Went here today for the first time for a rainy day spa treat my self kinda day. Here's the pros and cons. Pros: -Cheap ($15 for a reg mani $30 for a pedi and I spent $60 total for a gel mani and a reg pedi) -massage on hands and feet are good -fast Cons: -atmosphere in salon feels "cheap". I don't like that they have PLASTIC WRAP in the water bowls for your pedicure -Have name brand nail polishes like Opi and Essie, but not a wide color selection. Would like to see more color options added, couldn't even find some staple Opi and Essie color selections My manicure and pedicure actually turned out really good. It's affordable. The whole salon smelled like nail polish so bad I almost had a headache when I left. I would go back again if I am in a time crunch, because this is a good quality nail salon to have in the neighborhood. I was excited to find a place to get my nails done in my neighborhood. I liked it a lot at first and have gone back several times. However, after yesterday, I am very frustrated and will not be going back. Every time I go in, I get quoted a different price at the end of whichever service I have asked for. The first time I got my eyebrows waxed, it was $7. The second time I got my eyebrows waxed, it was $10. The first time I got a polish change, it was $8. The second time I got a polish change, it was $10. The first time I got a manicure there, it was $15. The second time I got a manicure, it was $17. When they charged me $17 yesterday for my manicure, I finally mentioned to them that last time it was $15, less than what they were asking me to pay today. The two people near the register looked at each other, spoke to each other in Vietnamese, then one of them responded with "prices went up because rates when up." I like to think I am a fair client and all about trying to give people a chance before going in a different direction but I recently moved to Austin and found this nail salon (Leo) via Instagram. His work looks amazing on IG but unfortunately I have not had a great experience working with him. My nails are done sloppy, the professionalism is terrible and I've grown really irritated and dissatisfied with the service and attitude. It's a huge disappointment because I've tried to bring my concerns to his attention but I have yet to receive a call or text back. Common courtesy and professionalism is all I ask. The owner reached out to me about 3 weeks ago and offered to redo my service free of charge. I was apprehensive (6 months had passed) but willing to take her up on her offer. After texting back and forth, we settled on a time. I showed up and the owner stated she would only do my manicure, but I would have to pay for my pedicure. I turned right around and left. First off, great location and excellent service everybody. I took my girlfriend here a couple days ago and let's just say my girlfriend left with a smile on her face. Everyone knows when it comes to business, customer service is number one and they sure have excellent customer service. Very helpful, patience,and nice people. We had a woman name San. She's the best at what she does, my girlfriend recommends her, but I'm not sure if she's able to fulfill every skill or just a specific thing, but it doesn't hurt to try no matter what if one person isn't able to do it, someone else will satisfy you at this location. I don't know what happened to this place! I used to come for pedis and it was fine- read: closest place that did a good job and wasn't too busy. I came back today with my sister and a girlfriend and it was a very frustrating experience! The man who did my pedi was extremely rough and hurt me at one point - when I said ow, he said it was necessary and then rubbed the dead skin cells on his scraper tool on the top of my foot as if to make a point (gross! -and weird!). After that, he was faking ow noises and talking to the girl doing my friend's pedi while pointing at my feet. It was so weird and very offensive!! He rushed through the whole pedi (which was $32!) and never put a warm cloth on my legs to rest which my friend and sister got. I might have just happened to just get the guy in a terrible mood because my friend and sister were happy with theirs and the girl doing my friends was kind enough to fix the botched toes that the guy had left in place. I tipped her personally and told her how horrible the man doing my pedi was. But overall, all the techs seemed stressed and it was a very negative experience experience! I must preface this with the fact that 1) I am a small business owner, 2) I have been about 6 times because I wanted to give them multiple chances to be fair 3) I live in the neighborhood and wanted to be supportive and like the convenient location and 4) I'm a great tipper no matter what. I have experienced great, mediocre and bad service at this salon. I never know what to expect. Last week I came in for SNS on my fingernails, and the technician rushed through it. It was the shortest manicure I've ever had. She even managed to watch tv throughout. The gentleman, "Frank" working on my pedicure now is doing an excellent job. The thing I have a big problem with every time, which I believe is a deal breaker, is the cleanliness of the salon. For the number of employees who are here, it is always FILTHY! I always see nail clippings in chairs, on the floor, tables etc. The surfaces are filthy and I am 90% certain they reuse tools. Each tech has a caddy they carry with them and they go from station to station. I've never seen a technician open a sealed kit with tools. This is highly alarming to me for obvious reasons. I have been here at peak hours, but mostly I come at times that there are few clients. I'd love to come back but I'm concerned about the level of care the salon puts into sanitation policies and procedures. Took my ex mother in law here after a hot 5k. Was treated very well, although no one offered us drinks or champagne, which I'd rather grown accustomed to at my normal place. Very solid and the pedicures were super friendly and efficient without skimping on the massage part. I have the world's smallest toenails and they managed not to start crying or laugh at me. The woman that was doing my gel manicure didn't appear to really know what she was doing, and was receiving instruction from her spouse because she didn't speak English. She used her own fingernail to scrape/remove the polish from my nails; not a tool. The filing was jagged which caused two nails to break within one day of the manicure. A week later, I needed to have my nails completely redone as the polish was also lifting. My nails looked terrible. I would rather wait a few minutes, instead of paying full price for a gel manicure, with someone that doesn't do a quality job. read more

Before I started going to Envy Nails, I wasn't too persnickety about where I went for nail services. If a salon had a good selection of colors, quality customer service, and maintained a clean, hygienic space, I was all over it. That was before a friend told me about Envy Nails. I wasn't happy with how my previous manicure turned out, and asked her for a recommendation. She praised them endlessly, so I made an appointment and subsequently had my world rocked. In a good way. Envy showed me all of the things I'd been missing at the same price point of my regular salon. They had beverages, hot stone treatments, GREAT service, and a relaxing atmosphere. Suffice it to say, Envy quickly became my go-to spot for nail services. Or at least, it was until today. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure last week after a bit of a break of getting my nails done every other week. I was beyond excited to be back at Envy and to try a gel manicure. If only the staff had been as enthusiastic about it. I watched in envy as the women around me got excellent pedicures. Their techs were generous with the massages and conversation. Mine couldn't have made less of an effort. The tech doing my manicure was a bit better, but even he was a little anemic with the customer service. I brushed it off since I'd come in fairly late, and still tipped like a happy customer. I had pretty nails, and that was all that mattered. I was disappointed when my manicure chipped after less than a week, and I realized that the guy who handled my manicure had left open space on my nails so that I would have to come back sooner than necessary. I wouldn't have thought this was intentional if he hadn't also not used foundation before painting my nails. I chalked it up to a bad session, and still went in today to get them filled. I wasn't sure if Envy provided fills for gel manicures, and my budget is limited this week, so I called and asked. After asking more more than twice, the man on the other end finally told me how much it would cost. I was set, and made my way there. You can imagine my surprise when I arrived and they announced to the entire salon that I'd have to pay for a new manicure since they don't do fills for gel manicures. The guy I'd spoken to turned around and said, "Oh, yeah, you're the one who called earlier" with a big smile on his face. He was clearly amused about the confusion he'd caused, but I wasn't. I told them I'd do it another time, when I really meant that I'd peel the polish off and look for a new salon. I wouldn't have minded paying more for a new set, but I'm not feeling rewarding consistently bad customer service. To start, my nails don't that look bad and that's why I gave 2 and not 1 Star. Sloppy around the edges but not misshapen. I just moved here and the reviews show some really nice nail art. I figured it was close and accepted walk ins, so I went in. The entire experience was very off putting and made me really upset when I left. It was not what I wanted at all. Unbeknownst to me, the nail art on the reviews are only from 2 out of 17 of the nail techs. Something I didn't know when I met my nail tech. Something the manager that sat me down with her should have thought about when she asked to look at my hands when I came in and saw the elaborately decorated set I already had. I'm used to getting and paying for really good work. The tech didn't even have the clear acrylic I explained I wanted and had on my set. My nail tech FaceTimed with a blue tooth ear piece in for half my appt. I realized quickly she was not responding to me and kept randomly speaking in what I believe is Vietnamese. That's when I noticed she had her phone screen with it faced towards her propped up and I could see the video call on the screen. At some point they had a meeting during Friday afternoon services and I'm assuming from her quickly pulling it out and laughing uncontrollably that she was told to take it out at that point. This woman destroyed my long natural nails ripping off my old set. I had initially asked them to be soaked off. I believe there to be a language barrier, despite acting like she understood me, or maybe paying attention to her phone and ignoring me. She insisted on "gently pulling them off". It wasn't gentle. It was sloppy and inconsiderate and half way into it when I kept expressing being upset over my natural nails being ripped off, she acted surprised I wanted to keep my nails and offered to soak them off. I asked for them to be fully sculpted so that I could save as much of my natural nails possible and after her confusingly asking several other people what I was talking about, I was told they don't do that. I had to have my nails cut down completely and the plastics tips applied to all. I was really upset. But, I had no choice but to continue. When it came time for me to tell her what I wanted I realized I wasn't going to be able to get any designs and I chose 3 different chrome acrylic powders instead, consecutively ($10-15 each for the upgrade), none of which she could find. She pulled out a disorganized box of mess and tried to push stuff on me I didn't want in place of the chrome. Told me it was the managers fault for failing to organize them. I chose a purple glittery gel off the sample swatches and was brought red. She was visibly annoyed that I wouldn't just accept the red. Feeling frustrated and defeated, knowing I had to be at work in a few hours and needed to hurry up, I told her just to paint them black. I pride myself on one big thing: I always have amazing nails. They are never plain. I have had amazing works of art that I was happy to pay for. I do it for me. It makes me happy and confident and it's part of my appearance, the main basis of my income. I had to pay $59 for a set of nails and a crappy experience and try to recover my self esteem before I went to work. And that's just because of poor customer service. It threw off my whole mood. If you go there and are happy, Good for you. I won't go back. read more

The tech threw the color wheel for my manicure in my lap and told me to pick a color. I asked her recommendation for a color to match my pedicure and basically she told me that she didn't know. I was excited to try this place. The pedicure was awesome. The guy who made them was very careful and kind. However, my manicure that was a full set of acrylics was terrible, the WORST ever. I have been in different places, from cheapest to expensier but this place is the WORST ever. The guy was very fast he just wanted to finish to attend other costumers. Do not book with Leo. I was a long time client with him, and he stabbed me in the back and made me cry after making an appointment with him, only for him to put me on the back burner. He humiliated me in front of the entire salon and didn't even apologize after he made himself look like a complete idiot. Here's what happened. I made an appointment with you at 2pm it's 2:45 and you're taking someone else that came in after me. Then HE BLOWS UP AND STARTS YELLING AT ME!!! Ok so he blows up on me in front of the whole salon causing a scene. He said you had to get your feet done that's why. Mind you the lady he just finished was paying I was waiting with my toes already done. I told him there was another girl in your chair already that's why you couldn't take me not because of my toes. He yells EXCUSEEEE ME. Excuse me!!! What do you expect me to do!? What do you expect me to do huh!? I said... "DONT OVERBOOK IVE BEEN TRYING TO SET AN APPOINTMENT UP WITH YOU FOR DAYS!!! It's hit and miss at this place because my daughter's nails looked perfectly sleek and hands hydrated; however my person had one foot ready to jump onto the next client so I received half of the service and my manicure took twenty minutes less time than my daughter's. The manicurist didn't put a base or top coat nor did I get a hand massage. What she did do was reuse dirty nail tools out of her tote bag and stick my hands in cold water that had what looked like dried skin floating in it. I tried Envy after receiving a gift certificate for my birthday, but unfortunately, it was an uncomfortable experience. My friend paid $95 for the certificate - $80 service & $15 tip. This was noted on the card, but when I presented certificate for $80 worth of service, an employee argued that tip was not included. He was visibly angry when I did not pay more. Why would I not pay extra, providing a $30 tip? Service was not good. Envy cuts corners by removing regular polish with the nail drill rather than using polish remover. My toes are still sore from this. They did the same with the gel on my finger nails rather than soaking them as other places do. On the second day, my nails look good, but the unfriendly service and methods of completing service are enough to never go back. ---- UPDATE: The gel started peeling from my nails in a week. read more

I was very excited to see a new nail salon opening up close to home, so excited that I went on Saturday for their grand opening. The salon is very nice, the people were friendly, and asked me to come back in 30 minutes because they were so busy which I didn't mind. One of the guys running the salon did my regular pedicure, while another woman did my manicure. They were really slow (I was in the chair for an hour and a half with them working at the same time) and I questioned if they even had their licenses based on the quality of work - neither of them seemed to know quite how to use the cuticle trimmers and it took forever! I wanted to be nice and give them the benefit of the doubt, until they polished my toes and fingers. Streaks, unevenness - the woman commented that it will look different when it dries - which it did not! I honestly do a better job painting my nails at home which is pretty sad when you are paying for a service. I don't know if they were having a bad day, it was busy, but based on my experience I will drive to Great Nails off S. 1st where they always do an amazing job. read more

I would give this place 5 stars entirely for my manicure: solar nail design (see pics). I was lucky to have the awesome Tha work on my nails. He loves what he does and knows what his customer wants. This was my first time coming here and I needed some beautiful nails to cover up my bitten down to the skin personal ones. My wedding is on Saturday so I was anxious that I wouldn't be able to explain what I wanted well enough. Tha took care of me and envisioned what I needed with precision detail. He truly knows what he's doing and I hear people wait for a few hours for him on the weekends. So make an appointment if you are going on a weekend or after 5. The one star off is due to a pedicure. Massage was amazing but the gentleman didn't speak English so I couldn't chat with him like I like to do when I go to salons. Also the nail dryer for shellac wasn't working well and kept turning off and on. Rather than get a new one he just kept messing and hitting this one and made me pull my feet out every other second to do so. I don't know if my nails were as a result of his stress, but my toenail polish is around my skin and missing on some parts where he used his fingernail to clean up too much. On any other occasion I wouldn't mind so much but this is for my own special occasion so I was a bit sad about it. No worries though, Tha made me love my finger nails so much it makes up for my toes. Every single time I came here I felt rushed. I kept coming because it's convenient to where I get my groceries. The last straw was when the nail tech didn't bother to clean up after himself and I had nail polish all over my hands. When I told the person at the counter, he told me just to clean it off myself! Not what I pay $50 for. Do yourself a favor and go to Great Nails right around the corner next to Jamba Juice & Chipotle. I used to always go to Envy nails but I think this last time will be the last time. I had got a mani/pedi, something simply you know? They usually do great with my pedicures, leaving my feet super soft but this time around, it all felt rushed. The guy did my manicure last of course so I paid ahead of time which was a mistake! My manicure was also rushed. He put on a clear coat, two coats of the color and then another coat of the clear polish. I went to sit under the dryer and my nails started to get a LOT of air bubbles. Went in for a shellac manicure and was seated within 10 minutes. They offer you wine or water and make sure you are comfortabe. Lien did my manicure.
