I don't own a car. In the city, I rely on Philly Car Share. When I am travelling outside the city, I rely on this Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The staff is pretty good, and though I am sure they are required to ask what I will be doing with my car, these folks seem genuinely interested in my travels be they work related or personal. But not in a creepy way. So if you have to rent a car, I recommend going with these guys. Convenient location, decent prices, decent selection of vehicles, and good service. read more

Didn't let me know over the phone on Wednesday that I can't rent with an out of state license, but the lady who got me a car for the day came through. I really appreciate the service. Got the car 9:00am Saturday, had it back by 1:00pm the same day. Cheap rates, my Yaris was decent. The $400 deposit to use a debit card was a bit crazy, but I had no issues with it. Remember to bring two ulitity bills with no past due balance to serve as a semi-credit check if using a debut card. read more

I've rented cars from a number of companies in Philly, usually making my rental decision based on whichever place has a promotional rate or comes out cheapest on a comparison site like Priceline. However, Enterprise on 19th just won me over for good. They are always extremely nice, go out of their way to help and act like they genuinely enjoy helping people. One time, they gave me a free upgrade just because the clock on the dash of a car got stuck. Another time, they waived the price of an extra day on a rental when I had to unexpectedly extend a reservation. Several times, I got an economy car and they upgraded me just because there was extra inventory available. This is by far the best place to rent a car in Philly, especially when compared to some of the rental companies at 30th street station or the Hertz next to it. read more

Pleasantly surprising for the best customer service imaginable. I started renting here when PhillyCarShare went from normal prices to ridiculous prices to homicidal-rage-inducing prices, and I've been consistently beyond impressed with Enterprise's level of service. I've seriously considered writing a glowing letter to the branch manager, but I'm slightly lazy so this review will have to suffice. You can book your reservation online but it has to be at least 2 hours ahead of your intended pickup. You will spend literally 10 minutes total obtaining the car, during which the pleasant staff will express kindness so genuine it makes you stop and look around to double check that you're still in Philly and it's still 2010. Honestly, I've left that place thinking, "man... that was nice... I should totally be nicer to people!" Kudos to a car rental place that can actually make me want to be a better person. read more

We've used Enterprise in the past, but this was our first time attempting to rent a car from their Mount Airy branch. The short story is that we had to run a bunch of errands and decided that public transportation wasn't going to cut it that day. We walked in without a reservation to find one guy manning the front desk and two other employees doing pretty much anything but attending to customers. Dude acknowledged us and told us he'd only be a couple more minutes as he helped the only other customer in the branch. This took forever and a day. Meanwhile, other people began to stream in. From what I could gather, one of them was having an issue with an existing rental, another was blocked in, and others I guess were hanging around for shits and giggles. Two minutes had turned to twenty, when dude answered the phone to explain to a woman that if she had wanted to be picked up she should have requested it when she placed her reservation. Granted, the increasingly irate customer may have been in the wrong, but dude was such a jerk about it that I could hardly feel sorry for him. As soon as that conversation was over, he took another call, this time from someone wanting to rent a car. Dude said that they don't have any cars available, and you'd think that would be the end of that, but he is such a goddamn asshole that this turns into another prolonged argument. After hanging up, I approach the counter and ask if there really aren't any cars available (bearing in mind that there are about ten left on the lot half an hour before the branch is due to close for the weekend, so perhaps I myself am not a total idiot). Then it went something like this: "Yes, we always run out of cars on the weekend. There's a lot of demand for car rentals on the weekend." "And you couldn't have told us that half an hour ago?" "I didn't know you didn't have a reservation." "Why didn't you ask us that when we walked in?" "It's been very busy, there are a lot of customers here." (Cue the boyfriend:) "And we've been waiting here longer than every one of them." "Well, it's been very busy." (Me again:) "I don't have time right now, but I'm going to report you to your manager." "I'm the manger, and anyway, I have to treat customers like garbage to compensate for my comically small tadger." I'm not completely sure about the last part because we were already out the door, but I can lip read so rest assured it's pretty much word for word. Just to drive this review home, so to speak, our experience here was so bad that we ended up buying a car. No joke. read more

I have always rented my cars worked with the wonderful folks on 19th Street, but just now had a poor experience. I telephoned to reserve a car and spoke with someone in another location. He refused to even say what kinds of cars they had in the current fleet. When I said that staff always let me know, he replied there was a new system and no contact and no information RE the fleet was no permitted. Best customer service experience I've ever had with a rental. I usually dread going to rent a car because I have to stand around and wait forever for my car ... not so here. I was in and out in what felt like minutes! The staff was professional yet relaxed. I received the car with only a quarter tank and was told that I could push the car back on empty and wouldn't be charged a fee. They also offered to let me bring the car an hour late without penalty. A stark contrast to my usual rental experience where rent-a-car companies are looking to find reasons to charge you more money. read more

Like Tom D., I don't own a car and use Philly Car Share most of the time, except for longer/overnight trips for which I use Enterprise. I have used Enterprise as my main rental company for years (first in Ardmore and Upper Darby, now here). The prices are decent for a city location (much cheaper in the burbs without all of the extra city fees) and the staff is always pleasant to deal with and helpful. I had two smallish issues during my last visit, one of which was not really in the control of the desk staff and the other the staff took care of (manager or asst. manager, I believe). I had reserved a compact car but was stuck with a full-size -- and much less efficient -- car; they had no smaller cars available because the folks who deliver them cars only delivered full-size or ginormous cars that day. Not exactly the fleet you want for an inner-city location. When I returned the car, a second guy checked me in and charged me for a couple of gallons of gas...which I had had just put in. When I inquired, he said that it was half and not 3/4 full...well, this is all subjective if the gauge is not digital. When I filled it (twice because it wasn't enough the first time), it read about 3/4 and the engine was cold...for it to have gotten as low as one-half in only two blocks seemed obsurd. When I told them this, the original guy who rented me the car said that they would just adjust it, no worries. Now I know these companies are taking a hit as much as anyone with gas prices and such, so they're cracking down, so the moral of the story is check the gauges and confirm that you and the agent are on the same page...it looked like 2/3 to me when I picked it up even though he said 3/4 so I was surprised to be charged when I had filled it back up to the 3/4 level only to have someone else tell me it was 1/2. If it's not a digital reading, make sure y'all agree! But, I'm really pleased that when we didn't, they fixed it and showed the customer service I've always relied on with Enterprise. read more

My wife had a valid temporary Drivers License she just needed to get her photo taken because her previous DL has expired. I called Enterprise and ask Megan was this OK as proof of Driver's License? On a Friday Megan told me that it was OK as long as the 60 day time frame co inside with our trip but she will have to call me back. Now it's Monday the day of my trip and Megan says that she will need the actual (DL) card. I asked her why didn't she call me or let me know Friday when my wife could of easily just took her picture for her license? She said her manager told her she couldn't accept the valid temporary DL. I said, Megan I don't think that you understand what we have can I scan and e-mail you what we have? She said, Sure and she will call me back when she receive the e-mail. Megan never called me back so I called her cause now I'm late. I get Megan on the phone again and now I'm asking her about a SUV because I reserved a compact car. She told me that I would have to put an extra $150.00 hold on my card on top of the $400.00. I told her that wasn't the case when I rented from the Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Broad and Nedro. When they aloud me to get an SUV. But back to the temp DL, She said, her manager can only use the actual DL card not a temp card. So I called the Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Broad and Nedro and told them that my wife had a temp DL and asked will they honor it They said, "Sure we do all the time. As long if the date is valid". So we went to Broad and Nedro and got a car with no problem. Also since me and my wife are married they waved the $20.00 a day extra driver fee. I returned the car to the 6801 Germantown Ave Enterprise and I heard this married couple being charged that $20.00 a day extra driver fee and I was so glad that I didn't rent a car from them. To add insult to injury, Megan went to check out the car after I returned it and pointed out a very tiny scratch that was already on it, and my wife pointed out before we left with the car. She called the manager and everything to come look at the scratch. I said, I didn't put no marks on the car. The manager says, Don't worry about it, you're covered anyway by the insurance. I'm thinking, Well why point it out then? Before we pulled off with the car they told us to not worry about that scratch because it was smaller than a dollar. Even the doors of the car looked as if they was taped shut. Just stay away from Enterprise on Germentown Ave. One more thing, I left my sunglasses in the car but Megan the very tiny scratch finder didn't contact me and tell me that I left them behind. I made a rental car reservation last night and I arrived on time this morning to pick up my car. The agent that made the reservation for me asked that I bring an utility bill, but I told the agent my utilities are included in my rent. I asked if my lease would suffice and it was answered in the affirmative. That meant to me it was fine. This would be a debit transaction and I received another positive affirmation. I was terribly blindsided when the local agent refused to honor my reservation. Firstly she insisted to have 2 utility bills and not only that, but long standing bills, which I could not provide; as I has recently stated with one of the companies and it was my first bill. Enterprise gets a BIG ZERO from me. Very bad life experience! read more

I had a terrible experience here. The manager Louis is very rude. He attempted to blame me for damage on a car that was there when I rented it. He also allow me and my children to stand in the rain while he filed a claim with my insurance company! I contacted corporate and hope that this matter will be handled in the appropriate manner. He is not professional and I shouldn't be held responsible for the negligence of another employee. read more
