My therapist has been Christina, who I've found to be professional, informative, and friendly to work with. I've had to bring two small children with me to my appointments for therapy--less than ideal! However, all clinicians at Monticello have been so wonderful and helpful with my tiny entourage each time I've had to bring them along. The appointment was to get some high-definition sonogram images of their on to be born baby. When we arrived, Sheri, greeted us warmly and escorted us into a very comfortable room where the procedure would take place. Her business, Visions of Love Ultrasound specializes in 3D/4S Ultrasound images. The room where the procedure takes place has a comfortable bed, shelves with plush animals, and monitors all over so that everyone in the room has a clear view. I was impressed at how patient Sheri was and how she masterfully positions both mother and baby so that she is able to get some amazing shots. Sheri takes her time in order to make sure everyone is comfortable and that she gets images everyone is happy with.

So I came with my infant in a car seat and was told that since I did not bring someone to watch my infant child that I would not be allowed to get an x-ray done. They said their staff would not simply keep eyes on her to make sure someone doesn't steal her! She could sit on the floor, on a counter, in a chair, etc. in their x-ray control room! 1.They do not allow appointments for x-rays. 2.Im exclusively breastfeeding and they are asking me to find a babysitter for an unknown length of time, as there is no telling when they can get me in, during a time of time sensitive feeding for my infant. 3.I called various other imaging centers to see if this is common practice throughout. It is not. In my opinion this is absolutely unacceptable and illogical. This company must be run my men or something...idk! Go to Touchstone, friends!

Front desk lady (very nice) was processing my registration and said there is an issue, she proceeded to go to the back and the Tech came over to discuss. I was told I was not released yet for annual's even though they were the ones calling me to make the appt. Of course I'm upset, because I received non-stop calls to make the appt, I even got a call the day before to reconfirm my appt just to drive all the way there to be told they can't see me because the Ultrasound tech needs to be there. I told the very rude Tech that I don't understand why they kept calling me to make the appt, which she decided to reply with "you knew you had to be back here in March and you didn't, do you have a name of the person who was calling you?" Which I don't but I can show all the calls received from Solis. Then she decided it was a good idea to start discussing out loud my medical records & last year diagnosis, which are confidential and a clear violation of HIPPA laws in the lobby and in front of another patient. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and distraught. How you dare to discuss medical confidential information in front of others??? Who gives this Tech the right to do so? Not even once she acknowledge it was their mistake but she decided to release medical information in front of others?? I stand up and said I was leaving and that I need copy of my medical records so I can go somewhere else!! What a freaking joke! You guys are playing with people's life and think it is okay to share out in public their medical records?

She let me go in and out of the machine to give a "test" run to make sure I could do the tests... she also let my son (23 yrs old) hold my hand and showed him where the emergency escape button was so if I started to panic that he could get me out faster. My doctor prescribed me 3 Xanax to help calm me but those didn't help much..until after the procedure then I fell asleep while he went to get the car...

After 10 minutes, they did do an EKG and one set of vitals, EKG appeared normal. They then proceed to tell her to wait in lobby because, "we are full, I'm sorry". They did nothing else, and after questioning front desk nurse, were not planning on anything either, at least not soon enough. I questioned the RN in front desk because they apparently were not following chest pain protocol. No IV started, no labs drawn. Although she showed normal EKG, she could have still been having a heart attack, thus why labs, IV should have been started right away. We quickly left to another more adept hospital. Do not go to this hospital.

The machines were new and the exam area was clean. The process for transferring wheelchair clients can be further improved for patients saftey. I always recommend gait belts and transfer harnesses for both male and female staff to keep both patients and staff safe for ADA clients, injured clients and the elderly. During the visit the patient asked for the technician to document that they had been squeezed into a small cage for long periods of time due to prolonged torture which caused chronic intractable pain, cervical deviations and hip deviations. Yet, they indicated they would only notate what the doctor input prior to the scan. There are times a patient can only speak in a safe healthcare environment to share more in depth reasons for scans. This extra documentation could save lives of future patients. I hope this message inspires staff patient bedside competence and improves patient lives to aid in specialist diagnoses at Akumin.
