The cappuccino was delicious, and honestly one of the best ones I have had in New York even though this place is not known to be a coffee spot. After hearing a lot of good things about the lemon ricotta pancakes, I was slightly disappointed that it tastes more or less like a regular pancake, just a little less sweet due to the ricotta cream on top. My friend arrived at 12:50PM, and a red hair waitress claimed that she has never received my call and that they gave my table away. She put us outside in the bright sun, so I asked another waiter if it is possible to move us inside. The waitress came to ask us "What's wrong?" and we asked her if we could be moved inside. Walked in here the other night with 2 others for a casual dinner in Nolita and we absolutely loved it! The space is cozy and cute, but I will say it gets VERY loud and a little cramped. I took off one star because the ambience could be better, especially since the kitchen is virtually in the middle of the restaurant. We got a bottle of Cabernet that was very good, but get to didn't try any of the cocktails from the bar. To start, we had the Calamari and Mushrooms which came in endive cups and the Brussels Sprouts salad. Both were delicious and gone in seconds. For my entrée, I had the Orichette with Radicchio and Pancetta in a light cream sauce. I usually don't even like cream sauce, but this was so good and the pasta was cooked PERFECTLY. My friend had the Bisteca Al Tonno which was a great option too if you're a fan of seared tuna/want to order something light. I can see it getting crowded and loud, but when I went, there were only ~5 other people in the restaurant. Food: I recommend the zucchini fritters - I would totally go back for these. It doesn't look like much, but they're quite filling with the avocado smash between 3 layers of zucchini "fritters" - they're a bit like pancakes, but you can taste the zucchini inside. Topped with an egg, and pairs super well with the honey yogurt. I tried a bit of my friend's squash omelette - I thought the arugula was a bit overpowering, but it was very healthy! Great little area for people watching without too much car traffic and noise. Everything in their menu looked amazing that it was hard to choose. So we decided to split a few plates. For starters, the burrata was a no-brainer. I typically don't think burrata needs any accoutrements, but theirs was served with beet carpaccio and toasted almonds, and changed my mind. The sweet and savory really elevated it. We also had the veal/beef meatballs in white wine sauce. It was six to the order, which was the perfect amount for two people. Loved the barebones dish, and dipping bread into the sauce was a highlight. Lastly, we decided to split a pasta dish. It was a pretty lengthy debate since everything sounded amazing, but we landed on the pappardelle in braised beef tomato sauce. It was [chef kissing fingers emoji]. The pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly. Light but still meaty (in both senses of the word). For cocktails, I had the New Fashioned and the 200 Sour since it was a bourbon kinda night. The decor is rustic, shabby chic ...reminded me of a coffee shop with dim lightings, very cozy, romantic but it's a small restaurant promoting farm to table ingredients (seem to be the hip thing nowadays). Hubby opted for the pasta with meat sauce. Supposedly what most people ordered on yelp...i ordered the butternut squash gnocchi with scallops. And we shared calamari (sauteed) as appetizer. The bread that we got was cold and dry out. Server was not very attentive, our empty water glasses were neglected for many times, he was busy chatting with customers around the bar (i think they knew each other). Calamari appetizers had some charred garlic pieces but overall, it was a very delicious dish. The calamari was cooked perfectly, not chewy, the seasoning was simple but just the right amount of salt. Excellent! Portion is on the tiny side, price tag $12! Gnocchi was a disappointment. It was hard like a rice cake...I'm not a gnocchi expert but this is really not good. The scallops were definitely frozen, not fresh and they sliced it very thin, too thin, kinda killed it! Hubby's pasta was just alright. I had high hopes for this restaurant. We arrived last Thursday night--very hungry. Our server took our order and then proceeded to talk with people at the door before putting in our order. Then the food came. I must say the salads were very good. The tuna tartar was very very bland and was not served with any flat bread to scoop it up. Disappointing. And then....drum roll...my dinner companion gasps as we see a huge water bug climbing on the lapel of my jacket. We were sitting inside for over an hour at this point and did not bring the bug with us! We both jumped up and dusted off the bug, chased him and I killed it. The staff and other diners just watched. What was stunning is that the staff provided ZERO provision for such a disaster. You would totally expect that your dinners would be comped since there were bugs in your food. Nope! Nothing. Not even an apology. Maybe bought drinks? Dessert? Weird. The next day I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. I believe it was the owner that called me back. She barely apologized and was even questioning the entire episode passing it off as it can happen when you sit outside. We were not outside! When I passed by this place, it immediately caught my eye with its cute decor and whimsical look. We went for dinner on a Monday night and since it was pretty empty, we could choose any table we wanted. We took a long time to decide what to order, but the hostess was really patient and actually allowed us to taste two more wines when we were unhappy with the first one we tried. I was blown away by her hospitality. For food, we got the bruschette miste, insalata di fonocchi and the pappardelle with meat. The bruschette was my favorite with four huge pieces of bread each with different toppings (proscuitto, olive paste and sausage, diced tomatoes, mozzarella with tomato). The bread is great here so definitely get an appetizer that involves bread! The size of the entrees were quite large, so they are substantial enough to share with someone else. The pasta was heavy and not the best I've ever had, but still satisfying and tasty. The salad was refreshing and provided a nice balance to the pasta. 3.5 stars for the food, but 4 for the gracious and sweet hostess and servers, as well as the laid back yet trendy ambiance. read more

This is a really cute stop! I went with my parents on a Friday at 1:40pm and while I made a reservation, the restaurant was pretty empty. We were seated by the large windows that opened up onto the street and it was nice to feel the breeze as we ate our meal! We ordered the pasta, quinoa salad, burrata, and a side of polenta. I absolutely love burrata and while it wasn't the best I've had, it was decently good and the beets were I nice touch though I wish they had included more than just four pieces. The quinoa bowl was quite good, and is a good option if you want to fill up. The spaghetti was more of a let down because while it was flavorful, it was also pretty salty. The polenta was probably my favorite thing that we ordered even though it was only a side, it was so creamy and delicious! It's nice they have circular tables so you can actually see everyone and the conversation isn't just one across the other or side by side. The meh part of it- the actual food. I found the food to be very average and because of that, the prices to be really high for the amount you get and the taste. Here's what we got: Calamari E Funghi- 3/5- not what I was expecting. This calamari wasn't covered in batter or fried (totally missed the "seared" part on the menu). It was just the squid mixed with mushrooms on top of what I think was endive. It wasn't bad- it was pretty tasty but this portion was tiny af and also not outstanding in any way ($11) Endive salad- 3/5- also not bad for a salad....but it's a salad. Endive tossed with avocado, orange, croutons, and citrus vinaigrette and seriously something I couldn't make on my own. As I'm writing this, part of me feels like they keep the restaurant so dark is so you can't see your plate and how average everything looks on it when it comes out ($13) Gnocchi Al Funghi- 3/5. I mean truffle oil is great but just jacks up the price of a dish that is again, average- homemade potato gnocchi, mixed mushroom, truffle oil, parmigiano-reggiano ($17) Pappardelle Al Sugo Di Carne- 3/5. Flat, fresh pasta, braised beef in tomato sauce, parmigiano-reggiano...you know what I'm going to say next. average tasting ($16) The food isn't terrible tasting by any means- everything tasted okay. But that was my biggest qualm with this place- the hefty price tag for portions that are SO SMALL especially for what I felt was very very average food. I'd give it a 2.5/5 for the food (if yelp did half stars) with all these factors added in. It's one of those places where you're super excited for the food to come out and when it does and you look at the dish, you're just like oh...that's it?
