This is my favorite place in Lansing!! Clean crisp atmosphere reminds me of New York. The people are fantastic from the minute you enter and all through your meal. The cocktails are unique and very special they even make their own tonic!! The best is the food so delicious. I will preface this review by saying my co workers and I were the first three customers ever through the door so hopefully they will improve. We were really excited about having some cuisine near our office but found the food and device disappointing. I had the basic burger and ordered it medium but when it came it was almost well done. When I informed the waitress of this she did not offer me a new one. All she said was oh well the other one was ordered medium well so I guess he made them both that way. That in my opinion is poor service from the chef and staff. I also ordered tea, the water I was given was lukewarm at best so the $2.50 tea bag barely steeped. They use cuts of steak to make the burger meat. So?the cut of the meat was great but my meat was not seasoned. My co-worker had the Envie burger and also felt it was not seasoned at all. She was very disasspointed. My other coworker ordered the rattatoullie. She was very dissatisfied. It was in a tiny casserole dish. It was not seasoned and dry. All of the vegatables were stuck to the tiny dish. read more

Dinner was great! We had the shrimp cocktail and ricotta goat cheese appetizers and enjoyed both. For entrees we had the scallop risotto and salmon and everything was phenomenal. We will definitely make a trip back read more

We decided to try someplace downtown tonight before our play. We had seen someone share something about EnVie so wanted to check it out. We got to the restaurant around 6pm. There may have been4 people in the restaurant and I was surprised by how empty it was. I was even more surprised when the host asked us if we had a reservation and told us he was very booked for the evening. I checked the website and saw nothing about making reservations unless it was for 10 or more people. I felt like we were discriminated against because we were dressed in jeans. I doubt we will be back. read more

I was visiting Lansing on business and was staying close to the Capitol. Found Envie by chance because many of the restaurants were closed. Although Envie was short staffed, i got great service and outstanding food and wine at very reasonable price. I ended up going there twice to try their outstanding entries - duck Benedict and pork belly. I will most certainly return during my future trips to Lansing. read more

Great customer service. We had some good drinks and wonderful food. The four of us shared the whitefish pate and really enjoyed it.

I went on a Monday which is a burger and beer night for $10. Burger was pretty good, service was food and the decor is super cute. The only complaint was the restaurants temperature and the smell of fish was super strong. read more

My husband and I were in town for a game recently and decided to try EnVie the night before. It had a great ambiance and the food was pretty tasty. I didn't like that they had fries with muscle vs crusty bread but that's really a personal preference. The salads were ok but the prices were really reasonable. read more

Love the classic Parisian feel of this restaurant: long narrow room decorated in black and white. The dirty fries were a terrific appetizer and the smoked salmon sandwich was delicious. The rosé I picked was a good accompaniment, though the wine pours could be a little more generous. Service was swift and efficient. My lunch companion had been there a handful of times before me and she said everything she'd tried had been a winner. read more

Liked the atmosphere. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. But most importantly, the food was great! We went with their Valentine's special. A 32oz bone-in ribeye with 2 lobster tails. This is my go to place for craft cocktails in Lansing. The after school special with peanut butter whiskey is unique and delicious. The staff is always very professional and the food is good too. It is a bit on the pricier side so it is a not place I go to everyday, but when I do I really enjoy it. I have had a lot of their appetizers and entrees and have not been disappointed. I like that it is French inspired and the bistro feel is nice! Hope this place stays open read more

Ordered scallops with risotto, two of my very favorite foods. Scallops undercooked. Still opaque in center. Risotto was al dente, which I consider undercooked. Waiter offered to switch out dish (no scallops left), but learned salmon and trout (my other choices) are farm raised, not wild caught. I would expect more from a restaurant that professes to be of this caliber. Only reason this got 2 stars instead of 1, wine was good and service reasonable, although waiter did not know if price for oysters was for 6 or 12. Oysters were decent. read more

Wanted to try something different for my birthday and I saw envie had decent reviews. Upon arrival there was no hostess to greet us. Finally a server was able to seat us. We were not there to spend a ton so my fiancee and I just got the burger and a rueben. Burger meat had a weird taste, fries were decent. My fiancee's Rueben was awful. The meat was dark and more like roast beef than corned beef. Was also super fatty and inedible. We each had 2 bites and requested our check. Server was aghast to the idea that the food could of been bad, even the manager came over afterwards with the same view. Will not be returning. read more

Enjoyed my first visit recently with my husband. The restaurant was slow, we had come in a little after the typical dinner rush for restaurants, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful restaurant mostly to ourselves. The atmosphere is clean, crisp black and white with a touch vintage charm. Our server Katie was friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. She provided a very pleasurable service experience and a delicious wine recommendation. We tried the cheese plate which had an excellent selection of cheeses, the filet, the New York strip, and peanut butter cheesecake for dessert. The steaks were excellent and flavorful but be sure to inquire about temperature standards. I ordered a rare and got what I would typically consider a medium rare steak (I wanted medium rare, so I got what I was bargaining for), my husband ordered the same way. My husband loved the desert, it was a combination of two of his favorites. I really enjoyed the Sazerac cocktail and wine. We will definitely be returning. Wonderful place for a date night, business dinner, or meeting a friend for a cocktail. read more

The atmosphere is very nice and they have a nice drink menu. Food offerings seemed great. Love the idea of a French bistro in Lansing! We are so starved for gourmet cuisine in mid-Michigan. The staff were very pleasant and even asked and used my name. I really want to give this place better reviews because there is so much good. I will say that I did not order a full dinner but I would rate my cassoulet and dirty fries at mediocre. Some of the fries were not cooked enough and the au poivre was non- existent. I am guessing they were the restaurants attempt at Poutine. The egg on the dish was overcooked. Very underwhelming . As this is a French restaurant , I wonder if there is really any French training in the kitchen. I will try again and order an entree. read more

Didn't even get to the food. We walked in and was put in a dark corner with absolutely no light, then someone broke glass and yelled "god dammit"..it was my 11year old daughters birthday and she was not pleased so we just got up and walked out. Not going back. You would think for the price of the food we would've had an elegant time. read more

The place was just ok. Service was ok, drinks were over priced, food portions were small and quite bland and pricey. A filet is like $48 and a small piece of salmon with some quinoa was $36. Not sure it will survive in downtown Lansing. Cheapest glass of wine is $11. read more

The starters were good. We ordered the risotto balls and salmon tartare. The main dishes were fine, too, but nothing special - scallops were tasty -- the risotto with the seafood platter was too dry. My disappointment was with what the manager chose to have on the TV that my partner had to watch (unless we both faced the wall). At first, it was a show showing violence against women, which we found offensive. When we asked to have changed, it was changed to Fox News. They may offend fewer customers if they kept their TV screens on sports. read more

The food, atmosphere and service have been amazing every time I've been! The menu has a great variety of price points and every option is delicious. The drink menu is well thought out as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice after work drink, girls night or nice date. The volume is very well controlled and the servers seem very knowledgeable of the menu. Downtown Lansing has desperately needed a restaurant like this for a long time. Hats off to these guys for coming into a difficult market and doing a good job. It is clear that a lot of energy and creativity went into opening the place, and the food and drinks were solid. I liked the range of the menu. Everything from $12 sandwiches to $50 fillets. My husband read a review about this restaurant and so we decided to try it a week ago. They are known for their meatloaf and their cheesecake. I had both and was not disappointed. So, so, so delicious. I was also very impressed with how well the staff listens because when I couldn't decide on a drink they asked if I would be willing to try a presseco drink they were concocting for their spring menu. The restaurant has more of a metropolitan feel than people in Lansing may be used to. However it's welcomed by me, it's nice to be able to go to a place and get a fine dining experience without having to drive 1 to 3 hours away. I love the duck and the wait staff was very nice and friendly. Bartending is top notch! read more

The "Dirty Fries" are amazing, as was the French fried chicken over polenta. Very cute and welcoming interior, they did a great job with the place. Great wait staff. The Chef even came out to apologize as the food was taking a little longer than anticipated (it was only twenty minutes, no big deal) but gave us some fancy crackers with Brie cheese and cherry sauce as an apology. Not at all necessary, but very appreciated, and shows how small local businesses care about their customers. Will definitely be back soon. read more
