This is an Italian restaurant, but I stopped off here for drinks during a snowy day. Because of the weather, it was pretty empty, but I was welcomed in and attended to immediately. A small, cozy space with window seats, a couch and coffee table, a community table, bar seats, and individual tables. The restaurant encourages a mix of patrons, from people enjoying a big meal, to enjoying a cocktail with the girls, or even if you just want to hang out, drink coffee, and read a book. They really want people to feel at home. I had the Epistrophy (rum brugal, lime juice, epi syrup, mint, and braca menta) as well as the OMG (portofino gin, lime juice, basil, and Italian cordials punch). Both of these were light and easy to drink. My last drink, the "spicy kiss" from savoia (tanteo chipotle tequila, savoia americano, grapefruit soda, and lime) was indeed spicy. They also have drinks featuring ginger, beet, spiced wine, mezcal, vermouth, maraschino liqueur, cinnamon, orange bitters, and more. Lots of Italian ingredients on the drink menu. Again, I didn't have the food, but there is an extensive pasta menu with a small selection of meat dishes. Many people complain about the slow service. There was no problem the day I visited, but again, it was slow. But my reply to that is, I think this is the type of place that is SUPPOSED to be slow. I went to this decent and pretty reasonably priced Italian spot with a group a while back. The place inside is charming, though a bit small, and our group sat on a table in the back that was slightly elevated from the rest of the restaurant. The service was alright, being friendly but a bit slow and haphazard. For instance, I got my main dish much later than everyone else, and another person's appetizer arrived at basically the same time as their entree. To drink, I had the very tasty Oreri for $17, listed as a Sardinian boulevardier with rye, Campari, Borghetti caffe liquor, and Mirto wild blueberry Sardinian liquor. The drink was delicious with a bitter-sweet flavor with a bit of light fruitiness, and I would recommend it. My appetizer was the Burrata for $17 with farm tomatoes, toasted almonds, celery, and red onion vinaigrette. The burrata wasn't the largest piece, but it was good, with there being plenty of tomatoes. The celery and almonds added some crunch and texture, and the vinaigrette was very light. As the dressing was light, it was a little under-flavored, needing some salt if they want to keep it simple, or perhaps the obligatory balsamic glaze you see a lot on burrata. I tried a bit of the Endive Salad for $16 with avocado, orange, croutons, and a citrus vinaigrette, which was bitter, refreshing, and tasty overall. If I recall correctly, no one else got an appetizer or salad otherwise. My main dish was the Bistecca Di Tonno for $29, listed as pan-seared tuna with spicy romesco sauce, hazelnut, and chickpeas. I ordered it rare, and the dish came out with the tuna properly seared, but it was unfortunately cold. As said, my dish came out later than everyone else, so possibly someone missed a queue. The rest of the ingredients were flavorful and worked well with the tuna, whether it was the slightly spicy and earthy romesco, the bit of crunch from the hazelnuts, or the chickpeas that retained some texture. If the tuna had been hot, it would have been much more appetizing, and I would have sent it back, but I already got my dish late, so I decided not to, or else I would have held up the rest of the meal. I tried a bit of the Malloreddus Alla Campidanese for $21, a Sardinian gnocchetti pasta with tomato sauce, sweet Italian sausage, and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. It was slightly salty, and the pasta had a unique texture and was decent overall. Another person had the Brasato, or braised short rib, which they enjoyed. Another person had the Pappardelle, which they seemed to like. We didn't bother with dessert at the end. The prices and food were decent, but I wouldn't rush to go back. read more

Cotoletta Alla Milanese- This was OK, the cutlet was fried really well but it wasn't an exciting dish. The cutlet was super crispy which was great but it came off a bit dry. I also felt there needed to be same kind of sauce or something because there was only lemon to squeeze on top. (also the waitress just gotta be mindful with her hair because a loose strand fell onto my friend's plate when the drinks came. Nice transition into drinks, expensive Aperol spritz and tiny, and the beer was not very cold. I actually dropped my spritz on the ground and I guess they only saw 10 minutes later when they came to get the plates. Oh well that's a 16 dollars the floor enjoyed. the food was pretty bad. bland, no flavor at all. the gnocchi with mushrooms in particular was awful. I asked for more cheese hoping that would fix the dish but it couldn't really salvage the lack of flavor. The tuna entree was meh. what really got me is that we asked for bread, something they usually give, and they said they ran out. At 7pm, the restaurant already ran out of bread.. weird. Amazing happy hour deal! Around 4pm on Monday there was no wait, and the servers were fast and attentive. The interior is small and cozy, with quaint decoration and a warm atmosphere. During happy hour (3:30-6:30pm on weekdays), they have $12 pastas! We ordered a pappardelle with mushroom ragu and a rigatoni ragu bolognese. The textures of the pastas were perfectly al dente, and for both pastas the flavors were delicious. Both pastas were slightly too salty for our taste. Overall definitely recommend a try! read more

Great little coffee shop in Little Italy. I really enjoyed the vibes of this place. With the windows opened, there was a nice gentle breeze coming in, on a brisk/warm June day. The staff here is extremely friendly. This coffee shop has a couple of couches as well as benches along the window, and your standard tables and chairs. I saw this place featured on Fung Bros YouTube series, and it got my attention since you don't hear anything about Sardinian food. Definitely curious to try, so I recommended it for a ladies' dinner. We went there on a rainy Tuesday night. Needless to say, it wasn't packed, and we did have reservations. Apparently, there must a be a glitch on the reservation site about receiving texts about their reservation being cancelled. My cousin received the same text as other reviewers mentioned. She called and straightened it out with the restaurant. Be sure to do that if it happens to you. The restaurant is very cute. Love the vibes. As it's commonly the new thing now, you scan a QR code for the menu. They don't have a super extensive menu, nor do I feel like there are many Sardinian specialties. Either way, we ordered the following: Tartare di Tonno - excellent, super fresh and tasty, done well Calamari e Funghi - pretty good, cooked well Polpettine di Vitello - really good and flavorful, exceeded expectations Tagliatelle Nere for my entree - it was good, probably one of the better versions of this dish I've had. I wish it had more than just mussels though The Mule for my drink - it was ok, not great I tried a piece of my cousin's hanger steak and it was good. For dessert, we got the panna cotta and chocolate mousse to share. The panna cotta was great. I really enjoyed it. The chocolate mousse was good, but too sweet for my palette. Overall experience: Food - 3.5 although I'm glad that food wasn't bland. Some things were too heavily salted. The free bread was like a pretzel. While prancing the neighborhood, we luckily stumbled into a humble, quiet, peaceful setting like Epistrophy. Imagine a cross between a coffee shop and a With scattered coffee tables, classic retro decorations and antique wooden shelves holding rows of classic books - I really enjoyed the setting and ambiance. NYC can be extremely chaotic, restless, and stressful but places like Epistrophy offer that unique time capsule within the abyss. The food is solid and dependable. I ordered the egg white omelette with mushrooms, side salad and chips. Although the portion was not big nor kept me fully satisfied - the setting mostly completed the experience. Along the ways are antique books, records and board games that can help pass the time in a nostalgic way. The spot warrants 3 stars since the food isn't particularly special, and the portion sizes aren't particularly noteworthy. I enjoyed this place overall. My omelette was very good. I love how the cheese was basically dripping out of the omelette. Only thing I didn't like too much was the mixed greens. I think they need to edit the ratio of the greens they used because something was a bit more bitter than the mixed greens I'm used to. And personally I typically like a little bitterness. It was just too much. However, they nearly redeemed themselves with their great Moscow mules. So tasty. Overall everything I ate felt very light, so if you are going for a light breakfast then it's a great order. If you want something heavier go for one of the pastas perhaps. One of my go-to cozy weeknight dinner spots when in Nolita! The staff are super friendly, the ambiance is homey and warm, and the food and drinks are delicious. They have unique wines, and fun spins on classic cocktails. All very fairly priced! The food is lovely - perfect portions that leave you feeling satisfied but not overstuffed. The complimentary bread is some of the best I've had. Most recently I started with the Arancini. Tiny sized balls, but they were light, unlike some arancini that can be too rich and heavy. I got the Endive salad, while my dinner guest got the Brussel Sprouts salad. I'm a huge fan of adding grilled chicken to their spectacular salads, and they definitely make these salads entree-worthy. We finished off the meal with cannolis for dessert. The freshest and most refreshing cannoli I've ever had. Crisp, airy, and light, with a citrusy cream filling! The perfect ending. Came here with a group of 9 people for a birthday celebration. Overall I was left disappointed and would recommend diners choose a different restaurant. Food = 1.5/5 : First off the food portions are small. I got 2 apps and 2 pastas to split with my wife and we were hungry after it (and my wife is a small eater). The food was also pretty mediocre. Honestly the best dish was probably the bread (which was free). We got the olives (meh), the zucchini fritters (small / overpriced and only OK), the cacio e Pepe (poorly done), and the butternut squash pasta (decent but overpriced). Ambience = 1/5: This place looks nice in pictures but the execution is poor. Tables are close together and it's a bit cramped. Even sitting at our own table, people were bumping into each other and no place to put coats. The place is pretty small and the door kept opening in/out, so you'd keep getting cold air hitting you randomly. Service = 2/5 : Service was generally slow. They took 30 minutes to bring bread out for the table, took a long time between bread and apps, and then a long time between apps and entrees.
