This is really a beer bar and I mean that in the best way possible. They don't brew their own beers but they have lots of local brews on tap or in bottles/cans. The interior is modern and attractive and they've got a cool and comfortable outdoor patio in front. For a parking lot patio, I'm a big fan. The beer selection on draft is excellent and they even offer 3 ounce flights of 4 beers. I love how they support local. They've got some light snacks for sale or you can bring your own grub in. Always my go to stop for some beers in Encinitas. Found this place during Covid, they opened up their windows, had a patio area, and partnered with the taco shop next door so we were able to get tacos and beers. It was perfect and I still do the same routine with the taco shop when I'm in the area. Love how they let you bring food in. Although, if they had some snacks it would be 10/10. The vibes are sporty with lots of sports games blasting on TVs, a rotating list of beers, and chill tap room environment. The bartenders always give the best recommendations. Pass on this place. Go the extra mile west to Encinitas where there are way better options on highway 101 (bars/restaurants). When yo walk in to this place it seems like a great local spot. Good size area, nice bar area and seating, TVs on the walls and a little outdoor space. The biggest annoyance and the reason for me, giving two stars is how they run their business. I've never been to a place that charges you to take a sample sip before you commit to a whole pint. They charge $0.50 just to get a drop in a shot glass and take a sip before you order a full pint. What place does this? It's actually not even the fact they charge which is annoying (and absurd when you're charging $7.50+ for your cheapest pint), it's how the bartender handled it. In what world does a brewery or restaurant charge you to take a sip of a beer before you place your order? Why would I want to commit to a bad tasting pint if I don't have to? Going back to the review, I was looking at two different beers that caught my eye on the menu. I asked the bartender about one of them and he gave me a description that made me think maybe I'll love it or maybe I'll hate it... so I asked for a sip. He politely poured me a sip and then input something on the cash register keypad which I found odd. I asked him if I was being charged for the sip and he rudely said, "yeah man" and pointed his finger at a sign to the left on the counter which said something along the lines of, "sips/tastings $0.50". I replied to the bartender, "wait, I'm being charged for that tiny sip? I've never been charged at any brewery, restaurant or bar for a sip before buying a full pint." He was so rude with his tone and demeanor and just said, "that's standard and normal at most places." BS! I've never seen that before. Just rubs you the wrong way when you are getting nickel and dimed over a $7.50 to $9.00 beer. Regardless, his attitude and the way he just blew me off about the $.50 charge making it sound normal and making me feel like I was out of place is enough for me to not go back. Not to mention I'm glad I did the taste because that beer tasted like garbage. Ended up going with another beer which wasn't much better (I didn't dare do another taste before committing to my full pour and ended up not liking my beer at all). You'd think they would want you to find a beer you like so you come back after an enjoyable experience, but apparently not. Terrible pouring policy. Lot more friendly/accommodating places to try a few beers nearby where they won't tack on a few quarters when you buy some beers. read more

I love this place but holy shit are the to go prices insane. Either that, or I keep getting overcharged... not sure which is worse. Last week paid $90 for two 4 packs (8 pint cans). Today I got a couple cans that I thought were cheaper, and a crowler of a regular IPA. Somehow it came out to $33?!?!?! Even at modern times, with their crazy prices, crowlers are a fraction of that (it'd be $8 there... leaving the cans at $12 each?? holy fucking fuck). My dumbass keeps not looking at the cost until later (just checked online out of curiosity for today's charge). Will have to just stop looking for to go beers there. read more

I think I like this place for it's own special culture. For a backyard strip mall beer bar I feel comfortable that I will find a beer I like due to employees buying good beer. Travis the bartender/beer-purchaser-dude has been consistently pushing different brews from all over the country and I'm stoked to try them out. A perfect thing for me is the fact they don't allow kids ON THE PATIO OR INSIDE OR ANYWHERE (CAPS because I THINK some patrons need to hear the rules). I'm stoked because I don't have to hear the whines or parents playing the parent game like they do/don't do at The Lost Abbey so I can chill and have a brew with adults! We could use some better speakers on the patio, surfing/skate/bmx/moto videos besides sports on every TV and possibly some more beer-ladies besides beer-bros but I'm coming here mainly for the brews so I won't bitch too much. It's a conundrum. We support this local business in spite of the terrible customer service. The beers are fine albeit expensive, it has a great atmosphere, but I've never been to a bar where the owner and the staff seem to be in a battle of who could care less. I mean it is REMARKABLE...disaffected, uninvolved, almost annoyed by the presence of customers; questions are not appreciated and there are more negative signs and rules posted than any place I've seen. A pleasant female bartender who actually made a customer feel good for the duration of a pour would make a killing in tips. Really anyone who made an effort would. A small little beer tasting room nestled between inexpensive restaurants, The Brewers Tap Room offers a pleasant assortment of local and national microbrews at a very reasonable price. Service is friendly and the staff seemed knowledgable. While the view is not much to look at (it is, after all, in a strip mall set on a major thoroughfare), it is pleasant and lively. There is a long bar that faces the parking lot with windows that can be completely opened and several tables out front. Two caveats: 1. BTR does cater to a slightly older crowd, as it is nestled in the heart of residential New Encinitas. While all are welcome, of course, its patrons are generally in a 30+ demographic. 2. They serve no food, which is not entirely uncommon for tasting rooms. But you are welcome to bring in food from any of the surrounding restaurants (Los Tacos [highly recommended], Luna Grill and The Habit are in this particular mall). read more

Have been back here twice since COVID started - once with indoor social distanced seating and once in the outside seating. Whereas I'd love to have more tent/umbrella shade in the parking lot, the key is that the service was great and the beer was cold. Both times I felt generally safe and sound. Good variety of local brews. This is a taste room and they serve different beers each time you go. Reason I gave it two stars is the attitude of the bartender. Guy never smiles and I felt like I was bothering him by asking a few questions about the beer. I even tried a joke to see if he would crack a smile but that didn't work either. I am not a beer drinker, but friends wanted to meet here. So I was dubious. Inside is an industrial vibe with aluminum chairs, low lighting, sports on big TVs, and friendly staff. There is no outdoor space here. They let you have samples before picking your beer. I wish they had hard ciders and apps here. There is no food besides chips, which was an issue. They do have a couple wines, but there are even signs discouraging them... I ended up having an herb beer, which I enjoyed. Background music was good. Plenty of parking. They need some nibbles or a more unique atmosphere to get 5 stars. read more

I enjoyed the wide variety of beers! The service was pretty off. We sat at the bar/counter; I arrived before my friend and was served at me seat. When my friend arrived the bartender never came to take her order. When we called her over she informed us it was "counter service only". I was super confused as we were sitting AT the counter and I was able to order from my seat. So she got up and waited in line which moved slow because the bartender wad socializing with regulars. Our glasses sat empty for 15 minutes, no one ever checked on us. This bar is definitely not in the business of selling beer!! They missed out on the opportunity of another round or two!! We both ordered 1 beer each and left. It was a big letdown! I've never left a brewery with tasting only 1 beer. I am a big fan of giving businesses a 2nd chance when the service is off. But when I outright feel ignored I find it difficult to spend my hard earned money on a 2nd chance. My time is valuable and there are too many other breweries who value every customer, not just their regulars. All regulars start out as a first time guest. read more

Brewers Tap Room is a relatively new beer bar located in a strip mall near Encinitas Ford. The first thing that I liked about Brewers is that you can bring outside food. Its not that I'm not a fan of pub food, it's just that it has a tendency to be overpriced. The beer list is all San Diego brew, with the exception of artifex. The beer list was well rounded, they seem to have about 5 beers of each style. The best part? Brewers had some very rare beers on tap that you don't see everyday! I highly recommend this place. It's good for tourists and locals alike. For tourists, it's a good place to get an introduction to the San Diego brewing scene.
