    Less than 2 years ago, my daughter bought her used Hyundai SUV here. We should have insisted on an immediate refund when the car died and wouldn't start again, after simply driving straight from the lot to Ace Hardware on Lee Street. The salesman apologized profusely and they had to tow it off Ace's parking lot. Then it took several days to repair. Today my daughter went to have new tires installed. She was told by the mechanic after putting her vehicle on rack, she shouldn't waste putting any more money into the vehicle. The undercarriage is rusted and eroded all the way through and missing chunks of metal on one side. If the cars have to pass inspections before sale, their inspectors are either blind or they don't care. This is NOT normal wear and tear during time she's had the vehicle. The worst part is she recently had to leave it overnight on June 16, 2024 for a recall. They did an inspection there again. (See attached photos) So at least twice the mechanics saw the damage and didn't mention it. She has already put thousands of dollars for misc. repairs into the vehicle since purchase and is still making payments, now this. I notice all the 5 star reviews are very recent. Very convenient to boost the rating.

Those recommendations were made before the car was even looked at. Lo and behold, no recommendations were made to do any of that work once the inspection report was printed out at the end of my appointment. A polite customer service rep to be sure, but was a bit on the pushy side. I already was fine paying for 300 dollars worth of work. Richard, who has since retired, never, ever pushed for unneeded maintenance. I do still trust this place, they get the job done at a reasonable price.

    I had the most horrible experience with their service department. My 2019 highlander transmission…read moreneeded to be replaced and it was on back order for 3 months. They provided me a loaner. The loaner car was stolen from a parking lot while shopping on a Sunday. When I went in the next morning to discuss with the Service Director Mike Cooper, he says "Don't expect to find the car, it is probably on a shipping container going across the country". And then proceeds to ask me if I filed a claim with my insurance since I am responsible for the car. He then refused to provide me another loaner because he said they are out of a car. The car was stolen, how was that my fault? Long story short , the car mysteriously showed back up in the shopping mall parking lot 3 days later parked in 528 ft from where I left it on the next lot over. Funny how the GPS did work to track the car. Then Mike Cooper gaslights me to make it seem that I just forgot where the car was parked. I was with my husband and he remembers exactly where we parked. Plus If that was the case the car would have been found that night in the lot since the shopping mall closed at 9 pm and that would have been the only car on the lot with huge white letters on the back window stating Bredemann Service Loaner. So it looks like Northbrook Police wasn't doing their job either? I called Toyota Corporate to ask if they could help me with a loaner car and they just pushed me back to the dealership. They said they were going to make the GM aware. I never heard from the GM, but my car all of sudden had a new transmission and I was able to pick my car up a few days later after my call to corporate. This entire situation was sketchy from the start. As a result of this situation, I am no longer a Toyota customer.

Matt Kepes is the knowledgeable and affable manager of this shop. David Young is a knowledgeable and friendly ASE Certified Technician here also and upon chatting, I could tell he really has a passion for cars. As a helpful Dad's errand, I brought my son's car in here for a brake job while he was out of town on a trip. This particular shop is also part of Costco's network of auto service providers (besides selling and installing tires which Costco does at its own Tire Centers) and that is what directed me here. That and knowing they would be more economical than having a dealer do the brake work. They do good and reliable and guaranteed work and while they are not "cheap", but rather reasonable, you do get a 15% discount based on being a Costco member. You need an authorization number from Costco via their website to get that discount. They do a lot of the usual auto shop services but most of their Costco referral business is admittedly for wheel alignments (which I also had done) which Costco Tire Centers don't do, but often recommends after their tire work. I really liked the professionalism and friendliness I experienced here. Nice written reports with photos are also provided on all of the work btw. Big thumbs up and thank you Matt and Dave! ps - There is a 3% credit card fee and the auto repair bills are not insignificant. There is no fee for a debit card, so bring and use that if it makes a big enough difference for you.
