Solid rates and when I called to extend it one more day, it wasn't so bad fee wise. I'd definitely rent here again. Since it's one dude, just hope there won't be multiple people renting at the same time or there will be a back up. It's the 'burbs, so the chances of that are slim to none.

This second time it was not as bad, but still not clean. A couple days later got a low tire pressure and ran out of fluids in the car. Since I work 3 miles from where they are located, I called them figuring that since they serviced cars they might be willing to put the put the fluids in and put the air back in the tires. Instead of providing any customer service for their product, they recommend I either go to a gas station or drive back to the dealership approximately 45 miles away to get this issue resolved. I will not be renting from this company again.

The van itself was virtually brand new and everything operated 100%. Considering the price and distance allotted I think Gogel is hard to beat.

This review is all about Patty Jepsen who reminded me what excellent service is all about…read more I'm a road dog of course, and I am accustomed to all the different flavors of red-carpet treatments with frequent flier miles, concierge levels and all that. Having been in sales and consulting for 17 years, there isn't much I haven't seen by way of perks. But a great deal of it is so much like free drinks in Vegas. The business has already calculated what it's worth to them to put you into some pre-defined slot of 'premium' service. What so many businesses don't understand is that all piles up to fungibles like coupons and discount card, free gambling chips or an extra bottle of water in your hotel room. A frequent flier above all will NEVER remember those things. We are entitled. And so after a few years everybody's premium service feels the same and not one lick of it feels special. And yet all these business keep mouthing the same thing - that it's all about a personal touch. They don't know what that's about, but I was just reminded. Patty Jepsen who runs, single-handedly I would bet, not one but two remote locations for Avis gave me that kind of service. How? Because she treated the business as if it were her business. And that's how I feel - that Avis is rather like a shell company that facilitates Patty to do what she does, and what she does is gets people like me the transportation we need. When I made my reservation, the Avis system didn't alert Patty until too late. So when I showed up, she was running things at the other branch. I hung around. She apologized and then explained. Her explanation was not an excuse, it was exactly what I would have done if I were in her shoes. She got me rolling. She gave me a discount and and upgrade to make up for the problem. She made sure that everything was right. But the thing that touched me was that she understood how she let me down and it was an embarrassing mishap. Not for me, but for her, because she wants to handle her business, and this kind of mistake is not business as usual. There was absolutely nothing fake, overly cheery, 'sorry but this is our policy' kind of crap from Patty. It was just - let's fix this. Let's get it right so you can do what you need to do. And that was her attitude. She *could* help me, and she did. And when she didn't know the answer, she found somebody who did and got that answer to me, pronto. So much of the service industry is crawling with people who say 'how can I help you' but don't actually know how, and aren't given the power to do so even if they wanted to. My experience with Patty Jepsen reminded me of how jaded I have become to expect that as the norm. Well, it is the norm. But now I know people can do better. I've seen it with my own eyes. I rent out of EWR because it's more convenient to what I have to do, but I hope everyone in New Jersey gets to know what I know about Patty. She gets things done, for me. That's what service is all about. And yes, that is as good as it gets.

I hired them to drive my daughter and her friend (17 and 18 yrs old) to NYC Port Authority Bus station. NYC. NYC. NYC. NOT BROOKLYN, which is where the driver took them. Not only did he give my daughter his outdated, non functioning GPS to enter the address, he spoke little to no English. He pulled up to a GAS station in Brooklyn and told them "we're here", and then gave my daughter and her friend a nasty attitude when they told him he brought them to the wrong place. My husband and I got on the phone with the dispatcher/owner, who reassured us there wasn't a problem. Then, after speaking to the driver, he called us back and said when I booked the ride, I told him Brooklyn. Um...no. We told him NYC, as that IS where the Port Authority Bus station is located. After asking for directions from a lady on the street, the driver finally found the station, IN NYC!!! How can a company send a driver, who isn't familiar with NYC, who doesn't speak English and doesn't know how to program a GPS, to transport a minor?!?!??? Needless to say, when we told the owner we wanted a refund, of course he said no, that the girls arrived safely. The only reason they caught the bus was because Greyhound had a delay. Of course we are disputing the charge.
