DECEPTIVE SALES TACTICS AND CONSUMER INTIMIDATION Do not…read moretrust this dealer's verbal promises. They use "Signing Fatigue" and misleading sales tactics to defraud customers. 1. The Bait and Switch: During the purchase of my 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300, the Finance Manager aggressively pushed a $3,000 NVP Warranty. I was explicitly told it was "Bumper-to-Bumper" and covered the entire engine. This was a lie. They rushed me through a massive stack of digital documents, hiding the fact that they were actually selling me a highly restricted plan. 2. Failure to Honor Commitments: When the car suffered major PCV and LED failures (P052E), NVP denied the claim because of how the dealer registered the contract. The dealer now hides behind "AS-IS" clauses to avoid responsibility for their verbal misrepresentations. 3. Legal Intimidation: Instead of acting in good faith to resolve the $3,000 fraud, this dealer had their In-House Counsel send me a "Cease and Desist" letter to intimidate me into silence. They would rather pay a lawyer to bully a customer than honor their sales promises. I have officially filed formal complaints with the Virginia Attorney General (OAG), the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board (MVDB), and the SCC. I am seeking a full refund and a state investigation into their business license. If you value your money and your rights, buy your car elsewhere.

Let me offer a little financial education wrapped inside a story and review because what happened…read moreat Capital Auto Sales was a masterclass in "Buyer Beware 101." We looked at a used 2011 Audi with low miles that was labeled a "Great Value" online via CarFax. Fun fact: those platforms base their ratings on local market listings, not true vehicle valuation. Translation: if ten dealerships all overprice their cars, the least overpriced one magically becomes a "Great Deal." It is basically the best of the worst award. The salesman seemed friendly enough at first until he learned we had our own financing. Suddenly he avoided eye contact like the truth was physically painful. Those were absolutely not the words he wanted to hear. And that is when the "FUN" math party started. Most credit unions follow a 125 percent loan-to-value rule which means they will only finance up to about 125 percent of a car's real verified worth so you do not end up deeply upside down the moment you sign. When our lender pulled the actual numbers using industry standard data, the car's true value came back at about $11k. Not the sticker price. Not the market hype. The real valuation. So a car worth $11k has a maximum safe loan amount somewhere around $13,700 total. This includes tax, title, license, and fees. That is the cap. Period. Capital Auto Sales, however, wanted us to pay several thousand dollars more than that...and was bold enough to ask us to put money down to pay for their markups. GASP...THE NERVE! When our credit union refused to fund the inflated price, the salesman suddenly rolled out an entire menu of preferred lenders who would be thrilled to help us overpay. You know the type. The ones that would probably finance a cardboard box with wheels if the dealership slapped on a protection package and called it "premium." Yes. Those. At that point the math was mathing. Once you know the real value of a car, agreeing to pay way above that would be financially irresponsible. No amount of awkward explanations or other lenders could change basic arithmetic. To make matters even more entertaining, they also tried to slip in junk fees and a questionable "APEX Protect" package which was really just an aftermarket tracker for their benefit...disguised as a necessity. None of it added value. All of it added cost. This is not business. This is bad business. Buyer Beware truly applies here. Capital Auto Sales relies on customers not understanding loan to value rules, true vehicle valuations, or the tactics dealers use to mask inflated pricing. If you shop here, go in with your eyes wide open. Better yet, go somewhere with ethical practices and transparent pricing. Protect your wallet before their deals empty it. We walked away educated, not defeated. And if this review helps someone else avoid overpaying by thousands, then sharing it was absolutely worth it.

He did it again when I came back several months later while he was training another associate. He also knew about some of the other companies' models I was also in the process of test driving. He made the paperwork part he could take care of very easy as well. I also like that he was always working each time I came in. Lots of other people were milling around or chatting. I will send everyone I know looking for a Honda his way for sure. For oil changes you can just show up but expect a 2.5-3 hour wait during the week. They recommended a service a little earlier than I have read online, but the timing would've been ahead of my next oil change. So, it's understandable. Sundays are the lightest days according to them. I'll update if I do a service on a Sunday.

I had a very disappointing experience with Honda of Chantilly…read more I was in contact with a salesperson named George for quite some time, and he provided me with specific details about pricing, monthly payment, trade-in value, and terms. Based on those conversations, I drove about an hour to the dealership, trusting that the information I received was accurate. When I arrived, George was not available, and another representative assisted me. To my surprise, the numbers presented were completely different from what had been discussed. The monthly payment was significantly higher, and none of the agreed terms matched our messages. I felt misled and that my time was not respected. I made the trip based on clear promises that were simply not honored. Because of this experience, I decided not to do business with this dealership and ended up purchasing my vehicle from another Honda location that was transparent and consistent from the beginning. I would not recommend this dealership based on my experience.
