Enterprise needs to train your employees on customer service. I waited 1HOUR on hold for a representative to address my concerns. Never once did she pick up the phone to update me. Then when she finally came back to the phone put me on hold again. Just to hang up on me. Offered callback that never came. I had 2 phones holding for assistance one held for an hour and the other line was never answered. That line held for 45 minutes. Totally unacceptable. Although the customer service was bad. I blame Enterprise for this egregious treatment. And when you complain there is no follow up or apologies for your lack of concern for your customers. Some of the reps are courteous and some are just plain rude. I know this is going to fall on deaf ears because I've been lied to many times before from your company. I dislike you guys almost as much as Uhaul. I get annoyed everytime I think about my experience. It took me a week just to express this much. Reliving this episode makes me want to vomit. I rented a truck from this location had the rental for over a week, than today i got up to go to work and the truck would not start. Call enterprise got no answer. Call back got an answer, got transfered to roadside. Was not please went to the location cause I had to go to work. Was told to go home Call the roadside was told I had to pay. Got the truck started went to the location again to switch out the truck and been sitting here waiting no dam help. I lost a day pay for nothing........ We rented a car for a family trip a couple weeks ago and when we picked it up, it hadn't been cleaned. The car smelled like vomit and cigars and had trash in the back seat (bags of flaming hot cheetos, gum wrappers, etc). The leather seats had a residue on them. When I called to report this, I was told a manager would reach out to me right away. He/she never did. When we returned the car (after vigorously cloroxing it ourselves) we were told a SECOND time that the manager would reach out to us. Still never did. We will never rent from here again. There doesn't seem to be an email address or easy way to reach management and they certainly don't seem in a hurry to rectify this. read more

The worst experience that i have had renting a vehicle. I booked online using my debit card and showed up before they closed. I was informed that i need to have either a current insurance card or utility bill, which i did not have on hand as my vehicle was being repaired hence why i needed a rental car. And after going back home to get my most recent utility bill, i was still denied because it showed a balance on it, but of course it would, it was a utility "bill" not a proof of payment, which i could have provided if i had known. So i read back through my payment agreement with Enterprise and yes, the young man was right, it does state that a current insurance card or utility bill is needed, but no where does it state that that bill must be paid in full prior to renting. This is not an issue of insufficient funds, i had the money and i produced a current utility bill as asked, but of course it is going to show a balance due. Any "bill" would. This experience left me confused and bewildered as to the training of the Enterprise staff and their ability to come to a logical conclusion. read more

The worst car rental experience I have ever had. I had made arrangements through my insurance company to pick up an SUV, when the car was brought, it was not an SUV. They had to drive me to a second location, which again the SUV this time was so smoke ridden and smelled we had to go to a third location. This is during work hours. Once we got to the third location and I was given the third car, the windshield was cracked. The transmission made very loud noises and the car was filthy. I cannot believe this company provides this type of service and product. Now I have been fighting with them for over two months to receive back a credit. When I call their offices, I am just put on hold and transferred to multiple people. This is exhausting, ridiculous, and the worst customer service I have ever received truly at any Rent-A-Car. I am not even sure how this happened. I booked a standard car as I was told when speaking to the Enterprise office last week that I could easily accommodate five people, and the car I received st this location was hurriedly thrown at me, my Amex coupons for $150 were not included in the price and when I asked him about it was told I had given them to him too late but it would be included at checkout. I said please write that on your rental sheet since you took my 3 $50.00 coupons which costt me 5,000 points each! I was late for my train and other people were waiting for me so I took off. Mind you I had called at 9:02 (they open at 9:00) and was told to call back at 9:50 to get picked up for my 10:00 reservation. Before I did that, I asked, If I would be picked up right away, and was told they were extremely busy, inferring its not going to happen. So I said, not a problem, I can get a ride. My sister took me who loves them and rents from them all the time, and said they are always busy, but when I asked if my car could seat five people was told yes, just not five adults. What the hell? I could not stay and fix it be cause we had tickets to Wicked (I am on vacation) and now can not leave today to go out of town because they are closed and mt car does nit hold five people! Did I mention my $69 weekly rental (plus the $150 in coupons) turned into a $479 amount because there is a $250 (which I think should be in their website) deposit and my coupons, which he took, were not credited. Now I am completely fucked. How is this tiny Hyundai a 5-seater or a Standard size? It looks like a Compact. My normal car (a Prius) seats five albeit not that comfortably, but this is tight with four.Why not take better care of your customers? They called me the previous two days to confirm my appointment, and then when I got there this morning they give me a car that's dirty as shit. The interior was like a pigsty and the exterior was no better like wtf. When I told the clerk that this was unacceptable he said that give him 5 minutes to clean the car. He got back some 40 minutes later with a wet car to send me my way. Are you serious? Long story short I lost my appointment and cancel the damn reservation. Avoid this place if you care about your money. If you reserve a car , it wont be the car you will get. Any car you rent. There is a 250$ hold that they will put on there until you bring it back. My rental was struck by a deer, and instead of giving me a new rental immediately, I had to pay them more money. The staff gives horrible customer service and takes advantage if they feel that they have leverage over someone in a bad situation. Me in that case my car is in the process of getting body work done. I've been renting from this location, 2-3 times a year for several years. I recently made a reservation and took a Lyft there. In the pouring rain, they informed me that they wanted additional documentation of my home address (which hadn't changed in all the time I've been renting from them). I had to pull up additional items on my tablet. I was soaked by the time I got the car. In addition, the staff were disrespectful. This is how Enterprise rewards customer loyalty. I rented a car last Aug. 14, 2020, at the West Orange Washington Street location. Booked it online 2 days before the trip. Printed the reservation before picking up the car. When I got there I was told that there is no car for me. The staff told me he called me early before 7:30am. Checked my phone and indeed he called me at 7:12am. I was also informed that because I reserved the car within 24 hours they have no choice but to give preference to those who reserved since January. He said he will call me when a car will be available for me, but if there are 100 cars returned that day the first fifty who booked since January will still be given preference. I was livid but kept calm. I asked if he can direct me to any Enterprise location to see if they have anything for me. I was then told that all the rental cars in NJ are sold out as of this time. He could have pretended to check but..no. "People are traveling you know". I really must look stupid. So I showed him my reservation and it showed the date as August 12. As he pretended to look at his tablet he said "I don't know why your name is coming out" and just like that, there was a car for me. I mentioned to him that it was quick. First, there was none in all of New Jersey, then there's one. He didn't answer that. He didn't introduce himself, didn't introduce some features of the car "keyless entry", giving me exaggerated pieces of information that borders on lying. It was a bad experience for me but we were able to get to our destination. I rented a car via my insurance company, and it was a very pleasant experience. They had a wide selection of cars, and I was allowed to sit behind the wheel of a few different models to judge which one I like the best. In fact, I was able to rent a hybrid! The staff were friendly and helpful, even giving me advice how to most easily maneuver around the maze of one-way roads in their neck of the woods. This is very disturbing, vindictive and threatening posture on her behalf. The corporate office tried to call to the West Orange ERAC office to no avail, they wouldn't answer the phone. Ever since Whitney left the cars are not cleaned very well. I have been overcharged on more than on occasion and instead of giving refund to correct the issue they offer you upgrades that actually end up costing you more than if you stay without the upgrade. The new manager Phil is the worst he plays with the customers too much. And again I must say it's just not the same since Whitney left and I have rented my last car from this location if not from Enterprise all together. I was charged re-fueling penalties for a vehicle returned refueled and to make it worse I was charged for 3 days when the rental was for only 2. The most disgusting experience in my 23 years of renting from this company. Desiree who is the assistant manager (lied and said she was the store manager and no one above her) is rude, condescending and lacks the professionalism to be in any leadership role at ERAC. I filed a complaint on Thursday, April 19 and yet to hear anything from management. I called customer service and have to wait for a call back. Unfortunately at 8:20am today I spoke to Desiree to confirm me dropping off the car on Sat during closed hours and she informed me that I will be charged for four days instead of two in what appears to be a retaliatory move. When I mentioned I wasn't giving a proper walk through and was unaware of the gas level and time of departure because I was shaken by the altercation she laughed and asked why would I be shaken...this is beyond disturbing. The worst experience ever... There is a huge disconnect between the person in charge of the reservation and the management present in the office. The requirements they've added after we arrived (with my children) to the office were not in the contract I received by email, and were not mentioned by their agent when I booked the car over the phone. To make it even worse, their manager tried some imaginary ways-out asking if I booked the car from a third party, as if she didn't know that I made my booking directly with them. Add the fact that they didn't provide us with any accommodation at all, though she kept repeating "we will accommodate you..". Those new requirements made it impossible for me to rent a car from them. They managed to ruin my children's day, waste almost 2 hours of our time and more than $50 for additional transportation to rent a car from a different company (without any problem whatsoever). read more

The only reason I am giving West Orange Enterprise Rent-a-Car 1 star is because they don't have zero. What I thought was a fair and honest business was anything but that. I rented a car on a day that it was raining and I did not notice a slight dent in the hood. It was not noticed or mentioned by the employee helping me. The car was hardly driven at all but yet on the sunny day i returned the car the employee that checked the car said that I had been responsible or a slight dent in the hood. They told me that the car had just been repaired for front bumper damage which could have been the cause of this slight dent. Because I did not sign up for the $20/day damage insurance, I was charged $80.00 to "repair" this damage. If I had taken the insurance it would have been an additional $19.99 per days this scam would have only cost me $60.00. I do not recommend this particular Enterprise Rent a Car in West Orange. I do not believe they will get this dent repaired and will continue to use it to overcharge customers who fail to notice it before they rent the car. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ENTERPRISE LOCATION AT ALL. My biggest mistake was trusting the integrity of the employees in regard to this matter. read more

This was my first rental from this location. I made my reservation more than a week in advance. I called to confirm 24 hours ahead of time. When I arrived at my appointment time they were out of my rental type. Melissa and Lamar were very accommodating, they offered an upgrade vehicle which was not on the property but it was on the way to the location. The new vehicle was great and after a 45 minute wait, I left satisfied. I would give them another chance the next time I need a vehicle. read more
