Lost $600.00 Went here hoping to get a used car. Seemed great at first, had lots of nice looking cars, but as I soon found out, they were only nice looking. Purchased a vehicle. After getting in vehicle to drive off lot, realized tire pressure light was on. Owner told me that his light is on in his own car and not to worry about it. Even though that was another sign of bad business, I didn't dispute. I was happy to get car then because it wasn't ready when I was initially supposed to pick it up. I paid 2000 for the down payment and was also told I needed 500 dollars more down in two weeks. The owner also told me he would throw in a 3 month warranty. So I left. Got car for day, by Monday the brakes were so worn and grinding, I had to bring car back. I also noticed the charging station light never came off even when car wasn't on. They assured me I had nothing to worry about. Welp by that Wednesday the car died on me in the middle of the street. I had to take an Uber for the next couple days as the owner began not answering phone calls and text messages. Brought it to them and they put a new battery in it. Shouldn't these things be done before we buy the car?. But after we picked up car again, the car died out on me again. I took it to auto zone to get proper reading and was told from owner that parts just go out randomly on cars at any time!? Finally got car started and brought back to them as the company has no tow truck and realized that the car yet again stopped on me. This time at my aunts funeral. I asked owner for another car. He told me that they would lose taxes. So the answer was no. This whole problem was so embarrassing as everyone knew I had a new car and was now asking where did I purchase because of all the problems we were having with it. And this was all before two weeks. Finally I got owner to agree to just refund my deposit and he did. Under lemon laws in Illinois he had no legal right not to give me my money back. He gave me 1200 back excluding his 'tax' and when I brought car back went outside to pull out starter plug and video tape himself putting it back in. ! I couldn't believe it!! ! Now I'm left deciding if the 600 dollar loss is worth suing over! Finally read the reviews on this business and I don't even believe the good reviews are even real. Horrible deceitful place! I bought a car from Epic & unfortunately did not immediately take it to a mechanic. The tire pressure gauge was lit & salesman said I just needed to get tire pressure checked. Turns out the gauge is bad ($200 to replace).The ires were bad ( dry rot). When I took it to get new tires, there was no wheel lock key in the bag by the jack. Had to take it to a Toyota dealer to get lug nuts off & replace with keyless lug nuts. The dealer did a 40 point inspection & recommended new brakes, front & back, replace power steering fluid ( leaking) & replace back struts ( both cracked). You can't trust a dealership who doesn't keep a promise. Easy Kinsch is the basic used car salesman. Made me drive an hour and a half to an appointment at 2 pm, with two kids that's no easy task. They allegedly sold the car 5 minutes before I got there. Allegedly. Classic bait and switch where they promise you one then try and upsell you another. Epic fail. Dealership is sloppy at best, sneaky at worst. This morning I arranged to see a particular car--and later that afternoon I hopped in an Uber to get up to Rosemont from downtown. I'd asked the co-owner to text or call me if anything came up so I wouldn't waste the trip. I ping them en route, and 10 minutes later get the text telling me that another potential customer had showed up and had the car sent offsite to their mechanic for an inspection, and would I like to reschedule in case they didn't buy it? On the phone, live, he admitted he'd forgotten to put my appointment in the schedule. The pros: beautiful sunny day, funny Uber driver and an afternoon off work. The cons: a missed afternoon of work, wasted Uber money, and no car. Viewed charitably, this dealership is sloppy and not detail oriented. Viewed less charitably this is one of the oldest shady dealer tricks in the business. Your car is suddenly no longer available but let's have you look at these others... BUYER BEWARE! I did my homework, ran carfax, one owner car, lower mileage. Bought on January 29, 2019. February 5, 2019 check engine light came on, I drove less than 100 miles. Dropped off w/mechanic on Friday February 8, 2019. I WAS HOPING IT WAS SIMPLE FIX - I REALLY LIKE THE CAR!! I TOLD MY MECHANIC TO TAKE HIS TIME (TRANSLATE, SAVE ME $$) When my mechanic worked on the check engine light, (took him a while to figure out, some "port" thing) and he finally fixed/got rid of check engine light, but then told me the bad news on Friday March 1 -- SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY ROTTED AND RUSTED. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I called the dealership on Friday March 1, spoke to Jordan and explained the situation. The original salesman, Eric who sold me the car, no longer works at Epic. Jordan stated he would talk to owner and get back to me. I asked for a REFUND or A CREDIT TO BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM THEM. Got no response. I actually looked at another vehicle on or about the evening of January 22, 2019. I made an appointment morning of January 24 to have my mechanic look at it, but Epic sold the car before my mechanic could inspect. That's why I didn't have my mechanic inspect. I DID MY HOMEWORK, RAN CARFAX, LESS THAN 119,000k MILES on 2005 CAR AND IN DECENT SHAPE. HOWEVER ROTTEN SUBFRAME IS NO JOKE. Was very sceptical so asked many questions. Was reassured the car was "perfect". Even questioned how far the location was from the amtrak station as I would have to Uber. " Only 5 minutes away". Got to Chicago later in day due to delay with train only to find out the it cost $38.00 and almost an hour by taxi. When I go there the car was outside waiting. First thing I noticed was the battery was not secured properly. Was reassured they had the parts and would be taken care of. Engine looked clean. Started up car and center display was missing pixels and could not make out waring lights. Immediately realized the radio was locked but was assured that they would provide code to unlock. Roof indicated unlocked and flashed and windshield washer fluid light was illuminated. Driving the windows would not roll up completely because of the roof light although car drove decent. This car was far from "perfect" as discribed although I would expect honesty. Sat down and discribed my concern and based price off that. Approx 700.00 off listed price and was told that the price was 5400.00 not the 4700 listed price and that did not cover the 300.00 processing fee which also was not disclosed. With a lot of back and forth ened up at 4500. Only to find out title was not applied for even though they had the car since summer of last year. Rest assured they would get title ASAP. Got temp tags and started the drive home to 4 hrs home to STL without the radio code, windows that won't roll up and no title. Noticed clunking from the front so stopped to fill up and noticed battery also was not fixed either. Asked for code the next day and was told take it to dealer which will charge 170 hr labor to pull radio and get code. Asked what about reimbursement and now I keep getting I will call you with no answers. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAY AWAY unless commentments are followed up on.
