My experience here was amazing!!! It was long as most car buying experiences are but everyone that worked here was really nice and friendly!! We were offered water, cupcakes and even food! Karl helped us get a car and he was amazing, honest, thorough and super cool! The finance guy Leonard (I think that was his name) was really nice and explained everything to us in detail!! The GM Andrew who everyone says was rude didn't seem to be mean he smiled at me a few times in passing, he didn't seem like a bad guy and we were there for a while! Yes they did have some good cars that weren't available for sale but it's because they had to be inspected first and they don't have a shop on sight for that so they have to send them out and wait for the inspection to be done. I don't think I have ever worked with anyone more unprofessional in my life. I messaged them multiple times and received no response. I then called and spoke with Irfan Khan, who repeatedly gave me incorrect information about the car I was interested in. I had to remind him several times that he was discussing the wrong car. He also did not seem to know how the purchase process worked at his own dealership. I requested a buyer's order, which I needed for my loan, but was told they could not provide one. Later, the manager, Jabari Goodman, called me and apologized, explaining that his coworker was new. They told me to begin the purchase process online, which I did. I finalized the online purchase, submitted all requested documents, and received a notification stating that they would email me the contract for digital signing. After two days of silence, I followed up by phone, but they seemed unaware that I had submitted anything. There were several instances where I thought: Do they not want to sell their car? They then told me I should send them a copy of the cashier's check from my bank. After several days of messaging back and forth, I finally received the buyer's order needed to obtain final loan approval. Just as I had arranged travels preparing to pick up the car the next day and was sending the cashier's check to the dealership, they messaged me to say that they had sold it. I understand that they do not hold cars. However, after several days of communication and my clearly demonstrated intent to purchase the vehicle, telling them, I am at the bank right now getting what they requested, I would have expected at least a phone call informing me that another potential buyer was at the dealership. A good car buying experience. Corey was our sales person. He was totally chill and got the car ready before we got there for a test drive. Just a couple of photo copies of the driver's license and we were on our way for test drive. No pressure sell. They don't really expect haggling as I think their pricing is acceptable. Compared to any dealership experience, this was the best experience. The only thing I wish was different was showing up a tad earlier than I did. We got there just 30 mins before close, and another couple was in the process of buying their car at the same time. The paperwork has to be processed for them first before we got to ours. So it took a bit of time to verify our identity and get the right paperworks together. The guys were Really friendly and made our experience a good one. Some good guys... Definitely call ahead of time, you don't want to be showing up for nothing if they already sold the vehicle. I think it takes a day to register on the website that it's been sold. THE WORST PLACE YOU CAN GO TO GET A RENTAL.. ESPECIALLY THE LYFT/HERTZ RENTAL!! The black guy with the long dreads is a COMPLETE POS! You're the client and even if you're spending $2,500 he treats you like you're a piece of trash. I went there twice with car issues that Lyft told me I was eligible for a new car and once when I went to try to renew my contract, the guy didn't even ask my name, didn't look into his stock of cars.. just right off the bat he tells me that he doesn't have ANY OTHER cars go give me when we are in a lot with hundreds of cars. I asked to speak to his manager and he pulled a Dave Chapelle "PopCopy (kinkos)" because he says.. "guess what? I am the manager".. then tells me I can leave the car there now or I can leave to go to the Lyft hub to figure out the problems.. but then wouldn't tell me where the hub is.. when I asked he tells me that "I can Google it". I started laughing at him and he got mad and threatened to put me on a list that I won't be able to rent from Hertz. I don't know if he's just a racist or what but I was not able to get a shred of respect from that location ALL THREE TIMES. And then after I told that POS off he runs out to tell me that his manager wants to talk to me.. I started laughing again and said "I thought you were the manager?" He replies "I'm one of them".. so I asked why he didn't let me talk to him when I asked to speak to someone else.. he says that NOW he wants to talk to me. I gave him a one finger wave and let him know it's too late, that I'll be talking to corporate. I'm no Karen but I'm not some punching bag for a rude, entitled and arrogant completely replaceable person. I could do his job better from DAY 1 then he can. They don't know the meaning of customer service. When I rented the car the tank was on empty, it was completely dirty with empty soda cans on the ground, smelled like BO, and HAD WHITE PAINT ON IT! Then I had to take it in to get repaired a few times and when Lyft said I should go get a new car THAT guy tells me that they don't have any cars available. Three times I went there and all three times he said that they don't have a single car they can give me!! Three times in a row?? A rental company right next to Ohare airport? I don't think so! The worst experience ever at a dealership. Purchased a car and when I went to pick it up they say they sold it to a dealer. I was floored! I actually had a bill of sale on the vehicle!. They claim its sold but as you can see with pics they are still trying to sell it 7 days later. I still have the bill of sale in my hand, they ran my credit and I got financed. They said they can sell it any time to someone else. Then tried to sell me a car with many problems, Crappy touch up paint dings all over carpet missing rust and may other problems. We purchased a 2020 Toyota Corolla for our 19-year-old daughter from Hertz Car Sales in Des Plaines il in December of 2022. We paid 1/2 the cost and our daughter paid the other 1/2 of the cost. Around a month after we had the car, I noticed one day while looking at it in the driveway that the bumper was falling off. I asked my daughter about it, and she said it was "like that" from the day we bought it. My daughter works multiple jobs along with attending college. One of her jobs is working at a car wash. She talked to the owner of the car wash about the bumper, and as a favor he tried to attach it back onto the car. What he did worked temporally as he thought it would. My wife was going to contact a body shop to price having it fixed. I asked her to hold off. I wanted to contact the Sales office where we purchased the vehicle to discuss the issue with them first. Honestly, the more I thought about it the more I could not believe that a company like Hertz would sell a car with the front bumper falling off. I understand we bought the car used and didn't expect the car to be in perfect condition. The front bumper falling off seemed a bit ridiculous. I called the Hertz Car Sales office multiple times and left multiple messages with no success reaching anyone. When we initially purchased the vehicle, we were also promised a vehicle history report. Because it was late in the day the salesman said that he would have to mail it to us. My wife and I were comfortable moving forward with the purchase of the vehicle because we felt that we were dealing with a reputable company. As it turnes out, a month after the purchase we had to call multiple times to get the vehicle history report that we were promised. The tone we received from the sales office after the purchase of the vehicle was completely different to what it was prior to the purchase. I didn't think sales practices like this existed in today's world let alone with a large company like Hertz. We also had our mechanic look at the car and were informed that the rear brake pads were at 4mm and should be replaced soon. Again, not a big deal but something I didn't expect purchasing a car from a company like Hertz. Prior to posting this I reached out to the Hertz Car Sales office multiple times and left multiple messages asking to speak with the manager. I didn't even say what it was regarding. No response. I was able to get my message to the regional manager through speaking with an agent at the Hertz corporate office. The regional manager left me a voice message to discuss. I tried returning his call multiple times and texting him and have not heard back. Honestly, A two-minute phone call and explanation could have more than likely avoided this post. Never again.... I was there to see Brian but I ended up with this clown. This guy spent the whole time talking with his buddy and not once did he work with me and checking out the car or test driving it. Would never buy a car here again. When you first walk in, there is a fat guy sitting in a chair " greeting " you muttering the words rental or sales? The sales guy was not very friendly. Finance guy seemed like he hated his job. They hooked me up with an incredibly high interest rate (and I have excellent credit). Refinanced with my credit union at half the rate. Car was filthy when I bought it (french fries on the ground). They "detailed" it after I had to ask with a half as*** job. When I brought it in for an oil change, mechanic said brakes were so bad, he would not recommend me driving it until they were fixed. Remind you, Hertz performs a 100 something point inspection before car is put up for sale. I informed corporate about this, and they only reimbursed me half the cost and not an apology from corporate or the manager. Plus they force you to give them perfect scores on their survey Thanks, Tim, for that robotic response. If my car went through a thorough inspection, I would not have needed my brakes replaced immediately after I bought it. read more

Hertz is a great company if you work in an established area. The problem in the MidWest region is they are not established at all. They terminated everyone in the region nearly a year ago. Since then they have gone through managers (including me) like water. The reason is simple. The processes and structures that makes hertz what is is we're developed as the company grew. This region is essentially brand new due to everyone in it being new. However because the standard policy is for existing employees to train the new ones there is absolutely nobody to train the new managers and reps. You're handed a manual and told go to work. And when you fail or need help, they have no way within the existing set of processes and structure to offer it. Sales people are stressed because inventory cant be managed, keys can't be found, cars aren't serviced, cars aren't clean, and there are no stable employees or vendors to take care of these things which creates frustrated customers. The sales staff look to manages who have no ability or authorization to make any changes or hire any help. Managers here have all kinds of ideas to fix these issues but the ideas fall on deaf ears. There are many problems and never any solutions accepted or offered. It is absolutely the most hostile and unproductive work environment I've ever been in. read more

Buyer beware! I bought a car here and two days later the rear tire was flat. I figured I had ran something over. Nope. Cracked rim. The guy at the shop said it had been there a while and there was no way they didn't know about it. I called Hertz and they refused to comment on whether or not they had air pressure issues with that tire. As far as their 60 days / 2000 mile warranty, nowhere in their "excluded" list of parts was the rim. The rubber tire was. But of course, they said it was not covered. Shocker. Oh yeah, and they said it had just been fully serviced when I bought. Complete crap. 300 miles later and the Oil Change warning light comes on. When you drop 50k on a car, you'd think they wouldn't try to completely screw you. Good job Hertz. I'll never do business with them again. Moral of the story. Go to a dealership. I stopped in one day after work and saw a 2013 Elantra with 16k miles. I fell in love. I test drove other cars but they weren't as nice. Kiko was great. Horrible experience!!! Mymother and I were in your center on Mannheim this morning and got here at 9:20 AM. My mom was in a car accidend and state farm insurance recommended your facility. We were met with a line of 5 people long and a single rental service agent. Meanwhile there were 3 sales guys here talking about sports and I asked if any of them could help us. They said they were busy answering emails and that the system is separate on rental vs. sales. They further verbally accosted.me for questioning them and laughed about it. Their banter was across the room and included swearing and complaining about prior customers which I found completely unprofessional. Meanwhile, your agent for rentals, Tiara, was very polite, efficient and perfectly composed despite the long line in front her and the loud banter of the sales guys. Some of their banter also appeared to be directed with some hostile jest at her. At the end of the day, we waited an hour to rent a car. read more

Talked to Rich several times and he gave me the price over the phone without hassle. Told me everything I needed to know good and bad upfront . I bought my used 2013 Elantra from this location and had a great experience. You have to look around a lot, online, if you're buying from Hertz but I highly recommend it - no hidden costs and I only estimated to pay $2 less a month than I actually do, after financing. I've NEVER had that experience at a dealer. No hidden costs, only taxes are left off the sticker price. The test drive and financing literally took a little over an hour all together. My car has just under 11k miles and was within my price range - way under what you could find at a dealer. I was in the market for a used car, and I came across Hertz on Autotrader. I called about a specific car on their lot on Western Ave. in Chicago. Rich answered and informed me that the lot wasn't open to the public yet, but if I came out to Des Plaines, he had two nearly identical cars on their lot. I drove out there and was greeted by Rich. The two cars were already in their garage warming up and drying off from the cold and the rain. He discussed the cars with me for a few minutes then left me to myself to investigate both. After I was satisfied, I found him and asked to take one for a drive. He pulled it out and I was on my way. The no haggle price was very fair - below what edmunds.com said retail price should be. They also gave me a fair price on my trade in. I decided to finance part of the purchase price, and was offered a five year loan at a decent interest rate. I cannot believe how stress free this process was. Why go to Carmax and pay more than a car is worth, or why go to a dealer and wheel and deal for a fair price, when you can go to Hertz and get a good price and an enjoyable experience at the same time? BIG MISTAKE, staff is very rude, they do not even let you talk, the worse car ever( and that's that am a Gold member) I try to change, they would not even let me talk. I had no choice but to go to the airport and exchange. I would NEVER rent from this location again. This is in no way a "normal" car buying experience! My husband and I knew the exact car we wanted. We had found it at a couple dealerships and Hertz. We (unfortunately) made it to the dealerships first and each time left feeling beat up. What an overwhelming and obnoxious experience. Then we came to Hertz! It is certainly no frills but in the best way possible. There is no haggling and you don't feel attacked by sales people when you walk in the door. We had set up a time with Ricky to come in and look at the specific car. When we got there the car was already pulled aside for us and our paperwork was in motion (we mentioned that we were fairly certain that this was the car for us). Ricky was extremely friendly and professional. The car was in AMAZING condition and the interior was cleaned to perfection. We said we wanted to move forward with the car! We then worked with Lou in the financing department. He worked his magic with the bank and got our monthly payment exactly where we wanted to be. Again, he was friendly, professional and efficient. Be careful when they claim their vehicles are "certified" I say you should take up their 3 day free rental before you buy and take it to a mechanic for a look over. I am very cautious and overthink most vehicle purchases, and in 25 years never have felt I've been had. I am starting to feel that way with a 8 month old 17000 mile car I bought. Sales guy was decent enough and prices are good, but there is no conditional report so little items like non working electric mirror no sevens set of keys(these can be $300) despite their claim they have a number with express keys they need to be dealer coded. My issue was that the sales guy Richard told me the car just had full synthetic oils change , and I believed him. 20 miles on way home change oil light came on-I thought it just needed reset . I got home and seen the blackest filthy loser oil I seen in 30 years. Also noticed Chevy filter and mechanic where I took for oil change said it was probably NEVER changed.
