Over time, they became ubiquitous across the nation. The last iteration is Enterprise Leasing at the Airports. What sets Enterprise Leasing apart from other companies is its focus on taking care of the customer. One big difference is that you are escorted out to the area, where you can pick out your car. We reserved a 15-passenger van from this location (5718 S Lindbergh Blvd) a FULL MONTH in advance. When I arrived to pick it up, they had nothing. Not a van, not an alternative, not a plan. Apparently a "reservation" at Enterprise is just a suggestion they're free to ignore. A 15-passenger van isn't something you rent on a whim -- it's for a group trip that takes weeks of planning and coordination. What made it worse was the staff. No apology. No urgency. No attempt to locate a van at another branch or make it right. Just unprofessional indifference, as if stranding a customer who planned a month ahead is business as usual here. Based on this experience, maybe it is. If you actually need a vehicle on a specific date -- especially a large one -- do not trust this location with your reservation. "We'll pick you up" means nothing when they won't even honor what you booked. read more

Reservations mean nothing to Enterprise Rental Car - they'll give your rental car to away on a first come first serve basis! DO NOT RENT FROM ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR! I reserved on-line two months in advance, a 15 passenger van from the 5718 S. Lindbergh, St. Louis office. To be sure they had the vehicle, I called the day before to confirm my vehicle would be there I waited on hold for over 35 mins to talk to a lady in that South St. Louis County office and she said, " I see your reservation. We have 7 vans on the lot. It will be no problem to pick up your van anytime after 12 noon". My son arrives at 2 PM to pick up the van and Enterprise gave the van away. We asked why? The manager said, "the last van left the lot at 12:35 PM". Why? No direct answer, but the manager insinuated that someone else with "higher priority" took our van. When we asked why didn't Enterprise call our contact number first? No answer from the manager. When we asked if there was any other Van in St. Louis we could pick up the manager said "One van, but it is in for an oil change and won't be ready till 5:30 PM." We told the manager we would only drive a group of physicians less than 100 miles total so can we please have the van now? Manager's answer, "No. It's company policy". Enterprise has a complete disregard for customer service and is callous to screwing their customers. This is a clear sign of systemic decline in a mature company gone bad. This location was an absolutely humiliating and horrendous experience. We paid over $300 online to rent a car, like we always do, and went to check-in. The employee, whose name was Emily, was extremely rude. She had an attitude from the very start. She made tons of snarky comments and asked many intrusive questions. Finally we get into our rental car, and it's parallel parked into a tight space between two other rentals. My Mom is not the best parallel parker and more of a cautious driver than I am, so I decided to help her pull the car out (even though the car was in her name). As I'm doing so, Emily, and her coworker, "Mike" come out and scold us. They yelled "you can't be driving the car! Only she can!!!" I explained that I was just moving the car so we could get out, and they said they didn't believe me, and to hand them the keys. I tried to explain the situation and they wouldn't budge. They said they were going to cancel the contract. I have never had an issue like this with an Enterprise before, and we had to be without a car for 2 entire days because of their lack of care or understanding over a small incident. They didn't even fully refund us for this issue, there's still outstanding charges. How is that fair? I observed them deal with some of the most difficult customers I have ever seen, and they responded with patience, professionalism, and kindness throughout. I got a good rate. The car was in great shape very clean and my check-in and checkout process was seamless.. Yes, they are short staffed, but they are efficient. This was hands down the most humiliating and frustrating rental experience we've ever had, and Enterprise should be ashamed. When we arrived, multiple employees walked past us without so much as a greeting while only one person actually helped customers. We stood there ignored until another customer came in--only then did a rude employee, Emily, who had previously walked past us twice, finally acknowledge us with a dismissive, "Can I help you?" We gave all of my information, went through the entire process, and just as we were ready to pay, we were told we couldn't use my information with my husband's card. Why wasn't this mentioned up front? So we start over. Then came the insulting, intrusive questions: where he worked, how long, a reference, and even a utility bill. This isn't a bank loan--it's a car rental! We were providing full coverage insurance for the rental and also leaving a $300 deposit, so why on earth would they need a utility bill on top of that? The demands were ridiculous and completely unnecessary. And after going through everything all over again, we were told the card he presented couldn't be used. So then we started over, AGAIN, with my information. That made three rounds of wasted time and embarrassment, including having a manager scrutinize our utility bill in front of other customers even after we explained it was the newest bill I had, though it still had outdated information. Emily kept demanding a "current" bill. How can I provide a bill that hasn't even been issued yet? She then told me she'd need to get it "signed off on." This was degrading, unprofessional, and insulting. Instead of being treated like customers, we were treated like liars or criminals. Not one employee bothered to explain the requirements beforehand, and their rudeness and incompetence turned what should have been a simple process into a public spectacle. On the evening of 1/3/2024 - I returned a one way rental to this location. The car was in my possession less than 24 hours in which I drove it from Little Rock to St. Louis (5 hours). When I got there I watched a young man walk around the car and call someone else over to look at what he says was a "6" scratch on the car hood." I respond - that was there when I got the car (it looked like bird poop or a scuff), but the young man "Mike" I believe his name was - was so matter of fact and rude and didn't want to hear what I had to say. I couldn't believe it. Long story short - the Little Rock office took care of me but this location was trying to take $$$ from me and blame me for nothing. Poor customer service, poor client relations, poor attitude, poor communication. Will NEVER rent or return to this location again. An apology today from this location would've been nice but nothing... Rather, the manager of the Little Rock location took care of EVERYTHING for me - and called me today to follow up. My car got rear-ended in a crash, so insurance set me up with this Enterprise Rent-A-Car location to rent a car while mine was being repaired. The first car they put me in had an odd smell, but I couldn't quite tell what it was and thought I'd get used to it, but it was so bad, I could hardly breath in it and had to drive with the windows down. They did exchange this car for a better one, and I thought I needed their extra protection coverage for a couple of days, but when I was told I didn't really need it as insurance covered it, I asked that it be removed. They said they would but after I returned the car, they ended up charging me for every additional day of their extra coverage, even though I had only agreed to two days of it. They said I was supposed to have come in physically and asked them to stop it. I searched and searched in the terms of service but couldn't find this language. And they refused to refund me. So, the lesson is beware! DO NOT agree to their additional coverage because your insurance likely already covers it, and they will not do a good job of explaining this to you. Watch out! read more

Hello on June 3rd i booked a reservation for a 7 passenger van for the dates July 28- August. A week before my reservation was scheduled to be picked up i received info from my sister who rented from you all that there was a recall on the vans so she had to end up getting accommodated for a expedition. Even though enterprise never called and relayed anything about the recall. I called Wednesday the 23rd of July to ensure that i would be accommodated and would be able to get a vehicle. I was reassured i would be. I arrived at the enterprise location Dellwood 2 hours before my reservation and sat for 3 hours being told that a vehicle would be arriving from the Edwardsville location. to be disappointment that they only had three row vehicles left and i could not be accommodated because i was using a debit card and not a major credit card even though you all messed up. So not only did my son who was going to Texas to compete in junior Olympics not get to go and was crushed and crying because i could not get the van to get him down there i lost $1400 on last min hotel cancelation. So thank you enterprise for ruining my son dreams but not accommodating a frequent customer, The manager Amanda Mendez was not training to accommodate or fine a solution at all. then Andrew Benoski stayed in the back the entire time and allowed one worker to try to help 7 people. The Enterprise Rent - a - Car in Maplewood, MO was phenomenal! I was having difficulty locating a vehicle at any of your other offices while my own car was having repairs done and when I went into Maplewood and spoke with Victoria, she was able to get me into a rental - she also helped out a couple of other people while I was waiting. Daniel went above and beyond in making sure the car was picked up for me and that I knew how to operate everything, even though there was a torrential rainstorm. When I turned my rental back in after the repairs of my car, Daniel was very helpful while I was dealing with some issues between the repair shop and my insurance company. I've not had an occasion to use this location before but after the service and hustle shown by Victoria and Daniel, I will definitely use it in the future, and I will let others know as well. read more

Worst experience I have had with customer service in a long time. I would call this location a dumpster fire but at least dumpster fires give off warmth which this location and company is sorely lacking in. I was rented a Mitsubishi through my insurance so I didn't bring up any issues with. The car reeked of smoke (even though there were multiple cheap no smoking stickers), there was a service light on for the engine and all the hubcaps were missing. But who cares... It was a cheap car the insurance was renting. Well insurance settled with me and stopped paying for the rental even though I hadn't received my check from them to purchase a new car. So NO ONE tried to tell me for six days and I didn't find out for eight days because "are understaffed" and "didn't have time" to reach out to the CUSTOMER then they charged me $30 a day plus fees when I told I would bring the car right back as soon as I got into town. Just for clarity in the same time I rented a brand new Challenger from your competitor for the same rate with no "insurance deal" cut with the company. Worst experience ever. WORST CAR ever. I rented from Enterprise on Sep. 14, 2023. I received no contract and was told they would email it to me. The car they put me in was a dud, no hub caps on the 2 front tires, the car was filthy & appeared to have a fly infestation. Because the vehicle's front tires were unstable the car drove bumpy. Enterprise called me early the next morning to come in & switch the car out. When I went there I was informed the they closed on Sat. at 12:00 pm at that time, it was after 10:00 am. Because I never received a contract, I was unaware that the location closed at noon on Saturday. So basically I had time only to refuel the car and leave it at Enterprise. The manager was all the way in the back,, when he saw me he came & interrupted the front counter rep from waiting on me & told him to go outside and walk a customer around the vehicle he was returning, while he, the manager completed my rental information. I was sent home to get a utility bill because I was not informed I would need one. When I returned the original front counter csr was the one who completed my rental. Obviously, the reason that the manager rushed to take over my rental information was because he was trying take advantage of me being an elderly Black woman. I was charged for two days instead of the one day that I drove the car, Two days of insurance whereas I declined the optional insurance, accepted the damage waiver so I was charged for two days rental and two days of insurance. The insurance that I opted for was 14.99 a day, I was charged a total of $25.99 a day for insurance. read more

Beware!!! I would give zero stars, but that is not an option. Do not believe the guy when he walks you around the vehicle and says they aren't worried about the little stuff you point out! Make sure you look at the roof! They claimed some dents on the roof of their car that I could only see once the lady that checked me in pointed them out to me. It was sunny when I picked the car up and overcast when I brought it back so I could not see the dents until she pointed them out. I had to position the camera just right to get shots of the dents. Horrible customer service!! I was in an accident so got a rental car through my insurance, Enterprise came and dropped off a car to me. I got in and the first thing I said did someone smoke in here it smells bad of smoke. The sales girl said no they shouldn't have but I can't smell anything. Maybe it's the cleaner we used, no sorry it definitely smells of smoke. So I take the car thinking maybe it would just go away well it didn't. It gave me the worse headache, made my clothes, my handbag and my work bag smell of smoke too. If I am coming out of the car smelling of smoke then something is definitely not right. So I call to talk to them about it. They say sure we can get you a new car can you come at 4:30. So I get there a little before 4:30 and they take my name. As I am waiting outside in the rain with about 10 other people they come to tell me they are sorry but it's been busy and they have no more cars . Are you seriously kidding me right now you have no more cars?!?!? We can call another branch for you they say but may take a day or two because they are busy too. I am having my car repaired at Shaffer Auto body because we were rear ended. Their insurance is paying for the repair along with the rental. I told them I work at Gent Motors, and would like a GM car. I also said if a GM car was not available, I would take any American car. I heard the agent at the auto body shop relay the information to Enterprise. They showed up in a Hyundai. I asked the young kid why he did not bring an American made car. I reserved a full sized car. When I arrived at my scheduled time, they had none. The salesman sold me on accepting a Kia Soul, he told me it was the equivalent of full sized vehicle. When I got home, knowing nothing about this vehicle, I did some research. It is classified as a sub compact. So Enterprise took my full payment for a full sized vehicle and completely screwed me. I don't have time to go back to the rental office, so I am stuck paying full price for a sub compact, and I have to use this vehicle for a 1400 mile trip. Never again will I use this rental agency. I rented a car while mine was in the shop, and the first thing they did was offer me a free upgrade! I can't remember the reason, but I was so pleasantly surprised! Then when I dropped the car back off a few days earlier than expected, they were so very professional and quick to get me back on my way. The assistant manager, Henry Raup, was exceptionally accommodating and courteous. In fact, everyone in the office was as well. Had some "meh" experiences with STL area Enterprise rentals in the past but based on time & location, decided to give them another go. Car was reserved a few days in advance but had to wait 45 minutes after the scheduled pick up time for them to clean and otherwise "prep" the car. Not a word was said to acknowledge the wait--making it seem like this was the way they do business. My car was soaking wet for the damage inspection and all scratches were hidden. And the gas was noted as 7/8ths of a tank on pickup. When I'm dropping my car off at another location, do I trust the new location won't charge me for returning not full. And how do I fill to JUST 7/8ths of a tank??? Really Enterprise, you should NEVER put a customer through this concern. (And I was offered no compensation for the full tank. Not a WORD. Grrrr.) Within 24 hours, the "engine oil service needed soon" light came on--and remained on for the duration of my stay. (As if I'm going to drive back to the "nearest" Enterprise to wait even more for them to do regular maintenance--on *my* dime? No thanks.) Summary: it wasn't a *horrible* experience but it was a poor-to-bad experience with the car rental itself with poor customer service. They said yes. We showed up. There was one associate interacting with customers while the rest flitted in and out. First off, I booked a standard sized car through rentalcars.com which ended up being a Kia Soul when I arrived at Enterprise. The gal that I worked with was very helpful and upgraded the car to a mid-sized SUV ($100 upcharge). During the inspection I was told that any ding within a 3 inch area is not considered damage so after pointing out 3 or 4 dings and being reassured by the agent that it was no big deal, I figured what's the point. The real problems started after I returned the vehicle. I was contacted by Kevin who left a voice mail on my phone that he needed my insurance information concerning the unfortunate hail damage to the vehicle. Apparently there was previous hail damage mainly on the roof of the car. The funny thing is that standing next to the SUV you can't see the roof without using a ladder. My trip was to New Orleans to go on a cruise and the car had been parked in covered parking lot for a week. Last time New Orleans received hail was March of this year. I told him that when I checked the car over at pickup I was told about the 3 inch damage is fine and after it is dropped off it becomes "any and all previous damage". It just so happens that another couple was waiting for Kevin for the same reason "Hail damage". Sketchy business practices with the unscrupulous manager Kevin.
