me to rent a van that was obviously too small for what I was moving since I did reserve a '20' foot truck and when I say no that's too small she begins to tell me about a stolen truck someone left there with the keys. I don't know why she would even offer a stolen truck?!?!?! Waste of time waste of gas and the lady at the front desk was so unprofessional I don't know how she is even working there. Here are all the things wrong 1. It was an old car. 2. The SUV was NOT the class/size we reserved but desk insisted it was and would not charge us the price of the smaller car. The SUV they gave us was 15" shorter than what we reserved. That's a lot of storage space missing for a family of 7 with luggage. Their definition of "or EQUIVALENT" is a complete DECEPTION. They charged us for a Suburban (226 inches) and gave us an Expedition (210 inches) 3. One tire was so low the warning light was on. I had to fill it at a service station for $3!! 4. Here's the worst: the air conditioning didn't work well in HOT HUMID HAWAII for heavens sake!!!!. read more

Rented a SUV from Budget, on arrival everyone was extremely helpful, the process was quick and seamless. Got a great deal on a 2025 Ford Bronco, better price than was offered by Enterprise right across the street for a Mini SUV 3 years old with no mats inside, and a larger deposit. read more

The manager here is rude and dismissive and apparently the only employee who works the front desk. This place gives 0 effort when experiencing issues with 3rd party bookings and has no skills in collaboration or general customer service and even when I tried to cancel my reservation, big surprise, their systems were down. I will never book through them again and wouldn't recommend to anyone that would like to be treated like a customer who's spending their hard-earned money. Feel free to go across the street though, they have a nice enterprise that handled this issue in minutes. read more

NO!!!! Do not rent cars here under any circumstances! I tried renting a car here and they tried to give me a beaten up disgusting car which was in no way comparable to what I signed up for online. It was destroyed inside and out and smelled so bad I couldn't even sit in it without all the windows open. It was also very old. They said they had no other cars. I reserved it weeks ago! It left me in a horrible situation where I had to scramble last minute. I cancelled ... we will see how many hoops I'll need to jump thru with getting all my money back. Stay away!!!! read more

Big NO! We booked a Standard SUV a few months in advance and showed up to be told zero SUVs. Nada! This was for a long weekend with family in town. We were offered a truck or a small CRV. We had to take the CRV as it was 530 pm and too late to scramble. Second time with this Avis/Budget franchise. It's just unorganized with no selection considering the traffic and volume. I do feel bad for the woman at the desk. Two stars because I believe she tries but she is overwhelmed. read more

If pets weren't allowed in the rentals then dont have a sign posted in clear view stating a $450.00 cleaning fee if vehicles are returned full of pet hair, smoke etc. Notice implies that pets are permissible. LANGUAGE IS MISLEADING. Full of pet hair. FULL OF PET HAIR?!. Bollocks. If dirt on the driver floor board is what you consider "full of pet hair"then you haven't seen my naan's fan. Next time you want to complain about shedding, you may want to Do something about that upper lip and all that dandruff getting all over your keyboard. My dog's got better hygiene than you. DO NOT COME HERE. Don't waste your money. Go to Enterprise where selections are wide and varying, stellar customer service, cars don't smell like smoke and best of all there's more than 1 person working at a time. Oh and one last thing... at lease Enterprise's cars don't look haggard, beat, ran through and dragged through the mud. read more

rented an suv from the concord location. the vehicle was just ok. not dirty, but definitely not clean! returned it and it was inspected for what I assumed was dents, scratches etc. All was good, we were told. Two months later I get a letter stating there were dog hairs in the vehicle and they were charging my credit card $250!!! WTF, there were no dogs in the vehicle!! I called and complaiNed, they said they would reduce the charge by 25%. I said no, the vehicle was inspected upon return and and was fine. then they said they would take 50% off! again I said no, and I would take it up with my credit card to dispute the charge. what a racket!! never ever would I do business with budget. what a scam!! read more

I couldn't fit in the other "similar" sized models so Shaun upgraded us to a Chrysler 300 for no additional charge. This is the kind of business and great people you should support. I made a reservation for a truck 60 days before date needed at Budget office in Walnut Creek because I don't trust Budgets national reservation system. Truck rental was canceled two days before pick up. The say that they have one for me in Oakland. Why do I have to go to Oakland to. Pick up truck. A company with any idea of customer service would have the truck brought from Oakland to Walnut Creek. This is not the first time that this has happened at this location. Last year had a confirmed reservation for a 16" truck, but when I arrived the only truck that they had was a 14". The volume of a truck or not having a truck available is a big deal when you are conducting business any have people counting on you to make a pickup and delivery. Budgets national reservation system is even worse. They will make a reservation for a truck and have no clue if the truck will be available. read more
