May 18, 2026 - May 26, 2026 I rented a vehicle from Enterprise on Lakeside Dr and it was a terrible experience. First, the technician stated they only had about six vehicles on the lot for rent, even though there were many cars sitting on the lot. Secondly, He said most of those cars were for sale. Third, since I did not pre-arrange a rental, they only had one vehicle left on the lot for rent. Those cars rented for about $55 a day, but I saw on the internet, a panel truck rents for $117 a week, but I was told there were no panel trucks available. Next, I was given a 2026 VW TAOS. After receiving the vehicle, I was not given instructions on how to operate anything inside the car. Then, before I drove off the lot, I asked the technician, "How do I adjust the seat"? He showed me how to adjust the seat and I departed from the lot. After driving a little while, I could not see out of the side mirrors and I stopped at another Enterprise office and was given instructions on how to operate the mirrors. Finally, it was time to fill the gas tank! I had no clue! I looked on the leftside, a little by the door side, on the side where most gas levers are located, but unfortunately there was no gas lever. I panicked. I stopped at an HEB grocery store gas station and I had to ask a strange man to help me locate the gas tank lever. He didn't know where it was either, but he said unlock the vehicle and he pushed on the gas tank door and it opened. And lastly, the front passenger door was broken and would not open from the inside. My passenger pressed the unlock/lock button and the passenger door still would not open. I had to get out of the drivers seat, go around the car and open the passenger door. I was not informed the passenger door was broken. RECOMMENDATION: The technicians need to ask the drivers if they know where the most important functions of the inside are to operate the vehicle, such as seat adjustment, mirror adjustments, radio function if you want to connect your phone to use the navigation system and allow hands free phone calls and above all, the gas tank operation!!! read more

I had an extremely frustrating and concerning experience with multiple Enterprise Rental Car locations. I was initially given an economy vehicle, which I understand is part of my rental agreement. However, the condition of the car made me feel unsafe. Every time I braked, there was a loud noise, and the vehicle felt slippery on wet roads, as if the tires were not reliable. Because of these safety concerns, I contacted three different Enterprise locations trying to find a replacement vehicle that met my rental agreement and felt safe to drive. None of the locations had a suitable car available, and I felt that my concerns were not being taken seriously. Customer service ultimately redirected me to a location I had already contacted. When I arrived at that location, they prepared a replacement vehicle, but the check engine light was on, so I was asked to wait for another car. When the next vehicle arrived, the low tire pressure warning light was on, and the car was nearly out of gas with only two miles to empty. Despite pointing this out, I was still given the vehicle. By this point, I was exhausted and just trying to safely pick up my daughter from school and get home. What should have been a simple rental exchange turned into hours of frustration across multiple locations. This experience raises serious concerns about vehicle safety, maintenance standards, and customer service consistency. Had a great experience with this location. They picked me up from the collision center, got me in a vehicle within 30 minutes, and when the collision center informed me too late in the day that my car was ready, they worked with my insurance and got me covered to keep it one more day. The best part I really appreciate was the follow up call that just let me know I don't have a balance, the car was returned in good condition, and he asked how my experience was. I booked a reservation for a 12 person van back in March of 2026. Coming closer to my reservation day, I needed to add another driver to the account. I've visited the location 4 times now and have gotten a different story each time. Finally on 6/16/26 I told "E-lisaha" that I feel like I've been "jerked" around. I did use a different word. This location has wasted more of my time than I ever wanted to spend there. Not only is this location very unprofessional, They also are very confusing. There are 3 different doors for Car, Van and Truck. Each department does NOT want to help eachother. Today around 4pm I get a call from a guy named Ben, He notifies me that my rental for Saturday the 20th is being cancelled due to them not having any vans available to rent. I booked this van plenty of months back, and they are cancelling my rental days before I'm supposed to take a group of people to Florida! He showed now remorse and offered no solutions. All he could say was "i have to call plenty of other renters and let them know i can't get them rented out". I called the corp. number and spoke to a lady. She infact was able to find 2 locations in SA that have the van available for rent. She told me I would need to discuss the price with each branch to see if they will honor my price that i booked months ago! I'm confused on why thats my job and my issue. I'm at a loss of my Ben can't pull from these other lots. The rep told me, they should honor my rate because if not, the van will sit there all weekend without being rented out. She did give a great answer tho. She told me, when she ran a branch and if this happened. She would offer the customer 2 full size vans at the price of the ONE 12 passenger van. Now there would need to be 2 drivers, but the family would get to the destination. Ben did not do this. He offered no compassion, took no responsibility, no care in the world. I have 2 days to find a 12 person van to take my family on vacation and Enterprise has literally given me one of the worst experiences ive ever had! No help, No solutions. I expected more from one of the biggest rental chains in the states. This location disappointed me big time. I had a reservation for a different location which was a much smaller location and didn't have any cars available for me so I went over to this location which is 8422 lakeside pkwy and omg‍. They let all the people who came in after me choose a car, and after waiting for over a hour and a half, called my name last to finally tell me all that's left is a Mitsubishi mirage hatchback, when you can clearly see all the other cars they had‍. I guess my enterprise plus membership, or the fact that I have been a top tier member for years doesn't mean nothing to you all, which sadly disappoints me. I've come to this location a few times over the last couple years, and every single time it has been a terrible experience. I have experienced a severe disconnect between what I am told on the phone and what I encounter at the store. Things are promised on the phone reservation system that the store is absolutely unwilling to accommodate, whether it be unavailable cars, or rates that they won't honor in person etc. My first experience at this location was a disaster. There were scratches along the side and hood of the car that I rented and they confidently told me not to worry about them since they weren't big enough or deep enough. I took pictures of them anyway because I refuse to get hosed by these guys. Sure enough, when I turned the car in, they called me to ask how I'd like to take care of the damage. They referred me to their damage claims office, even after I showed them pictures and told them how they assured me I wouldn't be blamed for the scratches. Luckily I had pictures because after a few emails, they dismissed the charges. It makes me wonder how many folks have been shafted this way. I used them again this past week when my truck was in the shop for hail damage. The insurance covered $35 a day, and over the phone I was told they could get me into another equivalent pickup for that price since they work with my insurance a lot. In person was a way different story. They absolutely refused to honor what was told to me on the phone. Not only that, but they only had midsize cars available (even though I had a reservation). After haggling with the guy for a while he finally agreed to give me a Durango for an extra $6 a day which came out of pocket. Low and behold, when I go to turn in the Durango the part of the price magically jumped to $15 a day. Somehow, the guy did not put the $6 a day price difference in, or intentionally switched it on me. When brought to the "manager's" attention, he absolutely refused to honor what I was initially told. I eventually got it sorted out by calling the office and speaking to someone who actually cared about their customers, but these folks they have as reps are severely lacking in the training and customer service areas. Another huge complaint is that EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I have been to this location, the wait has been ridiculous. You'd think that on a Saturday with dozens of reservations, they'd have an adequate amount of staff on hand. Nope, just one guy serving a lobby FULL of people. EVERY. TIME. After this latest experience, my mind is made up that I will never deal with Enterprise again, at least this particular location. They have no idea how to keep plenty of cars available for confirmed reservations, or how to keep their word, or staff themselves adequately to accommodate the demand. Heyyyyy friends. As I looked at the reviews it's obvious why the rating are SOOO low. I had a reservation weeks ago and still this location is not prepared! They overbook and under supply for the demand. They are worried about making sure they have lunch breaks instead of getting the customers out on time. They have one of the largest locations in this area BUT still you're going to be waiting over an hour which doesn't make sense because if you have a reservation why are you waiting for them to wash a car. Also while dropping my car off to be repaired another customer was picked up and brought to the same location. They could have brought both of us at the same time instead of me being told I had to wait 20 minutes for someone to pick me up. Would NEVER use this location EVER again. By far the WORST of the worst locations. Sad part is for the wait I could have walked all the way home! Then after you sit for over an hour you have to wait for a car that just pulled up to be washed and fueled. I was patient entering and my duration at this location. The associate that helped me had to be told to do things that he should know before giving a customer a vehicle. He tried to give me a suv that was dirty as if someone just dropped it off. I had to ask for them to clean it, I'm talking windshield and all. He didn't explain anything to me about the vehicle, just handed the keys over and told me to have a good one. As soon as I drove off the lot the vehicle showed signs of having issues with the brakes. I turned around and brought it back. The associate that assisted me with the rental brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal. At this point I'm livid, but trying to hold my composure. So, I asked who is above him and by the grace of God the GM is an old client of mine. Once they realized that I actually know here that's when he wanted to change his behavior. When we went to pick up our rented van it was not ready. They said it needed an oil change saying it would be ready in an hour. It took an hour and a half before we finally got it. They supposedly pride themselves on the cleanliness of their vehicles. This one was filthy. It looked like it was rinsed with dirty water. 11/9/18 Second experience with them. Overall better. Had a long wait to actually get the car, almost an hour which is why did not upgrade them more. However the car this time was appropriate and clean. Really pleased with service on return. I got there a few minutes after closing but someone was in the building and they gladly took my car back. Much improved customer service overall. Fair experience overall. Got rental with them thru my auto insurance as my car getting fixed at caliber collision Nextdoor. Had reserved a car thru my auto insurance website as they have an agreement with them. Unfortunately the type of car I requested was unavailable and I got the last car they had available as I did not want to wait. I was dropping my car off at caliber collision and had to wait over an hour to be picked up by Enterprise. Then I get there and they do not have my claim number since I am going thru insurance. Apparently you get treated worse if you are going thru insurance. After I called Progressive again and fixed that problem someone drove in with a Camry with a 2 foot crack across the front windshield and they took it and washed it and that is the car I was given! I told them I didnt feel safe driving this vehicle but the assistant manager said that was all they had and they could switch it out in a couple of days! So it was take this or walk home?? One of the most important things to understand about this Enterprise location is that it is *NOT* a full-featured large rental car lot. It exists solely to support the Caliber Collision body shop next door, and it has a very limited inventory. So if you come here needing a particular vehicle, you're probably going to be disappointed. But if you just need something to get you around while your car is in the shop, you'll be just fine. Needed a last minute rental for the weekend and not only did they get me a decent little Hyundai but the overall customer service from start the finish was top notch. No surprise fees, no run-around, everything was perfect. My insurance company (The Hartford Insurance) rented a car from the branch located at the turnaround and I 410 very close to the repair shop 'Alamo Collision.for me during the period 29/4 to 5/9/2018. My insurance company told me that I am covered for the payments and as such, I don't have any payments to make. The rental company proceeded to charge me $65.00 . When I made a call to them I encountered a very rude associate who is not fit to deal with humans. He told me that he is dealing with a customer and I retorted that I was also a customer and I needed some explanation. He hung up the phone on me. Do not rent from this location!!!!!! I rented a car for a week a my return date was on memorial day. They told me they were open till 1pm but when we arived around 10 am the doors are locked. I called the 1800# and was told " just keep the car till tomorrow" I explained that we are traveling in an rv and needed to be back in phoenix in two days ( it's a two day drive back). The guy on the phone said the only thing I could do is take it to the airport location. I ask if he knew that an rv would make it to the location and he responded " I don't know". So we decided to try but could not take rv in. I called the 1800# back and the land said take it to a after hours location. So we drove another hour to that location just to find it overflowing. So the only place to park on the property was in the grass area. In this area was a stump so my wife guided me while backing so I didn't run it over. We dropped the keys and left town. The next day at around 1pm I called to make sure that they got the car back and make sure I didn't get charged for the gas because I had to drive around town and to make sure they go the car back. They discounted the gas and said all was good. Then two weeks later I get a letter saying that I had to pay for damages on the car. Long story short they want over 800.00 and said they had video of me hitting the stump but won't send it or the so called video of their employees moving the car. I spoke later the same day with Jennings from your Risk Management department as I was directed to do so by Kyle, the Area Manager. I explained again in detail to him where I had parked and that the employees had even told me I could park my vehicle there for the next couple of days. I parked in a spot that was clearly marked "Enterprise Customer Parking" and I have pictures that I can forward to you upon request, (I have already sent these via text to Kyle). There was absolutely nothing posted inside or outside the Enterprise building indicating that I was parking my vehicle "at my own risk". Again, I made the reasonable assumption that because your business is one of renting automobiles, you would naturally take a reasonable amount of precaution to ensure the security of your customers property. Jennings informed me that Enterprise was not responsible and that he was sorry for what had happened. He was very polite and I would say that our conversation was professional but unfruitful to start with. I informed Jennings that I was not in a position where I really wanted to "argue" about whether or not Enterprise was at fault, I just needed to have the name of the person of record to be named in the small claims suit as this particular Enterprise was not listed with the state of Texas S.O.S. He proceeded to ask me if I knew about some kind of "bell" law or something like that and I told him I was not schooled in law and that it really wasn't something I wanted to dive into. I just wanted to know the name of the person of record to name in a small claims suit. He then told me that he himself was the one that I would name because he was responsible for risk management with the company. I will say towards the end of the conversation I began to feel like he was talking down to me a bit indicating that I was crazy for even thinking Enterprise had any responsibility. I ended the call by thanking him and informed him that although he may think I'm silly for the way I'm thinking, I believe that in small claims court I think I could show that a reasonable person would have made the same assumptions that I had made. I let him know that for me it would be worth going to court and trying as it only costs $80.00 in San Antonio to file a small claim and if I win, Enterprise would also have to give me the $80.00 back. I then went to the shop, "X" Automotive" to check on the cost for repairing my vehicle. They had not started the work yet and they informed me that it would cost a total of $700.00-$750.00 to complete the work including parts and labor. Thinking this was too high of a price I shopped around and found a place that agreed to put on a universal after-market part for only $175.00 parts and labor, (Rodriguez Automotive). I picked my vehicle up from "X" Automotive and took it to Rodriguez automotive and had the work done. In all the research I have done recently, (I have never filed a small claims case), I have learned that the person filing, (me), should make every effort to come to an agreement with the other party, (Enterprise), prior to filing and should be able to demonstrate that effort to the court. This email is my attempt at doing that. In good faith I found the absolute, most inexpensive way to get my vehicle operational again. I went through the proper channels of filing a police report with the San Antonio Police Department, and of finding a place for the repair and took it there myself. I went through all the proper channels in contacting the Enterprise location, the Area Manager, the Corporate Offices, the Director of Risk Management, and now of drafting this letter to you. I was quoted a price on the phone of $30.00 a day and when I got there to pick up the car they didn't have any quote saved so they charged me $39.00 plus tax of course. I talked with a manager and he didn't help me on the least. He just said what the rental agent charged me was correct. My satisfaction didn't matter. I have rented many cars before and never have I had such problems. The Manager kept telling me it was out of his hands while shrugging his shoulders. I have rented from this location a couple of times and have never been treated like this. I'll still rent cars but not from this location. I won't recommend them to friends or family. The employees were friendly. The SUV was in good shape and got great milage. They did start to worry us about a windshield chip, until we reminded them we had bought the insurance. And the deposit was much higher than at other enterprise rentals that we have done. It was more than the actual cost of the rental with insurance by around $70.
