When walking in it felt like a downtown pizzeria but there is a spacious back room. This BYOB is really good, good service, good food and really good prices. Fresh soups made to order according to the menu are large and very tasty. Salads are big enough to share, our server knew to split without asking. Most dinners do have a dinner salad available for $2.99 extra. Mains are terrific and big, we all couldn't finish. read more

Gian Marco looks like your average slice and sauce spot, but past the pizza counter in front, there's a quiet, warmly lit dining room nestled in back. The tables are dressed with white tablecloths, but the vibe is welcoming and casual. Our server was prompt and professional. You get warm focaccia and an oil-and-pesto dipping sauce upon being seated. Our group shared a bunch of dishes, and our waiter was very accommodating. The food was phenomenal. The stuffed artichoke had a brown gravy on it, unusual but good. It was well cooked overall but the choke itself was ever so slightly underdone (I like it more tender though it was cooked, not saying it wasn't). The vodka rigatoni was divine. The chicken cacciatore tasted just like gramma used to make, except that hers cooked down all day so that the peppers and aromatics disintegrated. The shrimp parmesan with capellini was delicious. Finally, the tartufo was the perfect finish and was somehow a lighter option to share for dessert, maybe bc of the poofs of airy whipped cream. Really nothing bad to say here! BYOB. Had a 4:30 reservation and it was not at all busy. We waited for over 10 minutes without being welcomed to a table when we could see the empty table from the door. 2 hostesses counted the chairs multiple times but never asked us in. Then they put menus at the table but never invited us in. When asked why we weren't welcomed to the table, one hostess then said they couldn't seat us because they were "missing a menu." I told her didn't need the menu that we just wanted to sit because we had my elderly mother with us and we had a reservation. Then she turned around and went back to the table to count the chairs again without asking us to have a seat. We left. Unacceptable way to treat paying customers. Teach your employees basic manners. I must say in the past I've been middle of the road on this place, but a couple of nights ago we had a great meal. First of all it's a BYOB which helps keep the bill down. The service is always great. This night my wife got the pounded veal chop parmigiana which she said was amazing and I got the ossobucco special which was delicious and a great value at $25. What a great place for good Italian food! My brother just moved to millburn and is exploring places to eat. We got takeout because of elderly and toddlers in the family. Everything was delicious probably would have been even better if we have eaten at the restaurant. The chicken parm was still super hot at least 30 mins from after we picked up and it was tasty and tender. All of the pasta dishes were excellent even my picky toddler asked for more. Service was great despite being such a busy restaurant. Would definitely go back again and perhaps dine in next time. The dinning area seems nice also. read more

This place is a great choice for casual Italian-American food. The pizza is underrated...you'll never see it on the lists of "best in the area" and, far as I know, it has not been "rated" by that Jackass that everyone thinks is an expert all of a sudden. But it is consistently well seasoned and the crust, a bit soft for some, is for me delightfully chewy (not raw) and subtly well-flavored. They have not bought into the "artisan" thing and keep it simple. Love it. Here is one place ---- so surprisingly and inexplicably rare in North Jersey----that knows from good eggplant parmigiana. As in Italy, they do not bury it in fried breadcrumbs or overdo the seasoning. My go to here....sauce is light, fresh tasting and complements the dish. I'd keep it simple ..... don't recommend going with the more complicated dishes (but that's just me; my wife does and she loves them, especially the Francaise.) Recommended with enthusiasm----would add a half star if that were an option read more

Haven't seen the location but I will try to one day. They accept cards which is weird not too nowadays. But there are a few places around here that don't. My wife and I have been ordering in from Gian Marco Trattoria for the better part of a decade! It is our go-to place for pizza delivery, and we have always found their pizza to be fresh, hot, and delicious. Other favorites include calamari fritti, chicken cutlet parmigiana (sub or entree), penne arrabiata (genuinely spicy!), pasta with homemade meatballs, and shrimp fra diavolo (also spicy!). I recently had the pleasure of dining in at the restaurant, and had a nice experience. The dining room is quiet, tastefully decorated (cloth tablecloths, subdued lighting) and comfortable, and the tables are well spaced. The service is friendly and attentive, and the staff seem happy to be there. It's BYOB, which is nice too. read more

We have been to this establishment so many times have done. Takeout have eaten outside. Everything is always done to perfection. I am so happy that we found this place. I recommend it to everybody now we have had their pizza other appetizers their dinners everything is plentiful and you will definitely go home with a doggy bag. The portions are big. The Pollo Stefanie was delicious and the waiter gave expert descriptions and recommendations for others dishes too. The staff was very attentive and friendly, yet still respectful not to hover. The restaurant was full of guests, yet, food and drinks still came out quickly. The menu clearly had gluten free dishes marked with a 'gf''. However, it's important to know these items are not all actually gluten free. Instead, they can be prepared to be gluten free. So, it's important to let the staff know dietary restrictions. Fantastic experience across the board! A few friends and I decided to visit this place after a 6 hour hike conquering the South Mountain Reservation, so we had worked up quite the appettite. Eating here was a pure gem. I don't even know how La Strada is still in business. The music playlist was awesome, with 70s/80s rock classics like queen and the beatles and famous movie songs like kung fu fighting. The ambiance was excellent, serving was sublime, the food was incredibly delicious (came quickly and was remarkably affordable!) It's rare for a restaurant to feature every single one of these perks. Extraordinary! We ordered the meat & cheese Lasagna and it was delicious! It actually had a light taste about it, not heavy. The sauce, meat and cheese was a wonderful blend. The sauce was tasty but not too much and not too little. It was gooey stretchy cheese and went down like my momma never made. Six of us ate from 1/2 a tray, had seconds and still had 2 pieces leftover. We asked for bread with this order and the rolls were fresh, warm and tasty. Everyone wanted to know where we ordered from. The chicken noodle soup came out boiling hot (I love boiling hot soup) and the pasta was al dente. It really hit the spot. The bread is just like my grandma used to make, soft with tomatoes on top. They serve the bread with a delicious olive oil pesto on the side. That could have been my meal.... I proceeded with the rigatoni a la vodka with was cooked to perfection! Just the right amount of cream & tomatoes. The rigatoni had a wonderful bite to it and the peas were sweet and firm. Next time I'll save room for tiramisu! Winner winner!!! A solid, small-town pizza joint. Pizzas are good, though the crust is a little thicker than I typically like. Sauce and cheese are good quality, and the grandma pie is the best around.
