My most recent experience is with the I-10 location, and offers some of the best of the agency, but also a bit of a disappointment. First and foremost, the staff. James Briscoe was the agent that handled my most recent rental, and friends, I cannot tell of a more affable, friendly fellow that combines good cheer with journeyman knowledge of the rental business. I watched as he interacted with other customers in queue ahead of me, and the rule is excellent customer service with a smile. If I were king of the rental business, I would hire this gentleman in a New York minute...he is just that exceptional. But now for a bit of the disappointment with the I-10 location. I have had occasion to visit previously, and problematic is the very limited hours on weekends. The issues around car rental can be unpredictable, and closing office at noon on Saturday and Sunday is, frankly, a problem. Speaking with other customers in line, they also agreed. The other issue is staffing. On my visit recently and previously, only two agents were manning the counter. The creation of an account takes time, the physical review of an auto with the client before delivery takes time. But here is an interesting footnote. When I take delivery of a vehicle at the airport, a personal review of the auto with an agent is not required, rather depending on the renter to check and report any issues. And if there are none, you would be good to go. Perhaps the issue of auto review should be reconsidered, given the limited manpower at the I-10 location. I still consider Enterprise my preferred rental agency, and will continue as a patron. The strength of manager Briscoe at I-10 is noted, but the very limited hours at the location, the limited staffing was an issue for me.

My girlfriend found this guy from an ad he posted stating he needed someone to tag along with him for car detailing work. My girlfriend in school thought it would be a great way to make extra money, so she reached out to him. Instantly he responds back and asks her if she's available in the next 45 minutes to work... I found this very sketchy because the only thing he knew about her was her first name, and he was offering to come all the way out to where she was just to pick her up. My girlfriend insisted that I let her go and see how it went, and then if anything happened, she would call me ASAP, so I told her to tell him to come pick her up from my address, which he did. Upon arrival, I noticed that there was one other girl in the car as well, so I was a little bit relieved, but as soon as my girlfriend got in, she texted me immediately telling me that she didn't know that there was another girl going to be there and that he just introduced her and that they were going to go do a cleaning together, all three of them, because supposedly the car was so dirty that I needed three people in order to finish on time. She told me she asked him how much they would be getting paid, and he ignored their questions. She also told me that he made remarks towards his clients and their cars, stating how he was going to charge her extra because of the hairs that were left in the vehicle. She also stated how she and the other girl were doing most of the detailing while Carlos spent a long period of time attempting to get this machine to work, and once it did, it took him less than 10 minutes to complete the task while they were still scrubbing and vacuuming the same spots for over 25 minutes, and he did most of the easy work. Once the work was finished, both girls discussed how they met Carlos and how much they were hoping to get paid. Carlos ended up dropping my girlfriend back off, and about 15 minutes later he sent her the payment for the service she did, and can you believe he only sent her $50?! I mean, seriously? She worked her ass off for only $50?? This man constantly critiqued the work that they were doing even though he knew that she was new to doing this for the first time and still ended up paying her only $50. He took advantage of my girlfriend and the other girl because he knew they were women, and he didn't have to pay them much for their work, and they wouldn't complain about it. This dude is very weird and sketchy, and I wouldn't suggest any woman looking for extra money to work for him.

It seemed like a fair price and good value. It was also a quick turnaround. Unfortunately, we had to go back to 5Star again after a collision. We also didn't have to worry about dealing with the insurance because Samantha dealt with all of that for us. On five different occasions I rearranged my schedule to pick up a "repaired" car which turned out to be them mistaking someone else's car for being my own. At one point they gave my car away to an alarm shop to install an alarm that I had not authorized. I was treated poorly by Samantha for informing her of the confusion about giving my car away without my consent. When my car was finally ready I was supposed to bring a check that no one felt the need to tell me about and so left me with no other choice than paying out of pocket for $190 more than my deductible. This last item made me lose my patience. I pulled out my credit card, verified that I needed to pay the whole thing to be done and told them fine, let's get this over with as I just wanted to get out of there and go home to write a review of this fiasco. At that point Sean, the manager came in. He asked what was going on, I gave him a quick rundown of all the things that had happened including the final insult of having to pay an unexpected $190 more despite all my due diligence and that at this point I just wanted to inspect my car, pay, and leave. Sean's response was to get pissed, raise his voice and go off. I was trapped there with Sean yelling at me about how I must be perfect and don't understand mistakes while he also made insinuations about my privilege and the ease with which I must have lived - insulting and false presumptions. Sean's actions of anger and aggression was unwarranted especially considering how patient and understanding I had been throughout the process. The worst part though was that I was all too aware how unsafe of a situation I was in. Sean didn't hear, didn't care, or simply ignored the FOUR times I said that all I wanted to do was pay and leave. Instead, he just kept yelling at me, in front of his staff in the small waiting room. It was terrifying to realize I was trapped. I had a rental car I could no longer keep and my car they had the keys for and he knew where I lived. At a loss, I opened my purse, took out my notebook and pen and asked for his name, which he gave me and then I wrote it down. This seemed to kick him out of his lunacy because he finally agreed to let me pay and leave. I asked to see the work they did on my car but that woman in the office interrupted and said I couldn't inspect it until I've paid. She wanted me to accept and pay for their work, sight unseen. Sean told her no, that he'll show me the car. I inspected the work, found one small part wanting (one of the black runners had a tear in it) he tried to argue that the Geico adjuster, Mike, hadn't put that so they didn't replace that then corrected himself saying he would talk to Mike that Mike probably just made a mistake and all people make mistakes. (A small jab.) Sean then started talking at that point of how he knew about ALL the messed up things that had happened and said they were reviewing their processes to fix these things from happening again. I just smiled and expressed understanding because at that point all I wanted to do was pay, get my car, and leave safely. The next day they called me to come back in as Geico had approved the repair addendum, and they could fix the runner gasket thing. While I sat in the waiting area Sean came by and told me they wanted to return the $190 they had charged my card and to keep the check from Geico for the trouble. I highly recommend you find another shop. This experience was obviously created dur to multiple systemic problems with 5Star that all came to a head in my singular experience and imo no amount of the addressing training and "shop processes" that Sean said they were doing because of my experience, should justify risking a single person being put into a similar situation ever again. Yes, they did great work and gave me $190 back, but it isn't enough to offset the horrible way they chose to treat me and the anxiety they caused.
