Enzzo's is my absolute favorite restaurant. Located in downtown Short Hills, it is a couple of miles from the Paper Mill and perfect for a pre-show dinner. Perri is terrific -- welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. And the food is wonderful. Traditional Italian, absolutely delicious. It is a BYOB, so the prices are reasonable. I love fish, and Enzzo's is the best for that. I keep meaning to try the chicken dishes, but I'm usually too tempted by the Sea Bass or Salmon. You know the saying 'I've never had a bad meal here?' I've never had a good meal at Enzzo's; they've all been great. read more

A wonderful neighborhood Italian place with authentic homemade Italian food. The owners are incredibly kind and friendly, and service is amazing. Usually it's not crazy busy so you should be able to walk in and grab a table, but would call ahead if you have a larger party to accommodate. They have a few specials available for eating. Would recommend the burrata salad which came with beets and artichokes as well as the garlic shrimp. For the main meals, any of the pastas were fabulous along with the veal. There is bread to share for the table. They have both outdoor and indoor seating and although the decor is a bit outdated, the food and charm of the owners makes it a great neighborhood place to stop by in. read more

Went here recently for a party. Staff was very nice and attentive. Made sure we always had water and bread on table. It's a BYOB and a small bar was set up by the hosts. Salads were served and they were fine. Mains just weren't that good. A chicken Murphy dish that was very soupy. A pasta fish and a very bland shrimp dish. Last night went with my daughter, sat in the Al fresco outdoor dining area and had the most delicious pizza - so fresh & delicious. Simple fresh ingredients and result was mouthwatering! I have been coming to Enzzo's for many years. The food is fantastic. The service has always been top notch. The Owners are the nicest people. I had not been in for a while yet when I walked in was greeted warmly by the owner who even though I was masked recognized me and asked about my Daughter's. We ordered Take out and we were not disappointed. I ordered a pizza with Sausage and Spinach, which was so satisfying. My Wife and Daughter ordered chicken and pasta entrees (I can't remember which one) and they were very pleased with them. I also highly recommend the Farfalle Capone. One of my favorite dishes here. In these days of Restaurants suffering I can think of no place more deserving of community support then Enzzo's. I look forward to being able to dine inside again as I had so. often in the past. Everyone who comes here seem to be regulars. We walked in with a reservation, and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Throughout our visit, three more tables filled up, with obviously frequent visitors, and although we were here first we were always thr last to be attended to. However the servers were very personable and willing to help if we needed it. My family ordered from the specials mnu and were very pleased, the best out of our order being the eggplant lasagna in a vodka sauce with melted mozzarella on top. I was the only one who ordered from the standard menu and I was very dissappointed. The sauce was a marinara sauce and it was EXTREMELY watery, I was so worried it was going to stain my white shirt all night, and the shrimp it came woth tasted shrimp-y, similar to when I buy frozen shrimp at the supermarket. read more

I wish I could give 5 plus stars to Enzzo's Trattoria! We held a baby shower for my daughter this past Saturday - and it was a great success, due to Perri and the rest of Enzzo's staff.. Perri suggested the menu, punch, dessert and followed up a few days before to confirm our head count, menu and details. Perri and Peter made sure our glasses were filled, the various courses were served and we had everything we needed. Perri is an absolute delight to work with - nothing is a problem for her; they are very accommodating. And Perri was a great help advising when to do the games, gift opening, etc between the food courses. I can't say enough about how wonderful the day was, all due to Perri, Peter and, of course, Vincenzo who provided the fabulous food! read more

An exceptional experience. Small and personal, with a lot of personality and atmosphere. The food is superb - I mean everything. It's a real local family business, very friendly, relaxing music, a real treat. This was our second time there on Valentine's Day and we had a great time. We parked in front but I think they have parking in the back. It's BYOB so you need to pick up your wine first because the liquor store is a short drive away. This is a small, family run restaurant with delicious Italian food. Located on Millburn ave before the town, it's a BYOB with a convenient parking lot in the back. We love their salads, especially the one served over flatbread. Our favorite appy is a smaller portion of the pasta carbonara (which they can also make gf with rice based linguine, or corn based penne pasta). This is a must get, made with bacon and no peas. Entrees are all good. We have had the lasagna, shrimp fra Diablo, chicken Murphy, chicken parm, chicken saltimbocca...yum. these are served with penne and fresh spinach. Glad to see they are still open. Went there while in town a few years ago for a wedding. What a great find. We had a large party and I think they let us take over the back part of the restaurant. "Making you feel like family" may be an over-used expression but they really did. The food was excellent but their service was over-the-top. If you enjoy wine with your meal, the BYOB is a real money-saver and there was an excellent wine store nearby. My best to the family and hope they continue for many years to come. read more

Great BYOB with good home food and friendly owners. We started with a couple of drinks we brought with us and then ordered many appetizers (pizza, mussels, grilled salad and garlic shrimp). These were all good but took almost an hour to come out. We then ordered some pasta, steak and seafood entrees which all were really good. Again it took more than an hour again. As we had good company and friends we did not mind the wait but Else this would be really annoying. We will be back but knowing the long wait, we will order all upfront. read more

Enzzo's is entirely understaffed. There were 3 ladies serving the entire restaurant on a Saturday night, who were nice but couldn't handle it all. The hostess mentioned there might be a wait even though we called ahead, and we confusedly stared at empty tables that they took forever to clear. Once we were seated, it took about 30 minutes to receive glasses for our BYOB items. It literally took 2 hours for our entrees to come out because they were "really busy." They didn't even reach maximum capacity. We saw many other diners waiting for food or the check. They need more servers and more in the kitchen too. The food itself is pretty good. To start we had the artichoke and eggplant, then a variety of Parmigiana and Sorrentino dishes. The meat was cooked well and flavorful. However, my fiancé asked for a vegetable replacement for the pasta, and the dish came with about 5 leaves of spinach. Only come here if you have a LOT of time and want to build up your appetite. Ummmm.....I was in the Twilight Zone at this place. We first didn't even know that this place was open when we drove past. We called the phone number ( during business hours) and were told that yes they were open. When we walked in the lights were off. Ok? They stayed off the whole meal? Hmmm....if we were not sooo hungry from driving all day we would have left. Granted it was about 4pm and an odd time to eat dinner, but we had not had lunch. The waitress was nice and took our order. When she dropped our meals at the table, we saw her walk out the front door with her purse. She returned about ten minutes later with a shopping bag. Hmmm.... needed a refill on my drink, but ok. Now, the food part comes. The waitress stated their Penne Vodka and Bruschetta were the best around. Had high hopes, but both dishes fell flat. Real flat. The dishes came out of the kitchen piping hot, but the sauce tasted like a jar of Ragu. The soda was as flat as my hopes and the bread was as dry as croutons. Glad we live near Chicago, because if we really liked this place it would have been a long drive. I would not recommend this place. I absolutely love this place! Last weekend was my first time at Enzzo's. I was looking for a party room for my birthday (15-20 people) & was referred to Enzzo's. I had a lot of options, but once I went there to check out the space & meet the staff, I fell in love! The private room brings me right back to Italy. I really don't know where to start... The food was excellent!.. we had a family style meal that included; bread, 3 apps & 3 dinner entrees, (all came out by a few hefty platefuls), sodas, & coffee. Also, the food was authentic Italian cooked like from grandmas kitchen. We can't forget the amazing and fresh Tiramisu Cake they also helped us in ordering. Plus it's a BYOB! The service was such a pleasure! Perry was so helpful & made the experience such a breeze! Also, they were so accommodating especially because we had the table set for 20 people & 15 showed (thanks friends, but it's your loss in missing out on a good meal! ;). Delectable lunch! Pasta vongole had a depth of flavor that I hadn't experienced before and their special pumpkin ravioli was amazing, so perfect for the fall. Enzzo's did not start the night out right for us. But, they made up for it at the end. We arrived and were standing at the front door without anyone greeting us for what seemed to be about 3-4 minutes. When they finally saw us, they told us that we would have to wait another 2 minutes. About 10 minutes later, and after thinking that we should leave, they seated us. As soon as we were seated, they gave us some bread. The wife ordered the Linguine con Vongole, and the daughter ordered the pizza. When our food arrived, we were amazed by the big portions. Since we were already full from eating too many cookies at the hotel, we didn't eat much. The food was good too. Both the server and Perri, the owner were very friendly during dinner. They spoke to us frequently, making sure that everything was okay. At the end of diiner, they gave us a tiramisu because we were tourists! It was very nice of them. That made up for the rough beginning. Sadly, since we live on the west coast, we won't be back. read more

The Millburn-Short Hills area has a lot of nice Italian spots to pick from, but this is my favorite. The staff is always so nice and they make you feel personal and right at home. And it's BYOB and not in the heart of town which makes parking easier and you don't feel as cramped while eating. The portions are big enough that you always have leftovers the next day. There is a great outdoor area for eating during the summer. The main area is that perfect mix between fancy and casual, and there is also a nice back area if you want to feel more private. My girlfriend and I have been there many times and have yet to have a bad meal, she has been there a couple more times than me and she loves to tell me the story about how one time she and some friends ate there and despite it being crowded, practically every member of the staff would come by and have a personal conversation with them. read more

Saw a guy come in from the street and ask for something cold to drink. The server/ owner handed him a 12 oz can of Pepsi and he left..... and this unfolded in front of me right after I asked the same server for a soda in a can but was told they dont carry cans. She said I could have a fountain soda with my dinner instead...lies...fake news... First of all, when is soda from the fountain better than a can?? It is almost always never as good and probably has a million germs as studies have shown. So my second issue is, why would a stranger from the street, who is not ordering any food, get something that I was told they did not have? I got some lame excuse and was hardly given any service after that. I would never come here again even with a 10 ft pole. read more

Would not recommend this restaurant, most especially if you are in a group. Came here with a reservation on a Friday night at 7:30 for 14 people and didn't leave until nearly 10pm. The maitre d' who we were told was going to "take care of us" didn't take our orders until 30 minutes into our dinner (which was then when we received our complimentary bread), that was also the only time she came to check on us. Our appetizers then took almost another hour, and entrees about 15-20 minutes after that. I understand we were a large group, but almost an hour and a half for food is excessive. We followed up on our orders multiple times to which we were constantly told "it should be out in a few minutes," we were also told our apps and entrees would come out together (they did not). The appetizers we ordered weren't even anything crazy (bruschetta and tiny meatballs) which I feel like should have taken 30 minutes max to get to our table. When I finally grabbed a hold of our maitre d' to follow up on our food, she assured me the food would be out momentarily (which in her defense it was) but I did not appreciate how she tried to shift the blame by saying "well I told you when you made the reservation that it would take a while because you're a large group." (Is an hour and a half for food the usual wait time for groups at this restaurant?) I will say there were two gentlemen who were nice about the delay but the maitre d' I feel could have been more apologetic; she was supposed to be "taking care of us" and yet we never saw her. As for the food, the appetizers were decent but entrees were just ok. We didn't order dessert but I definitely saw waiters opening food from plastic wrappers (looked like some kind of chocolate ball), microwaving them, and then serving them. Unfortunately tip was included in our bill so we couldn't do anything about that; it was definitely not deserved. Due to the Caronavirus shelter in place order we are unable to enjoy Enzzo's hospitality but fortunately they are taking orders for pick up. My wife and I recently enjoyed that availability. I had the rigatoni in vodka sauce with shrimp and my wife had a penne with sausage, white beans and broccoli rabe in a special sauce and my step son had Gambretto Bellissimo, (shrimp scampi). We shared an appetizer, Gambretto Con Aglio, Chef Enzo sautés shrimp in garlic sauce served on focaccia. All of our meals were outstanding. I hope many people will use this pick up service at Enzzo's since I'm sure Enzzo's, like many other small businesses, is taking a financial hit due to this shut down. We would hate to see this terrific restaurant not survive the virus. Please help to keep them in business order from them and enjoy a fabulous meal as well as helping a local business stay in business. read more

As a party of 7 looking for an outdoor table during COVID, we were in major luck and found a reservation in just 15 minutes on a busy Saturday night in Millburn/Short Hills! The waitstaff was so accommodating and communicative and this was an epic, luxurious meal for very reasonable prices! We shared appetizers-- succulent meatballs, fresh garlicky broccoli rabe, and a delicious house bruschetta that surprised me with its complexity and freshness! We ordered lots of different house pastas (including a divine special, pumpkin ravioli) and everything was extremely delicious, cooked to order, and made with love! Given it was COVID and they were busy, we didn't mind the slow pace of the meal-- it was heavenly and relaxing and the servers were so sweet and attentive throughout! BYOB helped and we had so much fun together. The crown jewel was Enzzo's mother's tiramisu-- now that I've slept on it, I can definitely say, THAT WAS THE BEST TIRAMISU I'VE EVER HAD! Enzzo's has done it again. They produced a fantastic wedding shower for our bride to be. The best thing about Enzzo's is naturally the food, but the ambiance and intimate setting is warm and loving.
