The truck was at my office today. I ordered the Surf and Turf burrito. It took over a half hour to order and get my food. It is $10 + tax. It was small. When I brought it up to my desk there was no surf. (shrimp). It was pollo asada and carne asada. They didn't ask what meat I wanted. I was expecting a carne asada and shrimp burrito. It is dry with a little bit of flavor. If I had time to exchange it for the correct order I would have. Never again. read more

I haven't had the food yet but I saw a wonderful display of human kindness from the Epic Eatz guy. From my office on the 10th floor, I saw an old man with a walker just fall down in the crosswalk here in the UTC area. The driver of the Epic Eatz also saw it and quickly stopped his truck, jumped out and was the first one there to help the man up to safety. Luckily the driver is a big guy and he was able to lift the old man up, who is also a big guy. Epic Eatz guy got the old man safely to the curb where other bystanders were there to assist. After making sure the old man was in good hands, he realized his truck was blocking traffic hopped back in the truck and went on his way to feed hungry people like it wasn't his first life saving rodeo. The driver must be some kind of food truck superman... there to save the day, help the elderly or feed your hungry belly. Good work Epic Eatz guy!!! read more

Went to Bates Nut Farm last weekend and was stoked to see them here! My husband and I ordered the Cali fries. We waited at least 25 minutes. The fries were super small, there was no guacamole and the cheese was cold and not melted at all. Are you serious?? Definitely not worth the price or the waiting at all. They came to a community gathering last night in Fallbrook. I got the epic nachos and they were anything but "epic". I don't do cilantro so the nachos were exceptionally boring. It was meat, cheese and sour cream. AND THE CHEESE WAS NOT EVEN MELTED!! Could have let that slide if they tasted good, I mean who doesn't like cheese even when cold. No salsa, queso, beans, guac or anything to jazz it up. And all of this crap for $10. Will definitely never eat their food again. I can make better nachos at home in the microwave. I gave them 2 stars because my husband got the 3 meat quesadilla and said it was pretty good. He at least got melted cheese. I also got the veggie bowl for my kids and it was just meh. First off I want to say I've had Epic Eatz multiple times. After having a whole host of their food, I can honestly say I feel like my life was missing something before I had it. I know FUSION is a cliche word in the foodie realm today, but John's food truly is a fusion of well-balanced exotic foods, spices, textures, etc. Nobody is doing what John is and I applaud him 10 times over for his creativity, ingenuity, and FREAKISHLY amazing food. My favorites: Wahoo Spicy and Crab Torta. A perfect blend of amazing textures. The battered Wahoo fish, melt in your mouth crab, fresh avocado, and cabbage work in perfect concert with the asian inspired sauce. The flavors evolve as you eat it. I've had nothing like it. Simply amazing. Second favorite: Sweet and Sour fish burrito. Not sure if this is on the menu right now, but John made it for me once and for a second I thought I found a new favorite. But the Wahoo torta is just too good. But the sweet and sour fish burrito comes in a close second. Other notable mentions. San Diego Cheese Steak. Really good. Especially if you love avocado. The best part of it is how affordable all of it is. Especially when you consider at most food places your paying gratuity on top of the food. We were at the May time parade in National city today. Of the 4 vendors, they had reasonable prices. Most everything on menu was $10. Still lower than the $104 Bbq truck. Ordered a quesadilla and surf and turf burrito. Quesadilla was average. Surf and truffles burrito was not correct. Surf and turf is shrimp and BEEF, not the chicken that was in ours. I first met John at California Fruit Wine Co. He is a really cool guy and a fantastic chef! I was blown away with his menu. Crab & Wahoo Tortas! Kahlua Pig Tacos! OMG! I have tried everything on the menu and I am very impressed. It is all good! His cook Fernando does a great job! John really goes out of his way to make sure he uses the freshest ingredients for everything and you can tell by the quality and taste of the food. It is excellent! Prices are very affordable too. If you see his truck around town give it try. You will be happy you did. read more

Holy Food Truck Fusion Batman! The name of this gourmet on wheels is not boastful by any means. Epic Eatz is a suitable nom du voyage. On my weekly Tasty Truck Tuesday excursion, I was delighted to see the offings on this truck's menu board. Having been spoiled by such mobile eateries as Kogi and Don Chow during my imprisonment..er... I mean, brief stint in the city of Angles, I have been hard pressed to find another fusion truck of the Asian persuasion to satisfy my critical (yeah right) palate. I ordered the teriyaki yaki and Kalua pig tacos. Both were on point. All though I'm sure my Kalua pig was not slow roasted in an Imu, this pork was melt in your mouth delicious and perfectly seasoned. My Yaki taco was equally as satisfying with great japanese inspired flavors. Yet another truck I need to add to my Twitter feed. read more

Today at lunch we had a surprise food truck at work so I was really excited. I checked out Epic Eatz menu and knew I wanted to try the Cheesesteak right away. It was really warm out and I was going to have to walk up a hill to our 2nd building to get a taste of the food. I ordered my food and waited a little bit to get it. I took the first bite of the cheesesteak and fell in love. The bread was nice and toasty and the meat was cooked just right with the cheese melted on it. It was delicious and a big serving so I was only able to eat half of it during lunch and decided to eat the rest later. The walk up the hill was worth it and I will be stalking this food truck to get one of these again soon... read more

I love Epic Eatz. My favorite is a tie between the spinach salad and the crab sandwich. I consider myself addicted to seafood. My dad is a commercial fisherman. I have had the best and the freshest on earth. The lomi lomi tacos are delish and the ceviche is worth stalking Epic Eatz for lunch. With an amazing selection of great food all I can say is eat! I love the fish taco, and pretty much everything else I have tried on the menu. They used to do events at BMW of Vista which were really fun. I think food trucks offer a great variety of high quality food. Epic Eatz doesn't disappoint and if the only one star review is for their driving, "Ken C.", then I guess it's fair to say you should get down if you see their truck parking in a location near you. read more

Everything is cold, cold cold, do they not cook it as you order it? Maybe just take forever to piece it together. Had food from this truck twice at Oceanside Ale Works and was disappointed. We always give second chances before we post ratings. The first one was a burrito with white rice and chopped up chicken. Forgettable. Yesterday we paid 8 dollars for nachos that was awful. It had a glob of sickeningly sweet pork and what seemed like cottage cheese. The salsa seemed like it sat for days already because the tomatoes were translucent. We ate the chips and threw the meat away. I will probably never eat from this truck again, even if the food was free. What a waste of 8 bucks. Worst Chicken Burrito (Anchote) I have ever had! Runny inside with small, fatty, thigh pieces. The tortilla was good but looks like they flat stove grilled the burrito on a dirty grill top. Went to a wine bar with a few friends and we were happily surprised to see Epic Eatz there which I had been wanting to try! We got an order of the ceviche, a pork taco and a teriyaki taco; they were all absolutely delicious! The ceviche was great because it wasn't just a traditional ceviche and it was paired with a lime and an orange. The tacos were very delicious as well. I tried Epic Eatz for the first time about three months ago and fell in love with the Spicy Crab & Crispy Wahoo Torta. Literally to die for. Never had anything like it. A close second for me is the Sweet-n-Sour Yellowtail Fish Taco. Also amazing. The sweet-n-sour glaze compliments the fish in a way you would never imagine. Service on the truck is great. Dewey, the chef, is a friendly guy. On my second visit he remembered my name. I found that impressive as they were very busy on my first visit. I enjoy their food so much that I always over buy and take food home for later. Dewey is nice enough to wrap this up for me 'to go'. I have had the pleasure of meeting the owner as well, John. He is a great guy, very passionate about his menu. I have followed this truck to several locations. They frequent Breweries which is fun. Amazing food with some fresh brews and often live music on the weekend evenings. Definitely a good time. Overall (if it wasn't already obvious) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Epic Eatz. Incredible food at reasonable prices. I am confused by some of the few negative reviews complaining about wait times. Really? This is freshly made people!
